This hotel features beautifully polished wood throughout and is well located with a charming garden. The pool at the back is tranquil. Staff are friendly, courteous and attentive. Breakfast is slightly basic. The rooms are well equipped, with good air con and wifi.

A charming colonial style hotel. Rooms have high ceilings and are generally quiet dark inside. The furniture and fittings are very dated, old an creaking as is the wooden floor, but in keeping with the style, certainly the furniture could be better maintained, maybe the light bulbs could be uprated the rooms certainly don't scream luxury and have the feel of a dated Thai provincial hotel from the 1960's.||The pool area is wonderful shaded by mature tropical trees with a large and reasonably deep pool (1.05-1.5m). Staff are attentive, discreet and friendly. Beautiful breakfasts room and a reasonable breakfast (not a large selection and not 5* by any means) although given occupancy was very low (maybe 2 - 6 rooms and no more than 2 tables at breakfast including mine) eggs took a long time to be cooked and not once did they cook them as I asked. ||The bar was very quiet but the staff shone through mixing very good cocktails.||So why 1 start only? Well when I first arrived I was shown to my room which smelt of sewage and was extremely small with no walk in shower. I asked at reception if they had another room that did not smell so bad and maybe a little bigger. They showed me a nicer room with no smell and offered me to upgrade for an extra $25 on the price I had paid (booked, pay at hotel) with Bookings.com ($214.82 net. for 2 nights including breakfast). I checked that the new price was for the full stay and the receptionist confirmed it was. So I thought OK nevermind I'll pay the extra to not smell sewage smell for 2 days. I actually confirmed this twice with the receptionist as after seeing the second room I thought it was (smell aside) only worth an extra $25 for 2 nights ||At check out I was a little confused with the bill, the different currencies etc Kip $, THB used in Laos. I did ask is this in USD, confirmed, so I paid it. The extream heat did not help my clear thinking (42°c). However after travelling back to Thailand I checked the bill again only to realise they had charged me $200 per night! It's a SCAM!||Furthermore the hotel did not replied or even acknowledged my many attempts to contact them (2 emails, contact through Booking.com,WhatsApp messages) for over 24 hours and only when I called them. The initial response was to check with front desk and say they offered me the upgrade at an additional $92 per night and usually that room sells at $277. I strongly dispute this was ever said to me. ||At $277 this hotel is putting itself in the same class as Oriental, Raffles or Peninsula hotels, let me tell you this is very far off the mark, while the cleanliness and service are good the property is very very far off; dark dingy smelly rooms and while the service is good it's not at that top notch top price hotel standard. ||The final position of this hotel was I signed the bill therefore I must have accepted the price. The truth is I looked at the bill and could not understand it full, given thenmiriad of lines, the heat and the multiple currencies. ||They refuse to accept that they had a verbal contract with me for $200 ++ for the entire stay. ||Stay here at your own risk, hopefully you won't get the sewage room and make sure you fully check your bill and refuse to pay anything if they try to Scam you as they have done with me.

This has been the best hotel during our journey through Laos , Cambodia and Vietnam . ||Since you enter the hall you feel as if you stepped back to the ancient colonial past : everything reminds you the old times .|The hotel is charming, elegant , furnished with tastefully pieces and furniture The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing and the staff lovely .|We had a standard room with the same colonial style of the hotel : very comfortable bed , remarkable furniture . |The swimming pool was a nice relief form the heat of the day . Breakfast was excellent , as it was dinner . ||Probably we won’t return to Vientiane in the near future but if if we do we will choose Setha palace for our staying and we strongly recommend it. ||Anna and Francesco from Italy

This colonial-style hotel is an oasis of calm amid the downtown bustle of the Laotian capital, and is within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants. There's a sheltered pool that becomes an essential list around 4.30pm, and breakfast that's perfectly adequate. Nice, too, to have both a bath and a shower.

Well located boutique hotel with a relaxing pool area. The restaurant also offers very good Lao and western cuisine. The room was spacious and the staff very helpful on organizing our transportation and even money exchange.

Spend 4 nights at this gorgeous hotel. So much character and well maintained. It is the personnel service of all the staff that I rate it 5 stars. Meevana and Thomas L |went out of their way with patience in helping me book my ongoing train tickets to Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang. Nothing was too difficult for them. Together with Saylonoid the GM and Poi the new receptionist the team were outstanding.|The breakfast ladies would always greet you with their warm smiles. The breakfast buffet was lovely each day.|The turndown service each evening was lovely as were the smiling and friendly housekeepers.|Totally recommend this boutique hotel with a great location in Vientiane. 8 minute pleasant walk to the centre of downtown cafes/restaurants and tourist sights nearby.

What a charming hotel in a lovely city. The hotel oozes style of the past and offers some of things long gone - enormous ceilings, beautiful wooden floors and artwork showcase the rich history. All the team were so warm and accommodating especially the smiley Khong who seemed to be on duty 24/7, Saylohid the Front Office Manager who was ever calm and charming - all lead by the hostess with the mostest - Hala the General Manager. Her passion and dedication is shown throughout the hotel in every way with her style and sophistication. Great stay - great job.
