My first time visiting and I'm already in love with the delicate flavor of the fresh Bogacha. Great variety packed into this tiny market worth visiting.

Ben Benson

Google
One of my favorite specialty grocery shops in greater Boston, and that’s saying something! The folks who run Sevan are super friendly and knowledgeable. Everything is great, but the deli options and flatbread stock are highlights. I’m never able to leave without a chicken hand pie.

Kay Loverde

Google
Great place. Has all kinds of stuff. Friendly staff. I went through their dried fruit varieties and also got other treats.

Melina Ch

Google
Stopped in to pick up some baklava and was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of specialty import goods available. An array of honey options, dried goods, spices, pickles, not to mention the fully stocked bakery case. The baklava was delicious and not cloyingly sweet and the service was kind and had the touch you can almost only find at family owned establishments like this. I'll need to make a trip back soon.

Robert Gagosian

Google
The best Armenian food you can purchase. Everyone that works there is helpful and efficient.

Joel Friedman

Google
Armenian deli and bakery, I go there every time I'm at my daughter's place in Watertown Half a mile walk, still awesome 😋

Mara Tzizik Swanson

Google
Great Armenian bakery! Love all of their pre-made foods!

Bekkah Morris

Google
Loved the atmosphere & the selection of middle eastern, Armenian, & Persian items - fresh & packaged. It has a small shop / family feel. A must-stop if you’re visiting the area! The guy at the register was awesome & talked with me about the area & was clearly friendly with everyone who came in before me. One of the best stops while I visited town & can’t wait to go back for more goodies!

Yelp
We are a party of 4 traveling to NH and Maine that decided to grab some snacks and a bottle of wine for a picnic. The owners were very welcoming, hospitable, and eager to assist. We loved them. Nooran, the gentleman owner, went out of his way to find complimentary cups for us to use from another business next door. He also brought a corkscrew and removed the cork from the wive bottle for us. The Lamajun was straight out of the oven and very tasty. There are many similar stores in the neighborhood, but Sevan's service and kindness was exemplary. We highly recommend this location.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in Watertown (or in need of olives and ), I make sure to stop by Sevan. The store overall has a great selection, and the deli counter has fantastic food! I recommend getting either a sujuk or basturma wrap (definitely heated up). Also, the owners are super friendly and helpful too!

Anna F.

Yelp
We had a delicious lunch feast from the prepared food items we picked out here. The spicy hummus and the roasted eggplant were my favorites! We definitely could have eaten even more. Ate it with super fresh zahatar bread that seems like it had just been baked. Love to have that middle eastern blend of spices on bread whenever I get the chance. My boyfriend, who is a meat lover, enjoyed the stuffed cabbage and kibbeh (which has spiced ground meat). We'll have to come back to try more of their specialties!

Ann P.

Yelp
I used to shop here with my family for years. It has been 31 years since my return. We stopped in for cheeses, dips and other Armenian treats. The selection is expansive and the service, friendly and helpful. I did not see a lot of food from Armenian but certainly "Aegean" and other med areas. I may have missed some.

Leighanne D.

Yelp
Amazing experience will definitely be back!Store was clean and bakery and deli counter were filled with delicious choices! The owners couldn't have been more helpful and made some great recommendations! Whipped feta was amazing!

Lili F.

Yelp
The food is the BEST that I have ever had, it's as homemade as they come. Every time I bring this to work my coworkers want to know where and want the address!! ( I work on a plane and sometimes passengers will ask, and yes I invited them to try) I love the owners they are wonderful and friendly and I always feel welcomed like family. I have been coming here for about 15 years and I have never been disappointed. If I could give Sevan market a 100 stars it wouldn't be enough!!! Thank you Sevan Market!!!

Iva T.

Yelp
Great selection, friendly staff, family business. My favorite are the vegetarian grape stuffed leaves, their pastrami and all their pickled veggies.

Dan O.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the owner is incredible. I have been going here for well over a decade. Love the hummus, baba ghanoush and tabouli (to name a few). They also have an olive bar that beats any other. I went there today and they had just closed, saw the owner talking to a friend outside and he said, " do you need something?" Ended up opening up and getting me what I needed and having a nice conversation. A local small business that really gets it. Top tier customer service and nice small talk every time.

Thomas M.

Yelp
An incredible selection of Armenian/Persian/Lebanese/Greek/Israeli delights- ranging from delectable prepared foods to delicious pastries to a broad selection of olives and nuts and dairy products. The owners are knowledgeable and kind, and provide great service. A neighborhood gem!

Robert P.

Yelp
On the recommendation of one of my Armenian friends, I stopped by today to get a bite on my way to the office. I wasn't sure what most of the items in the counter were, but the owner was kind enough to explain to me what the items were. I went with stuffed cabbage which were the best I ever had (not even close)! I also got the stuffed eggplant.... delish! I'll be coming back for sure! I'll take the detour on my way home and pick up a few authentic food items. Looking forward to trying their meat pies as well as the lamajunes. Also, the olive bar was huge!

Sandra N.

Yelp
I purchased 10 items for appetizers; 7 were tasty and fresh: wraps, meat Boreg, falafel, tabouleh, hummus, feta with roasted red peppers and mixed olives. 3 were inedible: Russian salad (slimey), ssalted anchovies (tough after 2 days marination) and picked turnips (solid), definitely not cooked at all. Staff friendly and helpful which is why I've given this review a 4 instead of 3 star. I will not return!

Jenny S.

Yelp
Sevan Bakery was first introduced to me by my fiancés family, and it's now my first stop after touching down at Boston Logan. The deli has the most delicious food offerings, but you have to try the olive wrap! So good and I already can't wait for my next!

Jackie D.

Yelp
Such friendly staff and owner was so gracious. Locally owned market for over 25 years plus. Thank you for being so kind for some out of towners looking for a snack. Would recommend this neighborhood store for the area.

John H.

Yelp
This is my 'go-to' place for the classic eastern Mediterranean food. I've been going here for nearly thirty years. I don't know anywhere else that I can get such a good selection of Greek cheeses. The owners are friendly.

Mia B.

Yelp
Not friendly store. The deserts are not that good so I probably will not be able to return. Also sometimes the people can be welcoming and helpful, however during my visit I did not feel that energy at all.

Andreas S.

Yelp
Great job at converting 5 star specialty store to trash. This store was supported by many of us over decades to promote them. People came here from different states to buy their products. When I arrived, I found out that they removed all the products for political reasons. Those products made who they are. If they want to be ordinary then good luck. We prefer big supermarkets for those ordinary products. On a side note, I want to add that I do agree with their political view. However, we don't hear a gas station stop selling gas for politics. This is completely unacceptable.

Alex k.

Yelp
Unfortunately a bad issue here. They are not adhering to Corona guidelines. My mom went there to shop and noticed the worker behind the counter not wearing gloves or a mask. How is this acceptable this day and age? Don't they realize their customers and mainly older and are susceptible!! She also felt he was extremely put off by her being there in a mask. How do think you can run a business during these times in this manner? Anyways, this place will be reported to Watertown health inspectors at this point for violating protocols in place.

Yael D.

Yelp
So I hit up this shop ISO Baba Ganouj to include as part of a melange of Middle Eastern savory treats we were bringing for dinner with our friends in Lincoln. I'd already checked a couple of the other stores on the same strip, but they felt so gloomy and their Baba didn't look enticing to me. And then I stopped in here: This compact, cheery place sucked me right in with its tempting food displays and aesthetic feel . And maybe it's psychological, but the Baba looked better to me. So I got a pound, which I think came to about $8 or so, plus a small bag of house made Pita Chips, which came to, I think, $4. Not exactly inexpensive. But am happy to report, both were great! I'm a Baba snob with a preference for smoky, smooth, and rich with tahini, and this covered all those bases. There were lots of other tantalizing looking things, but I'd already blown our budget at Eastern Lamejun Bakery. Four stars for now since I only tried a couple items. Plus the prices seemed a bit steep. That won't stop me from returning, though, the next time I'm in town. If everything else is as delicious as the Baba, am sure this is going to become a regular stop.

Cihan B.

Yelp
This is the place where I feel like home. Not only shop in there for myself, I also shop for my neighbors and friends. Love from Kurtulus/Tatavla.

Edward A.

Yelp
Three words: bird's nest baklava. Unbelievable. It seriously puts all other baklava to shame. Add to that some outstanding mezzo dips and tons of other incredible Armenian fare, and you have yourself a truly stellar Middle Eastern bakery/deli.

Blind O.

Yelp
I made the mistake of asking my European wife to stop by and pick up a few things to see if Sevan could be our go-to market for Middle-eastern products and staples. I probably would have walked out right away since I am well aware of the range of prices for most of these items, from NY/NJ to Glendale and Westwood. Sadly, my wife has no idea about the prices of these foods, but we both found the food to be exceedingly mediocre and bland (although the Bulgarian Feta was salty, and provided in plastic wrap with no brine). The falafel was not good, otherwise, the quality of everything else was not better than you can find in Trader Joes or similar places, but at thrice the price. The other items, kibbeh, various dips, breads, all store-made stuffs were just ok. What is not great are the prices. I realize it's a strange time with regard to inflation, but I really haven't seen very small individual kibbeh, less than half the size of a normal kibbeh anywhere else, and priced at $4 a piece (no pine nuts or the like either). The falafels are a good size, but taste like cardboard and at nearly $3 a ball, even harder to swallow (we didn't even finish one). We were also charged for a few items we never received (nothing sinister, just charged for two pieces rather than the one we received/ordered, for example); it could be an innocent error, but I have no interest in driving all the way there to deal with it. Also, my wife felt like the man behind the counter was simply overstuffing the containers. I wanted her to try a number of items, but when she asked for a quarter pound of this or that, the man turned away from her to fill them. She was surprised to see that they were all filled to the brim, more than half a pound (or more than twice what she asked for). I know, it's a pain to only put a 1/4 lb of something into a container for a customer, but instead of understanding that we were there to sample the quality of their food, decided to lose a possible long-term customer for short-term gain. I guess they made the right choice here though, because we definitely would not go back based on the wide sample of food we purchased and tasted. Sorry, we won't be returning. The lack of tastiness and high prices do not warrant another try.

Hande C.

Yelp
What happened to all the nice products they used to offer? I drove close to an hour to find none of my favorite products on their shelves. Highly disappointed.

Yuan J.

Yelp
Hands-down best baklava I've ever had - perfectly crispy on top, sweet and soft on the bottom, and with a perfect nutty layer in the middle. This place has tons of different flavors: pistachio, walnut, fig, sour cherries w/ pistachio, cream, almond, etc. With so many different options available, it's actually a bit difficult to choose which one you want, but I would highly recommend getting the Walnut and Pistachio flavors - they're very traditional and are popular among other customers. The Pistachio one in particular was exceptional because unlike other baklavas I've had, this one really made the pistachio flavor stand out and be the star ingredient. Also, the baklavas are not chokingly sweet, so don't feel bad about trying multiple pieces! I will definitely be back to try their other foods!

Victoria C.

Yelp
Love these guys! Amazing ready foods! Absolutely yummy!!!! Great service! The quality has not changed and is very consistent. All around wonderful specialty store.

Astra G.

Yelp
Great assortment of freshly made pastries, desserts (baklava!), olives, cheeses, and other groceries. We tried the pistachio baklava and a spinach feta filled bread. Both were tasty and the baklava was filled with lots of nuts. However it's a bit pricier than the place a few doors down.

Alan S.

Yelp
Great selection of unique Armenian breads - the simits and others will also be familiar to anyone acquainted with Turkish cuisine. The fresh dips are also a solid pairing - the feta cheese one was a big hit at a recent house party.

Jane L.

Yelp
This store is AWESOME. I feel like a child in a candy store when I come here. Unfortunate this place closes on Sundays so I come here on Saturdays. Only street parking is available so make sure to have one or two quarters with you if you are driving. 1 quarter give you 30 minute parking, which I find it sufficient to shop. What I like there are: Russian salad Stuffed cabbage Stuffed eggplant Baklava (the classic pistachio one are the best) Beans Dolma Dried dates Baba ghanoush There are plenty of other stuff but sadly I don't remember the name of those small dishes.

K A.

Yelp
I have been a loyal patron for a number of years, generally speaking their pastries are extremely nice and fresh. Bought numerous items yesterday, most lovely, but just shared a container of Loukoum around the table and discovered live maggots in it. Distressing. I think I'll have to find a new sweets shop.

George H.

Yelp
This is the go to place to get middle eastern specialties. Their selection of olives is second to none. They have an exceptional nut selection as well as an amazing deli with phenomenal cheeses, and prepared foods, and that's all before you hit the pastries and baked goods that are made fresh daily in house. The owners are amazingly courteous and helpful and always have a smile and eager to help. It's an amazing experience every time I go......

Mark D.

Yelp
Okay, as a full-blooded, I knew it wasn't going to taste exactly like my Grandmothers' cooking. I usually shop elsewhere but decided to give them a try for the first time. And since the food is pretty much homemade and fresh, I knew I'd be paying extra. But, oh my God...I stupidly didn't pay attention to prices while making my selections. I'm always willing to pay top dollar for good food but when I got to the register, I couldn't believe the total cost for simply two small bags of groceries. TWO hundred dollars! $20 for a small bag of munti alone that I can get down the street for less than half and tastes just as good if not better. And no directions on how to cook on any the packages. (I do know how but on some things, it'd help). In fact, no directions on anything. The lamejuns ARE good but again, everything is so expensive that it'd have to taste like food for the gods to be worth that money. Especially since the same quality is available elsewhere at less money. I paid the money but will NEVER return.

Lem M.

Yelp
I was going to give one star, but I have had many better experiences in the past. But today I was extremely disappointed. Bought an item that was clearly marked one price, but it rang up a dollar more. I told the gentleman ringing me up, he looked at the price and said "it was marked wrong". I said, but the price on the package indicates a dollar less. He insisted it was just marked incorrectly and rang me up for the extra dollar. That's just not how you do business. A shame, as I like the family owned business, but will be visiting Arak's in the future.

Yalda Z.

Yelp
Whether you are Armenian, Persian, Turkish, or not you should visit Sevan for the best fresh bread, starters, cheese, olives, nuts and a million other traditional foods and groceries. It's a , lovely, family-owned store and seriously the best spot for getting goodies and snacks.

Tawn E.

Yelp
After leaving Boston ten years ago, this is always one of my first stops whenever I return to visit. Their prepared food is amazing. I love the lahmajoun and the tabouleh! I always get some to eat right away and some to bring home with me.

Phil L.

Yelp
I've been there a few times and they tried to pass off old pastries as fresh and new. The customer service was rude and they lie. Would recommend against shopping here. There's better places with the same food nearby.

Scott T.

Yelp
Sevan is a gem on a street full of great Mediterranean food stores. The deserts, olive selection and cheeses (6 kinds of feta) are great but the appetizers are the jewel in the crown. Several kinds of hummus (including artichoke), grape leaves (meat or rice) kibbe, baba ganoush, eetch, and a feta spread that my son and son-in-law say is Brooklyn worthy! The owners and staff are helpful and the prices are right. Don't miss it.

Lara C.

Yelp
Sevan Bakery has every fresh Turkish cuisine you could want - fresh tabouli, hummus, grape leaves, baklava, nuts, olives, 6 kinds of feta etc. etc. Great spot!

Ozge G.

Yelp
It's very disappointing and immature that they decided to remove products from their shelves due to political reasons. It's very bizarre that they were making money from those products over 20 years. Now they are under pressure I suppose. Anyways, it was a very expensive and tight market with not following Covid 19 guidelines properly. If you are in the search of those products, go to Freerange market in Medford, won't regret at all!

Seib H.

Yelp
This place is nice, the guys are very friendly and chatty, and they have many things that you wouldn't find in your average grocery store, but it's definitely definitely overpriced, and the pastries and simitis are too tough and tasteless.

Kate K.

Yelp
My half-Armenian husband and I moved across the country earlier this year, and Armenian food from Sevan is one of the things we miss most, right after our best friends. This bakery is amazing--they carry all kinds of products, but their prepared foods are unbeatable. Don't go in hungry or you'll take home too much to eat before it goes bad. Pro tip: the kibbe balls in the frozen section are EXCELLENT quick weeknight dinner options. Among all the Armenian bakeries in Watertown, I preferred them for every single type of dish and pastry. My husband preferred the lahmejun from Eastern, but hey, opinion is subjective. Go get some basterma and baklava now if you can!

Ann M.

Yelp
I can't put it simply enough - this place is THE BEST. And it has been consistently the best ever since I was a little kid. Sevan's hummus is beyond amazing. It has set the bar so high for all other hummus that no matter where I go, I find all others to be sub-par. Everything they offer at Sevan is superior: olives, baba, labneh, baklava, meat pies, lahmajoun, roasted eggplant, stuffed peppers, and oh my goodness THE GRAPE LEAVES!! Just do yourself a favor and go here and try one od everything. The folks who work here are the sweetest - this is a family-run business with real heart and soul. The prices reflect the quality of their food, and I promise it's worth every penny.

Osh K.

Yelp
What a great place. The selection and variety is amazing for such a small type of market with endless variety. Fresh food and such great service. I am a fan of their baked items, so good.

Michael S.

Yelp
My go-to source for Middle Eastern ingredients: olives, hummus, bulgur, freekeh, various other grains, olive oils, etc. etc. Plus a great selection of fetas from all over Europe and the Middle East (about a dozen the last time I was there); baked goods; and prepared foods. Prices are very reasonable, especially given the quality. Everything I've tried has been fresh and delicious. Plus the family who owns the market are wonderfully friendly. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this place: it's really terrific.

Anya L.

Yelp
Recently worked with Morat (owner of Sevan?) on a catering order featuring a variety of mezes that could be paired with Turkish wines. The service went above and beyond what one would expect. I would order from Sevan based solely on the customer service. They are wonderful! Fortunately, I will work with Sevan beyond customer service because the food is superb. The variety of olives and cheeses are incredible. The hummus is very savory and their spicy olive oil based dip is lovely. And the spinach pie? SCRUMPTIOUS. My only regret is not ordering baklava because I love baklava, and based on the savory dishes, I can only imagine how good their desserts have to be. Don't pass the opportunity to try Sevan--you will not regret it. Many thanks to Morat as well!

Lisa H.

Yelp
AMAZING! I love this place and it was my weekly go-to when I lived in MA. The hummus, grape leaves, baba ganoush (smokey - perfect flavor) and the stuffed eggplant were our favorites. But everything there is just the best! The assortment of desserts, feta cheese, olives, and breads are top notch too. They sell spices, fruits/vegs, teas, nuts, candy, wine and also have a frozen section with tons of options. Whether it's just staples for your own fridge or you need stuff for a party - this is the place to go. Customer service is also exceptional. Bonus that the owners are so friendly and nice. It's a pleasure to see them and chat while you you are buying all your groceries.

Mars B.

Yelp
Tasty kibe and amazing spinach pie! Will come back soon to try other things. The olive bar looked amazing! There are sweets, savory and everything in between! Will definitely try again! Fresh and super delicious!

Tunc T.

Yelp
One of the nicest Ethnic Middle Eastern food stores in Boston. Great mix of quality Armenian and Turkish foods. So sad that I have moved away. Always friendly service. Great homemade cooking. If you are looking for something different and healthy during Covid, take a chance on anything. You cant go wrong here. Desert section is near the cashier and if the store is busy, you may be tempted to buy more while you wait.

Christian G.

Yelp
I've been here many times. I don't know if I'm just bias to Armenian type food. This place was great I got many things. Got many olives lots of pasta. Some balaclavas as well. It was all great definitely go there when I'm in Boston again.

Hal T.

Yelp
Excellent Turkish, Armenian, and Greek food, pastries, desserts, side dishes, cheeses, baklava's, etc. best place to go for great food.

Aaron D.

Yelp
Despite being an Irish guy who didn't eat anything interesting until he was 18, I like to think that my twenties made up for that picky eating, and Middle/Near Eastern cuisine has become one of my passions. I'm now rather picky in a different sense about my hummus, olives, stuffed grape-leaves, and flatbreads. Sevan is now one of the only places that I will buy these items. I first came here about five years ago when I was looking for pomegranate molasses so that I could make my own muhammara, and I had no idea what I was going to get into. I love their hummus (plain is good, but spicy is amazing). The olive bar is expansive and delicious. Their grape leaves are now the gold-standard upon which others are judged, they're just wonderful soft, flavorful pillows of spices and rice. Those items are just the tip of the iceberg. You could be equally happy going with any of the stuffed-bread items, the myriad of baklava choices, or really anything else. However, there is one rule if you've never been to Sevan: Get the muhammara. If I go here and don't bring some back for my wife, it's probably best to not even tell her that I went. Also, the staff here is very friendly and enthusiastic. They're always looking to make sure that I have exactly what I need.
