14 Best Keto-Friendly Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Sevan Chicken snatches the crown for best quick-service Mediterranean-style rotisserie chicken from Zankou Chicken by offering a crispier skin and consistently juicier white meat. A smear of that addictive garlic sauce and it’s a keto-friendly meal on the cheap. Just be sure to skip any hummus and opt for the moutabal, an eggplant dip." - Euno Lee

I went to Sevan's yesterday. The last time I was there was about a decade and a half ago. While not much has changed about the restaurant aside from the removal of the arcade cabinet they used to have inside, the food has somehow gotten better than I remember. As a kid I remember really liking this place. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and I always left full. Now the food is even better than I was expecting and I leave stuffed! They do not skimp on putting food on your plate, you really can't go wrong here. Especially when they have weekday lunch and dinner specials.

Google
A very clean and immaculately tidy restaurant and dining area from what I saw that offered an excellent meal for a fair price. I had the Shawarma plate and it was one of the better ones that I've had. I will really have to try their chicken next time.

Google
Very good, flavorful, juicy chicken and very affordable. Nice indoor dining with AC and shaded outdoor dining available too

Google
Hey, there are better places for chicken, but the prices are insane right now! It's buy one, get one totally free!

Google
The food is unbelievabley good and u can not beat the prices go to say McDonald's and a basic combo meal will set u back close to $15 and that's the most low level of restaurants go to say the habit burger restaurant and Yes it's good but add bacon or guacamole b ready to spend $20 on a meal.... BUT SEVEN CHICKEN GET A HEALTHIER FULL PLATE WITH RICE 1/4 CHICKEN SIDE HUMMUS AND ONE OTHER SIDE SPEND ABOUT $12-$13 it's an amazing place outdoor seating area and indoor dining.... don't forget to get their special garlic sauce on the side

Google
I do not normally give negative reviews - however, I feel a duty to inform others who may be curious to try this place. 1) To start, they gave me moldy pita bread with green mold on it. When I informed them and recommended they look into it, they merely made the excuse that they purchased the bread in a bag from another company, so it is not their product. Not what you’d expect from a professional business or restaurant. They should maintain some respectable level of quality control regardless of where they purchase their supplies. 2) they attempted to significantly overcharge me at the cash register, over the list price, without explaining why. When I asked them about it, they simply changed the calculations and mentioned the mandatory 3.99% fee for those using credit cards. However, with the ~4% fee, it was several dollars lower than the original price they rang me up at. I ultimately paid at the price it “should” have been, post credit card fee, but not without asking them about it first. 3) additional charge for using credit - see above. Enough said. 4) there were flies inside the restaurant buzzing about and occasionally landing on my food. 5) I got the half chicken with 2 sides, and chose hummus and the eggplant dip (aka baba ghanoush to most folks). The chicken was decent though not particularly flavorful. However, the sides and sauces were a bland disappointment with limited flavor. 6) all in all, would highly recommend you consider supporting and eating at other businesses - ones who treat their craft, honesty, cleanliness, professionalism, and their customers, more seriously and respectfully

Google
I love this little place and wish there was one in Pasadena! (There used to be one). My faves are the chicken and lula kebab. Request juicy. Food is fresh and delicious. Fluffy rice and good hummus. The staff is friendly. Highly recommend!

Google
Started going to the original spot in Tujunga before this one was opened. Used to eat here regularly when I lived across the street. The food is still good but you don't get the same options as before and the last few times they didn't have what I wanted. Prices have jumped (a lot) and this started before "inflation". Although I checked the website for the prices when I arrived everything was more expensive. When I brought this to their attention they said the website wasn't updated. How is that my fault? Lastly the main thing that bothers me is they charge a credit card fee, and a high one at that. Recently I put in a large order for myself and some family and forgot about the credit card fee. Barley had enough cash on me. Tip: order online and pay by card. And tell them to remove the credit card fee.

Yelp
Best rotisserie chicken! I love their garlic butter and hummus. Everything tastes fresh, their dark meat chicken is juicy and delicious I highly recommend them! I drive from Altadena to Glendale when I'm craving their delicious chicken! I highly recommended trying their lunch specials!

Valentin S.

Yelp
It's expensive they gave you 1 day before food. Not fresh at all. I so regretted went there, please.People don't they have to fix their foods Test horrible old and expensive. And charge a lot.I'm so pissed off Waste of money. They charge a lot why they don't give fresh food. They just warm up old food. That's why they gave me so sad and creepy

Yelp
Sevan offers an extremely affordable, quick, and delicious dining experience! They have a small parking lot where you can snag a spot if you're lucky! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor space has a ton of tables and is shaded with clean windows. Falafel Sandwich - Delicious! The falafels were moist and came smothered in a tasty sauce! It also had lettuce, tomatoes, and onions inside that added a fresh quality to the wrap. A super satisfying and filling meal! 1/2 side of Dolma - Comes with 6 pieces. Loved it! Prices are cheap, service is quick, and the food is delicious! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Iv been visiting long time ago since the original owner in the 90.s..this time I took a whole chicken..it wasn't cooked right.. this is first time.. I put a review on there site..asking theme i have the recipe and suggested ( next time give me a 70% off of the price).when I bought the chicken it was late I couldn't return it almost closed..so the meat was hard to saperate from the bones..we couldn't eat it ..so my review on THERE SITE WAS DESAPPEARED. ..maybe because I asked for the 70% off.

Yelp
Sevan Chicken specializes in rotisserie chicken with a similar menu to Zankou Chicken (Armenian/Lebanese family mini-chain that is famous for their rotisserie chicken and middle-eastern fare), so it is hard not to compare the two. I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately the food cannot compare to Zankou's quality or their signature garlic sauce (toum). Sadly, Sevan Chicken doesn't have the same foot traffic as Zankou so the freshness of the food is not on par. Also, the GARLIC TOUM here at Sevan is HORRIBLE. Tasted like plain "Crisco shortening" with no hint of lemon or garlicky taste what so ever (gross!)... yes, the garlic sauce is everything when it comes to this style of rotisserie chicken. At best, the chicken is decent not great and the prices are inexpensive. Lunch/Dinner specials and Buy one or two- get one free deals are the main attraction.

Yelp
This is my 2nd visit. First visit was years ago but not spectacular so I have not returned until 2 weeks ago. Ordered whole chicken to go reasonable price and chicken tasted alright. With other choices in Glendale I will probably not return.

Yelp
Chicken is Good but customer service doesn't exist, you'll be afraid to even ask a question.

Yelp
The food here is sooo good. The chicken soup is the best thing when youre not feeling so great. The service is welcoming 10/10 will keep coming back

Yelp
This is the first time I've decided to do a review on the spot before leaving so I don't forget my experience. Red flag , the chicken plate I ordered, came with the chicken under temperature, at the most it was around 100* degrees which is not near the 165* recommended by health department standards. The rice was bland. Absolutely tasteless and soggy. They use parboiled riced . No good . The pita bread was already old and dry . The hummus was old and fermented already, and with an excessive amount of lemon juice added . The gentleman taking orders was very nice and polite , nothing compared to the chef making the food which questioned my wife's word when the hummus side dish was forgotten. I understand their cultural behaviors towards women but we are in America and businesses must follow American standards of customer service. Would I recommend this place ? Absolutely not!. I highly recommend Mini Kabob in Glendale and Alwazir Chicken in Hollywood. I am surprised this business is still open . No wonder they have buy 2 get one free special on their menu. I sincerely hope that they pay close attention to details and improve . Otherwise, I don't see them surviving these difficult times when other similar restaurants are doing better .

Yelp
I have only had tbe half chicken plate and sarma and both are delicious! The chicken is so tender and juicy, yet, also crispy on the outside. The service is excellent! I will continue getting food here anytime I crave chicken...

Yelp
Years later I was told that I should try their Beef Shawarma by a good friend of mine., so I did and I must say their Shawarma plate was delicious., the beef was sliced thinly with just the right amount of various sauces that they served (on the side) with a choice of my favorite Hummus and salad. Unquestionably the best beef Shawarma in Glendale for sure. I will be back.

Yelp
First time here! We usually go to Seasoning Alley, but our friend recommended Sevan. Two of us got a whole chicken dinner with hummus. Hubby got a falafel sandwich that was great and I got the chicken sandwich. Next time I will get some extra tahini or garlic sauce, because the sandwich was a little dry, even with the mayo. It is a good value for the money and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Never had a bad soup or chicken meal in the last 5 years making this my go to spot for anything chicken!!! To speed up your order take a minute and make and place it online they do a great job with having everything ready for you at the time they say!! The rotisserie chicken and chicken soup and chicken soup are to die for!!!
google avatar

Yelp
They should make this place the"Eighth Wonders of the World" for being in an Armenian community and serving the most disgusting kababs I have ever tasted in the history of my culture and stay in business for a decade! The most disgusting, unflavored kabab ever touched my tastebuds. Unbelievably shocked that my trash can ate it all!

Yelp
Sevan Chicken Rotisserie was on DoorDash. And so, I ordered pickup from them. Service was quick and simple. I usually eat vegetarian food there... However, we're in a pandemic. I must eat stronger. I ordered a deconstructed shawarma, because even sandwiches can get soggy. It cost more because the plate or styrofoam container holds more... I wasn't upset because they gave me a choice of two sides and complimentary gourmet pickle vegetables. Maybe it's beets and/or turnips. Weird looking pickles, because it's not a cucumber, but it tasted good. Sevan Chicken specializes in chicken. The bulk of the menu is rotisserie chicken meals. However, I recommend others to explore... Have dinner with an exotic side instead of soup or salad. This is a local family owned business in Glendale, California. You'll definitely like it.

Yelp
I've been eating rotisserie chicken from here for the past 3 years and have only now gone to the actual location. What can I say about the restaurant itself. It's a tiny place with no frills. Where this place towers over all other chicken places is it's amazing rotisserie chicken! Cooked to perfection and served as a meal with sides or A la carte. The a la carte still comes with pickled radishes in beet juice and a side of the best white garlic sauce you've ever had! If your looking for a beautiful high end restaurant to impress your girlfriend, go somewhere else but sometimes you don't care about that an just want great quality food. Although they do have an extended menu with lots of middle eastern dishes to choose from, the chicken for me is the BOMB! Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Been here a few times now. The chicken is consistently well seasoned and moist. Otherwise the menu is pretty limited. Skip the sides and just get the chicken. It's in the name. They do chicken. , but the rest is just ok. Employees not wearing masks, so I won't be back again for a long time

Yelp
the lady was annoyed when we walked in, i think we interupted her cigarette break!! sorry not sorry. The chicken was tastless, the french fries were .... tastless.
google avatar

Ko M.

Yelp
I gotta get here on the lunch special days. The kebab is what to come for. The sandwich is a nice lunch, but it varies on different days. So far, the kebab has always hit top marks. I'm a fan of the chicken dinner - especially if you like crispy skin. Get the moutabal. smokey eggplant flavor is so good.

Yelp
My family and I normally go to the one in Tujunga but I'm so happy we stopped at this location. Customer service was great! Friendly, attentive, yummy food and a nice quiet places to eat.

Yelp
What happened at Sevan Chicken? Is under new management? Just purchased Lula Kebab & Filet Mignon plates; rice portions are less than 1/2 what it used to be, maybe 15 fries, and 6 small pieces of filet medallions.
google avatar

Yelp
Great consistent rotisserie chicken dinner meal that's bang for your buck! The chicken is tasty and falls off the bone. I usually opt for the hummus and rice pilaf as my sides. They give generous portions of pita bread with your meal, sometimes the whole bag. The garlic sauce is good and doesn't have that strong lingering taste. If you go before 4pm you can take advantage of the buy one get one free lunch special. It includes two sides and 1/4 chicken with pita bread and garlic sauce. For just under $10 you get a full on meal for two people. During dinner time the deal is buy 2 get one free, but you get 1/2 a chicken. It's a great affordable option that isn't american fast food. I normally call my order in via telephone and it's ready as soon as I arrive, the service is good and consistent.
google avatar

Yelp
Disgusting. It was my first time here and right when I walked in it felt so damp and unwelcoming. I ordered take out and she completely messed up my order. No salad, no rice, just one kabob on pita. When I bit into the chicken it tasted sour and cold. It was literally raw the chunks were so thick I couldn't eat anymore. Disgusting literally I couldn't eat after. The dip they gave me instead of the salad was smelly and chunky just gross. Waste of 15$:( I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Please think twice before comming here.
google avatar

Alvin O.

Yelp
I'm came her at lunch and ordered food. I got the lunch special. I ordered my sides and I asked her if I can have rice instead of fries. She looks at me and says "now I have to start all over because you couldn't make up your mind" wow.... soooooo annoying. And the. She proceeded to go to the back and talk to the cook in her language. Hopefully she didn't tell him to spot on my food. This lady needs a major attitude adjustment.

Mercedes D.

Yelp
Always support family owner and operated businesses when you can. Yesterday for lunch we experienced excellent service and food. The young man who manages the front desk was so so so nice and well spoken. I had the falafels and they were the BEST!!!!!!!
google avatar

Norma L.

Yelp
Healthy, savory, generously sized portions. The chicken is of excellent quality. Staff is extremely helpful. Lunch deal is an excellent value! Glad we dropped by recently!

Yelp
Food is so dry here tastes like a rock service is ok but they're so stingy over there garlic sauce and there food is unedible with out it garlic sauce and chicken are great!! But the Luke's kabab is no good!

Yelp
I haven't had food from Sevan chicken in a looooooong time. For the holidays I picked up a bunch of food for the family and was not only delightfully pleased at the flavor and textures of the meal, but also the pricing. We got two value packs (2 whole chickens + 3 sides per chicken), 10 falafels (which come with some lettuce, chopped onions, and chopped tomatoes) and a large order of fries. For the sides we did two sides of rice per chicken (which ended up being quite a lot even for a group of 8 -- I'd probably should have opted for two sides worth of rice instead of four), one side of hummus, and one side of beans. Beans and hummus were really delicious, the chickens juicy and very tender (fell apart easily which is how I like it), and the falafels small and compact yet very flavorful. The fries were a little soft for my personal taste and the rice was also a little plain -- I think it was saffron rice potentially? Overall I really enjoyed it and it cost ~$58 for all of that food, which for me was a good price especially considering we've been subsisting off of leftovers for three days now.

Yelp
- Store bought coleslaw - Store bought moutabel - Store bought pita - Greasy unseasoned yet over salted meat - No garlic sauce in my bag - No utensils in my bag Shit food from a shit restaurant. Save yourself the trouble and don't even bother.

Mark R.

Yelp
To focused on telling me what I should order they got my order 1/2 chicken dinner wrong and gave me 1/4 chicken and over charged me.05/10/22

Yelp
A big fan of Armenian rotisserie chicken. I've been to zankou chicken which is known amongst the Armenian community, but sevan is up there with them. A smaller chain and hole in the wall. Not too busy and you can tell its family-owned. I ordered a whole chicken with a side of garlic spread. I added a side of falafel. Everything was great and fast. Chicken tasted exactly like zankou. It must be an Armenian marinade because its identical. Garlic spread is a must! I did give it 4 star instead of 5 because the second time around it seemed like the chicken wasn't fresh, but it was towards the end of the day so I understand. I will still go back. If you're looking for a rotisserie fix , this is it. Give it a try!
google avatar

Erik V.

Yelp
This review is solely based on their chicken. Its located pretty close to my house and we just moved the glendale so we thought we'd check it out. The chicken at this place was so fresh, juicy and hot! It was really great. The rice pilaf was meh and the hummus was very bland. The pita was just ordinary. Again, the 4 stars is just for their chicken.

Rina N.

Yelp
Thank you so much... love this place... I used to do order from here every weekend for my friends and family... specially thanks to Tigran for chicken and Hrach for excellent customer service )))) Thank you guys.. I'll come again))))
google avatar

Lindsey G.

Yelp
Ordered on grubhub because I felt like changing it up from my usual spot. What a mistake. Chicken was so so, all of the salads were way to salty and didn't taste fresh. Somebody really messed up the tabouleh because it was so salty my husband and I both looked at each other when we took our first bite and we both spit it out. We both love salt but this was obviously a recipe error made by whoever prepared it. The pita is not fresh, it's store bought which is really sad because pita isn't even that difficult to make. I won't be ordering here again.
google avatar

Erin J.

Yelp
I ordered this off of Postmates and it was so delicious. The rotisserie chicken was flavorful, moist, fall off the bone outstanding. The hummus is a must try as well. The only thing I was not too crazy about was the falafel. Definitely ordering from here again.
google avatar

Jordan R.

Yelp
Great business! Very friendly! Best neighbors I could ask for. Had their chicken and fries a couple of times which was okay, but their pita bread was great!!! I constantly will purchase soda from them when I am sick or feel under the weather and they are good at recognizing me. A little noisy at nights, but who's neighbor isn't? Absolutely wouldn't ask for any other neighbors!!! They are the best!!!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I used to eat here all the time. Every time I was in the area, I'd always stop by for a plate. For some reason both the hummus and chicken had a sour taste. Not sure if it was spoiled or if it was the seasoning. The chicken had an old, sour taste. My very last time eating here.
google avatar

Albert G.

Yelp
I love this place because everything is always fresh "made to order" and they're pretty quick with their service. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. They have the best lunch special deal in town and great family dinner specials. I just live their chicken and highly recommend it!
google avatar

Mel D.

Yelp
I guess they have a buy 1 get 1 free special at lunch so I got two plates for less than 9 bucks. One chicken breast with hummus and fries, and another leg/thigh combo with 2 sides and garlic.. yum!!! My go-to for a quick meal. Usually takes 5-10 minutes and I'm out. The cashier there around lunch is a very sweet woman! Thanks Sevan Chicken!

Yelp
How I miss this place! I loved it when I lived in Glendale. After years of seeing their cheesy low-budget commercials on cable, we were over there for an appointment at Kaiser, when we finally decided, we're right there, so why the hell not, and it was delicious! Better than Zankou by a mile. This little mom and poppish place is tiny and nothing to look at, but first impressions melt away as you take that first bite of juicy chicken (dark meat, at least - I don't like white meat). The skin is crispy and juicy too. This is also where the word "broasted" entered my vernacular. It's apparently some kind of frying process, despite the name sounding like a portmanteau of broiling and roasting. I also had the filet mignon kebabs once. They were juicy and flavorful, though I really don't think they were filet mignon. They were chewier than filet mignon, but not bad, and the flavor was pretty good. And the pita that soaks up all the juices gets really tasty (though messy) at the end. Their eggplant hummus is better than the regular hummus. That's all I've ever had there so I can't vouch for anything else. Service is not super chatty but I wouldn't call it rude. Curt, maybe. Could be a language barrier issue or cultural, I'm not too familiar.
google avatar

Belle D.

Yelp
This is my family's go to chicken spot! Our usual is the buy 2 get 1 free chicken dinner less than $20 & feeds a family of 4! Kids really enjoy their french fries but what I love most is their garlic sauce. I always order the chickens"well done" the skin is crispy & juicy!
google avatar

Mariana O.

Yelp
The chicken, the moutabal and the garlic sauce are definitely the biggest stars at this place (other than the nice lady that works there too!). I was always a Zankou fan but my boyfriend isn't into it, so we had to figure out how to fix my cravings without making him miserable. He suggested trying out this place around the corner from his house and I was kind of skeptical but was willing to give it a try. I'm really glad I did because the chicken is cooked just perfect and is insanely juicy. I love hummus but their moutabal steals the show, so now I just get double orders of it as a side and of course, the garlic sauce (I don't think I need to give it any adjectives because it's just an amazingly glorious GARLIC SAUCE).
google avatar

Haikouhi A.

Yelp
I ordered four different plates to go. The chicken was burnt and flavorless, the beef shawarma was the tasteless dry beef I have ever had, and the hummus tasted very odd. I regret not checking my order before I left the restaurant. I would not recommend this location.

A N.

Yelp
I like the half chicken plate. It's so great, I always get the same thing, with hummus and rice. I love the garlic sauce.
google avatar

Diana E.

Yelp
What can I say, extraordinary rotisserie chicken at a great value. Not to mention amazing service. So friendly, kind and accommodating. Such an easy and delicious pickup. Don't miss out on the yummy (non-institutional tasting) fresh garlic sauce. Drool! We love their buy 2 get 1 dinner special, or buy 1 get 1 lunch. Don't change a thing Sevan Chicken, you got it down to an art. We keep wanting to taste other menu options, but cave to their juice delectable chicken every time. May be next time...probably not. Eat more chicken friends. Lol!

roselynn c.

Yelp
Definitely one of my most favorite spots for rotisserie chicken! The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. My family and I have been coming here for years now and they have never disappointed us. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a juicy roasted chicken dinner.

Yelp
What's up with Armenians and their love for rotisserie chicken and garlic sauce? It's like they live off that stuff...in addition to BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes, drakar, and cell phone shops. "Brow Down" my homies. I remember going to the Sevan Chicken establishment when I was young and never went again for about 15 years. Yes, it's been around for that long. In between those 15 years, I became an avid customer of Zankou Chicken. I recently went on a rotisserie chicken comparison run, so I visited Zankou, Sevan, El Pollo Inka, and several other places to conduct my own taste test. Yes, I am nerdy but I don't believe all you Yelp reviewers since Yelpers either give something 5 stars or 1 star. Anyway, compared to Zankou, Sevan chicken is less salty. The garlic sauce is creamier and less garlicky. Less is actually better b/c during the comparison test it felt like the Zankou garlic sauce was just way overpowering. The pita bread at Sevan is also a little more fluffier and sweeter than that of Zankou. The downside of Sevan is the following: The whole chicken is cut into quarters rather than being provided whole like Zankou. I like my chicken whole when I order it b/c it keeps in the juices. You can't order one large side order of garlic sauce. They only provide little cups so if you have a whole chicken, you have to order a bunch of little cups of garlic sauce. That is annoying. Lastly, none of the Sevan restaurants are places you actually want to eat in. Just order to go. The restaurants feel like they were stuck in the early 80s with bright orange decor or bland gray decor. That's where the new Zankou locations excel.
google avatar

L T.

Yelp
Get 2 Dinners (2 whole chickens, 3 sides, garlic sauce) for $18.01 and get 1 Dinner FREE!! That's really not the only reason that brings me here. I've been coming to Sevan for years and their rotisserie chicken is why I keep coming back for more...plus the fact that they serve crinkle cut french fries :). I prefer them over Zankou any day for that reason. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and is always fork tender, no knife is needed. The meat just falls off the bone. You can order a combination of 1/4, 1/2, or whole chicken with basmati rice, garden salad, hummus, beans, or french fries and pita bread. One thing that is a must try is the garlic sauce. If you love garlic like I do, you have to try it, I can eat that with rice alone and be happy. It is that good. I dip my fries in it or add it to the pita with chicken and rice. I have noticed that eating a little more than one garlic sauce tends to make me nauseous afterward, though. I guess there really is too much of a good thing :(. Aside from the chicken and sides, I haven't tried anything else, but I'm sure everything is just as delectable. The service here is always fast and friendly. What's nice is that I can call in my order and have it waiting for me in 10 minutes. If you dine in, there is plenty of seating either inside or outside.
google avatar

Nope S.

Yelp
Look I still love Zankou since its closer to me, but SEVAN CHICKEN ROCKS! The garlic sauce here I think is so much better than Zankou's. The prices here are way less. Just as juicy & flavorful as their chicken too. Honestly I love both places. I'm Armenian but if I had a choice I would definitely pick Sevan. You have more variety at Sevan chicken than Zankou. Sevan has me hooked!

Yelp
Haven't been here in a while. It's a bit sleepy and lots of take out orders but they are running a good special right now. 2 dinner specials and get one for free. This equals to 1.5 chickens, 6 sides, pitas. Lunch special is buy one get one free. The decor is kinda barebones and the parking situation is interesting but the taste is still top notch.
