13 Essential Dallas Mediterranean Restaurants | Eater Dallas

"Tucked into a corner of Greenville Avenue, Sevan offers homemade Armenian food served by Armenian owners. The dishes might sound similar to offerings at other Mediterranean restaurants, but there’s an Armenian twist that must be experienced at Sevan. Oh, and it’s BYOB." - Rachel Pinn

Google
I stumbled across this restaurant while working and happened to have the best gyro I have ever had. It is run by a husband and wife that serve scratch made food daily. The meat was tender, the lettuce was crisp, all the veggies were fresh and the wrap was soft and warm. I have never inhaled food so fast in my life. Will 100% be back for more.

Google
Sevan G & G Cafe, a staple in Dallas, feels like a hidden gem right in the heart of Lowest Greenville. It serves authentic and tasty Mediterranean cuisine, provides attentive service, and offers an inviting atmosphere. With very limited indoor seating, expect a wait or get there earlier in the evening! BYOB!

Google
When I arrived I was starving so I ordered the Mazza appetizer, 1/2 of seven salad loaded with feta cheese and I ordered chicken kabobs. I took a tiramisu dessert to go and it was very good, garnished with a mint leaf, blueberries and strawberries! Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. When I arrived I was going to sit at a tiny table because I was alone but the lady insisted that I take a comfortable booth, she was very sweet! This will be a first of many visits!

Google
They're sampler of dips is he best in Dallas I've tried so far. And their pies are amazing and hot and delicious! I drove 30 min and I am walking out of here happy. Ordered the sampler is it was well cooked, medium well, juicy and tender very impressed.

Google
The food is absolutely delicious. Pistachio chicken is delicious, The baklava is perfect. I love the coffee from the ibrik coffee pot. .. ! I've never had a bad meal here, (chef's kiss)

Google
We ordered a Mazza Plate and the Pistachio Chicken. They were both delicious!! We also brought a bottle of Trader Joe's, "Moon X" 🍷 It is very smooth and low acidity🍷 The owners are super sweet and the atmosphere is amazing!

Google
First time here. I ordered widely from the menu, with some for me there and some to go for the family. Every bite of every dish was sheer perfection. Your food is made when you order it, so if you have the time, absolutely order the pistachio chicken. Bliss. My only, tiny bit of sad? They hadn't made the tiramisu, yet. So, we didn't get to try it. My husband is already planning the next visit, as he is a tiramisu fanatic.

Google
My favorite little gem! Truly the best hummus I’ve ever had, best falafel, best eggplant dip, best everything. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been, and I’m going back tonight for my anniversary. The BYOB is honestly better because you’re saving $$$. The owners are great. Service is fast, friendly & accommodating. Cannot say enough good things!

Yelp
I have been here twice and both times the food was impeccable! Grace is always our server, she remembers us by name and just so very lovely! Her husband is a jokester and also very lovely! Her gyro is beyon delicious, all of her hummus's are Devine ( there's one that features some sort of lamb with the sizzling pine nuts FANTASTIC) Obviously we are there for her pistachio chicken which is the star but the falafel is neck and neck! I enjoyed her falafel so much and her baklava is probably the best I've tasted as it's not too sweet which I love. Everything on the menu is really 5 stars so I mean. Eat away and enjoy!

Yelp
My husband was craving a Gyro so I searched in Yelp and came across this place. Pics looked yummy and they had great reviews so I was excited to try it. Welp turns out you can't get a Gyro at dinner time. Which for the life of me I cannot understand because they serve a Gyro plate. The server was rude, demanding, impatient and not very attentive. I ordered the chicken kabob - dried out chicken. Veggies and tzatziki sauce were good though. Husband had the gyro plate and he enjoyed it but it we spent a lot more money than we planned and I left completely unsatisfied. The inside of the restaurant was certainly cute. I would say that was the redeeming quality.

Yelp
An established Dallas restaurant that feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Lowest Greenville, Sevan G & G Cafe serves up the best Mediterranean food in the city. The restaurant offers a very limited amount of indoor seating with usually just one person working. Despite this, it feels warm and inviting inside - like eating in your grandparents' home. And, you'll always receive attentive service and mouthwateringly good food! BYOB!

Yelp
The Mazza plate was great. It had eggplant, hummus, tabouli and Domas. I don't care for domas or tabouli but the dips were tasty! My chicken sandwich (gyro) wasn't very good. The chicken was extremely dry. The Greek salad was delicious! The dressing had a lemon flavor to it. The lamb gyro tasted and looked much better than the chicken. Service was good but server didn't have the best attitude.

Yelp
My go-to Gyro spot! If you want an authentic, filling, and delicious gyro or any other Greek style meal, this is the place to go. I wish the outside was a better representation of what they have to offer because I drove past here for over a year due to the look of the exterior. Once you step in, it's like stepping into a family home with a friendly host and comforting decor. I truly wish I could gate keep this place to myself, but everyone should have the opportunity to see how amazing it truly is.

Yelp
It's been too long since my last visit but it's always my favorite spot on lower Greenville Ave to take family and friends for a delicious cashmere shrimp or anything Mediterranean...it's byob so come prepared and enjoy your favorite menu item. Service is always fast and friendly everything is made fresh and the baklava is incredible!

Theresa C.

Yelp
This place is my number 1 restaurant in Dallas! Best dish in Dallas.. the Kashmir shrimp, and the best babaganoush I've ever had! Family owned, and you can tell their hearts and passion are in the food they serve! I can't get enough! I always get the Greek salad & Babaganoush to start, and I never miss the Kashmir Shrimp! If you are looking for true, authentic Lebanese food. Look no further, and do yourself a favor and eat here!
google avatar

Franki H.

Yelp
Authentic! I love to come here for fresh, delicious Greek food. The owners are hard workers that love to serve quality food. You can taste the freshness of all the ingredients. The portions are large and very shareable. We always start with the Mazza plate that has stuffed grape leaves, hummus, tabouli, and eggplant dip. The stuffed grape leaves are some of the best I've ever had! We tried the gyro plate and kafta plate. The gyros were so good. I personally wasn't a fan of the kafta because it had too much cinnamon flavor; others at the table really enjoyed it. It's also BYOB so that's a bonus! It's small and intimate but comfortable.

Yelp
This place has become a Sunday lunch special for me. The food is delicious and healthy. Service is good and it still has a small restaurant atmosphere similar to if you were in Greece.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Hella good Mediterranean w bomb takeout specials. I haven't eaten inside the restaurant yet but I'm sure it's great. There's always a crowd there.
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
The gyro, salad, and fish plate are my favorites. I go here in the cooler months and sit outside on my Lunch break. Definitely a mom and pop feel to it when you walk in. Everyone there is friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
Sevan G&G is a hidden gem in Dallas. I am so sad that I have lived in this neighborhood for over a decade and didn't know about Sevan G&G Cafe until now. It's run by the sweetest family and the Mediterranean food was legit. Quaint atmosphere and BYOB. For all of you celiac and gluten free folks out there, everything on the menu is gluten free aside from the tabbouleh and the pita bread. This is now going to be one of my regular spots.
google avatar

Holly Z.

Yelp
Very cute place! Surprised I didn't discover this restaurant earlier even though I'm a frequenter of Lower Greenville. The exterior is very unassuming, but I loved the decor and the vibes. The food was also pretty spot on. Not overly heavy and tasted home-made. The grilled tilapia was very well cooked! I think next time I would order a protein-heavy appetizer to share as I did not feel 100% full after my main dish. Service was decent as well - our water cups were never empty! I would definitely return for more.
google avatar

Yelp
This had been the best Fresh food by far!! Friendly warm felt environment! I will Recommend This Place for couples to go out on a Date! Love The Dim Lighting. All the Decorations are beautiful!

Russ M.

Yelp
Good is excellent and terrific restaurant. BYOB makes it even better. In the regular rotation

Yelp
Really lovely family-run establishment. Food is cooked to order, so it takes a bit of time, but always comes out fresh and piping hot. The thyme pie is completely covered with thyme seeds and is incredibly flavorful. The namesake hummus is worth the upcharge, with its bits of tasty lamb bits and pine nuts. The hummus is also unbelievably smooth and creamy. We also enjoy the muhammara, a unique dip made with roasted red pepper and walnuts that is both sweet and savory. For mains, I've tried a few, and the kashmiri shrimp is probably my favorite out of what we've tried. It's a very light/thin curry with sweet chunks of pineapple, served with rice. Love having this mainstay in our neighborhood!

Monika A.

Yelp
Our first of many take out orders was AMAZING! We ordered a Gyro plate - the meat was thick & perfectly cooked. The homemade tzatziki sauce was so delicious that we must remember to order extra in the future. Hummus, Greek salad and pistachio chicken was all crazy good. Can't wait to eat at this cute BYOB on lowest Greenville soon!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Only thing to know before you go is they are BYOB, which is actually convenient since the liquor store is just next door. I loved the chicken, gyro meat plate. Of the Mediterranean spots nearby, this is my favorite. They aren't open late & do a busier lunch than dinner. The service is great and they have a patio for your pup too.

Faith S.

Yelp
Amazing! Best Greek food in Dallas! The gyro meat is just perfect! Also, the dip trio or whatever it's called is amazing as well!!
google avatar

C S.

Yelp
Tired restaurant but wonderful owners! Food average, nothing unique. Seasoned okay May try again and opt for some other options

Yelp
We had a lovely birthday celebration for my 77 yr old step dad. The stuffed grape leaves were his favorite and everyone loved the variety of kebabs. Falafel, and gyro we got. The restaurant was warm and inviting. My parents just moved to Dallas and I know they will be regulars at Sevan G&G!

Christina P.

Yelp
Seven is our favorite place to visit when we are in Dallas. We love how cozy and welcoming the space is and BYOB is an added bonus! All of our dishes were amazing and we all finished our plates. Will definitely be back!

Allison E.

Yelp
Always delicious, the pistachio covered chicken is a favorite, and their dolma, and the kebabs.... I love it all. It's a small and intimate restaurant, it can get a little noisy depending on other patrons
google avatar

Nikita A.

Yelp
I don't often review but this place deserves all the praise. Everything is so fresh, healthy and delicious - 1000% the spot if you're looking for authentic Greek Mediterranean my friends and I sat outside and the vibes were on point- thank you Grace for such a great experience

Justin M.

Yelp
Excellent food with many authentic flavors and really fresh ingredients. I had a Gyro wrap and Greek salad combo for lunch that was delicious and spent less than $15 on some of the best mediterranean food I've had in Texas. Very happy to have discovered as I will be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I have been eating here for well over a decade. Whatever you choose to eat you won't be disappointed. I love the Mixed Kabob which consists of one of my favorites the Kafta Kabob. This plate is to die for. I also love the chicken Tawook. But the crown jewel in my opinion is the Lamb rack. The lamb is perfectly cooked along with very tasty vegetables. We haven't even touched on their impeccable service and warm atmosphere. This is the REAL reason that I have been a loyal customer for well over ten years. And I won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I love this place!!

Nick J.

Yelp
10 stars!! We love the food here. We love the ambiance and the owners are super sweet. Our daughter loves the pancakes during brunch, like everything else here, they are homemade. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Harriet G.

Yelp
Great food. It's small, calm and quiet, you can actually engage in conversation in this intimate dining room. The prices are very good. Family owned and operated. A neighborhood treasure
google avatar

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Yummy food, great service! I had the Spanakopita and hubby had the Kafka. We will return when we are in the area.
google avatar

B M.

Yelp
Our favorite local restaurant!! Delicious, fresh, authentic Mediterranean food. Good portions, often enough to bring some home. We've tried all sorts of items from the menu, and all good. I'll give some examples the next time we go.
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Sent a friendly e-mail to the weird Hotmail account in the Contact section of their website asking about reservations. If they don't care to check e-mail and reply I don't care either. So looking at other Greek food options for Sunday.
google avatar

Eva M.

Yelp
Been loving this place for years. My go-to is the Mazza Plate. Since Covid, we haven't been going out much, but love getting take-out. The co-owner is so sweet and always seems to remember me. Love to patronize this family business. Taboule how my mom used to make it. SOOOOO yummy. I'm vegan so I don't go to a lot of "meaty" places, but this is the exception, and thankfully they make my favorites the best!

Elias F.

Yelp
Excellent food. Good grilled chicken. Also enjoyed the falafel. The owner is very nice. Authentic Mediterranean food and a great place to visit on Greenville
google avatar

Shauna H.

Yelp
Great Hummus and Turkish Coffee! BYOB too. Cute little place, that has become a fav!
google avatar

Trace H.

Yelp
My wife and I got takeout but we will be eating there next time. Very comfortable interior and the owner was so nice! We were excited to find this place so wanted to try a variety. We got the mouhamra dip, tabouli, pistachio chicken, Kashmir chicken curry, spanakopita and baklava. It was definitely enough food for dinner then lunch the next day and everything was SO GOOD! We are very happy to find this neighborhood spot.
google avatar

Lojeen H.

Yelp
From the reviews I thought the Sevan Hummus would be tasty. First I was charged the delivery price of $11.99 and not the menu price of $9.99. I went to the restaurant to pick up my order, not to have it delivered. The Hummus meat did not taste fresh. It was oversalted. I won't be eating there again. Not sure how they stay in business when the front door is locked with a sign "call and place an order".
google avatar

Kelly J.

Yelp
I love this little neighborhood family run restaurant. We always get the mezza plate, Greek salad and Chicken Tawook. Food is always fresh and service is friendly!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Excellent Med food, service, and ambiance, with price points delivering a solid value for the whole experience. It's been there for 14 years in its unassuming location, and I hope it stays there for a long time to come. Bonus: BYOB! We shared the mezza plate (nicely presented hummus, baba, dolmas, tabouli, and tomato wedges with pita slices) and a gyro plate served with nice fresh slices of meat, pita, tzatziki and some onion, iceberg lettuce, sliced pickle, and tomato. Both were delicious, with room for presentation improvement on the gyro plate (big chunk of lettuce, tzatziki in a plastic cup.) We will likely be back soon, with our own bottle of wine in tow.

Yelp
Had takeout from Sevan G&G today. It is just as delicious as I remember when we could sit down to dinner at this family owned cafe. We had the Mazza plate (a must- the best thing they make) and the mixed grill plate. Everything is fresh and tasty. Please order takeout from this gem on Lower Greenville. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Some friends and I went here for dinner this past Saturday night. Four of us arrived a little before 6:30 and we thought we had two more joining us. I swear the ladies working seemed really put off that we didn't have reservations. They said we could sit at the table that had 5 chairs (we did have a toddler with us), or sit at a table outside. We went outside to sit and a few texts later to our other friend we found out there was only going to be 5 of us total. That worked out since in the few minutes we were outside no one came out to check on us. We were able to seat ourselves at the table inside. We started with the humus plate and pita bread. Not my favorite. The pita was thin and the humus was just meh. My friends seemed to like it, though. I ordered the pistachio crusted chicken and that was gooood. The chicken was tender and the pistachio crust was not overwhelming like I thought it would be. It was a solid dish. It came with rice and veggies, but I was too full from the humungous chicken to eat much of that. I also took a bite of my friends curry chicken, and it was really good too. Overall not a bad time and the main course made up for the humus. PS - this place is BYOB.

Matthew B.

Yelp
The female owner was really rude when I called for a take out order at 7:45pm. She said everyone wanted to go home and the night was almost over! It was strange. The food is good, too expensive and not a large portion, but good. However the rudeness is not necessary and I won't spend any more of money there.

Amy S.

Yelp
Delicious! My go to is the falafel sandwich, best I've had in Dallas. Food tastes really fresh. Their prices are also very reasonable for Greenville Avenue.

Dante G.

Yelp
Hidden Gem! If you want great food please try this place! This restaurant is owned by a husband & wife and they are super friendly.
google avatar

Nicholas P.

Yelp
No wonder this place has five stars! If you like Mediterranean you'll love this place. We had take out and the staff was extremely nice upon picking up. I honestly don't think I've ever had fresher ingredients in my dishes. Greek salad was beautiful with ripe tomatoes, shaved feta and greens, not one piece of dead lettuce. We ate it too fast to take pictures. I hope this place is here for a very long time

Julia B.

Yelp
Best Greek salad in Dallas!! Also highly recommend the hummus - 10/10 Nicest owners and staff too!

Coby Z.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Because of covid I only order takeout but so glad for this hidden gem! The Dolmas and Hummus and pita bread is the best! I highly recommend to all my friends and colleagues!

Martha M.

Yelp
We FINALLY found our go-to for gyros. These are the best. Look no further. The meat is tender. The tzaziki is delicious.

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
This place is awesome when it comes to great food and a family atmosphere. All food is made from scratch and is awesome. It's our favorite place to go on Greenville. Did I mention it's byob? Since its family run, it's like your dad cooking in the kitchen and you can not rush perfection. So bring a bottle and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is worth the wait.

Kurt V.

Yelp
The food is good , but the service is awful. The female owner is very rude , made me feel unwelcome. Decided to leave before we placed our order .
