"This whiskey bar feels like a cross between a sophisticated cocktail lounge and a hunting lodge. Exposed brick walls with taxidermy, moody lighting, pool tables, and tufted leather seating (and the occasional live jazz or blues) round out the vibe, striking an impressive combination of laid-back and upbeat. One side of the bar is packed with over 400 bottles of bourbon, rye, and scotch. The other is packed with quite a few groups having their version of a guys' night out here. Most everyone shares a common passion for refined brown liquors. If that's what you're looking for, this is the optimal place to kick off a night out with craft cocktails and games of pool." - Jenna Scatena

Google
The BEST whiskey sour I’ve ever had! Charlie was our bartender & he was such a peach! Will definitely be back.

Google
Heaven on earth? Huge selection whiskey bar + rum bar + tequila & mezcal bar. Nuff said. Excellent whiskey bartender with lots of knowledge and willingness to explain and recommend. You can sample a bunch by doing 1oz pours.

Google
Great spot for bourbon and cocktails. The staff was fantastic. Our bartender was knowledgeable and accommodating. The bourbon list was extensive and has some local flavor to it. When we were here they had live music. Pretty cool spot for locals and tourists, alike. Bring your girlfriend here. She'll love it.

Bryan

Google
Underrated spot for pool they are also connected to a decent tequila bar next door. Good for a chill time with a cocktail and some pool. The decor is also pretty vibey.

Google
The atmosphere was great as well as the service and drinks. We came on the wrong day for live music. I had a couple of cigars, but they didn't have cigars that I was used to smoking. We had a taco from another establishment inside Seven Grand, but it was not good.

Google
Seven Grand is a pretty fancy bar for whiskey and tequila. They have a good selection of both. The amazing thing is that they have separate sections for both liquors! Nice seating area both inside and outside. Charming bar shelf beautifully decorated. The bartender seemed very knowledgeable. Their cocktails didn't surprise me too much but the whiskeys were amazing, especially the smoked ones.

Google
Came here for the bourbon selection. Scanned the QR code and was thrilled to see a bunch of great bottles listed at reasonable prices. Disclaimer was that the list wasn’t an inventory list. Expectation was that they’d have some of the decent stuff. They didn’t. Many of the bottles listed are ones that they’ll never see again, so why not update the list? Staff wasn’t service oriented either. Curt, unfriendly staff. Would never recommend.

Google
They have a really great selection, I mean it is not an easy job to offer 700 different whiskies. I want to especially thank to TJ for the great service and recommendations.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Seven Grand. The two male bartenders I interacted with were very knowledgeable and helpful. One was super friendly and told a story about every whiskey he recommended. All of his suggestions were spot on! The ambiance was enhanced for me by the pride flag hanging in the window. The taxidermy was funny to me, but very thematic. I didn't explore the bar so much as the whiskey selection. Definitely more of an experience than just a bar.

Yelp
What a great spot! Having lived here for 11 years, I don't know how we haven't come across this somewhat, not somewhat, hole in the wall. Definitely would definitely recommend it. Starting off with the welcome by Matt. Having cycled, Matt was quick to offer keeping an eye on my locked bike as he managed the door in the Texas evening heat. As you walk in, you instantly feel a speakeasy vibe with a classic wall of whiskey and bourbon. Hans was ready for any order you may have in mind, whether it be a choice neat or on the rocks, a happy hour favorite (HH 5-8 PM), or spirit cocktail. That's not it, folks. While one may think this is just a whiskey speakeasy, you walk down the shotgun bar to the back patio and to the left you will find yourself upon a Tiki Bar. Yes, you will feel the heat, but you will also feel like you stepped out of Texas and the Painkiller made by Oscar is perfect to match the need for a refresher. Still not it! As you round the right corner of the patio, you can grab tacos made to order at Asador Tacos before stepping into, what seems, an authentic tequila cantina. Full shelves. Tequila and Mezcal. Happy Hour at each bar; separate bars, but same establishment and tab. Prepare yourselves. I mean, how can you not try one thing at each bar? Right?! Cheers!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while visiting. Super cool find. This is the first whiskey bar I've been to, I loved the ambiance--felt very retro but still modern. The bar shelves were stocked with every whiskey imaginable. I tried a few cocktails, but my favorite was the bartender's suggestion of single pours. He asked what flavor profiles I was looking for and found me the perfect match. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town

Taylor M.

Yelp
3 bars in one! You can go to the whiskey bar, the tequila bar, and the rum bar. Each one has a unique vibe and they are all connected by a patio where you can buy delicious tacos.

Dan K.

Yelp
Just a fantastic place. This is a must. Almost wanted to post 1 star so no one goes in here and it becomes more crowded. It's that great of a place.

Bryan K.

Yelp
Technically I'd say this is a dive bar but it has the best scotch and bourbon selection in Austin so there's that! Staff is friendly and the pool tables run true. Live music is appreciated and they were quite good. Good vibe here.

Brenda P.

Yelp
My boss and I decided to take a stroll through downtown Austin on a Wednesday evening. Not a bad choice if you're looking for quick service since the night is young and its a Wednesday of course. We stumbled up Seven Grand on our way back to our hotel. This is bar is also attached to a tequila bar and they wrap around so its pretty cool if you have time to make your way through this bar setup. The inside looks like a man cave, dark and mysterious and relaxing. The bar is really long with plenty of barstool seating. There are pool tables as well. Our bartender was quick on her feet, attending to all the thirsty customers. I ordered an old fashioned and it was made just how I like it, growing hair on my chest and all. Strong yet sippable. For me...my taste buds are lightweights. Super cool spot if you have time to stop in! Definitely recommend it.

Dora S.

Yelp
I came here on a friday night for a friend's birthday. I was surprised to see such a classy spot on the corner of dirty 6! A hidden gem for sure. There were pool tables and some seating. I loved the dim lighting. We really enjoyed grabbing a few cocktails and catching up. Pool tables were really full so we werent able to get a game in but maybe next time! Service was very quick, we did not wait very long when ordering at the bar.

David P.

Yelp
A quiet whiskey bar on one side and pool tables on the other. Great selection with a knowledgeable and helpful staff. Tried multiple 1 oz pours so I could sample more. Great tacos on the patio that you can bring to the bar. A great way to decompress from too much Sixth Street.

Stephan M.

Yelp
This place is such a a gem with nice vibes from the music the service the history and the deers everywhere which is so different and just overall amazing and I definitely can't forget the bartender Mackenzie she was so amazing and friendly and just overall good to have a conversation with wile my coworkers stop by to grab some drinks

Kenny L.

Yelp
We love this whiskey bar! The bartenders are so sweet and nice. And the selection is great. We love to smoke cigars so they have a nice patio outside where you can smoke and enjoy your whiskey. They didn't have many cigars there so I recommend bringing your own cigars. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of a winter freeze when we were there so we didn't get to enjoy smoking cigars outside but will definitely be back to try it. They also have another bar connected to the patio which is really cool. This is a great place to take in the old school whiskey bar ambiance and we will definitely be back for another drink and possible smoke a cigar!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Attached to Las Perlas next door if you need a snack (they share the back patio). Whiskeys from around the world are displayed floor to ceiling and surrounded by old hunting cabin decor, complete with a pool table and casual patio. The patio is cigar friendly, btw. The bartenders get slammed crafting cocktails for the crowd, but they'll get to you shortly and help you select the perfect libation to carry you through the night. Tip: there is (usually) a bar open out back. Live music plays most nights and a jukebox fills in the open timeslots. They often host whiskey tastings from distributors to help you learn more and get to know their menu offerings.

Robert A.

Yelp
A nice spot that wasn't crowded on a Saturday night. Plenty of room with three different spirit focused bars. Three free pool tables which I enjoyed. Drinks were recommended by the server snd in point.

Kristal O.

Yelp
Not sure who does the tacos but they were so tasty! Made fresh! Love that this place is a classy whiskey bar, crazy tequila bar and on weekends a rum-tastic bar. Cute outdoor space too! Service seems a little hit or miss if you come around shift change or breaks without much communication but everyone when helped were so nice and knowledgeable. Best part? They use REAL EGG WHITES for their whiskey sours (yes, that's a big deal)

Kevin W.

Yelp
Seven Grand is a DTLA staple. It was good to see a hometown favorite in Austin. Not located on the popular 6th street in DTA. They area a street over in a quieter area. Great spot if you are into whiskies and bourbons. The bar makes you drool. They do not have the whiskey member cage like the one in LA. Good chill atmosphere. Place to hang and have a sip. Weller 12 - $25 - Not a bad price for a hard to find pour.

CarolynEv S.

Yelp
Classy ambiance, playful scene with Pool tables and Fun Live Music, delish Drinks from 3 different bars, fresh authentic Tacos and Good Vibes all around!

Danielle R.

Yelp
Eloquent bar, you can feel the vibe when you step in. It's cozy and classy without being overly done. Pool tables help keep your phone out of your hands for a few while enjoying curated cocktails made for any taste buds. The bartender TJ was immensely helpful is helping us pick out which whiskey and even gave us a little insight into making the perfect old fashioned.

Gary C.

Yelp
Great whiskey bar right next to sixth street, not as chaotic. Lots of great whiskey and the bar tenders are friendly and knowledgeable Tried a texas single malt from nearby and it was really good. Heard some great story about it

Josh W.

Yelp
This place is perfect - connected to two other bars and a taco counter via an outdoor patio. The selection is phenomenal, and the skill and knowledge of the bartenders is unmatched. Being able to get a peaty Islay Scotch and a perfect Mai Tai in the same place is something I never thought I'd find. Great decor and vibe, the staff do a great job of keeping things moving even at its peak.

Monica A.

Yelp
Went with a group of friends during an Austin weekend getaway around April 2021. My friend is really into Mezcales and some of us were really into whiskeys so Seven Grand was the perfect place to check out! The bar staff is very knowledgeable on their products and can even provide input based on what flavor profiles you're looking to taste and experience. We had a whiskey flight with Japanese options and boy was it amazing! Some were so rare that the business had a lengthy process in order to source some of the bottles. We also ordered some apps since we were having some serious drinks and they were fresh made, tasty and generously portioned (hello Texas!) I love Austin! And this place will be added to the rotation on every trip! Cheers!

Jessica S.

Yelp
Came for the "old fashioned made the right way" and received as promised. There was live music on a Thursday evening, indoor and outdoor seating, and pool tables that seemed to be open to all patrons. Although with live music the tables surrounding the stage and even the bar were rather loud, there were still quiet tables around the edges and then of course outdoors. The whiskey selection was impressive, though the cocktail menu was surprisingly short. Overall, we were satisfied with our old fashioned and Manhattan and wouldn't mind wandering over again.

Yelp
Not advertised as in Google. Very dark old bar. I am sure it's a great spot for locals. Close to the homeless shelter. Best item was the taco bar outside.

Cassie C.

Yelp
Solid place--guava marg was on tap which usually means less boozy, but it was good here. Horchata drink was also really good. The music was a little too loud for conversation and the guacamole at the place in the back was bland, but otherwise it's a good spot. I'll definitely go here again!

David S.

Yelp
Good cocktails, casual atmosphere, good music. I went here on a work trip. We almost had the place to ourselves and a few other folks.

Bob Z.

Yelp
Fantastic selection of whiskey, a little overpriced but you don't come to downtown Austin looking for deals. The servers are nice and the place felt really chill. I think its a great place for someone to try all kinds of spirits in a comfortable setting. Tequila bar next door, and there is even a rum bar at the back. Great experience.

Josh M.

Yelp
Grab some chips and guac (skip queso) from Asador, a Gentleman's Buck, and play pool! Great service!!

Tom B.

Yelp
Best service, cleanest bar near 6th. Just take a few steps and you will be so much more happy in choice of bar. Matt with security is awesome friendly! And Charlie behind the bar... great night thanks guys. Seriously forget every bar on 6th. Best place in Austin hands down!!!! Free pool tonight also! Sweet!

Shradha A.

Yelp
Average selection and okay service. Has expected a better collection and more of an experience given the focus on whiskeys.

Van N.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I am guilty of coming here at least once a week...and I have yet to leave a review...yet I am in love with this place 1. They have a HUGE selection of whiskey, bourbon, scotch, honestly whatever you wish. 2. Happy hour is till 8pm. Lets be honest, who else has happy hour till 8pm with hand-crafted cocktails?!?! No Becky no jack and coke for you...well if you insist. But really hand made drinks, with love :) 3. Service is just wonderful 4. That taco stand in the back is bomb! And most of all. If you're looking for a bar that adheres to covid safety standards THIS IS YOUR BAR. I'm so proud of them for taking all the precautions. Come here yall!

Michael E.

Yelp
Has the widest selection of bourbon, scotch, tequila, mezcal that I personally have seen in austin. The staff is nice and the ambiance is great It's definitely not the most inexpensive place but with the variety and ability to try something you may never had tasted, is worth it alone My wife ordered a mixed drink and it was ok. I just ordered some scotch neat so you can't really mess that up and it was delicious. There are better places to go for a cocktail, but if you are looking for a wide selection, you should absolutely check this place out

Willis C.

Yelp
From the entrance to the back patio, this is one amazing spot! The entrance is setup whereas on the left is Seven Grand on the right is Las Perlas (a mezcal bar). After having our ID, we headed to the left to see what Seven Grand had to offer. To my surprise, upon entering we encountered one of the longest bars I have ever seen. As for the bar, while they have other things, it was primarily stocked with whiskey. On the opposite side of the bar was seating (tables/chairs), a few pool tables along with an area where a small band was playing. We quickly found a spot at the bar where we placed our drink order before making our way to the seating area. In addition to the seating area, there are plenty of seats at the bar which seemed to be a very popular place to hang out. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and attentive; one friend was unsure what to order so they suggested a beverage, crafted and served it to her. She was super happy with the drink and ordered it a second time. After being inside for a while, a few of us made our way to the back patio which is very spacious. While we did not order anything, there is food available on the patio. The patio is shared with the Las Perlas (the mezcal bar) that is connected so we walked into it for a few minutes to check out the scene before returning to Seven Grand. Overall, Seven Grand is an interesting but fun spot. Based on appearance, it seems like it wants to be more of speakeasy as the lighting is low which goes well with all the dark wood throughout the space. The fact that it has pool tables gives it more of a bar feel. Either way, I am a fan as I had a great time and enjoyed several tasty adult beverages. I will return the next time I am in Austin.

Yelp
Best 6$ happy hour old fashioned (with Bourbon). The drink was well made by a very nice bartender who wrote us a list of restaurants and bars to check out in Austin! The drinks here are better, no the best mixed out of all bars we tried in the dirty 6th Area. Though it's one of the locations out of the three (San Diego and Denver), it left a strong impression of the large library of whiskeys from Kentucky and Europe. It felt like a classy gem hidden in the other rowdiness. If you want some good whiskey and a quieter time, come here.

Anh N.

Yelp
Awesome venue with a very long bar! Located next to Las Perlas (awesome mezcal bar) and the two are connected via their patio out back! All workers are fun and vibrant! Live music all the time and they allow you to get drinks from Las Perlas next door and bring it over if you're not a whiskey drinker. Try the tacos out back in the patio delish! Extensive whiskey collection proudly displayed. Great vibes.

JT G.

Yelp
I recently had a longer trip in Austin for work. This was an excellent Whisky Bar not only was the staff extremely knowledgable but also friendly. The bar seems to like playing classic Action Hero movies like Face Off and Die Hard. Additionally one Tuesday while I was there they had a local Jazz band. Great selection, great prices, and a great atmosphere. A++

Olivia K.

Yelp
Came to Seven Grand because an Uber driver told me about it. Great lowlight atmosphere, perfect for a fun night of great drinks and playing pool. Don't come if you're looking for a crazy bar scene, this is definitely more of a whiskey lounge and pool hall.

Alexis B.

Yelp
I wandered into Seven Grand with some colleagues when we were staying in a nearby hotel for a work conference. The vibe was good (pool tables, TV playing Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), but the service wasn't great (definitely felt like we annoyed the bartender in some way). My drink was one they keep on tap, and it was a little on the sweet side for me. A whiskey bar can be fun, but I wouldn't rush back to Seven Grand based on this first experience there.

Charlie R.

Yelp
Fantastic cocktail bar. Helped me discover some new bourbons and showed me other great brands that I'm looking to add to my collection.

Douglas S.

Yelp
I visited Seven Grand while on a work trip to Austin and have to say it's one of the most amazing bars I've visited! They have 500+ different whiskeys a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Whiskey library and tasting service No food. Nice people. Tacos in the back (kinda) Thorough menu. Very reasonably priced (how do they stay in business?) Boilermaker combos are $6 for A Shot of whiskey and a short beer Happy hour is $5 for a Fancy cocktail Bartenders are helpful.

Leila R.

Yelp
This LA transplant is handsdown my fav whiskey bar in ATX! The vibe & ambiance is great and any time ladders are involved to reach bottles, you know you are in for a treat! What really sells this place for me though is the bartenders and their whiskey/scotch/bourbon knowledge. They aren't those that BS you and you know they are legit when you know what you are talking about and they speak your language! I LOVE that they have drippers to cut your drinks when served neat. That says a lot, in my book. I also love that they have the full range of affordable to lavish, so whatever booze budget you are on, you will find something palatable here. I enjoy that you can talk shop w/any of the bartenders and they will share their opinions and appreciate yours and make excellent suggestions and recs based on your tastes. So whether you are a whiskey aficionado or newbie or just looking for a chill place to have a great drink and play a game of pool or enjoy a nice little patio, this is the spot!

Mark S.

Yelp
This is my favorite whiskey bar in Austin. It's a MUST for me every time I am in Austin. The selection is....well....grand! The servers are friendly and knowledgable. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who served my party when I was there in February. She was the best!!! If you enjoy whiskey or are interested in it, I highly recommend a visit to Seven Grand.

Stacey V.

Yelp
We love this bar. If you are looking for a huge selection of spirits and a laid back place come here

Todd S.

Yelp
If you're a whisky drinker, great spot! Pool tables inside and DJ outside! Hidden gem!!

Kamron A.

Yelp
Cool spot in Austin if you like whiskey and bourbon! Great drinks and selection! Pool tables to chill at and outdoor seating! Enjoyed my old fashions and some great conversations!

Max K.

Yelp
Good selection, but most were seriously overpriced. I tried asking the bartender questions about some of the whiskies, but he was unable to answer and didn't offer to consult someone who could talk about the whiskies with me. I was hoping to find a new great whisk(e)y, but ended up ordering a cocktail. Making matters worse, when I compared my receipt to my credit card, the bartender overcharged the tip that I left. Not only did he not seem to know much whiskey, but he also doesn't seem to have much integrity.

Louis C.

Yelp
Great selection, fair prices and the tacos are absolute fire, was skeptical getting food at first Cause it didn't seem like anyone was eating but extremely glad I did. got a pour of stagg jr for 15$ which is nearly impossible to get back home at a reasonable price so i was pumped

Amanda S.

Yelp
Extensive and impressive whiskey selections. I didn't know what to expect because the bar was dark and almost resembled a lodge of some sort, but the bartender was super nice and was really knowledgeable about the liquors/cocktails he suggested. To my suprise, there was a nice patio and taco bar in the back which was super nice! Overall, good time here and will return again the next time i'm in Austin.

Rob P.

Yelp
Seeing as how I currently live down the street from Seven Grand in San Diego, I wanted to give the new Seven Grand in Austin a try. It was actually really eerie how similar the layout is. If I didn't see the back section, I'd think I was in San Diego. We came pretty late, and there weren't many people here. It's actually a weird spot, just a block from the craziness of Dirty 6th, to have an upscale cocktail bar. We played a game of pool real quick before bouncing. OK, well it wasn't so quick because we suck at pool. I didn't have a drink but my friend had a double G&T, I believe, and was charged $17. Seemed pretty pricey, and the bartender wasn't too friendly. "Is the pool table free or it takes quarters or....?" "Quarters." It seemed like she was just over it. Maybe she just had an off night. So many fun bars in Austin, not sure when I'll make it back to Seven Grand. I like the San Diego location a lot, so hopefully I'll give it another try and it'll be a better experience next time.

Ojus P.

Yelp
Came on new years eve for a pre dinner drink and loved it. Huge and beautiful whiskey selection, friendly bartenders who work quickly and know their stuff, fun atmosphere. I was able to take advantage of a pre 8pm happy hour with $6.50 drinks. Got the draft old fashioned and gold rush. Both were great - well balanced, quality ingredients. I would be fine paying $12-15 so the happy hour price was amazing.
