Yelp
As a veteran, I like supporting other veteran businesses. That said, I found myself in Aliso Viejo and in need of a coffee. A quick search pulled up Seven Seas, claiming to be "veteran-owned"...decision made.
While waiting for my order, I think I overhear one of the baristas say "dumb a** conservatives". Thinking there's no way she said that, I start paying attention to the conversation between her and her coworker. She says it again...
Barista 1: "Dumb a** conservatives think these songs are for them...I'm like, no! (lol). Like that Creedence Clearwater Revival song, you know which one I'm talking about?"
Barista 2: (lol) "Yeah."
Barista 1: "I'm like no, that's not for you! (shaking head) Dumb a** conservatives!"
Look, people are entitled to their opinions, but here are some basic facts:
- The vast majority of veterans and people in the military are conservative.
- This business is trying to capitalize on it's veteran-owned status to win business, presumably from conservatives (see above).
- This business also hires people who rant and rave about "dumb a** conservatives" in their tiny coffee shop in a voice loud enough to be heard over espresso machines and the (apparently mandatory) coffee shop hipster playlist.
- I'd feel the same about someone yelling "dumb a** liberals"...it's uncalled for in a place of business.
Now I'm sure this review will delight some of the blue-haired, mask-wearing NPC's that want people to know their pronouns.
However if you're a veteran or proud American, or perhaps even part of the silent majority that took down Bud Light, and you're looking for something non-Starbucks while supporting a veteran-owned business, then keep driving...this ain't the place.
