17 Remarkable Coffee Bars to Discover in Orange County

"Despite the walls and the logo, an American-style tattoo is not a prerequisite for entrance to this charming coffee shop; instead, all are welcome and greeted with resounding warmth from the staff. This is the type of place where employees know everyone’s name and all of the beverages are tasty, especially the lavender honey latte." - Jordan Morosco

Google
NOW we have great coffee and toasts. They are definitely spoiling us. SO GOOD, we got them home as well. From one cup we could make keurig, or pour over or french press coffee as well :). Great cup of coffee and toasts every time :))) the update after four years - now they have wide selection of avocado toasts, I still prefer classic and I am planning to try another ones as well. Next time I would ask for less salt and less pepper for classic avocado toast. And they have fancy protein snacks now I am planning to try as well. Great place as always.

Google
Absolutely the worst croissants I’ve ever had. Take a Costco 12 pack of croissants, leave them out to get stale, and pay for them here. They also added and charged for stickers on our mobile pick up order that we didnt ask for or want.

All the workers are super nice! I came on Sunday morning and there's a guy named Chris who made me his recommended drink. It was amazing, the environment is so welcoming with many pet owners!

First off, I am soo glad that Seven Seas is open at 6AM. I understand that the general Aliso Viejo area might be a sleepy hollow, but, even if you’re a not a chain coffee spot, you owe it to yourself and your potential customers to open up well before 8AM. Second, the coffee and food here is absolutely solid. While I got a nitro coffee (divine) and a butter croissant (yum), there is a whole smattering of other equally as tasty looking coffee drinks and baked goods. Can’t wait to return!

We often look for new hikes to do and were in the area. Along with that we like to find unique coffee shops not just your typical chains. Found this place thought we check it out… also great it’s veteran owned and ran. Thank you for making this county such a blessing to live in. Driving in it kinda looked like this super modern industrial area and we discovered that this place is unique… It’s kind of a main street lined with palm trees and a walkway with businesses on the main level and possibly apartments above… right across the street from this coffee shop is a huge concrete parking structure… Absolutely perfect to park your car in the shade and away from door dents. I would consider this a destination coffee visit if you’re cruising around in your classic car. It was a Saturday mid day when we were there and the area is super quaint and quiet… they should start a Cars and coffee on Saturday mornings right down this main street… It would be awesome!! Being there for the first time, the staff was incredibly friendly and patient with us, helping us choose what to get. We got something called a cherry bomb, which has a double shot of espresso and a hint of cherry flavor, slight hint of mocha, but not overpowering… It was a very unique drink and iced was very refreshing. As far as indoor seating area, there’s only two small tables, but hey… This is Califonia. There was all sorts of seating outside and across the street in the sort of a office complex with tables and additional seating. We walked up and down the main street looking at some of the businesses and just enjoying the moment… If you are a local in this area, you should certainly visit Seven Seas and make it your regular coffee shop… If you’re looking for a cool place to cruise to on a coffee date we would highly recommend it! And classic car guys… You gotta check this place out if you like coffee.

Google
Exceptional Coffee & Atmosphere at Seven Seas Roasting Co. I recently visited Seven Seas Roasting Co. in Aliso Viejo and was thoroughly impressed. The cappuccino I ordered was simply outstanding—rich, aromatic, and perfectly crafted. The blend of flavors was remarkable, showcasing the expertise behind their brewing process. The space is intimate, with a cozy vibe that makes it perfect for relaxing or having a casual conversation. Despite its smaller size, the café offers a diverse range of products. You’ll find not only an excellent selection of coffee but also unique merchandise like sweaters, caps, and even freshly baked croissants and other treats. One of the standout features is how dog-friendly the café is. They even have a dedicated board with pictures of dogs that frequently visit, adding a lovely personal touch. The outdoor seating area is ideal for enjoying the peaceful surroundings, and the easy parking makes the whole experience convenient. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, contributing to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or looking to spend a peaceful afternoon, Seven Seas Roasting Co. is a gem in Aliso Viejo. Highly recommended!

Google
Espresso beans excellent. All drinks are delicious. Menu offers seasonal drinks. Walking distance from my home so I feel so lucky to have a boutique coffee shop nearby with wonderful employees too. I recommend the dark chocolate mocha 🤤

Google
Great local coffee shop epitomizes a hidden gem. The variety of changing lattes keep the menu fresh seasonally. Highly recommend the Chaga latte with Mac milk and their current triple coconut latte. Better than the lattes are the employees. Great people. Highly recommend their loaded avocado toasts. Only thing that could make this shop better is a toaster oven for some amazing sandwiches.

Yelp
I've been a regular at seven seas for about two and a half years. They've been by far my favorite coffee shop in that time. However, their espresso hasn't been as good lately. It's apparent that it isn't the same as before. It used to have a nice creamy medium body, but now it doesn't have that. This isn't just one or two off drinks that I've had either. It hasn't been the same for a while and it's worse. Perhaps they are roasting it differently now, because it still tastes the same with every drink I get, just worse than before. I wish they would fix whatever the problem is because I loved how it used to taste. Unfortunately, this has led me to frequent other coffee shops, and I don't find myself going back to my old favorite.

Yelp
Solid little coffee shop in an unassuming spot. Not too many places to sit, so more of a grab and go set up. But the coffee here is solid. I saw "dirty earl," must have :P Basically their latte with a house-made earl grey syrup. It was just so rich and creamy, and the espresso super clean. The earl grey flavor was very subtle, a pleasant note rather than overwhelming. Delicious. Although a bit of a drive for me, I might have to make my way back at some point. It's a bit pricier, but on par with other specialty cafes.

Yelp
Super cute! A girlfriend took me here this morning & I had no idea this little area existed! I got a vanilla latte with oatmilk, it was good. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
When I fly in from Iowa, I make sure to make this one of my stops at least once before I head back home. Their espresso is divine. I typically get a double shot latte or cappuccino. Try their handcrafted flavors. The last one I experienced was the blackberry vanilla. Lots of flavor without being overly sweet!

Yelp
Fantastic little coffee shop! We are into coffee shops and this one delivers. We ordered the Cortados-chocolatey,nutty, not bitter. The pour over was excellent. Highly recommend the avocado toast. Great job Seven Seas! 5

Doree S.

Yelp
Best coffee around, I fill a growler weekly with their cold brew so I can just drink their coffee daily! The avocado toast might seem pricey but is worth it! They have very fun seasonal coffees that are always unique and the staff is so friendly! The cashiers are so kind and eventually even just remember your name. It's small but that's what gives it its charm. We always take people here from out of town and buy gift cards for people we know who love a good cup of coffee.

Yelp
Cool little coffee shop in a live/work townhouse complex that will probably be crazy busy as the housing fills up. The place is small - basically grab and go or sit outside - and the menu is short, but by keeping it simple they maintain great quality. San Diego based business that roasts their coffee right here, or down there anyway. Great, rich, perfectly roasted coffee paired with avocado toast (this is CA afterall) with prosciutto. Looking forward to returning for more.

Yelp
Spent the day thrifting and wanted to try a new coffee shop. So happy we came across seven seas roasting! It was outstanding. I ordered a dirty chai latte and cheese danish for my one year old she devoured it. It's definitely worth coming back from Whittier,
google avatar

Yelp
I like the coffee, it's a tiny little shop we walked to while my nephew got his haircut. The barista was nice and checked to see if I liked my drink once's I tried it. It was on the more cinnamon side so I liked it but if you want something sweeter I'd add vanilla.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
I'll admit, I'm a bit of a coffee snob. And this place is amazing!! The coffee and espresso is very smooth, flavorful. Reminded me of one of the best coffees I've tasted in Guatemala. I wouldn't be surprised if the beans are from there. I loved it so much , I went back the second day and bought a bag of coffee to take back home with me. This is a hidden gem for sure. If you're a coffee lover, you will not be disappointed. Next time I'm in town, this will be my daily stop for coffee. The coffee shop is small but charming and their logo and swag is very cute as well.

Yelp
I was in the area and stopped by for some coffee. There was plenty of outdoor tables in the shopping center. I tried the Marigold and the seasonal blueberry lattes. They were both top notch. The entry way gets a little clogged for ordering so I wish there was a more efficient way to order and pick up. The coffees itself were excellent and it is very rare for a coffee shop in SoCal to merit a second visit, Seven Seas Roasting is one of those.
google avatar

Yelp
They have the best blackberry syrup it's so delicious. I'm usually a latte or cappuccino drinker but there regular cup of joe is also the best I've had. I drink it black it's that good.
google avatar

Maritza L.

Yelp
Super delicious coffee and great service. You will have to wait but it's worth it. Mostly locals here and some don't seem to happy to have outsiders in there but it's a great stop on our way to San Diego.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Best baristas in town! If you're not in a rush, enjoy your caffeinated beverage outside.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite coffee shops! I'm so glad I discovered it. My absolute favorite drink at their shop is the Marigold Mocha. It comes with mocha, orange and pistachio. It's so incredibly delicious! Creamy and dreamy! They're located in a shopping/business/townhouse combo area in Aliso Viejo. Plenty of parking is available right in front of their shop. It's a small interior with just a couple of seats inside and outside, so most people get their coffee to go. Their prices are on par with other local coffee shops. The baristas are friendly and they crank the drinks out fairly fast. In addition to coffee drinks, they also offer pastries and a killer banana bread! If you're a coffee-holic, add this place to your list!
google avatar

Deborah K.

Yelp
Solid and delightful coffee! Lavender latte was not too sweet which was perfect for me. Vanilla latte had a hint of marshmallow which was actually quick yummy ;) Hipster vibe. Great baristas. Will be back!!

Yelp
Knowing my weakness for exceptional espresso drinks, my friend brought me to Seven Seas Roasting for some of their first-tier Java. Tip: The Aliso Viejo location is in the Vantis Business Park While we waiting for our drinks to be prepared, we chatted with the very knowledgeable baristas; each of the drinks we asked about they knew how to make - it was delightful to be dealing with professionals. :-) The fact that they roast their own beans here adds to the ex[perience; I've been to quite. A number of small coffee places that roast their own, and those places were usually awful. On the other hand, Seven Seas knows exactly what they're doing - they've found the perfect taste. We visited here several times, and my go-to favorite is their Chaga latte; it's an optimal mixture of coffee and sweetness. The staff is not on highly knowledgeable, but they're efficient and very friendly too :-)

Yelp
Wanted to try a new coffee shop even though it was a bit out of the way. The other reviews showed good coffee and bad service. I'd say that is pretty spot on. The cashier was very nice but the barista making the coffee wasn't friendly. The cashier took my name for the order but the barista just called out orders not the name. When I walked out I heard her something about me grabbing someone's order but my name was on it? When there's a Starbucks on every corner I'd prefer to spend my money locally but I want to feel welcomed. Shop is pretty small but there's a plenty of areas to walk to and enjoy your coffee.

Yelp
Seven Seas is a San Diego based coffee chain with 6 locations. They source their coffee from around the world and roast it in San Diego. I've had a plain latte from here a few times and it was pretty good, but I've had better coffee. So instead this last time I tried one of their specialty drinks, the Cherry Bomb and asked for it as lightly sweet as they could make it. The Cherry Bomb was a unique and fantastic drink with a blend of chocolate and cherry flavors! Seven Seas is a regular spot in my rotation when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Solid coffee shop with great selection of drinks~ Seven sea roasting is located in a apartment complex, parking can be a little tricky since there is not a lot but we found one pretty easily. The coffee shop it more like a pop up, with no info seating, there are tables outside to enjoy coffee. They have various selections of coffee drinks including 4-5 seasonal ones. I got the seasonal ginger sage latte with almond milk. ($6.50), and my BF got the cherry bomb latte ($6.50). My ginger latte was spicy, with a hint of sage, great to drink if you are feeling under the weather and need a soothing drink. My BFs drink was more cherry forward but wasn't too sweet or rich. Overall, another solid coffee shop, would love to try their other lattes my next visit~

Yelp
Holy cow talk about a hidden gem!! I work locally and this place is our go-to coffee spot and DoorDash it when I'm too lazy to go. I'm not even vegan but the avo vegan BLT is amazing!! The coconut bacon is the perfect topping I'm addicted to this toast-- and the cherry bomb latte is my new favorite. Couldn't say enough great things about the staff as well, they're all so friendly, it's a must-go
google avatar

Julianne T.

Yelp
Top tier coffee in OC!!! I have been here many times and have not been disappointed once by any of the drinks I have ordered. I recently tried their Pumpkin Smash Latte with oat milk and it was absolutely delicious. So different than other pumpkin flavored drinks out there. They use real pumpkin purée and it doesn't have that weird artificial taste. So so good!! Staff is super friendly too.
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
Perfect every time! Best tasting coffee around with excellent service. A hidden gem in a walkable neighborhood!
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
I'll start with the negative, which is that pricing is on the steeper side. However, this place has brought back my old coffee addiction and I'm not mad about it! This is a cute little shop with some unique drink and munching options, friendly customer service, and lots of love put into each drink. The vanilla latte is actual comfort in a cup. The avocado toast is filling and comes in so many fun styles. The chai latte recipe was recently changed and, while a bit on the sweeter side, the flavors are delicious. The matcha latte is not my favorite thing here, but is also good if you want a simple, yet smooth tasting matcha drink or aren't in the mood for coffee. I can't wait to try more fun menu items here!
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and one of the best I've had in Orange County. Enjoyed a toasted bagel and the drink outside at a patio table with friendly customers. No indoor seating as it's a small place. Enjoyed everything but just took too long to make the coffee. Roughly a 15 minute wait. Otherwise fantastic.
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
I think this is the BEST coffee in South County. Service is always good. I love their lattes both hot and cold, and I always get their whole beans for espresso and my morning coffee. The location is a little tucked away but I also like that about them bc I don't want to wait in some crazy line.
google avatar

Sonya G.

Yelp
Their staff is so friendly and their coffee is so delicious! I tried their coconut iced coffee and wow wow so so good ! Place is tiny but there is plenty of outdoor seating . Great spot !
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
Possibly my favorite coffee in OC. Definitely one of them, anyway! None of the drinks are too sweet or taste artificially flavored. Every coffee I've had there, I can actually taste the coffee and it's very good. Staff is very friendly and sweet. It brings joy to my day to pop in here and get a yummy drink!! The only reason I might not recommend this place to everybody, is it's very expensive. An average sized coffee drink is $6-7. But it is a treat, so if it's viewed that way rather than an everyday stop, it's fine. I don't mind paying it when I want something extra tasty from a sweet staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Blackberry vanilla latte & Turkey Day - Avocado Toast. The popcorn is surprisingly a great addition. Small joint but so cute and a nice surprise.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
Not sure how this place has 4.5 stars... I found this place on Yelp and I was really excited to try it as it seemed amazing. First of all, parking is a bit tough to find. Second of all, it is extremely small inside for the line of people waiting to order and those waiting for their drinks. Lastly, the customer service is horrible. I asked about their pastries and the girl was pretty rude. It felt like a very pretentious place and they gave off the vibe that they think they're better than you which made me extremely uncomfortable. The cold brew was pretty good but honestly, I'd rather go to Starbucks because the experience there is always much better. Coffee: 7.5/10 Service: 3/10
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place . Wish they had a drive through ! My bf and I like to go here when we both have a day off . My only suggestion is to make allow larger order sizes and just charge more as it's not ideal to buy two for each person and be able to carry that and food ! Therefore buy less ; also better way to carry out more of a larger order for a single person !! Love you have all your gear !
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Coffee here is pretty good and a life saver if you're staying at the nearby hotel and need your iced coffee fix. I've been here once in 2022 and then earlier this month.
google avatar

LISA B.

Yelp
I am trying more local coffee spots in my area. Today I tried Seven Seas roasting. I didn't get a welcoming vibe when I walked in. So that is a negative to me. I got the Matcha Latte. Bland. The reason I gave three stars, is because the salmon avocado toast was delicious. I would come back just for that and ignore the non welcoming vibe.
google avatar

Markwillbark W.

Yelp
Nice coffee, quiet area, some outdoor seating also which is convenient, free parking right opposite. Prices are reasonable.
google avatar

jordan H.

Yelp
Just a little coffee shop. Small little crew, nice friendly interaction. Iced mocha was on the more bland or plain side but still good and better than the one i had at starbucks the other day. Starbucks doesnt mix theirs and is very rich.
google avatar

Yelp
My friend and I were visiting the Niguel Botanical Preserve and wanted to try a new coffee shop. It's tucked away from the main road, within an apartment/condo complex. We were grateful to find Seven Seas Roasting via Yelp! The shop was a bit small, but as soon as you walk in you're immersed into tentacle grip... of the Seven Seas. We were welcomed by friendly staff and themed merch. We ordered: - Cinnamon Honey Latte - Lavender Honey Latte - Cherry Bomb Latte - Goat cheese avocado toast with balsamic vinegar drizzle We shared the Cinnamon Honey Latte, the perfect amount of cinnamon, and the Goat cheese avocado toast with unique blend of flavors. Both we delicious in their own way! Can't wait to visit again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Seven Seas is located in an eclectic mix of businesses next to the Hilton Homewood Suites. They have the usual coffee selection and specialty Lattes as well as a selection of baked goods, bagels and breakfast items. The service is the winner here. Welcoming and courteous with a smile and a thank you. Skip the chain coffee down the road and check them out.
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Love the Seven Seas logo, but what I love even more is the Cinnamon Honey Latte! They know how to make espresso and latte art here. If you're looking for high quality espresso from beans that don't have any fruity undertones, this place is for you. Good latte from a specialty coffee shop isn't cheap. So, at $5.25 for the Cinnamon Honey Latte , it's not terribly expensive. Friendly service. Parking can be hard to find if you come during busy times. I will be back!
google avatar

Gina L.

Yelp
This is the best cup of coffee in Orange County, in my opinion. Friendly, knowledgeable staff serves with style. The shop is small, but you can find a place to sit outside.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Coffee is excellent! Service is efficient and courteous. Ambiance is cute and small, but bathrooms are not in the most convenient of places. Still recommend for local Aliso Viejo Coffee Shop
google avatar

T. H.

Yelp
Located in the plaza on top of the hill that overlooks the Alison Viejo town center this small, nondescript coffee shop can be easily missed as it is nestled between other small businesses and across the street from larger business complexes. But once you do find it you will find it is well worth the effort as they know coffee and they know tea. On my first visit my spouse tried their honey cinnamon latte which she found "wonderful" and I had the chai latte which was truly a standout. Chai is often hard to do right as sometimes too watery and bland or too overly spicy and/or sweet. But this establishment is exemplary in its product. The only bad feedback is this might become addicting and may have to keep driving out on a regular basis!
google avatar

Reiche A.

Yelp
Cute small coffee shop hidden attached to apartments/condos. It's a nice idea to have a small shop where residents can just walk over for their morning coffee or snack. It would be nice to have that in our residential area. It was my first time to venture to this place and I was pleasantly surprised with their yummy iced lavender latte. I'll definitely stop by again next time I'm in the area. It's in a residential area not in commercial plaza with all the stores but close enough to make a detour to grab a drink before shopping.
google avatar

Vi P.

Yelp
Parking: 6/10. Pretty limited in a small business district. There's a parking structure available but not very convenient. Iced lavender honey latte: 7/10. The lavender taste was very strong to the point that it was overwhelming. Might be a blessing for those who enjoy the taste of lavender. Iced cherry bomb latte: 8/10. Interesting drink combination but not life changing. Atmosphere: 5/10. Extremely small with limited seatings inside and outside. They do have a good amount of apparel merchandise for purchase for those who are interested. Service: 10/10. Nothing to complain as they were helpful during our first time here.
google avatar

Ariana M.

Yelp
Such a great spot in OC for a coffee and a bite. We got the avocado toast and it was delicious. Not a ton of great seating inside, but we sat outside and it was lovely!

travis z.

Yelp
This place was great. I just got a new coffee maker, and was shopping for a new roast The atmosphere is great. Everybody is talking and laughing. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for on the shelf so they went in the back and got me what I needed I'll be back

Yelp
As a veteran, I like supporting other veteran businesses. That said, I found myself in Aliso Viejo and in need of a coffee. A quick search pulled up Seven Seas, claiming to be "veteran-owned"...decision made. While waiting for my order, I think I overhear one of the baristas say "dumb a** conservatives". Thinking there's no way she said that, I start paying attention to the conversation between her and her coworker. She says it again... Barista 1: "Dumb a** conservatives think these songs are for them...I'm like, no! (lol). Like that Creedence Clearwater Revival song, you know which one I'm talking about?" Barista 2: (lol) "Yeah." Barista 1: "I'm like no, that's not for you! (shaking head) Dumb a** conservatives!" Look, people are entitled to their opinions, but here are some basic facts: - The vast majority of veterans and people in the military are conservative. - This business is trying to capitalize on it's veteran-owned status to win business, presumably from conservatives (see above). - This business also hires people who rant and rave about "dumb a** conservatives" in their tiny coffee shop in a voice loud enough to be heard over espresso machines and the (apparently mandatory) coffee shop hipster playlist. - I'd feel the same about someone yelling "dumb a** liberals"...it's uncalled for in a place of business. Now I'm sure this review will delight some of the blue-haired, mask-wearing NPC's that want people to know their pronouns. However if you're a veteran or proud American, or perhaps even part of the silent majority that took down Bud Light, and you're looking for something non-Starbucks while supporting a veteran-owned business, then keep driving...this ain't the place.

Yelp
Amazing, tasty and delicious coffees (lavender honey latte and cinnamon honey latte) are a "one of a kind" and "must-try" on your next visit. Staff is super friendly and service was really fast. Love the ambiance in their petite size coffee shop and enjoyed the relaxing outdoor seatings. We"ll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Yelp
Small local coffee shop with friendly engaging staff and delicious drinks. Will absolutely go back over going to larger coffee chains

Yelp
Amazing service, authentic coffee, and just an absolute must!! If you are ever in the area, please stop by, you will love their coffee, we are guilty of coming a few days in a row, you will not regret it!

Eric G.

Yelp
A little slow but can you really rush these things??? They've outgrown this building and need a bigger space.
