"One of Seven Virtues’ three locations around town, the local coffee roaster chain’s North Tabor outpost is a snug, peaceful space looking onto Glisan Street. Ideal for catching up with friends or getting some work done, visitors can expect to find a drinks menu centered around Seven Virtues’ single-origin, house-roasted coffees. Those in need of something more filling can go the sweet route with a rotating selection of baked goods and pastries or a tried-and-true bagel sandwich." - Zoe Baillargeon

Delicious soy matcha latte. Chocolate chip cookie was also yummy, but it could really soar with a lot less sugar. Great music and patrons; very relaxing.

Love the vibes here - big windows and comfy couch and lots of plants. Friendly barista and good coffee and snacks. Lots of gluten free and vegan treats. And there is a small parking lot!

Reviewing Seven Virtues as a coffee roaster -- so when I moved to Portland I made it a mission to try ever local roaster (we have a lot!) and that means that over the past year I've tried about a dozen roasters. I do espresso at home, mainly cappuccinos so I'm always looking for beans that will yield strong flavor notes that will not be easily overwhelmed by milk. Of all the PDX roasters I will now say that Seven Virtues is in my top 2, maybe even my favorite. Their coffee is consistent and always so interesting in the cup. I can actually pull out the tasting notes on the bag! I think one thing you can say about some roasters is that they are good but not special, as in they roast good coffee but there was no reason to drive across town to get it. Seven Virtues is worth it the drive for me, their roasts are always distinct with a good bit of funk. I get a lot of fruity, fermented notes in the cup and with milk added it's just what I consider to be coffee perfected. I wish I was better with words but the gist is that they are putting out a distinctive and wonderful product and for now they are the only roaster I will buy from (until something else catches my eye).

Google
I paid $8 for a lukewarm, watery, oat milk latte, that took 8 hours to make. Staff is rude, environment is stuffy, walls are drab. There are so many excellent coffee shops in Portland, don’t waste your time on this one. Better off going to the Starbucks down the road or drive-thru Dutch Bros. And to the barista who gave me a nasty look, that’s the job you chose.

Google
I am celiac and had the berry crumble and an americano but back to the crumble, it was a delight! I always appreciate solid gluten free options, and i didn’t have any reaction after so it passed my test. The store is smaller with seating but i liked the vibe and will definitely return.

Google
Great coffee selections and espresso (also have great decaf), the matcha oat latte is smooth! Staff are not warm and cozy, but efficient. Nice neighborhood spot for a break on a busy corner.

Google
This is a very nice cafe. I love love love all the beautiful plants. The barista was good and very friendly. They have dairy milk alternatives but no and milk. They also have a housemase sugar free vanilla. While I appreciate the effort and I'm glad that they made an attempt to have a sugar free option. There was no real flavor to it at all unfortunately. It's a very nice cafe though.

Google
This was our first time here and we liked the experience. We noticed they had a special latte made with authentic Japanese matcha and decided to give it a go—and yes they are pretty yummy! My only request: to make sure they are about 30% hotter when served. 🍵 I like that there is a fair amount of tables and furniture to enjoy your beverage and the kids book section is definitely a big plus! I would only encourage the owner to stock up on books in other languages too. They are super professional and respectful and I felt they wanted us to feel welcomed: many thanks!

Frances L.

Yelp
Beautiful decor! So many plants you may feel your in a nursery. The coffee magnificent the bagels just as good. Great local coffee shop in the community.

BJ D.

Yelp
This is an amazing little coffeehouse. Great atmosphere to meet a friend or do some work. It has the vibe of your friends' grandma's kitchen nook. A great selection of cafe drinks. Try the chai! The staff here is very efficient - it's always busy but the line moves very fast.

Jessica F.

Yelp
I decided to stop before work to grab a latte and bagel. Both were amazing! The everything bagel is probably the best everything bagel I've ever had. The customer service was great. I plan on coming back and trying other pastries as well as lattes.

Shadow F.

Yelp
The breakfast bagel has thick fillings, toasted bread, and is steamy without being too hot to eat. It was most satisfying breakfast bagel I have ever had.

Austin D.

Yelp
Not sure if this dude still works here but he was literally the creepiest barista I ever encountered. He would sit down next to women if they were trying to figure out WiFi but if anyone who wasn't an attractive woman asked him a question he would barely answer and give a snark snort Hope this pos got fired and it made me never want to try going in a third time (same experience both times)

Angelina V.

Yelp
Good bagel sandwiches, with just a few different options. The caramel cappuccinos are great!! Deep flavor, good froth.

Taylour V.

Yelp
The matcha latte was not hot and the pour over was bitter. The service was great. The space is full Of light and I love the plants for sake. The product was underwhelming for us.

Sahitya M.

Yelp
Not open for seating. The Togo cups weren't that great either ! The coffee was okay, I was excited to have coffee here based on the feedback from fellow yelpers, but I didn't like it so much! One main thing about coffee shops for me is the ambience, this place seems pretty old and not maintained both inside and outside. Choosing this place was my way of supporting local businesses, since it's pretty hard for the local businesses to survive in this pandemic, i want to be mindful of that and may be give this place one more chance once they open for dine in.

Tabitha B.

Yelp
Their coffee is wonderful and their sandwiches are great as well! I got the butter Carmel latte I believe and it was better than almost all the Carmel lattes I've ever had-- highly recommend.

Emily S.

Yelp
Stumbled across driving by and decided to pop in. Best. Decision. Ever friendly baristas, great coffee, and EVEN BETTER baked goods. If they have the berry crumble bar, grab one immediately. Plus they have bagels with VEGAN CREAM CHEESE?! Are you kidding me...love it. Customer service went above and beyond. If I wasn't from out of town, they would be seeing me everyday here. What a gem

Diana H.

Yelp
Stopped in for an afternoon coffee lift. Excellent latte. So smooth with a delicate roast. Daughter picked up a vegan and gluten free carrot cupcake that turned out to be delicious. But loss of one star because there was a fly on one of the pastries that we pointed out to the server and instead of removing the pastry she just batted the dead fly off! Yuk! A bit more training might be in order.

Maeve M.

Yelp
cold brew tasted like velvety chocolate but the latter tasted like something else brown but neither sweet nor velvety if you know what i mean

Daniele B.

Yelp
Barista was rude, didn't greet upon arrival, refused to fulfill my request. I guess Portland's bad service never changes.

D. A.

Yelp
The best coffee in my neighborhood. The bagel sandwiches are great. The space is nice too. But the baristas are kind of cold. I don't feel welcome there so I don't like to hang out there. They have the Portland cold shoulder thing.

Noah A.

Yelp
I hate to write this, as I typically love Seven Virtues and their beans, drip, and pourovers. However, the past two visits, the drip coffee has been incredibly weak, watery, and flavorless. It used to be very flavorful. I wonder if they are using less coffee than they used to as a cost-saving measure. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend their drip coffee right now, so I hope they see the poor reviews mentioning it and solve the problem. I'll definitely update my review if that happens.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
I spent $32.30 on 2 drinks and 2 bagels. It is a bit expensive but I guess that's inflation?....We both took one drink of each of our beverages and did not drink them anymore. I don't understand. One was a smoothie and one was a latte yet they both tasted like the vomit taste when you throw up in your mouth a little unexpectedly. It was quit a haul to drive all the way there from where we live specifically to try it. I was bummed. Bummed. Even more bummed when we stopped somewhere else to get consumable beverages and another cost. The bagel was good.

Laura P.

Yelp
This a very zen little coffee place. Comfy atmosphere great service and delicious drinks and food.

Chuck M.

Yelp
Longer than usual lunch break so I popped in for quick respite. Holy shit the blueberry lemon muffin was fantastic, and loaded w blueberries! Really tasty. Both that and my decaf oat milk latte were excellent and the service was great. Def recommend!

Yelp
I saw this corner shop on the way to my air bnb yesterday so decided to walk the couple of streets down to it this morning. I ordered an iced mocha with coconut milk, and was pleasantly surprised when it was made with REAL coconut milk. It came in a fancy jar that reminded me of home, it wasn't overly sweetened, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Oh! And when I was ready to go and hadn't quite finished my drink, they were extra nice about giving me a plastic to go cup :)

jordan m.

Yelp
I went to two different seven virtues locations and both were excellent! The iced chai latte with cbd drops is delicious :)

Alyssa B.

Yelp
I wanna leave a 5 star review because as a coconut milk chai drinker their chai and their coconut milk are both out of this world (they make both the chai AND the coconut milk in house). It's my second favorite chai in portland. They have great food options too especially if you have dietary restrictions. The reason they lose a star is because according to my coffee drinking friends, their coffee isn't the best. (Burnt) But for my GF and non dairy needs, I love the place.

Yan P.

Yelp
Delicious meals and very tasty bagels. Coffee was great and lots of different options. Staff is also extremely nice and compassionate.

Meghan B.

Yelp
Stopped here before heading to the Steelers bar across the street for the Steelers game last Sunday. Service was friendly, and there are a decent amount of tables here. I went with my favorite beverage- an almond milk latte. It was very delicious. They had a great selection of pastries and baked goods, including vegan options. I went with an almond croissant, which was SO tasty and fresh.

Brittany R.

Yelp
Every time I come here it takes 15+ minutes for a latte with no one in front of me in line. I love their coffee truly but totally not worth the wait. I even ordered ahead trying to fix the 15-20 minute wait and when I had arrived they hadn't even seen my order yet.

Semuteh F.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way to Multnomah for hiking because it was in the same neighborhood as our Airbnb. The coffee was so-so but the breakfast sandwiches were great to start the long day and big enough to make into two meals. Espresso art also on point. They have a small parking lot but street parking wasn't an issue. Service was kind if a bit slow on a busy Saturday morning.

Kris M.

Yelp
Latte was perfect temperature, and the quality of the coffee was superb. Service was friendly too!

Mark L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Portland. I cannot say enough about this place, but I will provide a few very specific examples and one yuck reason, but not enough to change my rating from 5 to 4. They do close early. If you are a nightowl, this is not your place. That is ok because they make up for it in so many other ways. 1. Vegan Bagel Sandwich - The freshest spinach, tomato and avocado and insanely good homemade hummus made this a remarkable sandwich. Just wow. 2. Their tea selection was one of the best I have had in a long time. I enjoyed the floral white tea and what a great cup. Also, presentation gets very high ratings with a metal tea pot, cup and table tray. Well done. 3. The decor is simple, but modern with great art, wooden tables and a small play area for the little ones. 4. This is a place that believes in quality so they take their time to prepare your drinks and food. 5. Finally, they are barista artists. Expect your froth to have a pretty picture on top. Love this place.

Vinnie B.

Yelp
Stopped in here today for a quick breakfast sandwich. I had a bagel with egg, cheese and pesto. It was really tasty, it had a crunchy top and soft inside texture, which worked for me. I also had a Latte with Almond milk. This was a little on the lukewarm side. Next time I will order it extra hot. The service is pleasent with lots of wonderful smiles. The vibe is half cozy half business. I do like the local artists art work on the walls..nice touch. Parking is a mutha tho...

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I work near to this coffee house and we would love to support a Portland establishment. However, every time I have come in, I have gotten sub par service. Today I called in an order for 4 drinks and 1 bagel for co-workers. My co-worker went to pick up the drinks and was then told rudely that we can NEVER call in a drink order again they only take food orders over the phone. This is a coffee house, I feel like multiple drink orders would be not so uncommon. We call in coffee drinks all the time at other coffee shops and was surprised that they don't. But upset as to they way it was told and handled. If we have been told nicely it would have been a different story. Unfortunately this is not the only story of employees being rude to customers. If you want rude employees making your over-priced and burnt shots go here.

Ocean S.

Yelp
Ok honestly, I'm only rating their cookies cuz I always get cookies with my coffee and this one was so stale and gross that I'm actually appalled. Like really tho- this cookie is so mf gross like ew do y'all even care ??

Keith M.

Yelp
Just visited this shop for breakfast and coffee this morning. I got the Lumberjack on an onion bagel and my wife got the ham, egg and cheese. I got a mocha, she got a Carmel latte. *Coffee was decent. *Bagels were life changing. *Interior is cool with plenty of natural light, weathered original wood floors and plenty of seating. *Parking is a little rough with only 5 or so dedicated spots in the back so you might have to park on Flanders (one block south). *Price is a little pricy but what you'd expect for a high quality product and experience. I would go back for the bagels and comfortable atmosphere- for sure!

Yelp
Amazing mochas this place is full of kind souls and great baristas best shop on Hawthorne

Tom J.

Yelp
I often meet a friend here for coffee on Saturday mornings. The decor is very home-y and relaxing, and most of the time, it's not super insanely crowded. The staff is always friendly and laid back, which is much appreciated when I haven't had any caffeine yet. I've had the bagels, both regular and gluten free, they are super tasty with either regular or vegan cream cheese. If you really want a treat, have them add on the house made jam, it's incredible! Unfortunately, the one time I had one of their bagel sandwiches, it wasn't great. I think it had mainly eggs and veggies, but it was super, super bland, not much going on in flavor town. Also, and my main reason for taking off a star, their house coffee is terrible, sort of sour and acidic. I always have them leave room, so I can dose it with some cream, and sometimes even a bit of sweetener. I'm sure they do have some other delectable items on their menu and some good coffee drinks. If you want a pleasant, chill experience, come vibe out at 7 Virtues!

F J.

Yelp
I have loved coming to this place for the bagels and "bagelwich" sandwiches they offer. They do stop serving bagels a couple hours before closing which is sometimes a challenge so I try to make it before then. The staff is nice and helpful. I gave 3 stars because 1/2 the time I go into the the cafe they are out of bagels. It would seem that after a few times of this, they would correct for the demand and increase the supply but it has not yet happened.

Shelley B.

Yelp
The staff are so so nice and the iced mochas are delicious. i've never had a bad experience with them. they are quick and easy about everything. while the coffee is a little pricey i don't mind spending the money on good quality coffee and nice customer service :)

John R.

Yelp
I have been to this, the Glisan location, 4 or 5 times now, and to the Hawthorne location 2 or 3 times. I prefer the Glisan location though I find myself near the other location more often. I've consistently had a better experience at the northern location, oddly enough. The drip coffee is excellent. Not cheap, of course. It's a lighter to medium roast. The lattes have been good in my experience, not as good as Stumptown imho. The iced lattes here were not good, time after time. The bagel sandwiches and food options in general, are fantastic at Seven Virtues. The danishes are fresh and tasty, with cookies and crumbles you won't find at every other cafe. The bagel sandwiches, though I've always preferred an open-faced arrangement, are delicious and alone worth the visit. The Acorn to Oak is a personal favorite - tomato, red onion, avocado, cream cheese, a bit of Salt and pepper - all on a garlic or everything bagel, probably by Bowery. Superb. I recommend Seven Virtues, they're a spot we should be grateful to have.

Asa S.

Yelp
I come here almost every day. Great coffee. Great employees. The red-headed girl always provides excellent customer service and keeps me coming back.

Lauren M.

Yelp
your standard Portland corner coffee shop- cute, soothing hip music playing, delicious coffee. I love their cold brew and bagel sandwiches. the eggs works is my favorite (egg, red onion, pesto, tomato), I call it the stinky sandwich because no one will want to be near me after I eat it (worth it). happy to have this near my house so I can walk and get a delicious breakfast on a day off.

Josh F.

Yelp
Very nice coffee shop. I came here to get some work done and have a good cup of coffee with a good amount of workspace. Well all was successful. All the ladies were very informational when I asked about the different types of drip coffee that they were offering which for me is important. I was a little surprised that they are open till 5pm but they stopped serving food at 3pm. I was into my work and had lost track of time and would have enjoyed an everything bagel be jade they looked sooooooo good but alas they had thrown them all into an orange bucket behind the counter. I also didn't enjoy the fact that the artist that had things hanging on the wall came in and pulled a ladder out and was taking art off the walls while I was trying to enjoy my coffee and work. If this review was for coffee alone then it would have been 4-5 stars but I believe in truly reviewing the entire experience to paint the whole picture.

Tess W.

Yelp
$3.50 for an Americano - no problem paying these prices for good quality coffee unfortunately, the coffee was weak. Tasted like I was drinking coffee that had been seeped through three times already. $6.50 for the vegan bagel sandwich. It was decent but nothing to write home about. The barista was friendly which is why the three star rating when the food and coffee was two stars, at best.

Juan F.

Yelp
Pretty solid breakfast/coffee spot. Stopped here before we headed to PDX. I ordered a Hot Chocolate and the Egg Works Bagel Sandwich. The Hot Chocolate came with art similar to the latte art which was cool. The Bagel Sandwich was solid - lots of goodies inside. I loved that they toast it - gives it a real nice crunch on every bite. Service was very quit and friendly as well!

Brooks M.

Yelp
Lovely corner spot out of the inner circle. It's an awesome thing to have a charming coffee shop out here and I'm glad they fill this niche in the neighborhood as there is nothing else super close. The coffee seems on point, the tea selection is a bit lacking. The service is perfectly acceptable but not overly warm or helpful. They are a solid A-OK coffee shop with all the normal things but nothing in particular that sets it out form the herd. I like that they have a lot of windows and seating, clean and accessible bathrooms and good wifi. The space is a little hard and loud though so bring headphones if you need that kind of distraction.

Jenn T.

Yelp
I decided to try this place after yelping to find a nearby shop to stop for a drink and food. Reviews led me here. The staff is friendly and the menu is big if you're a coffee drinker. I'm not. I grabbed a chai and breakfast bagel sandwich. The chai was good, nice that it's house made. It's on the spicier side vs. sweet. The sandwich was also very good and satisfied my hunger after fasting for 12+ hours for some health tests. It took a bit to get the sandwich, but at least it was fresh. There were a few people working inside, and I imagine it's just loud enough for extroverts but not too crazy. The decor isn't the best and some things are pretty dirty (like the bottoms of the shelves, etc.) If you can look past that and enjoy different types of coffee, it seems like a good spot. It felt very Portland vibe to me. Those who don't live in Portland know what I'm talking about. ;)

Amber O.

Yelp
I'm no snob about coffee, but somehow this establishment managed to leave me unimpressed. I was greeted by a blank stare from a woman with dyed orange hair. She was rude taking my order and just seemed like she didn't like working there. I understand having a bad day, but this was over the top. I got my cup of black drip coffee and it wasn't very warm and had grounds in it. Overall, coming here was a bad experience.

Dana H.

Yelp
The staff were so friendly and kind. The coffee is pricey, which would be fine, except that the drip was really, really weak and not tasty...it was sort of a watery cardboard experience. I ordered it with cream in it, and the cream was curdled. Not pleasant - and $3.50. I ended up buying another cup elsewhere that was much more satisfying. My partner got a latte that was pretty decent, if lukewarm (gotta remember to ask for extra hot!!).

Totem M.

Yelp
As much as I love this place and absolutely adore the owners, the new staff is not so good. The previous two times coming here I've had terrible service and very long waits without any customers. They seem to need a bit more training. I'd usually give this spot 5 stars.

Jes A.

Yelp
I've been in a few times. Found it to be a great place for lukewarm coffee and attitude. If you look monied, you seem to get better service, but I'm not dressing up to get coffee on a day off. Meh.

Brianna B.

Yelp
Came here yesterday for the one and only time. The baristas seemed to have plenty of other things they'd rather be doing. Ordered a medium coffee with sugar free vanilla syrup. Should be pretty simple, or so I thought. They either forgot the syrup or didn't nearly enough as there was NO flavor or sweetness to it. My friend ordered a macchiato which came in what seemed to be a 1 oz pour. Almost $8 for that? No thanks...

Crystal M.

Yelp
I am an Americano with light cream kind of girl, the first sip or two always black. I am pretty picky on what kind of coffee I drink and can taste when the shot that the barista pulls is good or no good. I used to come to this little coffee shop while in College quite frequently, and returned today to find it exactly the same. Great shot pull, full of flavors and crema on top. Lovely staff that are extremely kind. The open seating and window seating with outlets are perfect for a study session or even people watching. When I am in the area again, I will be back.

Anthony G.

Yelp
The fact they have a Hipster bagel tells the story. The coffee is okay, the food is okay and the service is okay. It's an okay kinda place. I wish I had more to say, but I don't.
