These Are the Twin Cities Restaurants That Have Closed in 2019 So Far | Eater Twin Cities

"I noted that Seventh Street Social will close after nearly six years on St. Paul's West 7th to become an event center; the family-owned restaurant overcame tepid early reviews to serve burgers, a broad array of beer taps, and comfortable service and will remain open through September 29 for farewell visits." - Eater Staff

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We sat outside on the side patio in the cozy seating area for two, and it was absolute perfection. A beautiful canal view with a front-row seat to a gorgeous sunset 🌅. The staff even offered a heater or a blanket if it got chilly—blankets?! So cozy, so fun, such a great touch. The food was phenomenal: perfectly cooked salmon, amazing tuna, and we finished strong with bread pudding that was 100% worth saving room for. The staff was incredibly attentive, helpful, and genuinely fun, which made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

We hadn’t been to this restaurant since the move, decided on lunch today and it was the best decision of the week ! The setting is exceptional, the space is very adequate, and the furniture seating is very comfortable. Our server, Andra, was extremely pleasant and efficient. The food far exceeded the expectations with high quality fresh ingredients and seasonings. See the photos for presentation ! Top Class on Bay Front people ! The only way you will be disappointed is if you can’t get in ! Thank You Seventh South, exceptional !

Wow! Do yourself a favor and check this spot out. Andrea S thanks for making the experience memorable and being a top tier server and all around awesome person. Short ribs and the Cap steak were some of the best we have ever had. Coming from a farming and ranching family and living near Chicago steak houses I am hard to please. I was very pleased!

Google
Our experience at Seventh South Waterfront was truly exceptional. The food exceeded every expectation. The golden beet salad was a standout—served with the dressing on the side, allowing just the right balance of flavor, and the hint of grapefruit added a refreshing, elegant touch. My husband enjoyed the Branzino, beautifully presented and even more delightful in taste. I had the red snapper accompanied by lobster risotto, and both were so memorable that I would gladly order them again. My husband also savored a glass of the house red wine, which paired wonderfully with the meal. A sincere thank you to the team for such a wonderful dining experience!

Google
This place is a gem. Deep, full flavors. We loved everything we tried, and we'll definitely be back! The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Chef Mike & his kitchen are flavor masterminds, and Jorge was a great server.

Google
I took my wife and daughter for their birthday dinner here. Our server Mike did a fantastic job suggesting meals and drinks to make the evening special. My steak was perfect, and they had these potatoes that had cheese layered into them. They were so tasty!! We will be going back to enjoy the waterfront and enjoy the delicious food!! Thank you Mike and team for making that evening beyond perfect for all of us!!

Starting from the Old Fashioned (Basil Hayden) the Octopus, the Beet salad to the Red Snapper, it’s been an amazing experience. WOW! A must in Naples. And our server Jorge was excellent!

Google
Great experience at Seventh South Waterfront. Small place with a great view and a nice atmosphere. Very kind personnel and a warm place. Amazing service. A little bit expensive but still OK. The food was in small portions but very tasty. Strongly recommend the calamari and the octopus. The salads were also good. In summer time it is too hot to sit outside but the view is great even from the inside.

Yelp
We were there last Sunday after Gulfshore & we SO happy! The service, food and ambiance was great! Lauren was our waitperson and she was both lovely and accommodating. It was a beautiful meal and we look forward to returning!

Yelp
Gorgeous location by the water. Recently converted from a market to a full-service restaurant, and it's got an upscale, sleek vibe. We came for a drink one night, and I got the All Bark, No Bite, which was boozier-tasting than I had hoped. I prefer drinks with more layered flavors but if you love vodka, then this is the drink for you. The next day we came for lunch, and the highlight by far was the Smoked Fish Dip. I also got the salmon poke bowl, which was fresh and tasty, and the other guests got the red snapper, which was solid, and the Moroccan chicken, which my friend didn't really enjoy. This restaurant is still relatively new, and may need some time to figure out their menu. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other dishes.

Yelp
The ambiance here is great, inside outdoor dining. It's on the water so there is a view. Seems like a local favorite, was quite busy. Friendly staff. The bread, tuna and short ribs were the star of the show, very delicious and great flavors.
google avatar

Jarrett S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, one of the few waterfront options in the area! Had the tuna poke bowl for lunch was delicious, and fresh! Very reasonable pricing for lunch as well.
google avatar

Keri H.

Yelp
Great food, great service, pleasant view, and the best salmon in Naples. It was our anniversary and the chef gave us some outstanding candy.
google avatar

Kara V.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and OUTSTANDING food. I had the poke bowl and not only was is delicious and bountiful, it was gorgeous too! I would definitely come back!!

Yelp
My friends took me here for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. We ended up switching tables twice because it was so drafty and cold, and the acoustics were terrible -- we could barely hear one another talk across the table, which really took away from the evening. I ordered the short rib and was very disappointed. It was mostly fat, not tender at all, and definitely did not "fall off the bone" the way you'd expect. My friends ordered the sea bass and they loved it, so at least their meals were a hit. Overall, between the uncomfortable seating, how loud it was, and my underwhelming entrée, I probably wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Such an awesome restaurant with fantastic food choices by the bay. Our service was excellent and from the appetizer all the way to desert the Chef was paying attention to detail and flavors. M&D

Jessica F.

Yelp
Outstanding food and the service was great! The server knew the menu well and suggested some wonderful entrees. Sincerely, this has become my second favorite restaurant with Sails being my #1 but following a closely behind regarding food quality They could do better with the ambiance, maybe white or black plates not colorful ones as it takes away from the food presentation and possibly cleaning the tables when they get dirty, but apart from that, the chef really knows what he's doing! Food quality is superb! I didn't give it a full 5 stars do to ambiance but I heard they are moving locations so maybe that's the next step

Yelp
Great happy hour. Terrific bartenders. Ordered a brace of apps, and alternated the cocktail du jour with beer and water. Cool place to hang out in the heat of the afternoon. Recommend the oysters, poke nachos and fish spread. Drink of the day was a rum based old fashioned with chocolate Bitters. Tasty.

Yvon V.

Yelp
This was our first time at the new location we still book the restaurant before we book our hotel to make sure we get in The food was even better then the previous location Everything we had what so much flavor form the tuna tartar ,Caesar salad to our entrees Good job Barry sorry we missed you

Yelp
A very nice restaurant with excellent food! They offer late night menu. The atmosphere was welcoming, and every dish we tried was delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came to Naples to check things out but also to hit the best food and drink places. Checked out Yelp and bang Seventh and South was top of the list...went there and...it is for a reason. Killer There are a ton of restaurants in the 5th-7th street area - many of which are touristy. Seventh South stands above those as being off the main 5th street drag, but critically for the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. It was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Super unique food, killer mixology, a great atmosphere and just over the top service from Chris, Derek, Janice and of course Barry I know this will sound like a "gomer" like pre-baked review, but IT IS NOT. We have no relationship with the restaurant- strictly consumers just highlighting amazing food and service. While the drinks were killer (see below), the food was just awesome. We had the Lobster Bisque and Tuna appetizers. We jumped on them and forgot photos! Then we had the Octopus appetizer and Swordfish entree and it was just perfect. Had those and wanted to find a place to watch the NHL Playoffs and were expecting to go to some sports bar or something and saw hockey on the TV bar at Seventh South - chatted with Chris and he said "Oh yea, we stay open until 1am (which was perfect for our Western NHL game) and we love Hockey (Derek the bartender played high end hockey)." So we finished the dinner, walked around Naples, and showed back up at Seventh just as the Avs game started and Chris, Derek and Barry just set us up!! Avs on the TV, killer drinks and great people watched the game with us for a couple hours. WE WILL BE HERE EVERY TRIP WE MAKE IT TO NAPLES. You should too. Imagine that, a local feeling place in Naples Florida that had kick a$$ food, drinks and service. Would give it a 10 if we could.

Yelp
this is my second time eating here and we were disappointed at start. We waited and waited for our server and no one came over so we had to get up to the hostess stand and ask once she arrived she was prompt and took her order which I thought all was good. then I think she forgot to put our appetizers in came back about 20 minutes later to confirm our order for our appetizer we received it. We were disappointed. I'm not going to mention what it is. then we ordered our entrées. I ordered the Seabass. My wife ordered the tuna and we were astounded. It was amazing. We had the bread pudding for dessert. It was absolutely wonderful if it had not been for the bad start, I would give them a five star and we will be back.

Yelp
Dined last night at Seventh South Waterfront, One of the best meals I've had in Naples in a long time. We were seated at a corner table with the windows on both side of us for two. The chorizo and crusted red snapper was prepared, flawless over a bed of bountiful lobster risotto. We started with the Sweet chili, calamari, appetizer Delicious beautiful presentation. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room for dessert. Will be back for sure for that. Great experience great service good luck to the owners and their staff. Support Independent businesses!!

Holly F.

Yelp
Fish sandwich and pork carnitas were very dry. Burgers undercooked at rare for ordering medium well. Fries good. No bottles of wine available for our lunch, only glasses.

Yelp
The location is great on the corner of 7th Ave & 9th street. Lots of available parking at the restaurant (including quite a few handicap). The service was great! It was raining when we entered and the hostess offered me a clean towel to dry myself off with. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server, the runners everyone that assisted at our table was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the focaccia and pork belly appetizers, Sea Bass and Salmon entrees, gratin potatoes, and coconut cream pie. The Sea Bass was the best fish dish I have ever had. The pork belly is a must have! My only two dislikes were the noise level. It was so loud we struggled to hear each other and our wait staff. I live for dessert and was disappointed this pie was so sickly sweet we couldn't finish it. Overall we will definitely return!

Yelp
Love it. Lauren is the best and we love their menu. I've had great experiences with the bartenders (well, except for one) and while we generally like to eat at the bar, we've had excellent table service a number of times. Food is very good and it's especially nice that they're open later than most places in sleepy Naples - YAY! Industry folks must love this too (and I don't blame them). new location is closer to us as well. See ya very soon, again.

Yelp
Restaurant is on a canal, small, modern industrial feel. We had the fish dip that I was leery about. Hubby wanted it well it was delicious glad we ordered it. For dinner he had the halibut which I tasted and with was yummy. I ordered the snapper it was delish. We eat out and try different places quite a bit. I would return dishes are different with an interesting combination of flavors. Service was very good also it was raining hard when we left and the busboy came to walk me out with umbrella much appreciated! Would return and definitely recommended!!!

Yelp
This place is a great secret hidden off the popular 5th Ave restaurant scene. Drive a block over and try this. I started at the bar with the drink special of the day. It was a whisky based drink with vermouth and orange. I can't remember the name but it was great. Also had the meatballs which were some of the best I have had. The garlic was definitely there. I had the Roman carbonara. Homemade pasta with big chunks of pancetta was great. I got food envy when I tried the Moroccan chicken. The flavors coming out of that were out of this world. Get that if you come here.

Joy C.

Yelp
Service was fair. Food was good but pricey. They're charging 5th ave prices without the location or ambiance. Very limited menu.
google avatar

Yelp
It was fun coming back here. It was just as good as we remember. Such a neat interior and bar area. It worked out perfectly so hubs could watch the hockey game. We had cocktails- drop of the hat and iceberg. I preferred the iceberg. We shared a few late night bites- fish spread and hot pimento cheese dip. Both were delicious!! The service was great- Barry the owner was behind the bar and took care of us! Great place & will definitely be back next trip.

Jane S.

Yelp
5 of us went to Seventh South Waterfront after work Food presentation was well plated and everyone thought their entree was good, Service...not so much We had to ask wait service to locate our waiter to order cocktails We had to ask wait service to locate our waiter to order our entrees We had to ask wait service to remove our entree plates Our waiter did let us know that our entrees were "on the way" They were brought out 20 minutes later Our waiter finally asked if we wanted anything else and we remnded Him that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. Our waiter never smiled, never looked directly at us when speaking and was not interested in any personal pleasantries or interaction. My entree was $50 not including our cocktails and am very disappointed While I can't speak for my counterparts, I will never be back!!!
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
We had a group dinner here. I loved the outdoor patio area and the bar area too. The appetizers were delicious - pimento cheese, braised lamb ribs, tuna dip, and carbonara pasta. By the time it came to time to order dinner I was pretty full so I got the tomato and goat cheese salad. It was fresh and yummy. Service was very good and food came out quickly.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
I'm going to tell you what they don't tell you on Yelp. If you come between lunch and dinner hours they can offer you, "a burger and a few other small items". That's not why I go out of my way to go to an upscale restaurant.
google avatar

Jordan M.

Yelp
The bread was the best part of the meal. I was a little annoyed they didnt tell us that you have to pay for it but when I tasted it I was less annoyed because it was so delicious. My entree was just ok. I got the ahi tuna. The turn was cooked well but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. I don't think it was bad, just a personal preference. My grandma got the mahi and it was quite delicious. The ambiance was nice. Not too fancy but nice. The service was good but a bit slow. I would give this place another try even if it was just for the bread. lol
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
WOW!! Seventh South outdid itself! We have been there several times before but this was the best! The service was perfect. They seated us right at our reservation time, and the server greeted us promptly. Water and free bread came right away, as drink orders were taken. My wife loved her sweet and spicy cocktail, the martinis were spot on, and my margarita was great. We skipped preliminaries and went straight to main courses: short ribs, swordfish, sea bass and quinoa bowl with mushrooms. The swordfish came on lobster risotto-- and I can't wait to go back and eat it again! The sea bass and short ribs were also devoured and raved about. The ambience on the terrace outside is very calm, relaxing and satisfying. The whole evening is by far our best meal in Naples this season By far. And it is a lot better value than some places on 5th avenue that shall remain nameless. This is where you want to go. Right away!

Yelp
Ok I'm officially obsessed!! Came across this restaurant on a road trip to tampa and I want to move to Naples, just so I can come here all the time! We stopped by for a few appetizers and a couple of bloody Mary's and now we will be back on the drive back. The service here is excellent! We sat at the bar and both bartenders were very attentive and friendly. This place is definitely a great spot for a family day, brunch, and date night.

Erin W.

Yelp
A wonderful dining experience! Food was phenomenal, service was excellent and the ambiance very nice. Very much looking forward to our next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the short ribs which were incredible and shared the Raspberry White Chocolate Bread Pudding...wow! The service was attentive and jovial. I'd absolutely recommend!

Scott Samantha F.

Yelp
this is probably the best meal I have had here in Naples. We had the Seabass excellent.

Holly C.

Yelp
While it is not often that I consider leaving a review, the recent experience I had at Seventh South Waterfront was so good that I felt compelled to take the time to write this. My wife and I dined here simply by chance. We were staying in Naples and while driving past this restaurant, decided turn around and give it a try. From the time we entered this establishment until the time we stood up to walked out, we were treated with the utmost generosity. From the kind hostess Janice, amazing server Lauren, hard working and attentive unnamed wait and bar staff, and friendly GM Pal, all working together as a team to give some of the best and friendliest service we have received in any restaurant. In particular, we want to recognize our server Lauren, who was outstanding. Her understanding and explanation of the menu items was second to none. Lauren's genuine and enthusiastic willingness to help make a memorable dining experience for us was impressionable. And the food, it was equally impressionable. We both ordered fish entrees and an appetizer. The high expectations we had after seeing the beautiful meal presentations were not only met, but also exceeded. After having a bite of each other's meal, we both agreed that this was among the top fish dishes we have had the privilege of trying anywhere. The meticulous preparation of each dish was obvious, from the sourcing, trimming and portioning of the proteins to the perfect preparation of the smallest of ingredients that were included to make each dish. Everything was cooked to perfection and served at temperature. The flavor profile and layering for everything we ordered was absolutely amazing. The proteins, starches, sauces, garnishing, and multiple ingredients within each dish were all carefully selected for flavor, texture, and balance and and all cooked to create a flavor profile that only very few chefs are able to achieve. It was nothing short of impressive. Thinking there was no way a dining experience could be this good, we decided to try our luck again and returned once again, only to have the same great experience. For those looking for something next level, we encourage you to enjoy a meal and meet this wonderful team. If you are in Naples and want a truly outstanding and memorable dining experience, we highly recommend Seventh South Waterfront. Five stars is not enough!! Chris and Holly C.

Marianne Z.

Yelp
Top reviews do not tell a lie! This place is "happening" and the food is out of this world! The Sea Bass was delicious. Must try the focaccia bread and whipped chili honey butter spread. Lobster bisque was velvety and rich. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Family friendly. We sat inside, but I would also recommend outdoor patio too.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is cozy rustic beach feel. We were a large group of 10 on our way back to Miami from Sarasota. We stopped here on a Saturday night at 7pm. The hostess(forgot her name) asked me if I was joking and I pleaded, please I know we are a big group but we are starved and really wanted to dine here. They found us a table for our group in less than 10 minutes! I was impressed with this restaurant before even eating. Ordered a manhattan, made perfectly from the bar. All of the dishes listed below were wonderful. Of note was the miso Chilean sea bass it was unbelievably delicious and perfectly cooked, melted in your mouth. The tuna tartare was fresh and flavorful, any of the salads were tasty and dressed perfectly. Not pictured is the glass of red wine I had that was a decent size pour. Our waiter was more than patient with us, got all of our orders correct and put up with separate bills. Needless to say I will be stopping here every time I'm in Naples. Superb establishment I highly recommend.

Kelsey P.

Yelp
We sat on the patio on a colder (for Florida) evening. The heaters made it warm enough to be comfortable. Three in our party of four had the sea bass which we all decided was the best sea bass we have had anywhere ever and this group eats out quite a bit. The other member of our party got the sword fish which was also delicious. Our waiter was polite and quick, was willing to pack our desert to go when we asked. We canceled our reservation for another restaurant the next night and decided to go back here for the second night in a row.

Claire S.

Yelp
Amazing spot! My husband and I enjoyed cocktails at the bar, and then we decided to grab a table for dinner. We both opted for the Strip steak, which I'd highly recommend. The drizzled onions that came on top were so good that my husband ended up ordering a separate side of them. I couldn't resist the raspberry white chocolate bread pudding for dessert, even though it put me in a full food coma :) This place has a more unique atmosphere than many of the other restaurants we stopped in while staying near 5th. I'll be returning on my next trip to Naples.
google avatar

Neil H.

Yelp
Excellent food and even better drinks at a decent price for Naples. We always have good service as well.

Jess M.

Yelp
Such a great ambiance and amazing food! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our server recommended some items from the menu that they were known for and they did not disappoint! We started with the calamari which had a delicious sauce. We ordered the sea bass and red pesto rigatoni for our entrees which were incredible. The sea bass was so tender and the sauce was like nothing we've had before. The rigatoni pesto sauce was so good and just a hint of spicey which was great but not too much. We ended our meal with the raspberry bread pudding which was perfect, it was light and delicate. The cardamom ice cream was the perfect touch to it. If we lived closer, we would be regulars! I loved the whole experience at Seventh South and would love to come back in the future!

Yelp
Advertisement for happy hour...oh, but not in the dining area! WHAT! If you want happy hour prices sit out! Server said she would let us go this time! I didn't like their vibe!
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
Kitchen closes at 9 and then they change to a late night menu. Just be aware when booking to know what to expect. Pretty extensive list of pretty unique cocktails and a nice vibe.

Yelp
Everything at Seventh South was spectacular. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, can get really loud in there but we were seated in a cozy corner which was perfect. Our server was excellent, she was friendly and helpful and even acknowledged it was my birthday, that was so nice! We started with some drinks, the cocktails are crafted with care and for those who like a strong drink- this is your spot, I am someone who likes a little more fruity, flavorful and less alcohol taste so the drink I had was a little too powerful. The food.. oh man, the food tho. Chef had gazpacho brought out for us and that was so tasty! We started with the crispy lamb ribs- SO CRISPY. The bread service is like magic, I highly encourage everyone to try that- it's like fluffy but crispy and oh so delicious, the spread that is served with the bread was spicy yet sweet- we would've gladly ate that bread for the rest of the evening For my entree I chose the chorizo crusted mahi and my fiancé at the miso marinated sea bass. Both were singing with flavor, the lobster risotto that was served under the mahi was AMAZING, it was packed with a lemon butter sauce and a slight pomegranate reduction which complimented each other so well, kind of wish there was more of the pomegranate reduction to give it more of that kick, but it was absolutely a treat. The sea bass was equally as flavorful. The chef here is phenomenal, they know flavors and how to pair each ingredient to compliment the other, it was truly a culinary experience. For dessert we chose the bread pudding and I had a cappuccino to which she provided a rock candy wand as sweetener- this made my dessert more magical and took me back to when I was 13 and wanted to collect all the different colored rock candy because of how pretty they were lol. The bread pudding was to die for, so so moist and ugh the raspberry and white chocolate, thinking about it now makes me want to go back there for more, who cares if it's 9am, I can eat if for breakfast. As a well rounded experience of culinary magic- you will not be disappointed by the fare at Seventh South- it truly is a magical dining experience right in the heart of Naples! Can't wait to come back to visit (we live about 2 hours away) and try more of this brilliant menu.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on Friday night. Glad I made a reservation because the place was packed. We were seated inside and it was really loud. We ordered some wine and appetizers including delicious focaccia bread. For dinner we had the ribeye cap steak with chimichurri sauce au Groton potatoes and broccolini. The steak was excellent and so were the sides. Our waitress Lauren was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided great service. The place was very nice with beautiful lighting outside. Inside was a little hectic and loud but the food and service made up for it. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Brett M.

Yelp
The food at Seventh South is outstanding, great attention to detail and flavors to die for plus the service team is so good they looked after both of us with a care that shows.

Lindsay B.

Yelp
Food, drinks, atmosphere and service were all a 10!! I had the short rib, portion was enough for one flavors spot on. Drink pours were good for glassware. Our server was perfection, wish I remembered his name. Beautifully designed restaurant, maybe be noisy sitting outside in celebration park is right across the canal

Laura L.

Yelp
Beautiful patio dining and attentive (intelligent!) servers-- something you rarely see nowadays. One of my pet peeves is when service workers say "No problem" in response to a "thank you." Of course it's no problem-- it's your job! It may seem insignificant, but I appreciate professionalism and a "you're welcome" after I say "thank you." Besides great service, the food was amazing. I read the reviews before going, and was afraid that my expectations would be too high. I have never tasted fish prepared so well in my life. The Moroccan chicken was excellent, too, but the sea bass was pure bliss. As others have mentioned, the bread pudding was delicious-- not heavy and dense like a lot of bread puddings (and no raisins, which I was glad for). Do yourself a favor and go. Don't wait for a special occasion.

Yelp
Always great recommend the sea bass. Best in Naples. Good location great service. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Rebecca H.

Yelp
The first visit was horrible. We were routing in a corner while the sun went down. Hopefully we will have a better experience.

Dino V.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular, from the moment you walk in, to the chocolates at the end, service, flavor, and everything in between. Our waitress Lauren was awesomel. There's a reason seventh south is number one every time you search for restaurants in Naples! Get the sea bass and you'll leave happy.
google avatar

Steve C.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and our bartenders were friendly and attentive. We tried the iceberg theory with Codigo blanco - it had a light balance of sweet and sour and was decorated with a basil leaf on top. The apple and endive salad was very tasty (we like endive) and I was glad that the apples didn't add too much sweetness. The crispy lamb ribs were good. For entrees, we had the miso broiled sea bass which was stacked in layers of sticky rice and greens and the carbonara (very rich). Last but not least, the creme brûlée was a great finish.
