Severin's – The Alpine Retreat

From the moment you pull up to Severins Alpine Retreat, you realize this is not just a hotel — it’s an experience in humanity, warmth, and true hospitality. Before you even step inside, the staff greets you as if you’re coming home to family who are genuinely excited to see you. They introduce themselves, welcome you by name, and escort you into what feels less like a lobby and more like a beautiful living room. You’re invited to sit by a crackling fire, offered a beverage of your choice, and the check-in process happens right there — relaxed, personal, and unhurried. As if that weren’t enough, the chef himself came out to introduce himself and brought a small, custom snack he had created just for us. It was thoughtful, unexpected, and delicious — a preview of what was to come. We were then given a tour of the property, and with only two other families staying at the time, it felt like the resort was entirely ours. The spa is unreal: multiple saunas, a stunning pool, and serene spaces designed purely for relaxation and restoration. In fact, they encouraged me to take a later train on departure day so I could continue enjoying the amenities even after checkout. That level of care is rare. Dinner deserves its own standing ovation. You’re seated at a table that is yours for the entirety of your stay — a small detail that somehow makes you feel deeply grounded and cared for. Each dish is creative, beautifully presented, and full of surprising flavors. At the end of the meal, we were treated to homemade chocolates and sweets. Saying I felt like royalty doesn’t even begin to cover it. But what truly sets Severins apart is how the staff made me feel. Their kindness, openness, and genuine warmth gave me a renewed sense of humanity — and reminded me of the kind of environment I want to foster in my own life. Marc was our point of contact throughout the stay and was exceptional. Knowing I wanted to visit the Matterhorn, he prepared a hand-notated map along with a curated list of restaurants and bars to explore. Thoughtful doesn’t even begin to describe it. This stay was a treat beyond treats — spectacular from start to finish. And, unexpectedly, it’s also a beautiful place to realize that the person you’re traveling with may not be right for you… because when strangers show you this level of kindness, you quickly understand what you actually deserve. Turns out, it’s an excellent place for a breakup. 😂

One of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had! We decided to book this hotel as we know lèche well and love the resort. We booked for Christmas and arrived on 20th. For the entire week we either sat completely alone or with 1 other family for breakfast and dinner. There appeared to be no hotel guests and no life. It gets worst, best afternoon after our arrival, I notice a very strong smell of smoke. We were trying to nap but both of us started coughing and water streaming from our eyes. The manager in charge came down, no apologies just kept saying I can’t smell anything! I had to go in my rope to the balcony in the freezing cold for him to show me that the smell was coming from the outside. Anyway we left the windows open and went to dinner and slept with both windows open. The next day, no one asked about the smoke, in the afternoon the same smell. Called the manager Mark again and he said I can’t smell anything! At this point we felt very annoyed and felt they should have changed our room. Again we slept with window open. Best day my husband woke up sick from the cold. The 3rd day again smoke filled the room, I went up and realised it’s coming from the large fireplace in the library and asked them to pls not light it! Was completely ignored their keep it on. Next days I woke up sick and by this point the smoke we so bad the cleaning lady said she couldn’t stay in there for more than 5 minutes. So fiy when she said something they believed us and came to us with a new room. At this point our clothes stank of smoke and we were both sick and furious! This hotel is unloved, badly managed and totally over priced. No wonder it was empty over the busiest time of year. No one seemed to be in charge. Staff are inexperienced and chatting amongst themselves. Avoid this hotel. Any 4 start hotel in lèche will have more to offer. This is wildly expensive and nothing to offer. They ruined our Christmas!

Absolutely divine! We loved our cozy and well appointed room with views for miles. Most of all, we loved the food - thank you Marius. Each course was planned to perfection - we looked forward to each meal so much. Also the homemade chocolates after dinner were perfection. Walking into town on the forest path was sublime. Amazing stay - thanks to all the staff who couldn't do enough to take care of us.

Disappointing experience for the price (1700 euros per night). Within the first 30 seconds of entering our room, we found what appeared to be an ecstasy pill on the floor, which was alarming. Five days later, the staff informed us it was actually a sleeping pill, but this was still unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. On the positive side, the restaurant was nice, and the food was excellent. However, some bottles of wine and champagne were heavily overpriced—three times their real value. This is a tiny hotel, not a nightclub. The staff seemed stressed and unable to resolve simple issues like non-functional speakers or Netflix, both advertised amenities. They never worked actually. The room was overly warm with no temperature control, and cleanliness was below standard for the price (dust on the headboard and gym floor seems to be clean once a month). While the location is lovely, the value for money was significantly lacking compared to other luxury hotels we’ve stayed at. Would not return.

We stayed 5 nights at this amazing place. And from the minute we arrived it was a great experience. The hotel itself is cozy and beautifully furnished. The rooms are very big and well appointed and the spa and pool are great after a day on ski. An the food is exquisite. But what makes the stay extra memorable is the welcoming and friendly atmosphere that the entire team creates around you and the impeccable service they provide - they are truly great hosts.

This hotel is perfect. We loved every moment; from the beautiful location in the mountains (with spectacular views) to the well appointed and spacious rooms, complete with log fire and huge bathtub. The sound system also deserves a mention, with speakers throughout. |All staff were so polite and spoke amazing English. They could not be more helpful. The ski lockers are slick and they pick you up straight from there and take you to the lift in their fancy cars ;) |The restaurant was incredible. We LOVED all the dishes that came out. We are 3x nights in the restaurant and never got bored of it. |Can’t wait to come back!!

Severin*s is the exactly as it says a luxury alpine retreat, a boutique hybrid chalet hotel that basically has the best of both worlds. The intimacy of a chalet but the services of a luxury 5 star hotel. With only nine suites and a 4 bedroom residence it is small with a strong team so you are really well looked after. The suites are huge so real feeling of space all with their own living room as well as bedroom. At times we felt like we were the only guests. The food is incredible and real experience and dinner is included in the rates (just like a chalet)

We stayed a full week here in a junior suite. The room was immaculate and service exceptional. Dinner each night was unique and varied in the menu choices. The chef came from the Omnia in Zermatt. I would say the only negative is the somewhat remote location in Stubenbach, which is about 2km from Lech, which is quiet itself compared to other ski towns.However, they run a complimentary shuttle anytime you ask. Lech is a very quiet sophisticated ski area. As idyllic as anywhere I’ve ever been. Severin’s, along with a couple of other local hotels, is the cream of the cream, and really takes care of you.
