The 20 Best Pizzerias in Rome

"Sforno draws faithful crowds near the historic Cinecittà studios on Rome’s southeastern edge. Diverging from the thin-crust Roman style, the pizzeria makes a thick-rimmed, Naples-inspired pie, topped with classic and creative ingredients. The signature toppings include the Greenwich (stilton and port reduction) and cacio e pepe (black pepper and grated pecorino Romano). Fried starters like fiori di zucca (fried battered squash blossoms filled with mozzarella and anchovy) and assorted supplì (fried rice croquettes) are still among the best in the game." - Katie Parla

Pizza was extremely delicious here. It could be the best pizza ever. Suppli was delicious too. You get an online menu when you arrive. We made a reservation but it wasn’t full on Thursday evening. Stuff is friendly. Toilets were clean too. People here don’t speak English 😅

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The price is fair and they are very very tasty.

Excellent service. The kindness of the staff alone would be worth 5 stars. Variety of pizzas and starters is pretty large including some unusual recipes. Quality is above average but not world class. Overly expensive for the location and the menu

Had such a great experience here! My partner and I ordered different suppli’s and pizza! They were amazing! We also had a white chocolate dessert special and the tiramisu! It was also amazing! Definitely recommend checking this place out! The owner was super sweet and spoke English!!

Pizza and food is quite good. The waiters are very rapid and kind. Unfortunately we had a seat close to the bathroom and it's door didn't close well. In general the environment is not accurate although it seems clean. I would recommend to change the very old wallpaper, give a new paint and ensure the bathroom doors always close, at least.

Every night in Rome, I tried out a new place from the Guardian's "10 Best Pizzas in Rome" list, and Sforno was hands down my favorite. It's out of the way and the decor is utilitarian, but the door was totally covered with award and recommendation stickers, which you know is going to be a good sign. Pizzas were hearty and delicious. Stretchy crust, interesting and well balanced toppings, and good presentation. Would absolutely recommend.

The service was great and the food was phenomenal. The Lasagna and the Margarita pizzas were fabulous. It's just a short walk from the metro to go to the best pizza place in town. Even if you are far away you should go.

DO NOT ORDER THE SPECIALS. The one with cheese and black pepper is actually the worst food-experience I have ever had. The pizza is a cheese crime, and should be illegal. On the other hand, the pizza funghi was quite tasty, and the crust was probably the best one I have ever tasted. Still, I've had better pizzas in Oslo, Norway, so I dont see how this is rated the best pizza in Rome.

Yelp
I searched online for the best pizza in Rome, Sforno was at the top of the list. We took the metro(A line) here after our visit to the Vatican, it was about two blocks from the station. We arrived around 6:45 and decided to have a beer at the snack bar a few doors down while we waited. Some locals asked us what we were doing in the area(I guess not too many tourist stop by). We asked them about Sforno and they confirmed that the food was delicious. We walked over at exactly 7:30 and were seated immediately. Our waitress recommended a bottle of wine, it was delicious. I ordered the Margherita di bufala, my mom ordered the diavola. My mom loved hers, she said it was the right amount of spicy. Mine was delicious. This is the kind of pizza we've been search for, unfortunately we weren't able to make it to Napoli because of poor planning but this was the best pizza we had in Rome. It was also very affordable, two pizzas & a bottle of wine for 36,50. Our waitress was great, I will definitely return whenever I visit Roma again. I'm just disappointed we waited until our last night in Rome to stop by.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! Indeed the best of Rome. When I arrived knew that I was in the good place as it was full of only Italians all ordering pizza and saying molto buono. Bit far from the city center though.

Yelp
On a quest to find a great pizza in Rome, my husband and I took the Metro all the way down to the Subaugusto exit. We wanted to give Sforno a try since it's a name that popped up on a few sites. Staff is friendly, prices are decant, and the pizza is okay. Thicker, chewier crust than De Remo. We got the mushroom and another one (name escapes me), with eggplant and basil. Not enough basil for my taste, sauce wasn't too flavorful and neither were the mushrooms. They use white button mushrooms, which aren't wow. Too much bread and cheese for my taste. I prefer lighter and thinner. On a side note, their tiramisu was pretty good, but this review is only for the pizza. I added two pics.

Yelp
If you want Neapolitan style pizza in Rome, Sforno is the best there is. It's a bit outside the city center but is easily accessible off of the metro and is kind of fun to see a part of town that most other tourists are missing. The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars is after my visit I headed down to Naples and was blown away by the pies there. Absent of that trip though, this would've been the best pizza I had in Italy (and I had a ton). I highly highly recommend bringing a friend and ordering something a little more classic and then also trying one of their special pizzas. We went with the Greenwich, topped with mozzarella, stilton, and a port reduction sauce but I was eying the Cacio e Pepe pizza at the table next to me and wished I had ordered that (plus seriously, where else in the world would you get Cacio e Pepe pizza?). Definitely worth the stop!

Yelp
The worst pizza we ever eating in Italy. After Naples restaurants -- food in this place is terrible. Service is regular, prices is expensive. Don't buy wine, it's not good.
