SGD Tofu House

SGD Tofu House is one of my go-to comfort spots. My absolute favorite is the cold noodle (Naengmyeon) — perfectly chewy, refreshing, and honestly the best meal anytime… especially after a round of golf. It just hits different. All the banchan are consistently great, and the tofu soup (I get it extra spicy) never disappoints. If you’re ordering combos, don’t forget the Spanish mackerel, spicy pork, or LA galbi, all solid choices. The kids love the tteokguk (dumpling rice cake soup), which makes it a perfect family spot too. Friendly staff, great service, and true comfort food every time. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went here for the first time today and absolutely loved it. She ordered the seafood tofu stew, and I ordered the kimchi tofu stew. We both chose mild spice, and it was perfect. The side dishes were fresh and tasty, and the rice was cooked exceptionally well. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend this place!

This was my first time coming to a mom and pop Korean restaurant and I was not disappointed. The staff was super friendly, happy to help us with questions about the menu and to make recommendations. The tofu soup was one of the best soups I have ever had! It had rich flavor and was silky smooth. You get to choose the level of spice and you get a giant bowel of it with your entrée. Highly recommend checking them out!

The portions were very generous. I ordered tonkatsu. There is one regular and one cheese tonkatsu in a plate. Veey delicious. The salad and soup were also very good. The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. It felt like a comforting home-cooked meal. Highly recommend!

This is NOT the famous SGD Tofu House, despite the name. Yelp doesn’t have the “SGD” in the name, but google maps does for some reason. Very misleading and I feel betrayed. The food was alright. Can recommend their Tofu Soup if you’re already here. But using the name is basically a trademark crime… —-Edit To Owner’s reply: This is an incredibly long reply to justify something I was not addressing in my review. I’m sure you are right that there are official trademark limitations linked to geographies. However, there are probably 100 ways how you could refer in your store name to the area “Sogongdong”. But calling it “SGD Tofu House” is 100% misleading for people in US who are familiar with Korean cuisine and know famous big chains like SGD Tofu House. I also think if you would truly believe in your own trademark explanations, you would put “SGD Tofu House” as store front sign and also call it “SGD Tofu House” in Yelp etc. Which BOTH is not the case. For good reasons, which you know yourself, I’m sure. If you would change your store sign to align with your Google Maps name, I wouldn’t have any problem btw. Your explanation is like - opening a computer store with your own developed computers, naming it “Apple” and then explaining everyone that nobody can trademark “Apple”, because it’s a fruit name. Even if you’re right, you’re missing the point. And to make my final point - the reason I came over to dine at your place is ONLY because I thought this is the famous SGD Tofu House chain. Not saying your food is bad. It was actually solid - I don’t regret it. So in the end, your marketing trick actually worked… lol But this is a sneaky technique you’re leveraging, which I (and I’m sure many others) don’t appreciate.

Absolutely fantastic experience at SGD Tofu House! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of the comforting aromas you hope for at a great Korean restaurant. The food, service, and overall experience truly deserve five stars. A special shoutout to our server, Kyong Fox, who made the entire meal even better. Kyong was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They checked in at just the right moments, made excellent recommendations, and ensured everything came out perfectly. Service like this really elevates a dining experience, and Kyong Fox went above and beyond. As for the food…. wow. The Galbi Combo was outstanding. The short ribs were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, clearly marinated with care and grilled just right. Each bite was rich and satisfying, and the portion size was generous. The Beef Bulgogi Combo was just as impressive, beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked, and incredibly flavorful without being overwhelming. Both combos came with delicious sides that complemented the main dishes perfectly, making the meal feel complete and authentic. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and comforting, the kind of meal that makes you want to come back again and again. SGD Tofu House truly delivers on quality, flavor, and hospitality. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving amazing Korean food and top-notch service. We’ll definitely be returning and hopefully being served by Kyong Fox again!

Man was this place a pleasant surprise! My wife's turn to pick the restaurant and picked here. I'm honestly not a fan of most Korean food. So we order the seafood pancakes, spicy chicken bulgolgi, and kimchi. All three were 5 out of 5! The seafood pancakes were full of seafood and was crunchy and fresh, delicious! Might be my new favorite restaurant!

I really loved enjoying Korean food as good as this place. I loved the wine. I enjoyed it a lot. I recommend it. I always like to read reviews before visiting a restaurant, and this is a place with very good food. They just need one thing for customers who don't know the food and ask about the dishes they recommend. In my case, the lady who served me wasn't patient when I asked what they recommended. She was upset. But aside from the service, the food is delicious.

This is my new all time favorite Korean restaurant in Houston. The food including all of the side dishes are made in house and taste homemade. The nengmyun, soon tofu stew, and sullungtang were all phenomenal. Not ktown la level but better than San Diego and all tasting homemade. The ladies that work there all feel like Korean aunties. Have enjoyed coming here and eating what tastes like homemade Korean cooking! Very authentic.

Our first time to try Tofu House based on the high reviews. It was busy when we arrived for dinner but had a couple of tables still available. Restaurant is broken up into different areas and have some spaces that is a bit more private. The lady there was chatty and friendly and makes us feel at home. Since it's our first time, we ordered our favorites... seafood pancake, LA galbi, galbi tang and tofu soup. Our ordered came with a number of typical panchan (side dishes) and all were good. For the seafood pancake, we were a bit disappointed as a review said what they got was crispy. Ours felt like a lot of batter and was rushed as it was not crispy except for a few area on the edges. The galbi tang (short rib noodle soup) was tasty and hits the spot! While it was not the best I've had before it was decent. We ordered the LA galbi combo that came with tofu soup. The tofu soup was very salty and was hard to finish. It did have a kick. If it was not that salty, it would have been good. Saving the best for last. The LA galbi was amazing! One of the best we have had. The meat was tender and well seasoned/marinated. Just for the LA Galbi, we will go back in a heartbeat. Definitely don't miss out on that. Will plan to try their other dishes next time.

Took awhile finding this spot since the signs were in Korean, but I guess that's what makes it authentic! Came by on a Sunday afternoon bellies empty and was ready for a treat. The restaurant was fairly pack when we came, but was seated within minutes. The staff were very attentive and gave us multiple options of what to get. Prices were reasonable and all came out quickly. Our side dishes especially were really plentiful and yummy, tied together with our main course of savory, sweet, and sour. We ordered the beef short ribs and seafood tofu soup. Also the sour noodle soup was cold and refreshing.

I got some soup to-go when I was feeling a little sick and it really hit the spot. I got the GOPCHANG SOON TOFU SOUP and I loved it! When I ordered, they asked how spicy I wanted it, so I ordered it in mild and the flavor was great! The beef intestines are the kind that are like a tube. They were softer than I was expecting, as opposed to being chewy, but had great flavor! Loved the tofu too. Very flavorful, soft, and silky. I also got the JAPCHAE, which had great flavor and was nicely chewy. It was exactly what I wanted and expected. Got it with beef, which was in tiny cubes and kinda dry. But the star of the dish is definitely the noodles, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I really appreciated how nicely everything was packaged. It felt like they deal with a lot of to-go orders and have a great system down. It came in a cardboard box instead of a bag, which is better for the environment. Also loved that they included banchan for a to-go order. I wasn't expecting it, so it was a nice surprise.

Really enjoyed every dishes we ordered here. I've always been a fan of their tofu soup and cold noodle and everything is just as flavorful I remember. Not sure if this is the same owner as the one in Katy, but service is a lot friendlier, and having a call button is a game change. I love that their combo is reasonably priced yet the portion is generous enough that you can try multiple dishes without compromising. One of my fav combos is the tofu soup or cold noodle with galbi. I also recommend the seafood pancake for sharing! I also appreciate how every dish comes with some protein or accompaniments even if you don't expect it. For example, ttekbokki comes with an egg and dumplings - unexpected but totally complete the dish for me. Also, tteokbokki was on the tangier side which is not what I'm used to but was interesting. Pork bossam came with two types of radishes as well as salted shrimp that paired perfectly with the fatty pork.

This place is so yummy!! I tried a variety of things and liked everything. The soon tofu is fantastic. So is the seafood pancake! Ooh and the galbi and japchae were delicious as well. The portions aren't huge but you can tell the food is authentically and lovingly prepared (ginkgo nuts steamed with the rice-- haven't seen that in awhile!). Service was a bit slow since they were very busy during the lunch hour, but they were all so nice. I will definitely be back!

Nut allergy friendly: All banchan (appetizers) and the food we ordered were safe. Time to Appetizers (seafood pancake): 12 minutes Time to Entrees: ~20 minutes We got there around 6PM on a Friday evening and had no issues getting seated with a party of 7. They were considerate to put two tables together for us and it fit our party perfectly. Service was very fast at bringing us water or any drinks orders. I ordered a seafood pancake and the makgeolli combo for the table. The seafood pancake is huge, splits easily 8 ways, and is loaded with seafood. 5/5 highly recommend. For entrees, I ordered the E6 Assorted Soon Tofu Soup. It was the perfect size to be very filling with rice. There were a few pieces each of clam, shrimp, and beef that made it very well balanced. Spicy was not too hot and pretty flavorful. I sampled my friend's kimchi pancake, which was also huge and very good. The regular bulgogi was the weakest thing ordered here. I would recommend if you want meat to just pay a bit more for the galbi. Overall, fantastic portions and very sharable dishes with very good service. Will definitely be back!

It's always a treat to swing by the OG Korea Town restaurants in Spring Branch! With the unexpected chill coming through town this weekend, a piping hot bowl of sundubu-jjigae was exactly what I needed to beat the last throes of Houston's "winter" after a morning stroll through Memorial City Mall. Here are my thoughts on what we tried: Seafood pancake - Crisp and savory, this was first to arrive at our table and we devoured it accordingly! Despite the thickness of the pancake, it's not stodgy or dry at all - it's a remarkable feat of texture and taste that definitely set the right tone for our lunch. I'd definitely get this again! Spicy pork bulgogi - Served on a bed of onion slices atop a hot skillet, this bulgogi was tender and juicy - no stringiness or dryness at all. Eat it with the freshly steamed rice or the kimchi to balance the richness of the meat. Mulnaengmyeon - Cold noodles in cold weather? Actually a perfect combo! There's nothing quite like chasing fiery, grilled meat with refreshing, springy noodles swimming in a tart, crisp broth. If you don't use the mustard bottle to amp up your bowl, you're missing out! Original sundubu-jjigae - This jiggly tofu soup came last since they made a fresh one for me. It had a bit of a thicker consistency than I'm usually accustomed to, which was a nice change of pace! My medium-spicy was a true medium but I think I could have ordered spicy instead. If you order this in combination with grilled entrée, you only get to choose between pork or beef, but I'm curious what the other options taste like (my perennial favorite elsewhere is the seafood sundubu). Banchan - You can tell everything is made in-house - I'll always go for the potatoes and fish cake first, but I liked all of them! The restaurant is staffed by the most welcoming Korean ladies; it feels like they're cooking for you as a guest in their house (that just happens to be a restaurant). Do note that there's a small discount during weekday lunch time hours, if that so moves you - next time I'm in the area I'll definitely drop by for a hearty meal!

Another hidden gem off of longpoint rd. Definitely getting bookmarked. Lady helping us was so nice and food was hot and tasty. Korean food is my favorite of all.

Our group of 3 treated ourselves to a lunchtime feast that ended us in a food coma. The highlight from our visit was the golden brown Seafood Pancake that was packed with so much squid, crisped to perfection and dipped in a tangy soy sauce to enjoy. We shared a large portion of traditional pork Bossam that is served with radish and cabbage wraps. The pork was tender and had the right amount of fat. Combo Naengmyeon (cold noodles) paired with Galbi was really refreshing and addicting. Everything tasted so well together and it was downright delicious. The restaurant has great selections, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The portion was generous and we had enough leftover to take home for another meal.

A decent ressraurant to get some good Korean food. I've come here multiple times getting different entries, appetizers like seafood pancake, and soup. They do not disappoint. The service is fast and the servers are very friendly. The vibe is great.

Went back to try SGD Tofu House in Houston again. It's located in an area full of Korean restaurants in spring branch. There's plenty of parking and I was seated right away. Whenever you're ready to order, there's a button you press that will call a waitress over. I ordered the hot stone bibimbap and soon tofu soup combo. It's supposed to be their original beef or pork tofu soup but the waitress was nice and let us get the seafood one. Since it is a combo, the portion size of the tofu soup was a lot smaller than usual. I also got the mulnaengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle). They provide an egg for the tofu soup as well as a set of banchan. We got the tofu soup with mild level but it honestly wasn't spicy at all, I could've definitely done medium. The soup was very flavorful though and I enjoyed it with the tofu a lot. The hot stone bibimbap had beef and mixed vegetables, the hot stone made the rice crispy and kept everything warm. They also gave us a bottle of gochujang but I forgot to use it. The cold noodles were really refreshing and I liked the flavor of the broth. They also provide vinegar and mustard if you want to season it to your liking.

Who doesn't like a nice, bubbling stone pot of tofu soup on a cold rainy day? Except those days aren't common in Houston and sometimes you still want soondubu. Came upon this spot when I was out in the area for grocery shopping and glad we gave it a shot. This is, what I would call, a traditionally decorated Korean restaurant. It had the wooden tables, booths, chairs that I found very nostalgic. We were quickly sat on a Saturday afternoon and welcomed and provided basic info about the menu. The servers were really nice and attentive and checked on whether we needed more banchan. Food wise, we got the seafood pancake and a combo bibimbap/soondubu. The seafood pancake was amazing, super crisp yet light and packed with seafood and green onions. The dipping sauce for it really complimented it and having it come on a cast iron skillet type thing kept it warm and crisp throughout our meal. The bibimbap and soondubu were great, I always like to let the rice sit there to crisp and brown. They give us a gochujang sauce for the bibimbap on the side, which was super nice cause I eat ~spicy~ and my partner doesn't. We had a great experience and food here and definitely looking to come back. The prices seem a hit high but its a lot of food, along with nice service, and unlimited banchan, so really, it all works out in the end!

Authentic little gem with great food and service! Located at the end of a strip mall. Grilled mackerel, tteokbboki and bibimbap was spot on. Soondubu was not the best, it still decent. Potato was my our favorite banchan. Barley tea was offered. Recommend for a cozy dinner with friends and family.

We enjoyed the gopchang soon tofu stew and the spicy chicken bulgogi combo with the extra spicy. It was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I loved all the side dishes, the barley tea, and the rice pot with hot water at the end. It was a perfect meal to warm up on a cold day.

Seriously the most authentic Korean food I've EVER had! You can tell they put their hearts into cooking those dishes. Lovely staff always checking in. Nice & cozy inside.

Underrated Korean BBQ spot in the little nook of Spring branch! I absolutely love their fried squid udon dish and their tofu soup combos with marinated short ribs. Service was good.

Not sure how I have missed this place for this long.... Little restaurant, quiet shopping center, I would have missed it had I not Yelped. Charming, feels authentic and comfortable. The staff, who speaks little English, were so incredibly nice and welcoming. They were so attentive to their guests. I wanted to hug them before I left, they were so sweet to me. The seafood pancake had a crispy outside and soft, chewy inside. Huge portion, size of a medium pizza and definitely worth the price. The sauce it came with was tastey! The vegetable tofu soup was full of tofu and veggies, great broth taste. The mild was spicy enough for my American taste buds, so becareful. Again, it was worth the price, unlike some places that give you very little in the soup. Loved all the complimentary banchan and the rice soup they give you at the end. They even had on Korean tourism t.v so it felt like I was eating in Korea, while starring out the window as people walked by. Clean bathroom to boot! Loved every thing about this place. I see this place becoming a regular for me. Must try!

We came to Tofu House quite a few times over the years, also the Mason Road one, which is now closed. But it seems like we'll be looking for another Korean restaurant. The quality has degraded. We ordered Seafood Pancake. Barely any seafood, the inside of the pancake looks like it wasn't even cooked properly. Looks like it was sitting in the freezer for too long and not freshly made. The sides were meh at best. Kimchi looked kind of old, the spicy cucumber didn't taste quite right. Service was ok. They answered quickly when we pressed the buton, but otherwise they do not come check on you. Food came out some what slow, even though it didn't seem that busy.

The full name for the restaurant is SGD Tofu House, not sure why the intials are missing on Yelp! We have been here a couple of times since relocated in the Spring Branch area, and it is one of the solid Korean restaurant options with affordable combo meals/selections to choose from. The auntie servers are so quick and helpful as well! Of the dishes we have sampled, the cold noodle and bibimbap were great, the bossam was okay (the meat cuts were not the nicest looking that I'm used to). The seafood pancake offer an outer layer of crunch factor when I requested to have it extra crispy, but the inside was gooey - just FYI, depending on how you like it. The gooey inside made me feel like the batter was undercooked, but others may like it! Tl;dr: Good Korean restaurant in Spring Branch/Korea town with affordable selections.

My first review was when the restaurant opened. This is my updated review. Still a solid place for soft tofu stew!! Now the place is busy, almost all the tables were filled. Service was a little slower because they were busy. But we waited patiently because we knew good things were yet to come! I wanted to order the kalbi and tofu stew combo but the stew option was only for their basic tofu stew. We got 5 different kinds of banchan (with refills) and of course the scorched rice . Dinner for 2 for under $40 (even with tip!)

Probably my new favorite Korean restaurant in Houston! + Mom-and-pop feel + Banchan are legit + Fair prices + Variety of traditional Korean dishes, including some uncommon ones, like squid and sea snails + Yukgaejang actually has mountain roots! Every Korean place I've been to in Houston does not put mountain roots in their yukgaejang... including the new restaurant that's literally called Yukgaejang! FINALLY, I can die in peace. - They had incorrect hours at one point, but it seems to have been fixed now. Oh, before I forget, spicy really does mean SPICY. You have been warned!

Food here was always amazing, real tast of Korean. Good quality as always. Tofu soup was delicious. The side dishes were all fresh and amazing Service was fast. Nice servers.

I had SUCH a good time at SDG Tofu House. My group ordered a huge spread, but I had the half & half ngmyeon and shared the seafood pancake. I really enjoyed the half & half as it allowed me to have two fantastic dishes in one with the perfect serving size. The mulaengmyeon was refreshing and tangy, paired with radish, cucumber, sliced beef, and half a hard boiled egg. The bibimnaengyeon was vibrant, sweet, and spicy. I really enjoyed this dish, but I think it could use a bit more spice. The seafood pancake was savory with the right amount of thickness, and it paired very well with the sauce. The food was good, but the star of the night goes to our server. She was SO kind and attentive and she really took care of us this evening. She taught us how to eat certain dishes, scooped our rice, cut up my noodles, and more. We absolutely adored her, it was like being taken care of by a mother. This was my first time at Tofu House, but it certainly won't be my last!

I didn't realize how good soondubu and seafood pancake could be. Not even kidding when I say this place has the best korean in Houston. The soondubu was seasoned so well and had so many pieces of scallops and seafood. The seafood pancake was crisped perfectly with a chewy interior full of toppings. We also ordered the galbi which was also very delicious and well charred. I didn't love the banchan as much as other korean restaurants I've been to, but I did hear that tofu house changes their banchan daily, so maybe we got unlucky. Overall, so delicious and I definitely recommend this place to anyone just based on their seafood pancake and soondubu alone!

This is one of the places I go for comfort. It's a place to have any easy meal and worth the price. Their side dishes go well with the main tofu soup. And this place is unique in the fact their rice is cooked in a hot stone pot. Which tastes better than a rice cooker. However that's my opinion and it's not something you can do for every day meal. The service is always impeccable and I like how relaxed this place is.

Tofu House is my favorite non-AYCE Korean restaurant in all of Houston, located in the unofficial Koreatown of Spring Branch. I absolutely love seeing all of the adorable Korean aunties running the restaurant every time we come in. They're super friendly and make the ambiance feel extremely authentic. Not to mention their food is SO good. Their Galbi Combo that comes with the Beef Ribs & Soon Tofu Soup is my comfort meal.

My favorite local tofu house, so far all the soondubu options have not disappointed. My favorite is the gopchang soondubu, and the assorted soondubu. I love dining in as they provide all the side dishes, and the rice comes out in a sizzling stone pot. Recently tried the seafood pancake and bossam. Pancake was crispy and the bossam was soft. Ambiance is cozy and the service is very friendly. I never feel rushed when I dine here but yet it's a quick meal that I can drop in, eat, and go.

This is my favorite Korean spot in Spring Branch when I am craving a soft tofu soup! They have the most variety and best quality of side dishes that change almost every time. The flavors are always on point and having a service bell at every table allows for peak attentiveness and care! My go to orders are the galbi combo meal and seafood pancake.

I was looking for something warm on a very chilly day in Houston. I found this gem and really enjoyed it. I got the galbi with tofu soup and let me tell the soup hit the spot. It reminded me of a home cooked meal made with love. It brought back such lovely memories. The galbi was nicely cooked and I liked how you can adjust the spice level on the tofu soup. I got mine mildly spicy and it was just right for my palate. Service was very warm and friendly. The aunties serving me were very motherly. I loved that. I think to compliment my meal they served me porridge with the sweet rice drink in a hot stone. I couldn't finish it but it was really really good and I thought it was a nice touch. Side dishes are also refillable. Overall, this place made me really feel like I was eating really good quality food served with love and care. I'd return for more tofu soup and to try the seafood pancake others have been raving about.

Swung by for lunch on a weekday looking for a new place to try in the area. Tofu house is located in a small strip plaza on Long Point. The interior is quaint and more traditional than some of the other Korean restaurants in the area. Service was good! We ordered the seafood pancake, and the galbi and bulgogi plates. The seafood pancake has more seafood in it than expected; squid, scallop, and shrimp are in there. The contents and consistency is good, it is lacking a bit in the flavor department. The bulgogi came on a bed of onions. The flavor for me was light and it would've been much better being more marinated. The galbi was a bit tough but had good seasoning. There were also much more onions on the galbi plate to add some height to the plate. Overall, it tastes like a more homey Korean meal with a lot of locals here. I felt the meats were a bit lacking and below par compared to how we cook Korean at home. The seafood pancake has great ingredients but was unfortunately a bit bland. Perhaps we didn't order the best things (the tofu and soup) off the menu but the items we tasted were average.

Tofu house is a stop that you have to visit if you want some authentic Korean food. There are many things that mad this an amazing visit. For starters, they were very patient with us even with a busy scheduled. Some of my party arrived late but they did not pressure us to hurry and order to turn over the table. Secondly, when they bought us plates and dishes they got mad at us for disturbing out the plates. When our seafood pancake came out, they had to collect all our plates and redistribute back to us. They provided excellent service where not a lot of places do now a days. At tofu house, it is decorated like your typical mom and pop Korean restaurant. There are buttons that allow you to get the attention of the staff in which they came in a timely manner. They help bring what we wanted quickly such as drinks or slide dishes. In addition they were very generous with the side dishes. Although do not abuse it, and make sure you finish it especially if you asked for more. Finally with the food. The Seafood pancake was crispy and fluffy. The pancake was made with lots of toppings and every bite had a piece of seafood. The sauce was paired perfectly with the seafood pancake. I order a spicy pork bulgogi combo. Which comes with a smaller meat option and a smaller soup, and a bowl of rice. They also help scoop the rice from the clay pot to smaller bowls at table side. But don't let small fool you. It is still a good amount and I left stuffed. One thing that was interesting to me was what they did with the rice stuck on the clay pot. You can eat it as is or they can poor some hot barley tea and you can eat it like congee. I ate it like congee and it is very refreshing.

One of the worst meals I've had in a long time, the banchan was salty, the bulgogi was tasteless and stir-fried (not grilled), the meat was somehow both fatty and dry. The japchae was good, but $18 for a small plate of noodles is kind of insane. The bill was over $100 and there food was terrible.

I was so glad to find SGD had a second location in Houston closer to me to satisfy my cold noodle cravings. Even though their name is tofu house, my usual go tos are the naengmyeon and the seafood pancake. The pancake is super crispy and has plenty of seafood, definitely one of the best I've had around town. I've been here a few times for these items but I recently tried their tofu soup for the first time and it was really good. For my future visits I'm going to be torn about which dish to order now that I've had it! They give plenty of side dishes to go with the meal and it even comes with a small side salad. Their meat combos are also a good deal for about $27. I highly recommend this spot when you have a craving for Korean food!

We ordered tofu soup and a meat dish. They were both delicious. I have been there several times and the meals are consistently prepared.

Food excellent service excellent and I would give this place 5 stars but having Justin Bieber's song "more than life" on repeat the entire time we were there was extremely unpleasant

Absolutely amazing and authentic! The staff is so pleasant and happy and really add to the entire experience. Everything is well priced -- 1 combo meal is enough to share between 2 people. Highly recommend

Tofu House is a small restaurant in Korea Town (Houston has korean restaurants all bunched up near long point and the spring branch area, so this small area I would consider it koreatown.) It was my first time here. Food: [description, flavor notes, rating, and if i'd get it again] Spicy Chicken + Tofu Soup (medium spice) Combo: Spicy Chicken - Thin sliced chicken with a sweet spicy gochujang based sauce sat on a bed of onions. - Not spicy at all, sweet, refreshing sharpness from the onions - 5.7/10 - it's good, but i'd try something else next time Tofu Soup (medium spice level) - Soft tofu stew with beef cubes, tofu, and egg. - Not very spicy, hot, comforting, hearty, savory umami, kimchi tangy - 8.2/10 - I liked it and would get it again! Comes with banchan - soy glazed potato, kimchi, cucumber, fishcake, bean sprouts, and brocolli Good portions and great combo deal! They also bring out barley tea and pour it into the hot stone rice bowl to make a "dessert". It tastes just like tea and rice; not sweet. Service + Ambiance: [timeliness, vibes] 20 minutes for food to come out. Nice waiters. Casual, quiet place. Not many customers. Very cold inside though. Bring a jacket. Overall, Tofu House is a small no frills korean restaurant. It is good, but I think there are other better Korean restaurants in Houston that i'd rather go to. I would go again if someone wanted to, but I wouldn't go on my own proactively.

My favorite tofu soup spot! I was so sad when the location in Katy closed, but this one isn't too far and it's just as good. The service is great, and the employees are super kind and helpful. I love the little "private" booth seats. They have cute little doorbells at each table that you can ring anytime you need assistance. Everything is great from the Soju to the spicy pork. I recommend the dumpling tofu, soup, assorted tofu soup, and of course, my favorite the C3, which is the tofu soup and pork combo. since I discovered this place, I've probably been at least four times within the past couple of months. Great service, good prices, pristine bathrooms, great water (no tap here ) what more could a girl ask for?!

Service was phenomenal as the aunties kept checking on how we are and if we anything else. Water and banchan were always refilled. Ordered tofu soup both mild and spicy. I wish it was a little bit spicier than I am used to but it was flavorful and tasty. So far is another spot in the Houston metro to go for tofu soup. And in addition, it was toddler approved

I'm a fan of the Katy location so I decided to give this place a try. They are essentially the same in quality. Good variety of bonchon as always. Galbi was pretty tender and marinaded nicely. Soondubu was comforting and had a good amount of spice. Servers checked in on me frequently which was nice.

Great dining experience at Tofu House. Started off with the crispy mandu which were very tasty and I liked the spicy sauce that came with them. Got the combo with tofu soup and spicy bbq pork for the main. The pork was very tasty and the soup was a good portion. Just wish the onions were grilled a bit longer for the pork. I liked all the banchan, especially the braised potato. The bean sprouts could use a little more seasoning. Everyone was super friendly and I liked how the tables were all a bit secluded from one another. I look forward to coming back!

My new go-to spot for Korean stews! My daughter loves tofu soup and this place came highly recommended by a Korean friend. We went on a Saturday night and ran into two other Korean friends and they ran into a few other Korean friends - so just by that alone - you know it's a top notch Korean restaurant!... and it wasn't even busy. We ordered a couple of stews, bossam, short ribs, cold buckwheat soup and the seafood pancake. All were great! My only complaint was the seafood pancake looked nothing like the photo on the menu but it was still excellent. The waitress even served us the pancakes individually, something I wasn't quite used to. If you order a stone pot of rice, FYI they put barley water in it after scooping out the rice. Luckily, a friend was there and explained to us that it's so that we can get all the remaining pieces of crispy rice at the bottom. Personally, I didn't like it. Next time, I would just ask them not to put the water in it and we can get the rice ourselves -- although I'm afraid they might yell at me like a typical Asian mother would, so maybe not.

Good spot for a very flavorful tofu stew. (especially for a cold night) The service was fast and provided many options on the menu for different versions of soft tofu soup along with a full menu of other popular dishes from seafood pancake to Bulgogi. The Banchan (sides) were plentiful and they were able to refill them fairly quickly. I got the assorted tofu soup and the base reminded me of a spicy ramen dish; (The medium level was just right). My friend got the spicy but it wasn't too bad either Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza, staff will also greet you in Korean and very attentive overall. Would come back again!

Their seafood pancake (about $15) on the appetizer portion of the menu is a meal in and of itself. More than enough to share among two people and still have leftovers. It's really really good. Almost like a deep dish pizza. The flaky crust is packed with seafood goodness (I believe it was mostly comprised of squid, but that wasn't a bad thing. The texture wasn't rubbery or chewy at all). The tofu soup had an amazing broth elevated by shrimp, a tiny clam or two, and touch of spice. The bibimbap in the stone pot was good as well, but we wished would've gone with a higher spice level. At mild, it's a bit bland without adding sauce from the table. There are numerous toppings that can bring an extra touch of flavor, however. Like the seafood pancake, there were multiple servings remaining for leftovers and enough for two people to have their own share again. Service was outstanding. There were frequent check ins, a very gracious and kind staff, and we never felt rushed or overlooked. The one downside is the pricing is a bit steep. But given the portions, you're really getting multiple meals for each item you order.
