Overall, Shadows on the Hudson continues to be one of my all-time favorite places. It delivers breathtaking moments, exceptional service, and a level of hospitality that makes every visit feel special. Absolutely spectacular.

The drive up there from Hamtptons area Long Island was BEAUTIFUL for the fall foliage. We drove almost 3 hours to get here and the food, the views, the service and welcoming feeling easily makes it worth returning time and time again. Just plain beautiful. We had reservations but around 2pm it was busy but not crowded. We sat outside and the views were spectacular.

The views and atmosphere are terrific! But the food is very average. There’s a lot of seafood in the pasta so that was nice but the noodles just fell apart under our forks. The sauce was also not that great for both dishes. A good move would be to come here for the views and grab a light dinner, so you can eat elsewhere too. We still had a good time and would recommend for the vibes.

First time dining here for me. The location and view are truly amazing. One dollar happy hour oysters were my favorite as well as the varied selection at the bar before we had dinner. Scallops were disappointing sadly as they were overcooked and a bit chewy but tasted good. The French rosé wine was also a highlight for me.

The restaurant sits just 50 feet from the Hudson River's eastern shore, perched 40 feet above the water's edge. From this elevated vantage point, diners enjoy stunning panoramic views of the river and the iconic Mid-Hudson Bridge stretching across the water. The decor still pops, the views are still magnificent, and the table settings still suggest fine dining ahead. Stepping into Shadows on the Hudson at 176 Rinaldi Blvd in Poughkeepsie is more than just going out for a meal; it's an experience. From the moment you arrive, the floor-to-ceiling windows frame the magnificent setting. The ambiance inside is a perfect blend of sophisticated elegance and comfortable warmth. Tasteful decor creates a chic yet welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that feels equally perfect for a romantic anniversary dinner or a celebratory gathering with friends and family. I can definitely see it as a special place with an upscale atmosphere for those Friday night drinks after a week of work. Like the ruby-throated hummingbird, we migrated from Florida north for summer to the beautiful area that we called home for most of our lives. To a special meeting of family at the Shadows. A once-a-year family tradition for years to enjoy the company of loved ones while either taking in the breathtaking golden hour moments when the setting sun sets the Hudson ablaze, turning every ripple into dancing light. Or at other times monitoring boaters below threading their way into those narrow slips at the adjacent Shadows Marina - oddly mesmerizing. For those arriving by boat, the restaurant offers dockside dining service, delivering their full menu directly to boat slips. Unfortunately, it's clear from our experience and other recent reviews that the food and service don't consistently live up to the spectacular setting. Chef John Malone, formerly of the majestic Mohonk Mountain House, has helmed the kitchen here since late 2023. By all accounts, he brings impressive experience to the table. Unfortunately, that expertise must have taken the night off. The tone was set by the bread basket: stale. Not in the charming 'rustic, crusty' sense - just straight-up neglected. When our server came by to apologize for the delay with our appetizers, we asked for a fresh basket. She forgot, so we had to remind her again when she delivered our appetizers. Fresh hot bread eventually appeared. When the food finally arrived, my wife ordered the Garlic Shrimp on Garlic Baguette appetizer with confit tomatoes, garlic, and lemon in white wine sauce for $24. She ate only the four shrimp, leaving the baguette untouched. Later she admitted it was 'because she needed something to do while the rest of us ate.' The baguette—normally known for its crispy exterior—had become a waterlogged 'bog-uette,' completely saturated with sauce. I played it safe with their Soup of the Day for $12 - what appeared to be a take on Portuguese Caldo Verde. While the flavor base was sound, the execution fell short. The soup lacked the silky, cohesive texture that defines a proper Caldo Verde, instead presenting as a somewhat disjointed collection of sausage chunks, carrots, and wilted greens in a thin broth. At nearly NYC pricing, I expected more finesse. This felt like an $8-10 soup at best. After the 35-minute wait for appetizers that failed to satisfy, much less impress, and glasses sitting empty after the initial pour, no one was inclined to order another course. We'd had enough and asked for the check. Though we did not stay, I still want to give you a sense of their pricing: pasta dishes range from $26 to $38, while 'Land' entrées run $32 to $58 per person (or $135 for a 40-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye for two). 'Sea' selections fall between $35 and $66.

Beautiful view of the Hudson River, we were able to sit outside, the service was good I can tell that our waitress was new, she was learning, and was trying her best to attend us, the food was delicious,the manager came to our table to asked us if everything was ok? Off course everything was Great!!

This is our fourth visit to Shadows since 2019. We always enjoy our meals in the restaurant and our stay at the marina. The staff is friendly, and a member of management has greeted us on each visit, ensuring that our meal and experience were exceptional. Thanks to Joe for stopping by and chatting with us on this visit. We would also like to recognize Captain Keith, the marina manager. He is always accommodating, makes sure that we are safely tied up, and works hard to make our stay comfortable. This is also our fourth multi-day stay at Shadows Marina, and it is our preferred stop on the Hudson River.

My Husband and I came for a wedding and the “rehearsal dinner” was here. The atmosphere along with the view, vibes, food and staff made for an experience I’ll always remember. I had caviar for the first time and loved it, I always wondered why it was so expensive…I now know and have been chasing that flavor ever since.

On the top of fine restaurants in Poughkeepsie has been the Shadows on the Hudson. Their food, service and ambiance is above average. Their prices are also on the high end. I think their management is recognizing this and is re-packaging and offering promotions to attract a following. As an example of their re-packaging can be found this month with their offering of an a la carte Thanksgiving meal versus a $70 to $80 multi course package at some of the other local eateries.

First off if they had a six star rating I would do a six star rating on this place. We arrived by Boat. The docs were easy the dock hand was excellent. He even went as far to offer to pick up Dunkin' Donuts for us on his way in. You look up the hill and see the restaurant shadows overlooking the Hudson River. It's an awesome view. My girlfriend a.k.a. the wife always been known as my better half or so I've been told by my daughters, hiked up the stairs. And it was worth it what is you. Shadows reminds me of being at some high-end country club that I've had the opportunity dinner at. Peggy felt but she wasn't the only one. The manager stop by. Wanted to make sure we're going to have a good meal. Our captain ordered soup and chicken. Ordered the chicken salad. And I ordered the scallops with wine sauce. But, before the food came we ordered the Bluepoint oysters and drinks. Home run. The oysters were fresh and very tasty. Hard to believe I didn't used to like these things but they are awesome. The restaurant is very well staffed has a nice bar area everybody was very pleasant to be around. It'd be nice if we lived in the area but we don't. When we come back through in the fall this will be a must stop. I bet it'll

Always a good time dining for sunday brunch at Shadows! Everyone is friendly & attentive from the time you walk through their doors. Alot of upcoming menus/events coming up for the holidays. Today was a beautiful view of the dusting of snow on the mountains.

Had a delightful lunch with scenic view. Crab cakes, clams, and cauliflower to start then French cut chicken and shrimp scampi. Relaxing atmosphere.

The location, view and service are great!!! My complaint is about the draught beer. I've been here quite a few times, and we always enjoy ourselves - but the tap beer consistently tastes funky. You need to clean the tap system regularly!!!! We're hoping a manager reads this....until then, I'm sticking with the bottled beer!

Omg the food is so good! Yea it's pricey...but the ambience inside is so nice. Nice service too. Drinks could be stronger lol. The Sunday brunch is amazing and worth the price and the happy hour!!!' I always get like 20 oysters bc they're only $1 lol

I have been to Shadows many times and it never disappoints. The food, service, and views are a 10/10. I just returned from another great meal... we had salmon, kung pao beef, sweet potato fries, and cocktails, everything was delicious. Our server, Nicole, was so sweet and very efficient. I would not hesitate to return and recommend Shadows to anyone who is looking for an impressive venue.

My wife and I were traveling for our anniversary and were not quite sure where to have dinner. We were very happy to have chosen Shadows on the Hudson. This restaurant offers a very intimate dinner setting. Dim lighting and a view of the Hudson set the mood. The food and drinks were great! I had a well made espresso martini and a fish special (sorry I don't remember which one!). We also treated ourselves to oysters and a charcuterie board. Our waitress did a great job too. If I lived nearby, I would definitely return periodically. Also I was grateful that I could get a "happy anniversary" message drizzled with chocolate sauce when dessert came out. Nothing crazy, ice cream and chocolate cake, but it sent us home happy.

food was undercooked and was not worth the steep price. would not recommend. Service was good, and the ambiance was amazing, however the quality of the food just did not match.

Came here for a pre-theater dinner. It was a bit stressful, as none of the restaurant staff seems to communicate. We told the following people that we were on a tight time schedule: the person on the phone taking the reservation, the hostess when we arrived, the person serving water, and the server. Each party did not seem to pass the message on to the next party in the succession of service. If this place is attempting to be a fine dining establishment, they should implement the communication practices of a fine dining restaurant. When we arrived, it took a while for our table to be set, despite having a reservation and despite having a reservation before 6pm. The person serving water didn't communicate our urgency with the server and it took her a while to come over. I finally flagged her down and she took our full order. She didn't seem to communicate with the kitchen, because we checked in on our dinners after a long time and reminded her that we had to leave in 15 minutes. She came back saying that half the dinners are ready but half will be out in 5 minutes... A concerning response, because it meant half the dishes would be dying under the warmer before the rest were ready to expedite. All these minutes add up quickly. We had 10 minutes to finish our meals before we had to leave. When the food arrived at the table, it was clear which dishes had been sitting under the warmer. Half of us really liked our food, the other half thought it was okay. The scallops were great, the ragu was salty, and the French dip sandwich was okay. We also didn't like the bottle of wine we ordered. Some great things about this place: the location, the décor, great setting for a fancy dinner, plenty of tables with a view, plenty of parking, and we were able to catch the sunset. The servers were also nice, despite the lack of communication.

My husband and I had a fantastic dining experience tonight at Shadows. My entree was the swordfish special. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Melt in your mouth tender. My husband had the filet mignon also perfectly cooked. The waitstaff was top notch and very professional. From the young man who seated us by the window with a great view to the other nice young man who brought the bread basket to the sweet and attentive soft spoken waitress. This was like a high end dining experience. I didn't remember Shadows being this fancy. We want to return and try their Happy Hour menu.

Met an old friend for brunch at Shadows on the Hudson. Wow-- so many choices! Pasta bar, crepe bar (only 2 choices-- one savory and one sweet), omelets to order, salad, fruit, a carving station, shrimp, an array of desserts, and much more! Definitely try the soup! The butternut squash soup was the best item we sampled. The pasta was fresh made and included choices of sauces and mix-ins. The fruit was varied and fresh. The steamed veggies were done just perfectly. The only disappointment were the desserts. My friend and I took 3 to share. One (dark chocolate cake) was good/not great. The other two were gummy and gelatinous-- not worth the calories. Suggestions? Home-baked cookies. Eclairs. Small tarts. Baklava. Macaroons. Lovely view out the windows. Friendly servers kept our tea and water replenished. PS: LOVED seeing the array of Harney's Teas-- the best!!!

This was a beautiful restaurant that I really enjoyed visiting. The scenery is beautiful and I loved seeing the bridge against the sky as I ate. It is very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is expansive with a decent selection of appetizers and entrees. Our waiter was very kind and helpful to our group, and did a great job suggesting dishes to try. We ended up trying the Buffalo and Fried Calamari and Hummus for apps and the Duck Breast and Thai Lamb Curry for entrees, both of which were the specials of the day. We enjoyed a side of Mexican Street Corn. We finished with Jane's Lavender ice cream and Triple Berry Cheesecake and Jane's Cappuccino ice cream for dessert. The Fried Calamari was delicious and well battered but the Buffalo Calamari was absolutely amazing! It was well flavored and tender and just perfect. I highly recommend it! The Hummus had roasted red peppers and was very filling and tasty. The Duck Breast was well done and soft and tender. The sauce flavoring was mild and delicious, and I loved how well it paired with the smokey taste of the breast. A really great dish! The Thai Lamb Curry was interesting as I've had Thai curry before but never with lamb. It was decent and I enjoyed the gravy. I wasn't too fond of the lamb but it wasn't a bad dish. If you're feeling adventurous, I recommend giving it a try. Otherwise, you can try a safer option like the chicken breast or rack of lamb, which others in my party tried and enjoyed. The Mexican Street Corn was very tasty and was a nice side. It tasted exactly like corn with some extra flavoring thrown in. It was delicious! The desserts were delicious and perfect! I loved loved LOVED the lavender ice cream. It was very light and floral and paired perfectly with the Triple Berry Cheesecake. The cheesecake wasn't very sweet and I loved the berries. A very mild and satisfying dessert! The cappuccino ice cream was delicious as well and tasted like a cup of coffee! It's perfect for any coffee lover. We enjoyed a Pineapple-infused Cosmo and Jamaican Sunset for drinks. Both were good but the Jamaican Sunset was wonderful and is a very popular drink at the restaurant. Overall, this was a great spot and I recommend stopping by if you're in the area. It has great spots for views and pictures and has very yummy food. I also recommend making a reservation before you visit.

A beautiful view and delicious food! Is the best shrimp cocktail because you can mix in the horseradish and hot sauce to your liking. Went for our anniversary and every staff member acknowledged it, made our evening so special. Highly recommend!!

Terrible food, they have regular menus on Thanksgiving, it was wry disappointing, The food is -10 , Steak was not done properly, and the salad was not fresh, overpriced and overcrowded. I never expected such a downgrade low quality food here They ruin our holiday special dinner, Never again

My mother and I came here for lunch following a dr's appointment at Vassar. We made the right choice! The food was abundant and delicious, the view of the river (and Vassar Brothers on the other side) was lovely and to top it off, the service was phenomenal! They know how to treat you so you feel welcomed, comfortable and kinda special all at once. I'll be back for fall foliage.

I really wanted to like this place but the reviews were pretty accurate and it was disappointing. Definitely overpriced for the quality of the food. Four people and we spent $300 with drinks, two appetizers and four mains. Mussels were very tasty. Bread was great. Drinks were not bad though heavy on the ice. Scallops meal was pretty good. Burrata was acidic with two tiny pieces of prosciutto. Lobster pasta was not flavorful at all. $40! Chicken Parmesan pasta was also tasteless. Hangar steak was overcooked. Taste was hit or miss overall. One really good thing, but rest was just so so. Service was good even if a bit on the slow side. Lovely views. But I probably won't be back for this price.

This is a lovely restaurant right on the Hudson River. The views are lovely from either the outdoor seating area or indoors with floor to ceiling windows offering a great view of the river and the Mid Hudson Bridge as well as the lovely wooded areas on the Highland side of the bridge. The menu is varied and extensive and the food is always very good. Lots of seafood choices. The prices are a little bit on the high side for the area but worth it.

Came here to have our 'upscale' dinner on our mini-honeymoon. The service was great and attentive. Very nice inside space and cool views. Was quiet when we went (Tuesday night). Ordered the short rib gnocchi, crab cakes and fra diavolo. Short rib gnocchi was very good with a lot more meat than I expected. The fra diavolo was not as flavorful as expected. Especially for what it costs. The restaurant offers a lot of choices on the menu.

Recently went here for a friends birthday, our waiter was very kind and offered any drinks when we got here, he made sure to always check on us and collected our dirty plates, the place is spotless and clean and well kept. The food is the bomb and very delicious and fresh, the best food I've here had in my life I recommend this place !

This is our first time doing a road trip in New York. We found this restaurant by accident. To our surprise, the food is excellent, and the service is wonderful. But most of all, the view of the bridge is incredible and romantic. We ordered the Fra Diavolo (seafood fettuccine) and the Panzanella salad. The fettuccine was full of seafood with flavorful slightly spicy marinara sauce. The salad is fresh with tasty salad dressing. The freshly baked bread is soft with creamy butter spread. We had a great dinner. We wish we have such a great restaurant in California too.

Well let's start with, WOW! We packed the family up in the old truckerster and headed an hour and twenty minutes north. Yup we'll travel for food and new restaurants to try and this was well worth the drive! The ambiance gets five stars, service five stars, food presentation four and a half stars, taste four and half stars, price gets $$$1/2. The minute you walk in you're taken back with smiles from the hostesses making you feel right at home. As you walk into thw main dining room you have ravishing views up and down the river. We sat outside to enjoy these views on a very subtle summer evening, we were greeted by a multitude of staff for our table. The extensive wine list is nothing to shake a stick at have no fear they have an on staff sommelier should you have a questions. My wife and I know wines and we were pleasantly surprised to learn a little more this evening about different regions and wines we haven't tried before. The meal from start to finish was on point hands down one if the top five meals I have had out with the family this year! TOP FIVE! I'm going to say you have to stop in. We have all ready said we're going back to see the fall foliage and enjoy another fine meal. Don't let the 3.5 stars as an overall review of this restaurant deter you it's a bs overall review. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was amazing! I got the kale salad and Calamari! They also have a lot of drink choices! Went here with my co-workers and we enjoyed it. The place and ambiance was great! And service was exceptional! Servers pays attention as well. Will definitely be back!

We took a weekend trip from FL to NY/CT/MA, and this was by far our best meal of the weekend! We did get a beautiful view of the Hudson along with some tender and flavorful scallops, and a perfectly prepared Filet Mignon. With wonderful service, great food and an amazing view, you have to go to Shadows on the Hudson.

It was a rainy evening by the Hudson still the Mid-Hudson Bridge looked majestic from our window seat at Shadows on the Hudson. There is something pleasant about being lead through a dining room, through glass doors, to be seated at a table on the window. Once we were seated we were greeted by our server, back bar, and a trainee. All of whom were very polite and accommodating. We had a little snafu with our drink order, which they quickly resolved. The appetizers and dinners we ordered were delicious. I surprised my husband and friends by ordering the whole sea bass. You can see in my picture, it's a Whole fish. Yes, this restaurant is in the expensive side but, for a really nice date night or special occasion dinner, the ambiance of Shadows can not be overstated. To view the Mid-Hudson bridge in any weather and the boats on the Hudson is worth the price of dinner. One note about the parking...the lot serves both Shadows and the banquet facility next door. The parking lot, which looks large fills up quickly and the later your reservation the harder it will be to find a parking space.

Came here with my bff for cocktails and appetizers on a Thursday around 6pm. What a wonderful time we had!!!! Let me tell you the Blu Pointe raw oysters for $1 during happy hour are AMAZING! We ordered 15 each and they were delicious and sweet and fresh. They have a diced apple in sweet vinegar sauce garnish to put on top and it's sooooo good. It came with hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and horseradish as well. Really amazing...if you like oysters just get them, you will not be disappointed. We ordered the fried oyster tacos....also delicious. Just get them and only $6 for 3. And we also tried the buffalo chicken wontons which were also great. I got the specialty drink that night that had Jameson whiskey in it and a green tea taste. It was so good that I ordered a second. They really should make it all the time. My friend ordered wine and the sommelier was very nice and fun and helped her pick out a wine she absolutely loved. It was a New Zealand wine called Cloudy Bay. She didn't realize it was $22 a glass but it was good. The waiters we had (Sam and Andrew) were absolutely amazing, helpful, and fun. They get 5 stars from us. They totally made our experience excellent! I'm going back as soon as possible!

Ask for Devon!!! Shadows is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor seating by the water! Seeing the water and the mountains, makes it already a great ambience, but the service is like no other restaurant around. I truly haven't had such a great experience. Where are the servers actually care about your experience in over 5 years. I left, feeling as though I had made friends with my server! He was so nice and patient and gave the best recommendations, even though it was a busy night and was extremely professional. Wish I could've tipped him even more! Please ask for him if you're a generous tipper, he deserves it! The food was great. I had the most lovely evening with my fiancé - management was walking around the entire time and even stopped by a few times to check on us. The star of the show was the rack of lambs. So flavorful, seasoned to perfection, and served with equally delicious couscous. The truffle pasta was also great, and the pistachio cake for dessert. Next time I definitely want to try the s'mores sundae, though! PLUS they have James ice cream (best ice cream in the valley if you ask me). Will be back again for our next event!

4 Stars for Location, View and the atmosphere. This place is gorgeous! Service was decent, the manger Emanuel was very attentive and made me feel welcome. Thank you. Food: the short ribs were delicious but crispy chicken salad not so much but my friend loves that salad so that's why I ordered it, I guess she and I have different tastes so there you go. Dessert looked amazing! Sadly it fell short in taste. Coffee service- coffee was good and waiter bought real cream and sugar without being asked that was appreciated however he never came back to ask if I wanted a refill and in fact the first and only cup got cold. So that was disappointing. I will be back because the atmosphere and the vibe is cool plus I need to check out their happy hour which sounds amazing!

Service and cocktails were fantastic. The food is sub-par for the price. $40 for a lobster roll-maybe 1/4 of a lobster and the roll was stale. My daughter's Brussels sprouts were dry and inedible and what's with the mashed potatoes in the clam pot? That was weird.

Great service, food, and ambience! Ordered the oysters, prosciutto, and calamari as an appetizer and they definitely did not disappoint. Their version of a Manhattan is my favorite one - had to order more than one! I'd come back here for sure if I was in the area again. It is a little pricey but worth the food.

i will start by saying the setting overlooking the Hudson is awesome but... the ambience leaves alot to be desired. needs face lift room tremendous in buffet area. but way too small for the amount of guests especially on special event days days ie: mother's day furniture tired in need of refurbishing buffet pricey and does not include beverage(non alcoholic)) it seemed that they had to replenish the food bins very frequently... ti accommodate the many guests The entrance lobby needs to be redone. chairs fabric tacky and soiled the best part was the view of the Hudson ..on a sunny day it is beautiful i love Belgian waffles. my favorite brunch. but the ones they served here were small The strawberries and blueberries however were tasty my husband found this in Weatchester magazine and decided to take the hour drive from Hartsdale I woukd like the chance to return so hopefully there will be a renovation

Definitely the place to go to impress, no matter what the season. Lovely outdoor deck to watch the sun set over the Hudson, and indoors is candle lit with techno music. Modern, clean, stylish and friendly and professional staff. Have been here numerous times and the food is fresh, inventive, delicious and presented beautifully. If you make reservations, be sure to say you do NOT want parking lot views. We've made that mistake twice now, forgetting to be specific, and it's hugely disappointing to me. I mean, I GO there for the view, I can see my car anytime in my own driveway AND I spend far too much time IN it to gaze at it all through my meal. Secondly, bring a spot light and some readers. Maybe a magnifying glass with lights on it like the one my mom with macular degeneration uses. No joke; people of all ages were seen struggling this Saturday night, after a martini and a glass of wine it got funnier and funnier...but surely that was not the vibe anyone was going for here. My husband says this is the best steak he's ever had in his life; and he's eaten a ton of steak in the best steakhouses in NYC. I loved the creative dishes I had, tho a little heavy in the sauces which drowned out the flavors a bit. We will be back, and I think you will enjoy it too!

Recently visited family and I convinced everyone to try out Shadows for their brunch buffet. My grandmother in particular loved this place! The food selection here meant everyone at our table could have something they wanted. The variety of savory treats here were very good. Across the whole buffet there were classic breakfast options but you could also get some unique lunch items too. Obviously we tried half/half of both. Overall I think we liked the sliced beef the most but the chicken and waffles were fantastic too. If you get waffles try the pecans in syrup spread! One of the reasons I was so interested in checking this place out was their dessert buffet and I was not disappointed. There were LOTS of dessert options here. It was honestly kind of hard what to pick because the main meals we had filled us up at this point. There were cakes, puddings, creme-brulee (my favorite), dessert cups, etc. The dessert glasses had nice presentation but honestly were hollow. All the other desserts were richer. In fact every desert had great presentation and I think it was overall better then their savory menu! I will say it wasn't a 5/5 star experience our first time here. The table we got had views of the Hudson but also a parking lot which wasn't as nice. Tables farther in the back seem to get better views. Another thing that, at least irked me, was the take home policy. I know buffets don't do this for good reason but my grandmother can't eat too much. During dessert she had one slice of cheese cake she really wanted to take back but nope. Still it was a very good experience and one we won't forget. I highly recommend this place's brunch if you can try it out with a group or to celebrate something. Just make sure to ask for a table close to the water!

I loved my experience at Shadows the last time I went I had the pleasure of dining during happy hour in the outside seating which provides a beautiful view. The food was great and the options changed almost all the time but we still had some staples like the calamari tacos, which were delicious. I loved the drinks as well, the drink special they had when I went was this sangria which was perfectly balanced and was recommended by our wonderful server who was attentive and made sure to even provide us with a dessert recommendation which we took excitedly and it was amazing! Overall a great experience and I will be returning sooner rather than later.

We sat outside with a view of the Hudson, the wait staff was attentive and professional and the meals were a treat to the senses! The pricing is what you would expect for dining of this caliber. We would be sure to dine here again on our next trip through the area.

My experience at Shadows was such a treat. The ambiance is a mix of upscale and luxury dining, but comfortable. I took a ride on the metro north and decided to walk the 13 minutes to the restaurant and I'm very glad that I did. The staff was friendly and inviting. The food was EXCELLENT. I tried the miso salmon and scallop risotto. The risotto was good but the salmon left the best taste in my mouth. The flavor was amazing. As usual the cocktails were a hit for me. The signature list was primo. I recommend the Pumpkin Side Car and The Fog. Both were seasonally delicious and tasted like Christmas morning in my opinion. The views are great and space is large. Great for hosting events like birthday parties or just date night. I wish I could make the trip back up for Christmas and New Years. If you're contemplating on dining at Shadows, just do it.

SORRY Shadows on the Hudson. 2 strikes and your out. Despite your beautiful view, outdoor seating, friendly servers, yummy drinks, and delicious clam pot( a 10) ; i will not be back for dinner. Your culinary quality is a fail and certainly over priced. Let's be specific here...On one occasion, a pink, medium ordered filet mignon came back very well, tough, and flavorless, as did the strip steak and lamb chops. On the last visit, the chefs did not follow through on specific requests. For the scallop dish, I requested sautéed spinach with no creamed corn polenta as it is too buttery. The dish was served with the polenta with extremely salty spinach ( non-edible). After articulating the errors, the manager did not approach us. Extremely disappointing because I wanted this place to be our #1.

Easter Sunday dinner was over priced, with terrible waitstaff service. The filet mignon was cold & raw when ordered medium, iced tea was served without ice, bar drink was watered down, we waited so long for waitstaff to come to our table even though there were plenty of waitstaff running around totally disorganized. There was no ambiance whatsoever. Our reservations were made several weeks ago but our table was a table of 5 nestled in between tables of many people. Never again. There is too much competition in the Hudson Valley to put up with this. The worst holiday experience ever.

We attended the Italian Wine Pairing event on a Friday evening from 6 pm - 8 pm. A 5 course dinner with 5 different wines at $100 per person (reservation required & make sure you get there on time). A unique experience unlike other wine pairing dinners we attended in NYC. This wine pairing dinner was held inside a private room along with other attendees plus 2 Sommelier hosts. Imagine an educational seminar/class with food & wine. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, foods, wines, and the sommelier hosts. A real fun & interesting dinner wine pairing experience.

We went for the Sunday brunch buffet. It is a decent value. Food is mostly good. Beverages are not included so that a little drawback. The service is great as food replenished quickly and waiters very friendly! Great views of the Hudson as well.

Wonderful spot on the Hudson. The food also seems rather under rated, the Halibut special was tasty and i enjoyed it a lot, but was a bit on the dry side. Pork chops and chicken salad were perfect. The cocktails were generous and well prepared. Did appreciate the friendly and attentive attitude of our waiter and server a lot. The decor is upscale and attractive, which goes well with the amazing views. We went outside on their veranda to like look at the river views. Summers with the outdoor bar will be lots of fun. Two problems I feel petty enough to mention: there is a sign for complementary valet parking, but no valet. We made a reservation to be by the window. They lost the open table reservation and of course, no window table. Overall a positive experience- I will be back.

Updated 5/15/2022, a week after Mother's Day less hectic time to go and celebrate mom once again it's always a treat to go to shadow on the Hudson our servers Arturo and Jason excellent service very pleasant and knowledgeable and efficient. Once again the food is marvelous. To my surprise I see they now have a pasta station which I've never seen nor noticed before the pasta is cooked al dente and as you can see you have three varieties of pasta sauces you can try. Once again this is a perfect place to go for brunch with your loved ones. The atmosphere is always marvelous and festive ,management you're doing a great job. Continue the great work also your staff is unbelievable. Run don't walk to shadow on the Hudson, you definitely won't regret it.

So disappointing- My husband order gnocchi and had to send it back...it tasted like fish. I ordered a filet mignon, it was tender but mushy and way over salted. Another member of our party ordered a ribeye, not sure what cut it was but definitely not a ribeye. Spend your money somewhere else.

Been here twice before, several years back for a couple wedding receptions. Stopped in today for a late lunch/early dinner. Shania was our server and she was fantastic. We had a couple appetizers - Fried Calamari and Garlic Shrimp Toast. For our entrees, we both had Maine Lobster Rolls. The food was absolutely incredible. Super tasty, great presentation, timing was also spot on. Combine the great service and fantastic food with a beautiful view of the Hudson River Valley... it doesn't get any better. Thank you everyone at Shadows on the Hudson for a great afternoon.

Food was excellent! Ambiance was lovely, we dined outside overlooking the Hudson River. Our waitstaff was also excellent. Would highly recommend!!

I visited this place when I got in the mood for seafood and I found this good spot nearby since I'm a CIA student. The scallops were good and the Mac n cheese tasted great and very gooey. The seating looked nice by the ocean and the service was great.
