Shady Coffee & Tea

1st time here, ordered avocado toast but surprised that it did not have an egg and tomatoes like in the previous post, but it was still good. Raspberry lemon cake was way to sweet for us. Ordered matcha with coconut and it was perfect for me. Ice latte was a bit sweet.

I was in the mood for another matcha of COURSE and decided to head back to Roseville to fill that want! This coffee shop was right up my alley in regard to the atmosphere and being able to be in a living room away from my living room. 😆 Full of plants, pictures, art and much more. I was a little confused on the parking situation upon arrival. This coffee shop seems to have had someone outside taking orders, once I recognized that, I backed out of that line and parked on the street. I got their Matcha latte with cane sugar as the sweetener of choice. Although I do appreciate a sweet Matcha I like to taste new coffee shop matchas as is, and I was not disappointed. I also got their Apple scone as well. Although very, very good as is, for the next time I will probably ask if they can warm it up. I ended up taking my five month old daughter with me and that can be frightening every now and again, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I usually am an outside sitter but due to it being a bit chilly I decided to stay inside absolutely lovely 🫶🏾 When it was time to go, I ended up taking the patio exit and if you do decide to come, and you have a stroller it’s not entirely stroller friendly so just keep that in mind I will definitely be back and bringing friends for the next time thank you so much for an incredible time!

Shady Coffee is an amazing local gem! Superb coffee and delicious pastries! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere inside is excellent. There is a side room that can be reserved and there are monthly trivia nights (if im not mistaken). We love getting coffee here, its always so so good!

What an amazing first experience with my mother. Very fun artsy little place to visit. The service was awesome! Great people working here. The scones were amazing! The best I have ever had.

My hot mocha was good - not very sweet. The lemon blueberry scone was delicious! Just the right amount of crisp crumble on the edges and soft in the middle. Very fresh. I loved the atmosphere - unique, quaint and friendly environment. The staff was very polite and I didn’t have to wait long at all. I will surely come back!

Really great place to stop by. Their coffee is fantastic as is the grilled cheese (recommend adding bacon to it!). The atmosphere is lovely - exactly what a coffee shop should be

Vernon Street adjacent. Cool café off of Douglas Blvd near Old Town Roseville. I love the neat little cubbies inside mimicking a old school train car and the large shaded patio area. Coffee is on point. There's a great menu if you are hungering for a bite to eat. If you are looking for a funky and unique place to grab some java Shady Coffee & Tea fits the bill.

First time here. Small cozy coffee place. Very dark inside and mainly small tables so not ideal for a bigger group than 3 per table. Tried their hot mocha and avocado toast. Nice work on presentation on the mocha. Avocado toast was very simple which is why the price was also lower than other places with a fancier version. Good local coffee place if you are nearby.

Overall? 5/5, if you enjoy warm hobbit vibes and well made coffee then this is the place. Tucked away on a corner lot it's a fun addition to your day. Nice patio seating with good service. Talk about ambiance of the Shire! (Hobbit vibes & Lord of the Rings). I enjoy their space whether I feel like sitting out in the shade in the spring or a cozy inside. This place is perfect for study/ reading session. I enjoy their hot drinks & all their food menu. The desserts are a must if you are feeling like sweet treats that are not too sweet! Customer service is amazing! They welcome my doggy here with a doggy treat. But please do be mindful. Parking is usually convenient right out front too.

Funnnnn little spot, good coffee, drive thru is available. I had an affogato and it was delicious. We also got an Americano. That's always going to be our go to drinks. The drive thru was pretty fast. The lady who took our order came to our window, she was very polite. They take cash or card and from what we could see inside it looked really cozy. We plan to come back for the nights they have live music. Can't wait to see how the vibes are then.

This place is simply delightful! Kind staff knowledgeable about the entire menu as they offer tea, lemonade, coffee, dessert, and food! There is something here for everyone! We tried their sunset and mango lemonades and there were refreshing. Their Thai coconut lime lemonade is delightful too. I can't wait to be back to try their food and baked goods. They also host events such as trivia night and open mic night!

I have gone to Shady's Coffee forever now and it is always such a great place to go to. You can go during any season since they have indoor seating, covered patio, and outdoor seating. You can also drive up to place an order like a drive thru so you do not need to get out. The service is always pleasant and chill. If I ever have any questions, they are willing to help! I have been here 100s of times but I get the exact same meal and it is the Good Morning Bagel on an everything bagel. It is my favorite and always so much flavor. Can't go wrong with any of their options of teas or coffee, each I have had were great and then come in cute to go cups. Stay great Shady!!!

Came at 9am on a Sunday and was surprised to see a drive through lane that had several cars already in queue. This was an indication of "this place must be good!" We opted to wait inline inside to be able to read the drink menu. Line moved quickly and the team behind the bar was very friendly. They have 3 sizes, 12oz, 16oz, 24oz. We ordered an iced chai almond latte, an iced lavender latte (4/5), and a caramel iced oatmeal latte (3/5), I think the oat milk doesn't make the drink as creamy. Also ordered a grilled cheese which was ok. Looking to come back to try other drinks and possibly some pastries.

I've only been here once, but I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. The staff is so stylish and super personable! I felt safe and comfortable :). The more you look around, the more personality you can see in this sweet little café. I have a new favorite place . I got an iced chai with two shots and oat milk, which I order everywhere I go, and you can actually taste the chai! Usually it's really obvious that coffee shops (big and small) use chai syrup, but you can taste the tea in this one! I also ordered the "Hippie sandwich" and really enjoyed the flavors of the pesto and cashew cheese (I've never had vegan cheese before!). I will definitely be coming back :)

The staff is very friendly and coffee is great. We enjoyed sitting in the patio area with our toddler. I'd like to come back to try their other drinks like their lemonades.

Looked up a coffee shop in Roseville and found this really cute place with very good coffee and a very nice ambiance. It was just relaxing in there. The service was very nice as well. I had the lavender latte and it was very good! I highly recommend this place!

Peanut butter and honey toast with a chai tea and espresso! Cute little date or study spot. Small location and limited parking. Enjoyed the atmosphere and quick service!

The place is cozy and the service is good. The black coffee is acidity, about the same as gas station coffee. They are all about cool and need better coffee beans. There's plenty of street parking. You can drive up to the door to have your order taken. The restroom could use replacement.

Love the Thai tea! Any place you can get some grub some beer and some coffee is a great place! The outside is relaxing and the inside has an old bookstore vibe.

If you're looking for a nice, relaxing vibe in a coffee shop, Shady Coffee and Tea is a great spot! They have a few seating options inside & out. They also keep the music at a level conducive to conversation & studying. The plants give it a nice touch as well. It's kind of like a "come over and hang in my back patio" homey feel. The staff is friendly, helpful, and thorough! My friend's Chai was "too Chai" for her and they quickly took care of it for her. I also had questions about the place such as, are they open to community events (art classes), what type of power sources they have, etc. All of my questions were answered and I was given the owner's email address. By the way, they have several power sources inside and only one outside. I'd recommend charging your devices and bringing a backup power source, just in case. Check it out!

This little place has great coffee. They do drive through or walk in orders. The employees here can be a bit snobby at times but the coffee is worth it. They definitely deserve their 4.6 star average rating for the food and drink.

They are always welcoming and sweet girls love the coffee and it's easy drive through never have to wait long for food order coffee is very mmmmmmm

They use Mast Coffee for their house drip!! I love Mast Coffee. They charge less than $3 for house drip. Thanks for keeping prices fair and still supporting Sacramento beans!

So happy with the sandwich, totally how I would make it at home. I also got the raspberry lemonade, super delicious. Atmosphere was cute, little bit small and cramp except for the outdoor space in the back. Service was quick and friendly 10/10 fair pricing.

I think I am not the right clientele for this establishment. It has the college student/artist vibe needing a relaxed, guilt-free lunch....at decent...ish prices. I will summarize, and then further explain, my somewhat low rating My friend enjoyed her avocado toast, but it looked pretty plain....it was avocado toast in the very literal, minimalist sense....I witnessed crushed and spread avocado....on toast. The sandwiches were your typical light lunch sandwiches, that tend to be trendy or low cost, i.e. turkey, avocado toast, a grilled cheese, etc. A big drink menu, with no sodas (not a critique, just informative). This is not my typical go to for lunch...I am a teacher, so I am actually conditioned for lunch to be one of my bigger meals to get me through the rest of the day. I was going to just enjoy my drink with my friend, and then grab a bite later in the day. For $4, you could get hot chocolate. For $5, you could get "Dessert hot chocolate," which has a lot more accoutrements to make it that much more indulgent.... Did they forget to add all of the indulgence? I felt like I was drinking lukewarm heavy cream with no sweetness at all.....not too mention the faintest sense of anything chocolate flavored. So, it left a bad taste in my mouth (figuratively, but in a sense, literally), $5 for a lukewarm cup of heavy cream is not a good deal.....nor a drink I wish to enjoy when the weather is starting to warm up. If you are in the mood to discuss why your Humanities teacher is completely making sense on why the world is now terrible while spending $20+ on a light sandwich and a funky coffee drink, this is your spot. I hate to say it, but a certain Seattle-based chain makes their hot chcolate better....

Top 2 one of my favorite coffees I've had since moving to the Roseville area. Although the summer special drinks should have price on them. I would have gotten my typical $6-$7 drink if I knew the summer special was going to be the normal drink plus whatever syrups are listed being charged extra for each one! Will still be back though.

Shady coffee is the best! The workers are friendly and attentive. There's a drive-thru to get your coffee if you're in a rush or just don't want to leave your car. However, there's plenty of seating inside or outside, and the ambiance is nice and relaxing. You can definitely get some work done here. The only downside is the bathroom is outside by the drive thru. The coffee is good and the food menu extensive. Will be back to try some of the sandwiches!

Stopped here for some coffee and got a bagel turkey sandwich. It was delicious and great coffee. It's a quaint little place. And the people there were so cordial. Great customer service . Great place to enjoy a cup of coffee

Is usually a great spot for coffee! Their drive-up process is broken. I waited at the drive up spot for 5 mins. The signs were followed, as there are two bright green signs that advise you to pull all of the way up - this is how we have always ordered, we pull up towards the second sign and a barista comes outside and takes our order. Not this time. I sat there for 5 mins until I decided to park. I thought to myself "They must be extremely busy" despite the lack of vehicles in the parking lot. After I parked and walked inside, I noticed no one in the main lobby and only two customers on their laptops in the coffee shop - so they weren't busy. In addition, as I walked up, I saw three baristas, making no drinks. The one on the bar at 2:30 PM on 11/19/23 was on his phone. I walked inside and asked him, "Hey, is your drive up still working? We were out there for 5 mins and no one came." He replied "Oh, you were up there?" He pointed at the second green sign, which clearly says "Pull all of the way up." I said "Yes, the sign says to pull up." He said "oh just park in front of the door and we will see you next time." There was no apology, there was a major lack of customer service. I won't be returning due to lack of customer service and because they charge 1.70 for oat milk... that is WAY too much.

They serve Mast coffee! Baristas know what they are doing! There's plenty of patio seating, outlets only inside. Will be back.

I love how spacious and peaceful this coffee shop is especially outside. This is my go to cafe and definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a quiet place to work/read.

Came here to chat with a friend. Great coffee and tried the avocado toast which was nummy. Great sitting inside and out. And the services was so nice and detailed with their coffee. I hate getting new coffee and regret my choice but didn't have that here

I was on the way home from skiing and wanted to find a place I had never visited, and it was a great time to get a cup of coffee for the almost 2-hour drive home. I ended up at Roseville and found this small coffee shop, and the interior had space for people to enjoy coffee and do work. The service was excellent, and the people were friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and a relaxing stop through this town.

Nice coffee shop! Coffee is good and specially nothing beat a nice morning with pastry and coffee in the area! The employees were super nice!

A nice place I tried when in the area. Super nice staff. Helped me with the iced tea options. Located on a corner of a busy road, I missed it twice even using GPS. The parking lot is very small. The building has been painted recently, but from the front, the doors to the kitchen are open (fine because it is hot today) but not a good first view of the business. The food options were few, but this is such a nice little spot. The little "cubby" area with four little tables and a lot of wood felt like I could have been in a hobbit hole (which is a nice warm cozy feeling). There were not any power outlets I could find in there but what a nice little place to work/read and focus. The seating outside in the back is well shaded, has nice tree view, and much bigger than one expects having walked through the interior. This is a good place to visit.

The servers were all very nice! It's such a cute little place, I'm definitely coming back here. My only complaint is that the coffee was a little sour tasting.

I love going here for the summer and spring because of the outdoor seating! There's so many. The food menu is large too. I enjoy the turkey bagel. Love how they have a drive through which is convenient. Customer service is always great. Sitting outside is nice because of the shady trees.

Coming from SF I had never seen such a small cappuccino. Like even in Italy there small but not mini. It was okay, I liked the place a lot and would have liked to drink my coffee there but I didn't have time. If I was a student I would come here everyday! The staff are nice and the vibe is chill and not fake. The coffee is good and the cappuccino was okay, I asked for a wet cap and he gave me a latte. But that's okay, it's not easy to get a good wet foam. I will go back. I keep trying places around Roseville and I like this place, even though from the outside it looks like a granny diner the vibe inside was simple, good coffee but cool and low key:)

Brooke is literally the kindest soul. She always brightens my day and remembered my order after just one or two visits. The drinks are great, but it's the extra caring service that keeps us coming back over and over and over! Lavender Lattes are my favorite!

Shady is great, & used to be my favorite coffee spot; Food is still great & drinks are always spot on.. Wasn't very welcoming my last visit; I wasn't acknowledged for a couple of minutes, and when i went to use the restroom a young woman yelled "OCCUPIED" before I even finished knocking. I didn't realize it was coming from the bathroom & it startled me a good bit... However the food made up for it

My family has been coming to Shady for many, many years. We love the ambiance, the little "cave" seating, and the Good Morning bagel and coffee is always top notch. After visiting recently though, I have to come here and say that I didn't feel comfortable placing an order after seeing the cleanliness of the staff. I know that people like their masks nowadays and I assume it is against the law to ask employees not to wear them, but you have all of these masked people with dirty hair and clothes, cutting bagels and spreading cream cheese. It's gross. I'm sad about this place.

First of all, as a new mom the drive up option is amazing. They come to your car and then you place your order with the super helpful and friendly staff. I got their chocolate cold brew with almond milk which was delicious and the turkey bagel with bacon added. Again amazing. Will definitely be back soon!

Always think this is an interesting name for a coffee shop but I get it, I think. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Menu is actually very large so many items this can qualify for a deli. We just got coffees I had a rose latte and sista had the classic vanilla latte. Was good wasn't so strong that my stomach turned but had enough pick me up for that afternoon push. Will be back to try those food items.

I love riding my bike here because it's so convenient to my house. The staff unfortunately is rude and so disappointing. What is apparently obvious is that there is a serious lack of leadership and direction. I say this because I have been burned multiple times and the I don't give a crap attitude won't get me coming back despite the convenience. What seriously irritates me is if they make do make a mistake they take no ownership and further pisses people off. Let me start off with my recent experiences...last Saturday ordered a turkey bagel. Instead of just taking my order the gal taking orders which is the same one as today says "it's gonna take 30+ mins" almost taking me and a friend out of food. What was funny it came out in less than 10 mins. So not sure if the lackadaisical employees didn't feel like making anymore food? So here's where the problems start. My bagel has no turkey! So now I have to wait back in line which takes 6-8 mins with my food. Then the same lackadaisical employee doesn't apologize just says whoops sorry I forgot to add turkey. Then tick tock tick tock another 10 mins to get my screwed up order. By this time my friend is done with her food! What a joke and never any apology at all... Let's now go to today....ordered a couple teas and some breakfast. After our same front counter employee takes our order we sit down and wait. After just a few minutes our teas are ready and here's the surprise they weren't made correctly. Ok no big deal I walk up to the pick up window and ask for some Splenda please...only to be met by a sharply rude response of " Sorry wait back in line?" I said I just want some sweetener that you forgot to put in my tea...simply replies "I can't" your right you "cant" follow directions. I then asked you want me to wait back in the 6-7 deep line for what you messed up on? "Yes" So now seriously pissed off...now while my wife and I's teas are melting waited another 8-10 mins to go up to my favorite front counter lady to first be blown off. Now getting her attention I get my sweetener and head back to a half melted tea. What really put this over the edge was the barista(male) that wasn't making drinks the whole time look at me in line a few times and still not get me my sweeter. Seriously how do you not own up to your mistake and take care of the customer! So if you own this establishment feel free to reach for some feedback. Despite Covid customers don't deserve this...and there is no excuse.

Delicious coffee drinks and food! Breakfast bagel was superb. Big back patio with a stage for entertainment. Staff was very helpful and friendly

Love the vibe of this place. It's out of the way, and very atypical for Roseville. If you love a Bohemian and local coffee joint, check out this place. I, for one, will be visiting it again the next time I'm in Roseville.

Nothing like needing some good joe and breakfast after a long weekend. Today was the day after many drive bys and I'll go there one day. Long lines, walkup and drive through at certain times of the day. Recommend the seasonal flavor latte. The lavender latte waa bomb. We were a tad a sad that there was no omlettes. Panic breakfast choice. Would definitely go back.

I love this place. Great people, great service that really help you figure out the menu. The avocado toast is other worldly good. Loaded up with bacon, cucumber, & tomato . The latte was better than a charbucks. The strawberry refresher was perfect. Thank you Shadys.

Nice place and nice people. Street parking. I ordered an oat chai. My boys liked the pastries. They ordered the confetti cake loaf and Nutella pie. My son said the Nutella was 10 out of 10. My 8 yo son said he wants to bring his rollerblades next time and skate outside lol.

Absolutely love the location and the drinks. Shady is my go-to place for people who are coming through town and would love to get some coffee that isn't one of the big markets out there. I wish that they were able to expand to more locations in the Roseville/Rocklin area, I think that they would do great. They have a beautiful and shaded outdoor area which is great during the spring and summer, although the proximity to the road is close when you are inside, it is like you are in your own little Shady Coffee oasis. If you haven't gone yet, you are missing out.

First time, but overall a really pleasant experience. We ordered our drinks inside and drank them out on the patio with some friends. The drinks were a little pricy but we did get oat milk and an extra shot, so it was understandable. The drinks were delicious and out within minutes, and the staff was friendly. The real winner though was the patio area. There were a bunch of tables and even though there were already several groups out there, we were able to find a table that fit our group and was somewhat secluded. Will definitely be back!
