NorCal Beer Company Mocks PG&E For Days-Long Power Outages | Eater SF

"I noticed Santa Rosa’s Shady Oak Barrel House offered a more profane commentary on the power company last month with a classic California pale ale called “Fuck PG&E.”" - Eve Batey

Anti-PG&E Beer Brewers Are Not Backing Down | Eater SF

"In Santa Rosa, I saw that Shady Oak Barrel House announced on Facebook (the post went up on November 6) a new beer called “Fuck PG&E,” described as a classic California pale ale featuring Cashmere and Simcoe hops and a touch of malt sweetness. The name, owner Steve Doty says, was intended as a gesture of solidarity for victims of fires allegedly started by PG&E equipment and as an expression of contempt for the corporation’s leadership, but it sparked heavy backlash—garnering 343 comments, drawing angry posts from PG&E employees and their families, triggering a spate of one-star Yelp reviews that led to reviews on the brewery’s page being suspended, and prompting callers to make what Doty describes as violent threats against taproom staff. Doty maintains the naming decision was his alone, has no plans to change it, and argues that calling out the company is justified given its alleged role in recent Northern California fires." - Eve Batey

3️⃣ F’s is one description of this brewery. Fake Barrels, False Impressions & Failed delivery. Not one of the six beers offered are barrel aged or ever seen a barrel. All barrels in the taproom are simply for show. Even the website address showcases ‘Barrel’. Was looking forward to some brewer artistry but was rewarded with nothing approaching the craft! 👎🏼

Chill vibes, plenty of space for a group gathering. Selection of board games and arcade games for entertainment. Beer offerings were good (particularly the Gose), but lighter on sheer number of choices on tap than other places. Trivia nights on Thursdays, much fun to be had…and a food truck on the back patio (assuming a rotating bunch as well).

I love this big Ole Gem near downtown Santa Rosa. The space is enormous, but the feeling is Cheers-y, the spritzers are fruity, and let’s just talk about the Pinball~ The selection is exquisite, and it is absolutely medicinal to PLAY! 👾

Great place to stop for a beer or few. In a large warehouse atmosphere ( with food trucks rotating). The staff are friendly, not suit wearing wannabes, the place is full of laughter and fun. Dogs are welcome and the hard working barkeep knows what you are drinking, but is happy to recommend alternatives. Seemingly in its early days this place deserves to thrive over some of the better known Santa Rosa bars, which have the ‘place to be seen’ aura. Nick from NZ (I’ll be back)!

Super cool place! Limited but good selection of beverages, fun arcade area kids of all ages and live music. I'll definitely be back!

Another hidden gem in Santa Rosa. I have been here twice and have loved the rotating beers. My wife loves the sours, as well. The patio with the food trucks is a nice thing when the weather is great. Steve, the owner, is super nice and lets folks try the various beers. We will return the next time we are back in Santa Rosa.

New to the area, love this place! The bartender was knowledgeable, nice, and very attentive. AND they had a black lager!! AND the Papusa food tent was AWESOME!!! We will definitely be back. Comfortable, lovely location, great back patio biergarten, and very much a welcoming neighborhood brewery. So glad we finally found it!!

Dog friendly throughout. Medium/Large outdoor area accessed through the main bar. Partially covered and heated. The barrel aged sours are the way to go. Hard to find that style in this area.
