Anti-PG&E Beer Brewers Are Not Backing Down - Eater SF

"Santa Rosa’s Shady Oak Barrel House announced its newest beer via Facebook last week: a “classic California pale ale, featuring Cashmere and Simcoe hops and a touch of malt sweetness,” as well as a striking name. The brew is called “Fuck PG&E,” a name intended to illustrate the frustration many Californians currently feel with the utility. Though the brewery’s owner says he intended it as a gesture of solidarity for victims of fires allegedly started by PG&E equipment, the beer’s name has also angered many, causing a spate of one-star Yelp reviews for the business." - Eve Batey

Big area with some arcade and pinball games. Had live music which was great as it’s hard to find live music in the town (in this state, really). However they only had 4 beers on tap, and no dark beers or brown/red ones.

Super cool place! Limited but good selection of beverages, fun arcade area kids of all ages and live music. I'll definitely be back!

Another hidden gem in Santa Rosa. I have been here twice and have loved the rotating beers. My wife loves the sours, as well. The patio with the food trucks is a nice thing when the weather is great. Steve, the owner, is super nice and lets folks try the various beers. We will return the next time we are back in Santa Rosa.

Came here on Friday night, day after Thanksgiving after the downtown tree lighting. Thought it would be fun for kids to play pinball while we hang out. The live music was literally EAR SPLITTING! So loud that they had earplugs at the bar and everyone is walking around holding their ears with a grimace on their face. No one is enjoying it, yet the problem isn’t being addressed by staff. I can’t really comment on much else, except the space heater near our outside table didn’t have a propane tank. Don’t think we’ll be going back.

The Shady Oak Barrel House features locally brewed beer in a very relaxed setting that you want to bring friends to experience the variety of great brews. They have a Taproom and Beer Garden. Retro cool pinball machines are on sight. If interested, you can book private parties here. Outside, there is a new mesmerizing Casey Weldon mural worth checking out before coming in.

Dog friendly throughout. Medium/Large outdoor area accessed through the main bar. Partially covered and heated. The barrel aged sours are the way to go. Hard to find that style in this area.

This is a great place to go and have a beer with friends. They have a nice open space that also feels welcoming. I’ve played trivia here as well and the game was fun although challenging. The beer they had on tap was great. Strongly recommend stopping in and they are located next to the mall so parking isn’t often an issue. Always drive responsibly.
