Shady's Burgers & Brewhaha

I had the New Pork on the Block burger, and it was amazing. My partner had the Ruben with chips. We also had fried pickles, which is my only complaint. The pickles are a little too salty and could have been fried a little longer. We are always looking for great burgers and beer, and I'm happy we stopped in.

We ordered the hood burger, tail gator and the kids burger meal. The food was delicious as always. Perfectly cooked medium. The venue was a little loud because they had a band playing outside and the gates were open.

The food and service has always been great. Tonight was no exception and our Waitress, Kendall Hardesty, went above and beyond. She provided amazing service and she went out of her way to track me down and contact me after we had left to let me to let me know that I had left my wallet behind. Thank you Kendall and thank you Shady's great people do still exist.

We were looking for a different cool place to eat and I'd been seeing this place every time we went to Andy's and suggested we try it out since we were taking our Daughter and Granddaughter to brunch. As soon as we walked in, everyone was very friendly and we were seated right away. Our Server Leo was very nice and attentive. We all tried different burgers and Patti melts, along with their fried pickles, oh so good and their delicious fries and large onion rings. I suggest you share. Our burgers were so delicious and big. The atmosphere was very laid back and cool. I most definitely will be going back.

We sat on the patio on a heated windy day in Texas(yup, hard to believe, I know!) With all of the fans, the Misters, & shade 😎 actually made it quite pleasurable. I definitely enjoyed the HOOD burger. I made mine without the buns, added meat to make it 3x the beef, & egg to top it off. I asked for medium rare. I WASN'T disappointed! Sweet Potato fries were cooked just right, and quanity was flowing! Chase was our waiter, us as a group enjoyed this down to earth person. Every question we asked about our order, he had the right answer! ✅️ You found a gem. He dedicated his time to us and didn't just rush to the next table. Very hard to find genuine people now days. If you get a chance. Ask for him, he'd be glad to serve you. I'm adding a few 📸 from our group.

Service at the highest level! The waiters are very polite, attentive but not pushy. All dishes were served in a timely manner, and the waiter was happy to recommend us some excellent wines that perfectly matched our orders. The prices, in my opinion, are quite adequate for this level of establishment. This place is definitely worth spending an evening here with friends or having a romantic dinner.

Laid back and comfortable atmosphere with a nice covered outdoor area that feels tucked away from the nearby busy intersection. Good and friendly service with a menu that is funky enough to be fresh but still solid traditional bar and grill fare. Nice beer selection. Easy choice for hanging out having a beer and some really good food.

It’s one of those places where I guarantee you’ll want to work your way through the menu. The Holy Guacamole and the Tailgater are out of this world- a flavor explosion in your mouth. Mike, the bartender made our drinks to perfection. Although, I would really like to see cherries in a full bar. This was a great casual date night in the shade. Thanks Shady’s.

It was a beautiful day so I dined on the patio. Casey was our waitress and she took great care of us! I ordered a half order of the margarita salad it was delicious, and the perfect size. I look forward to coming back to try more menu options.

I'm conflicted here. I've been a fan of this company since I ate at the original in Richardson. We are local and frequent guests here. On occasion we like to eat at the bar. It's communal and it's always something we like to do. Shady's, despite the name, markets itself as a family restaurant. Or did. Management has seemed to go a different tact. Multiple times a year, for multiple years we've sat at the bar as a family of 3 or sometimes 2. Including my son. He's 13 now. But he's joined us at the bar for years. Here and other establishments. All of a sudden he's not welcome to sit with us at the bar. After years of being able to without issue, we were told management has deemed it forbidden. At like 7pm on a Wednesday. WTF. What happened? My inquiry into reasons were vague at best. Something about kids overhearing language or whatever. Total BS. We had to move 4 feet away. To the "safe" zone. Again WTF?? Take note owners. Pissing off your loyal regulars in a close knit area like LH. Not good. PS I get it. It's your business. Run it like you want.

Great for kids - very loud for that matter. Food was fine. Not coming back because of the service though unfortunately. We waited an hour for our food (ordered at 5:30, got it at 6:36). It was odd that the owner made it a point to tell us we waited "17 min" unprovoked... We just would have appreciated him to acknowledge we waited for a while, said it was busy and apologized. Just a little off putting

If you haven't been here, why not? This place sells one of the top burgers in all of Dallas! Their smash burger, with the double patty and double slices of American cheese is amazing! The thick sliced onion rigs is a flavorful spiced batter may be the best in Dallas! The service is always on top of the game! If the weather is decent, go outside! If you have the kids, outside is perfect! If you are by yourself, hit the bar and enjoy the game! Lots of parking and it is slightly out of site, Price is well worth the taste, atmosphere, and great service! To go is just as great with super packaging. I've done it both ways just to see for this review. This is my go to from a GREAT tasing burger!

I am so sad I don't live closer to this place. My family & I LOVED it! The service was great! One of the staff even accidentally some of our food & they immediately had us new hot food & we're cleaning up. (They should probably change the tray/fry presentation because it seems unstable). With all that would still say service was great! It was hard to decide on food. It all looked good. I think all 3 of us had the server decide between 2-3 options we couldn't choose between. One area the food could improve is the shake. With Andy's next door they need to find a way to step up the ice cream game. It's quite a drive for us but we'll be back! Highly recommend!

After a walk along the lake, this is a great place to unwind. I like the outdoor seating and the burgers are gooooooooooooooooooooooooood!

Dog friendly patio and a fantastic veggie burger! Karen, our server was incredible gracious, attentive and lovely. My dog and I loved the shaded patio and I edited a BBQ burger to have a veggie patty and it was absolutely delish! I do think they should include a fry in your burger order, but otherwise I had a great experience here and felt the menu had something for everyone including vegetarians , and folks with dogs!

Shady's is our go-to, neighborhood burger joint. The food is always really good and the people are always really friendly. I love that they've created an environment where you can go and meet up with a few friends to grab some drinks and there's even a family-friendly space as well for kids to run and play. We usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are always friendly and attentive, we're always greeted with a smile and a warm hello whenever we come. After our drink orders were taken and brought to us, we were handed menus to review, but it was the sandwich of the month that happened to catch my eye. Ma's Leftovers is the November sandwich of the month and it sounded like pure comfort food between two buns!! It has a flavorful burger patty, creamy, buttery mashed potatoes and is topped with crispy fried onions and gravy. The sandwich itself was delicious, my only regret is not having asked for gravy on the side to dip the sandwich in with each bite because it didn't have much gravy on the sandwich itself since that would've been quite messy to pick up and eat. I also got an order of Frings, which are simply fries and onion rings. I got plenty of fries and three giant onion rings, I had to hurry and snap a picture before my husband and I ate them all because they were so good. I love Shady's french fries because they are fried hard so they're really crispy, there is nothing more disappointing than pale, soggy fries. We visited the one in Lake Highlands, I highly recommend you give them a try if you are in the neighborhood.

At least my food was mostly edible. I got the fish and chips and an order of fried pickles. The fried pickles had almost no batter on them and tasted bland. I've never had fried pickles so greasy and under battered before. The fish was warm and just cooked with extra batter that was holding on to a lot of grease. The fried were warm-ish but definitely not freshly made. Which was confusing because the had more than a few people dining and picking up orders. The space is nice with a large center bar, really nice place to eat but I was taking this home for lunch. Service was ok but the had me waiting to talk to someone twice and had two registers and no space to line up so you have maneuver around chairs and the other people ordering and waiting.

Burgers were super good and just how I liked it grilled onions and jalapeño! Beers were cold and the vibe was casual and relaxed.. good hang out spot. Service was ok but it's not a fine dining place eh. PRICES WERE AMAZING compared to others.

Awesome service!!! Anna is very sweet, nice and friendly. We came in late, right before closing, exhausted after moving a deceased family members garage and apartment and they were happy to serve us food and drink. Awesome food and service!!! If you go ask for Anna and tell her Erin sent you!

Came in Saturday at 5:45. Sat down and waited between 5-10 minutes before we decided to leave. No one acknowledged us. One person cleared a table behind us. Multiple servers stood by the drink station talking to each other. Another served drinks to the table next to us then walked away. Not a welcoming atmosphere.

The Cuban sandwich special, not worth it at all. All tough tooth hurting bread and little to no meat.

Two of four entrees were inedible. One burger was cooked perfectly but the other was a hockey puck. Reuben was cold when delivered and mushy; it clearly died in the window. Fish and chips was raw inside. Our server seemed a little clueless on how to handle the concerns.

My family and I went there to eat after we got into Dallas for thanksgiving. We didn't know that they had shorter hours for the holiday. I am sure it was listed on their Facebook or website. We got in there 15 minutes before they closed and were told that they couldn't seat us. That was a little disappointing because there were people ordering at that time and we would have just been a few minutes behind. I do understand that they wanted to get out of there but they weren't technically closed. They wouldn't even serve us drinks. My aunt had to ask if we could order to go and honestly that took about the same amount of time as if they had seated us. The food was good but I was a little perturbed that they wouldn't seat us. My husband works at a restaurant and they still have to seat up until closing.

Great food & service at very reasonable prices. Very family friendly casual dining place.

A friend suggested I check out Shady's and I'm glad they did. Aside from their menu items, they offer a lunch special consisting of a burger, fries and drink for about $11. They also have a monthly menu that changes each month. I ordered the Red Velvet Milkshake off the February menu and it was very good. I ordered the Holy Guacamole burger with no bacon, medium rare. The patty was delicious but it was more on the rarer side than what I would've liked, it was seasoned very well and the burger was very flavorful. The sweet potato fries were tender and crispy. This was a great experience and I look forward to returning.

I love coming to this place! The food is always delicious and comes out fast. The staff is a little iffy sometimes but for the most part they are always kind. There is one emo kid that acts as miserable as she looks, she's got a snarky attitude, and is absolutely rude to her tables. I don't even know how she even makes money there because if I got her again, I wouldn't tip. I'd rather not have a server than have to look at her every time she comes to check up on my table.

Bartender Anna is amazing! Incredible service and friendly personality. Definitely pay her a visit if you can!

Extremely mediocre Fish Sandwich.. way too much bun and slaw, not nearly enough fish. Half the bites were bun only. Also, crispy fish should be crispy, not soggy, with the crust falling completely off the fish. All-in-all, I made a bad order.

I've been twice, eaten once. First time was about a year ago, took like 20 minutes for a waitress to come by (you seat yourself here). Had gone in craving a reuben, but found out 40 minutes after getting there that they were out of ingredients for Reubens (as it took them forever to get a server to us, then forever to come back to take our orders). The food was good, but one of our three appetizers was missed, and even after a reminder one of the few times the server ever actually came around it never showed up until the bill. Surprising they could remember it then. Drinks were often empty as we basically didn't have a server. I usually always give a 20% tip but they got a 10% tip that time. There was very little service, but at least there was some. It took forever to pay because, unsurprisingly, my server took forever to get back to us. I ended up having to get up to have somebody else check me out. Abysmally slow service. A year later, I decided to visit again. Maybe the lack of service was a fluke? Bar is full, tables are nearly empty at the entrance. I walk in, sit down at a table near the entrance, nobody else near me, very hard to miss that there's a person there. I wait about 10 minutes and nobody has come by. Another man walks in, sits down for about 10 minutes at another table. Looks at his phone, presumably checking the time, looks at the door, then at the staff who still somehow haven't noticed multiple people waiting to be waited on. He walks out. I realized that the man was onto something and left too. There really shouldn't be "seat yourself" signage at the front of the restaurant if the employees aren't observant enough to notice people that don't have drinks after 10-20 minutes of waiting. The man and I were the only two people on that half of the restaurant and it's just surprising that nobody appeared to have functioning eyes. I would not go to Shady's if you value your time whatsoever or attentive servers are crucial to your dining experience.

I love Shady's in Richardson and can now confirm the same for their Lake Highlands location! We got some happy hour margaritas at the bar before an Alamo Drafthouse movie. They were delicious, perfectly strong and a great price. The bartender was so friendly and made us feel like we were regulars! Also, even though it's extremely hot outside in the summer, they have a shaded patio with plenty of fans and misters which is hard to come by. We aren't in the area often, but this definitely will be our spot when we are. I wish they'd open a location close to Turtle Creek!

Had a few drinks & some tator tots. Strawberry mule it was good. I have been there before I like the burgers. I also had the buffalo chicken wrap. I enjoyed that too. I'll be back definitely. They have a very nice patio too. Definitely a cute little location.

First time at this location and I prefer the Richardson location over this one. It's very loud inside and hard to converse in a normal voice. I felt like I was straining my voice just to have a normal conversation. The service was very slow, I understand that it's busy at 6:00 on a Saturday night, especially when the weather is gorgeous. Our waitress finally came to get our drink order - water was needed STAT! From straining our voices to talk it made me tickle cough and I couldn't wait to get some water! I ordered the Club Shady, which is a chicken breast with white cheddar, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato on a challah bun and a side order of French fries. When the order was delivered, she brought a hamburger! I sent it back because I really wanted the chicken breast sandwich. She left the fries and they were very good, even though I was still waiting for my meal. Finally the chicken sandwich arrived and it was delicious, most of the fries were gone already. I would have really enjoyed eating both of these together. Someone else at my table ordered the southwestern chicken tacos, that was supposed to be served with a side of ranch but we had to ask two different servers before it was finally provided. The food was delicious but the service tonight was way off and left lots of room for improvement.

Came here at around 5 for happy hour and parents with kids started coming in as if they were getting a free bottle per kid. Margaritas and food were good but now I'm confused as to why there were so many kids here during happy hour. It started sounding like a literal daycare with so many kids. The only reason for the 3 stars was because of the kid situation, otherwise it's a chill place

Still the same...I went last weekend, just to find dirty, sticky tables. No meet and great. My wife and Isat at the cleanest table we could find, but still sticky. We been here several times before, and it's still the same. But the food isn't much too back about, buts it's close to our house. We sat for an about 2-3 minutes, and no one even acknowledged us. They were not too busy, it was a late lunch (early dinner). The staff haven't seen us, neither did the bar tender. So we walked out. I really want to enjoy this place, but it's really hard too. You would think with the "Their Just okay" reviews. They would try harder. I truly believe, as long as people are willing to come in, and pay, then reviews and service really do not matter.

The food is good but too often do they not add the extra dressing that they charge for when you call in an order for pickup. Kind of a big deal for a salad so double check ur order before you leave.

Got app's with and drinks to relax for a little while. Enjoyed my waitress Casey helped out with drink choice. Loved the house tequila

VERY nice location, has a clean, garage-like ambience that's really comfortable. I got the "Hood" Burger, and it was delicious. Avocados were a little mushy but other than that it was perfect. Got a waiter named Chase and he lit my day up like nothing else could. Service was impeccable, and if I wasn't just stopping in town on the way to Louisiana I'd come here every week just to see him. Wonderful times!

Went for a big party and the waitress was so friendly and attentive! We sat outdoors and it was home in your backyard! A bit busy for a Sunday, also. I got the plant based burger and it was delicious! Did not miss the meat! And there fries were crispy and well seasoned! Just watch out for the flies!

Gave this place another try. I think this is like the 10th time now we have given them a chance. I ordered the Turkey burger and my husband got the shady burger. We ordered two sides of tots. That's it. Nothing crazy. My turkey burger came with just guac on it. ONLY guac. Nothing else. Guac isn't even an item listed on the turkey burger. We were only given one order of tots and we were charged $54. $54 for two burgers and one tot. My husband of course didn't check the food or the receipt till he got home. He had to go back and get our missing tots and the turkey burger fixed. When he went back in the girl at the front even said "oh goodness we keep messing up." Seriously? If you know it's a problem then please fix it!

Food is delicious! Came here with coworkers during lunch and ordered the lunch special. Food was DELICIOUS! I added pepper Jack cheese and aioli to my burger. I also ordered onion rings as the note on the menu says you can do so for nobly a dollar more. The waitress who was serving us, however, charged me $3. She also charged me for a soda when my check came. I had to ask her to remove. I also asked her more times than I can count for a to go box. She was clearly overwhelmed. Despite all of this confusion, bring exorbitantly overcharged and wasted time, I recommend because my food was just that good.

The waiter made my experience awesome! Chill spot with great burgers and live music. Prices are reasonable definitely will go back.

Had this place bookmarked and finally was able to check it out and I am so glad I did! You enter order your given a number and the food is brought out to ur table. I chose the el shady which was delicious it had burger patty with white cheese,chorizo, jalapeños and a fried egg I definitely recommend it! Prices are reasonable went with my man and kids total was less than $36

Everything is house made except the tots, and it shows. Burgers were so flavorful and juicy. Every ingredient is made with care down to the aioli and roasted jalapeños. My daughter is a creature of habit so she always orders the fries with cheese and meat and whatever else. The high fries were AMAZING with a crazy cheese pull. We also had the El Shady & the Clucker. Flawless!!! The drinks are super cheap even before the happy hour special, and the night manager was super professional and attentive. Can't wait to go back. This place is a hidden gem, but so reminiscent of those neighborhood burger joints from back in the day. Just a good burger and a great vibe. Except now I get to enjoy the drinks, too!

Very good hamburgers with the regular sides of sweet potato fries, tater tots, french fries good salads, very consistent and service and quality

Came here with my family and was waited on by Chase: I would let this man marry my daughter. Chase is such a servant we thought we were in the presence of the return of Christ. My wife and I will be voting for Chase in the upcoming elections. We will be naming my next child after him. And our family will be coming back to Shady's just to get a glimpse of his shekinah and eat all of the delicious food.

What a wonderful night at a burger joint! We came in at 9:10, slightly concerned that we would be the late comers as they close at 10. We asked to make sure the kitchen wasn't wrapping up. They made us feel more than welcome. We made our visit quick, but the impression Jake at the bar left was amazing! Jake is extremely hospitable and friendly. We just moved to the area and will be back on account of the phenomenal service and fantastic burgers!
