The kids wanted Indian food on our road trip so we made a list of restaurants with high reviews. This was a wise choice. Loved the trays with an option to pick 2-3 entrees. Excellent butter chicken and butter paneer. The Naan and mango lassi were also incredible. Very sweet staff from South India.

The food here was absolutely delicious. I got the thali which lets you choose either two or three different dishes to eat on one plate. They also come with rice and naan. I cleaned my plate. Very very good and I'll be going back to try some other things.

This is 100% our go to and favorite Indian restaurant. Always consistent with fantastic flavor and excellent service. They make you feel like part of the family! If you need a new Indian restaurant to try, this should definitely be on your list!

Amazing food, incredible service, and great prices! The food definitely gives a homemade feel in a good way. The service was so great and we were even given samples about dishes we had questions about. We ended up going with the butter chicken and goat curry with garlic naan. Can’t wait to come back and try other things.

Try Shagan's, a hidden gem with delicious homemade Indian entrees, breads, and drinks like mango lassi. I love rice dishes like chicken byrani, and the chicken palou is similar. Delicious rice with some spices but a pinch of spicy (the owner said she keeps the food less spicy). She suggested the butter chicken, tikka masala, and chicken curry are very delicious. If you want to try a combination of these to try the 2 or 3 choice plate options.

The food was amazing and piping hot. We had vegetable biryani which comes with raita, aloo paratha with pickle and yoghurt, paneer Kathi roll, rice with chole and gulab jamun. The owner Ms. Shagun came and personally checked on us. The prices were unbeatable.

Honestly surprised with just how much I loved everything. The food was different from what I've had elsewhere, but in the best way. Out of the butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala, and curry chicken... I'd recommend all of them. The garlic naan that was recommended was amazing too. I'll be coming back here often.

I was delighted to discover Shagan's with a friend some time ago. The food is excellent! The people and the service there are the best. Wonderful people. You have to try Shagan's if you love really good Indian food.

Drove by after a client in the Plaza and I was blown away. After living in LA and also traveling to India I've been looking for good Indian...this is Great! Reminds me of getting a home cooked meal in India. All of the sauces are Sublime. Great Chicken Tikka Masala and and Daal. I will be here every week!!

First the good... The samosas were hot and crispy and the chicken in my buttered chicken was very tender... Now the bad... The sauce for the butter chicken was very thin and was severely lacking flavor. I also got almost no green chutney (picture enclosed). The filling inside the samosas was very dry also. This restaurant used to be great. You could get 8 oz entree portions for under $6 and could mix and match a few different things and not break the bank. Not only has the price gone up but the quality and attention to detail has done the opposite. This will be the last time I order from this Jekyll and Hyde restaurant.

Ok wow, what a find. Some of the best authentic Indian food I've had in a long time. Shagan's is a home style Indian restaurant, no frills but the food is fantastic. I tried the 3 entree lunch special, which I had the butter chicken, paneer masala and veggie korma. With addition of garlic naan. Honestly, maybe the best butter chicken I've ever had- I wanted to lick the plate afterwards but guess that's what the naan is for. Definitely worth the stop in. Was able to meet the owner who was very sweet and can tell her food is cooked with love. Final review: 5/5 stars, go here asap!

This is the restaurant's second location (metcalf /143rd original) and it is just as fabulous. A modest interior that could use a lift, but be real: you're there for exceptional food. No one in town has better naan. Highly recommend the thali platters that come with naan and rice, but if with a group, try absolutely everything. From channa masala to veg korma to butter chicken, you cannot go wrong. And if they ever venture into the lunch buffet game? It's over for the competition. End the meal with their homemade chai which is delicious!

I came here on a cold day looking for a warm meal! I got the small butter chicken with rice and garlic naan. The staff were so kind and helpful and quick to get my food out. The location is clean and well kept and simple. I definitely will be back to try more of their menu and more butter chicken!

Loved their Samosa channa chat, and they make a good mango lassi as well. I ordered take out via DoorDash and asked for no plastic utensils or straw, and they listened. The staff was super friendly. I would love to see them move away from styrofoam containers.

Woof. Super small servings, an order of Garlic Naan gets you A SINGLE PIECE lol. Masala tastes like campbell's tomato soup. Naan was toooo chewy and stale. Really not great.

Excellent Indian food at a quaint little spot. Stopped in for a late lunch and was very pleased with the 2-Entree platter. Both the chicken curry and veg korma were fantastic. Great attentive service too. Highly recommend!

I love these folks & I love their fresh Indian food. I have not been unhappy in one thing I've tried. We always leave full & smiling.

Excellent food all around. Reminds me of the style I used to get in NYC, which I've found difficulty replicating here until now. Naan, samosa and veg curry were all great. Super friendly staff, too. Felt like a family place.

My dine-in lunch visit to this new location came with the same flavorful food and welcoming, efficient service I have come to expect from their highly rated original location in Overland Park. My two entrée non-veg thali platter ($11.49 before credit card fee and tax) was brought to my table just eight minutes after I ordered at the counter. The platter had reasonable (but more would have been better) portions of very flavorful entrées with rice and my choice of bread - warm and delicious garlic naan. Shagan was present and delightful as always. Her son was making sure everything was going well. Every other member of the staff I met was polite and professional. I found the dining area to be basic but clean, without interior decorations or background music. They could improve the dining experience by adding a menu board with prices (I'm not a fan of mystery pricing), improving the atmosphere in the dining area and getting rid of a dumpster that is taking up several prime parking spots out front. Also, the credit card service fees seem antiquated. Overall, great food and great staff with room for improvement in other areas.

I could eat chicken tikka masala for every meal and this place is exceptional. I like to get it with some garlic naan and a Samosa.

Tried this place for the first time and will definitely be back! The hospitality was great. We were greeted at the counter and then they explained what was on the menu (a selection of 7-8 dishes a day). There are two or three curry combo plates that also include rice and naan. Or you can order separately (each item is about $6-$7 for the smallest portion). We decided to order 6 individual portions... three veggie & three chicken curries, rice, naan, and roti (a chewy tortilla). The food came out very quickly which was a plus because I was starving! All the dishes had a distinct flavor profile and we even had enough leftovers to bring home for lunch the next day! Everything was rich and very flavorful. The service was also great and attentive. I'll be back for sure.

The most reasonably priced and tasty Indian food you will find in the KC area! While other places are charging $$$ for the same dishes, Shagan's keeps their prices low, without sacrificing the quality of their food. I ordered delivery from here, and everything I tried was delicious. The menu isn't as extensive as other restaurants, but there were still plenty of tasty options! I ordered the non-vegetarian thali with chicken curry and butter chicken. I also ordered a paratha, garlic naan, and gulab jamun. Instead of the gulab jamun, I received a samosa, which was probably just a mix-up. Everything I tried was still warm and tasted wonderful! I would highly recommend ordering from Shagan's and will plan to order again when I'm craving curry!

This is high quality HOME COOKING! As far as Indian food goes I have tried an extremely large variety from good old home cooking to fancy restaurants serving $25 curries. This place is making food that tastes like food you would get from a really good home cook. Do not expect the standard restaurant flavors you may be accustomed to from Indian places. Definitely try the combo platter for a good deal and the opportunity to try multiple dishes. If it wasn't obvious from the name, you have to try the parathas. If you are new to this try the aloo paratha (potato filled bread) and if you aren't new then any of their offerings are great. Personally my favorite is their butter chicken.

So have had food to go twice before, all chicken dishes are amazing. Today we Got Chicken Curry it was hands down the favorite of my Indian dining partner. The paranatha is a favor of mine, Nan somehow stuffed with potatoes, the grilled chicken= yum. And yellow Dahl was GREAT. Not the kinda place you would want to eat at (sit down) very basic inside, you can but take out is my suggestion. ( FYI only rating on food not atmosphere)

It is always exciting to visit a new restaurant--even if the "new" restaurant is simply a new location of a restaurant established in Overland Park--and the latest edition to the strip mall along Ward Parkway Boulevard does not disappoint. I visited Shagan's yesterday for lunch, and was so elated with my meal that I had to wait a day to write my review for fear that my writing would come off as a love letter rather than an assessment of the culinary experience. In the cool reasoning of the next day, I found that a love letter is exactly the kind of review Shagan's deserved. The restaurant is not flashy. There is no art on the walls or opulent decor. But it is clean and the service is friendly. The menu is a wipe board on the counter with seven entree choices, the first four of which are typically the same from day to day with the last three changing as specials. The food is fresh and flavorful. And they are happy to answer questions. The food represents home cooking in all the best ways. Shagan learned to cook from her mother, and the food on the menu is representative of the Punjab region in Northern India. The meal was delicious, and I am glad that I came to lunch with my husband so that we could taste more of the entree choices. We each had two entrees with garlic naan, basmati rice and added vegetables. Among them, we sampled Mixed Daal, Chicken Curry, Buttered Chicken, and Sarson Da Saag. All of them were delicious--and we ate every bite with rapturous delight--but standout stars, in my opinion, were the Butter Chicken and the Sarson Da Saag! Both were especially wonderful, and I hope that I am lucky enough to see them on the rotation the next time I stop by. Of course, if they are not, I don't doubt that I will find new favorites on the menu. The food was comforting, filling, and flavorful, and I cannot wait to return!

Favorite hidden gem of Waldo. I've tried a majority of the entrees and they are all flavorful and just make your soul feel warm. Garlic naan is . Love stopping by for lunch or for takeout dinner.

Always looking to try new places and this was very good. Choice of any 3 entrees with rice and bread (you're own little buffet). Samosas are good as well. Sam was eager to help and answer any questions. We've spent more on fast food and had it not be 1/100th as tasty and fresh. We'll be back soon.

So glad Shagan's has a second location closer to home! It was worth the drive out south, but now it's going in the regular takeout rotation. The butter paneer is my favorite, but everything on the menu is delicious and made with love, and the menu changes every day. You can't go wrong, just be sure to order extra roti!

Honestly some of the best Indian food I've had in a while. The service is great and quick. It's close to work so definitely one of my new go to take out spots.

The rotating menu means there's always something new to try, the samosas are HUGE for $2 and so delicious, and the staff is helpful and very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. I don't have a single bad thing to say, I look forward to frequenting Shagan's!

Tried for the first time by getting lunch to go. Will definitely be back. I got the 2 entrees (veggie korma and curry chicken) with rice and garlic naan. It was fantastic. Pros- food was delicious. Super flavorful. Served fast. Cons- not much, will be back when craving Indian food in a hurry. Not as extensive a menu as other Indian options. the interior isn't much to look at, so if you're looking for a fancy establishment I would look elsewhere. Kind of expensive ($15 for lunch), but I don't mind supporting a small local business.

Delicious Chicken Tikka Masala! Flavor is a little spicy, savory and grilled/smokey. It's my new favorite take out place.

Everything about this restaurant was right in! They had delicious samosas and even gave me three when I only ordered two. Very generous or a very delicious mistake. They were extremely accommodating. I had injured myself and they were more than willing to bring my order to my car. They even enough of their unique blended condiment. I had the potato naan which was tender and absolutely filled with flavor. I also had the mixed vegetables which were teeming with spices that were not hot but were deep and tasty. My daughter recommended this restaurant since I just moved to the area and was searching for quality Indian food that was both delicious and healthy. I have found my joint! Great place with friendly owner and workers. I shall return! BYW, there was enough for two meals. Luckily, I ordered two pieces of naan.

We went for the first time today and the woman working was extremely friendly and helped us decide what to get. We ended up deciding on chicken tikka and butter paneer. WOW. AMAZING!!!! We will definitely be coming back soon. 10/10.

This was, by far, the best Indian restaurant I've experienced in Kansas City. Great food, excellent service, and fast - what more could you want? I ordered the three-entrée combo with chicken, tikka masala, butter chicken, and curry chicken.

I come here usually 2 times a week (or more) for lunch between my classes and I seriously can't get enough of the food. Everyone I take with me agrees. Probably the best Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken in the city, and the Garlic Naan is awesome too. Big filling portions and full of flavor!!!

Wow! Just wow! This place is hidden behind the Main Street but totally worth the find. Nothing spectacular on the inside but who cares... the food is AMAZING. The staff is sweet. I can't wait to come back!

Don't let the inside of this place fool you, the owners, workers are warm and welcoming. The food here is fantastic. The Butter Chicken was full of flavor, rich, and comforting. I could eat the garlic naan for every meal. Stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Recently opened and still getting some of their things in, but really good,authentic Indian. Richly spiced curry that tastes like it's home made. 90% of Indian places around taste like they use the same vendor with the same ingredients that all tastes identical, but Shagan tastes different in the best way possible. A few more options and a soda fountain would easily take it to a 5.

I thought it was bland. I had both butter chicken and chicken curry. Not a yogurt creamy sauce like I was expecting for butter chicken. Thin and watery lacking much flavor.
