Where to Eat Out During Ramadan Around Chicago

"Shahi Nihari offers a selection of Pakistani, Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian dishes, including lollipop chicken, Thai curry, palak paneer, and the namesake nihari, a Pakistani beef stew that’s cooked overnight. There’s also a separate American menu with burgers and quesadillas. The tables are set with white tablecloths and glasses with napkins precisely folded inside." - Ashok Selvam, Tasmiha Khan

Well hat’s off to theirs chicken karahi….it was excellent and quantity was good enough for 2 people. We also ordered garlic nun which was soft and paratha was too good. Had their faluda which was ok… overall good experience and the ambience was nice and cozy.

Google
A halal Indo Pak restaurant in Villa park area. We had dinner there and food is average. I felt the price is higher with the food quality and quantity. The restaurant has wide variety of menu and most were available. It’s a very good place for big groups and parties as well. Staffs were friendly

Hena Shareef

Google
We ordered the hot and sour soup, nihari with naan, chili garlic chicken dry, chicken hakka noodles, and the burnt chili garlic rice, falooda for dessert. Everything was tasty and the food came out quickly. Service was very good.

October 2024 | Saturday Nihari 2/10. Totally bland. Chicken corn soup 7/10 Would I recommend Nihari? No Update: Review stays. Mentioned this to Manager and staff member. No action was taken during our time on-site.

Google
Absolutely amazing food! Incredibly nice staff! Can’t get over how amazing the food was. The chicken Karahi is a must try. Beef samosas too! Thanks so much!

Zara Aziz

Google
Nihari was watery , old yellowish , with lots of corn flour or wheat slurry small pieces in gravy. Look like re heated old nihari by adding additional water etc etc . THE SHAHIs NIHARI is not same as before. Meat quality also not the same. Nihari looks like SHORBAY SALAN .

Google
I am a regular customer. I complain 2 times about the naan. I got like this again. Never go there again. Every time I go to this restaurant, I spend 100 to 150 dollars. Never again. They mess up with togo order everytime. They think customers do not check.

Google
“Fantastic experience at Shahi Nihari and chopsticks From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and was very attentive throughout the meal. I highly recommend starting with the [Dish/Appetizer], which was bursting with flavor. For the main course, the [Main dish Nihari was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were generous, and we even had room for dessert, which was the perfect ending to the meal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yelp
Been by several times - this time I was headed home and decided it was a good opportunity to grab a takeout order so I did. A bit of an odd offering as the menu has Indo-Pak, Chinese and American options - burgers and such. Perused the menu and decided to get the Chicken Qorma. At $16.99 I got about 6 pieces of small to medium sized chicken, two of which were mostly bones. Gravy/sauce was good - had a little kick to it, but not over the top. Also ordered some basmati rice to go with it - that was $5.99 and was more than enough - still have some in my fridge, was very good. I ordered some naan as well - the host was trying to upsell me on two pieces - the single order is quite a large (long) piece - one was fine. Pretty good as well. The order did suffer a little from the 20+ minute ride home - would have been better at the restaurant. Given the dearth of Indo-Pak restaurants in the west burbs, I'll likely go again, but I have had better Indian food in the city and at a place in Bloomingdale that sadly closed after some 30 years.

Yelp
Yes! Good, reliable nihari, good biryani, decent kadahi gosht served in an actual kadahi, great grill platters. We always experience consistency when we come here. We mostly come with a large group and order a boatload of stuff, more than we can handle. The service is always quick and careful. The drinks are awesome(mocktails). We always get their mojitos, which I will argue, aid in digestion. We have also had their brunch which is equally delicious. Grilled items are actually grilled as in smokey, not flat top griddle. Nothing tastes old or reheated (I've had that in proper Indian/Pakistani restaurants..you can't fool me guys). On that note, clean silverware, tables, and glasses too! Do not sleep on their "Chopsticks" menu items. I love their Thai vegetable curry, chili garlic shrimp, burnt garlic fried rice, and other items. They do have plenty of vegetarian items as well. The place is nice and clean. There is plenty of space too. Oh, and don't forget to try their falooda!

Yelp
Not sure why the reviews are so low but I've been here multiple times over the years and they're a classic spot for desi people in the Chicagoland area for a reason. Some of the best Indo-Chinese food I've ever had and their service is nice and quick. You can't go wrong with your choices most of the time and their buffets are good, but we stick with the indo chinese options because you can't get that quality and taste elsewhere. The ambiance is nice, pretty packed most of the time. Big portions too!

Yelp
I placed an order today via call and it went through. Telling me it will be ready in 20 min i came and pick it up and i was told there was no order! This indian restaurant are terrible in getting orders to pick up or delivery! This ja not the only firat time it happened but it seems like Indian restaurants are just hard to place an order every weekend! Terrible terrible terrible experience!

Yelp
Food here is Excellen! I ordered a lunch special and dined in, service was great, atmosphere warm and welcoming, the chicken 65 and kebab was so good I ordered the same thing to go to have for dinner! Definitely will return!

Yelp
This place has me flummoxed. Let me explain. Entering the place, the aroma of Indian food hits you, it was great. We were well received and seated in the middle of the hall. The server was super friendly and had many suggestions and recommendations. We picked one of those for starters, the Chicken Samosa and Tea. We were hungry af and so when the samosa came in, we started devouring it with a passion, only to realize that the chicken inside was bad!!!! The smell hit me at once. The server was embarrassed and he took it all away and promised to bring me vegetable samosa's instead. Another 15 mins of toe tapping and stomach rubbing got us vegetable samosa's... again devour and then realized that the potato filling inside was still frozen!!! Lol. At this point in time all I was sipping on was tea, and let me tell you it was fabulous! So we told our server to forget appetizers and get us the actual entrees. So then came the mix grill platter and chickens biryani.... And oh boy! The kabob in the mix grill platter were divine! Tasted exceptional and my palettes were dancing with joy and stomach finally stopped growling at me. The biryani rice was fantastic too, but will say was mild when it came to the medley of spices. To me Biryani is rich in mix of various spices and the aroma of rice, that was missing here, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. We forgot the bad experience from just a few mins back with the samosa!! We ended the dinner with falooda which was awesome too. So there you go... the reason I was flummoxed, salta eyes very bad but ended with a bang! Would I recommend this place to anyone else... maybe!!!

Yelp
We were party of about 25 people and the service was Horrible. Food was served cold we had to request for it to be reheated. When asked for more Naan/bread instead of saying politely it's coming, they said they have to serve other customers first! What a JOKE!!

Daniel B.

Yelp
Please, do not trust these bad reviews. I've driven past this place a bunch of times and have wondered about it. I met a couple friends there last night (on a Tuesday). Was quiet at 6:45pm but by the time we left at 8:30 they had a pretty decent crowd for a Tuesday. The food is absolutely amazing, all of it. We had some Aloo Samosa's, Chana Masala, Chicken Makhti, Nihari, and a dish from Chopsticks similar to a Chicken Lo Mein. I can't say it loud enough, the food was seriously top notch, our server was authentic and super personable and fun, what a great place! A+++!!

Yelp
We had a large variety of dishes from Thai curry vegetables to goat biryani, grill platters, chili chicken kadai gosht and mire. We all thoroughly enjoyed each item. The mojitos were refreshing and bright. Ended with amazing faloodas. Great service, clean We will certainly be back!

Yelp
Served fresh, authentic South Asian Amazing food. Service was excellent As it was a weekend we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Prices were reasonable Place was clean and tidy

Yelp
My culture group planned to go here today. The organizer called ahead of time to ask about reservations. "You don't need reservations. Just come on in, we will set you up in 5-10 minutes." We set a time for 12:00 pm when they opened. Three of us got there at the same time. There were about six cars in the parking lot. The greeter said "We filled up." We were astonished. A member who had called prior was told that we would not need reservations. She talked to him. "We filled up." No sorry, no "It must have been a misunderstanding. Just "We filled up." A group member spoke the language and she found out that someone had called and booked the entire restaurant. This was just rude and disrespectful to the general public. At least post something on the door or the website!

Yelp
It's a typical Pakistani restaurant. They have a very elaborate menu and also serve Chinese. Food is ok but it's very very oily and spicy you need to tell them to go low on those. Biryani was full of spice and the rice was kind of oily .we ordered Chinese too it was ok nothing great ... The service is quick. Go there before the rush hour . The servers are good and friendly. I would not care to go back though . It's nice to try different foods !!

Yelp
I went in on a Friday, early evening. Prompt and friendly customer service. We were seated immediately. We ordered beef samosas, they came out fresh and were spicy and crunchy. For our entrees we ordered the Nihari and the Chicken Tikka Boti. The Nihari was very delicious and had a healthy amount of beef. The Chicken Tikka Boti was amazing, spicy and tasty. Their naan is so fresh and fluffy as well! I like the portions here because their large enough to share with your partner and family. They only have Chicken Biryani Monday through Thursday so I'll have to be back!

Yelp
Not sure why so many negative reviews. I went with a group of ten. We ordered: Cilantro fried rice with shrimp: group favorite; Highly recommended. Mongolian beef and Beef and broccoli: both tasted the same to me. Make sure you ask for spicy. It doesn't come on a bed of crispy noodles. It comes with a side order of vegetable fried rice. Chicken makhni: tasted fresh. A close second to Sabris. Group loved it. Hawker noodles with shrimp: huge portion. They did not go cheap with shrimp. Chicken 65: this was also great. Portion is on not huge, we probably could have ordered two. Pista ice cream: this was huge, 3-4 people could eat it. Pista falooda: not as good as tahoora, but still good.

Yelp
Been there a few times. Their food is excellent. They have been able to maintain the quality and service.

Khozem D.

Yelp
This place was average at best before, but our recent experience has put this place in NeverGoAgain category. We went for an EID dinner buffet and the actual buffet did not have a main item (Kebabs) that was mentioned in the advertisement. In addition to charging the top price for the buffet, the place also charge $5 per person as gratuity. When we asked the management to compensate for the lack of Kebabs in the buffet, they gave a lame excuse of having other items to substitute for that. They also said they do not really care about the bad reviews from us. We have vowed never to go back to this place again.

Yousuf A.

Yelp
Worse Pakistani restaurant hands down. Food is totally garbage. Karahi chicken I ordered was nothing but the worse chicken curry I ever had. They need to replace the chef immediately.
google avatar

Mehruba A.

Yelp
The lamb kabobs were very dry and underseasoned. The gyros were also very underwhelming and dry. Everything was served on styrofoam plates. The salad they gave was not made with vegetables that were crisp and fresh. The restaurant was not very clean, there was food left on most of the tables and food scattered throughout the floor. The food here is halal.

Yelp
I have come to this location for years! I think it is such a hidden gem and honestly I don't understand the 2.5 star rating. The Pakistani food is awesome, the indochinese is great and even the sandwiches are great. I go out of my way to come here and pre covid their buffet was one of my favorites, I hope I can catch it now at some point. I highly recommend the beef nehari, the falooda, the Hakka noodles and the chicken club sandwhich. I find that the service is a little iffy at times but I've never had an issue with the food itself; just long wait times or not being so attentive but I'm willing to put all of that aside for the food quality, variety, and consistency. I love this place and I've been coming here since about 2014. Please try it out. It's a decent size place so you can bring family it's a little tight and they do have a party room as well I think. I've always found the resturant clean and bathrooms clean as well

Yelp
A very cool place to eat great Pakistani food! The building is nice and is kept pretty clean. The decor is very typical of a standard Indian/Pakistani restaurant. The menu has nearly all the mainstream Pakistani food items for offer. We were able to order quite a few items and the food is outstanding. Really great flavors. The nihari was amazing. This is one of those dishes that take a good 7-8 hours of cooking and requires some real culinary skills. The nihari here really was fantastic. We ordered the daal tarka and the saag paneer for our veggie dishes. Both were very well made. The non-veg items ordered included chicken karahi, chicken boti, and the Bihari kebab. All of this with garlic naans. Everything was served hot and at the right level of spice- about a mild-medium level. The Bihari kebab is a specialty dish which is hard to make. This was made okay- not outstanding. The meat was super tender however the flavors weren't quite perfect. All the other dishes were great. The one issue I had was that we ordered appetizers. This was simply forgotten about. We received our entree dishes and asked about the appetizers. The server apologized and went back into the kitchen to find out. We didn't see him again. The items did however appear on the bill. The other thing that was a little frustrating was the bussser. He kept coming up while we were eating with his cleanup trolley to take things away. Why? We are still eating!!! If you're want to clear the odd plate away, that's fine but why bring that nasty cleanup trolley? And he took our Bihari kebab plate with about a third of the dish still remaining. I had to shout out at him to put it back on the table. Jeez!!! I told him to leave us alone until we have finished. So overall, the food is great. Not every dish is perfect but the food really is great. The service is not wonderful. The server is trying so I give them some credit. Mistakes can happen. But the busters need better trading. Should you go here? Yes!

Yelp
Chicken Biryani was good but there were these pits that you can easily crack a tooth on.

Yelp
Delicious food with warm hospitality Love to visit again and again Nice family place

Yelp
Service horrible. They never come to your table. Here at3. No one here. They all sit at a table n talk. Biryani barely any meat. Small order of butter chix. Nihari one piece of meat. No one ever came back to refill our Waters . We were waiting for someone to come to our table so we could order dessert . They never did. We had to flag down one of the girls that was sitting at a table with everyone of the employees and we asked for a menu so we could order a dessert . We must have sat at the table another 20 minutes before we finally gave up on dessert and asked for the bill. Will not come back. Update. we had to ask for our bill and then we had to ask for our change.

Yelp
Awesome Awesome delicious food!! I can use all the good adjectives for this restaurant.

Yelp
We had a large group of 13 for dinner at 6p on a Friday. We made reservations and they were ready to seat us immediately upon arrival. I had low expectations reading numerous reviews but our entire group enjoyed our dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food was far superior to some of the reviews and wanted to leave a more recent favorable review. We tend to be picky and end up at Devon for hosting folks out of town. We tried them because of the location and after having just had Sabri Nehari a week ago, many adults remarked that we actually liked their Nehari here better! The Chinese Hakka noodles combination was also really good along with the chicken tenders for our kids. My father loved the karahi gosht and although it's a bit pricey, it's worth it as they gave plenty of high quality meat pieces and didn't skimp there. The naan was also fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was top notch. The few areas of opportunity were that the mutton biryani wasn't great and didn't have enough meat in it and second, I didn't care for the haleem. Lazzat haleem is my favorite hands down! Two elderly women in our group actually liked the haleem a lot here so it's still a good option. The chicken pakoras were a bit too dry for my liking. I'm so glad we decided to come here and we will most certainly be back!

Yelp
Very disappointed today. We were visiting from KC and in the past have had good meals here- and have eaten here at least a couple of times. Typically it has had authentic Pakistani food. Today it was very sub- par. - chicken karahi: can certainly NOT be called chicken karahi. It was chicken gravy. Completely false advertising. If I was not Pakistani I would obviously not know, but since I am- I obviously do. - chicken tikka boti- very average - reshmi kabob: I am not sure I know what they r supposed to be like, but my husband said they were not like reshmi kabobs at all either. - chanas: very average. Will certainly not be going again and will not recommend unless someone tells me they have improved. No pictures-sorry! Completely forgot to take.

Sweet G.

Yelp
Love this Pakistani restaurant! Shahi's staff was super friendly and patient. They didn't try to rush us while we try to decide what to order! We got nihari and their spicy garlic chicken with garlic naan. Food was yummy and good quantity! Aloo samosas are really good too! Their Chinese food is cooked by a Chinese chef so it was authentic and delicious! I would highly recommend people try this Pakistani restaurant!! I have been their several times and this restaurants never fails! Can't wait to go back again

Yelp
Large space for seating and a useful combination of mainly manchurian Chinese cuisine with northern Indian / south Asian food. The service is a bit hit or miss in terms of having to haul down someone to take your order (we did go on a busy weekend evening so the place was packed but we only waited for ten minutes to be seated) They have two sets of menus and thankfully have pictures as well, all combined into one book. It looks like their specialty is the beef Mongolian and the nihari I tried the nihari which was amazing and just the way it should be if you're from Lahore And also tried the chicken manchurian with gravy which was quite spicy and the noodles with chicken which may have needed a bit more spice. They also have mango lassi and regular sweet lassi the yogurt drinks everyone loves Although an acquired taste trying the Paan after the dinner is also quite a treat and they have it available

Yelp
INDO-PAKIN' IT IN A ridiculously good lunch special all but negates the fact that I felt like the invisible diner. Following a conversation with several coworkers who mentioned that there's very few quality Indian restaurants in the western Chicago suburbs, I was advised to seek out Shahi Nihari per the glowing recommendation of Shreyas C. I made the trip down North Ave on a Monday for their touted lunch special. It was pretty quiet at noon on 7/30/18, so I got to enjoy my meal in peace & quiet, which was nice. The only option at the time was the $7.99 deal, and that's exactly what I came for. Choices for lunch special include 2 meats: kabab, chicken '65', philly steak, and a few other variations of chicken like 'boti' and 'frontier'. I went with the 'malai' chicken (the Indian equivalent of Jamaican jerk chicken) and beef chapli, which were sorta like seasoned burger patties. All lunch specials come with plenty of naan bread, 'dal' (lentils), rice, and a TON of condiments. Besides the awesome 'raita' (cucumber yogurt), there was also a pair of chutneys and some vinegar based sauces. No shortage of flavors and dips, I'm a big fan of that. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 2 Maybe it's because it was a Monday, maybe it's because it was a sleepy lunch hour, maybe it's due to a race thing (really hope not), but I barely got any interaction from my server. I even said "dhanyavaad" (Hindi for 'thank you') to two employees and basically got a blank stare. Maybe it was the wrong dialect? :\ * TL;DR * An amazing midday lunch deal (valid from 11:30am-3pm) can be found here at Shahi Nihari, just don't go expecting incredible service to go with the incredible value. I'd like to return during dinner at some point, but I definitely will come back for lunch.

Yelp
We ordered iftar items. Picked it up at 7:10. Mind iftar is at 7:59. It costed us $70 for the iftar in picture along with biryani and seekh kabab/naan. Pakoras were stale. Looks like they were refried because they were hard and chewy. Cholay were sweet with khattay potato. Looked like imli chutney was mixed and thats it. No onions, no masala. Fruit chaat was i dont even know what to say. There was no banana plus the chat wasnt sweet. When you take a bit, all you can taste is chat masala. Chicken Samosas were fresh. Dahi baray was good. I mean its hard to screw up dahi baray. Veggie rolls didnt have any flavor. Seekh kabab we found pebble which was cherry on top. Now we have had their buffet last year and it was a good experience. But i dont know if their cook left or what happened but i feel like $70 went down the drain. I feel bad in wasting that much food.
google avatar

Sami U.

Yelp
The quality of the food has really depreciated - I ordered chicken 65, karahi ghosh, naan, fried rice, and falooda for a iftar party and honestly the only thing that was good was the falooda and the rice. Back in the day this place was very good from what I can remember but now this is not the case. Hope they can start focusing on quality again.

Yelp
We love coming to get Desi Chinese when we are in the suburbs and this place is our go to! We ordered hot and sour soup, chicken spring rolls, Mongolian beef and chicken chow mein. The food was good but they really need to hold off on the salt because everything was very salty. The service was great and the prices weren't bad, I would definitely recommend if you are ever in the area!

M.A D.

Yelp
if you really wanna curse pakistani food and its taste THEN please go to this place. the restaurante has old/extremly bad food and service!

Shuja K.

Yelp
I give it two stars for the following reasons: We were a party of 8 people to dinner last evening so 18% gratuity was automatically added. Therefore, the service was extremely poor as the staff knew that 18% tips were guaranteed. The table was not cleared after dinner after multiple requests. When asked for the bill, the waiter walked up to the desk and announced the total charges. Didn't offer a printed bill until i asked for it. This was extremely embarrassing as I was entertaining guests from out of town. The prices are that of a $$ 1/2 Resturant but the service is that of a cheap fast food carry out.
google avatar

York R.

Yelp
I don't get why this place is rated so poorly. We always love the food we order from here, though admittedly it's always take out so I'm not sure how it is indoor. Their chicken makhani is fantastic and their chicken 65 is great too.
google avatar

A J.

Yelp
Food quality has dropped significantly! The food tasted stale/old, naan was thin and burnt. I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon. I'd rather spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

Ayaan K.

Yelp
I was at shahi nihaari today, alhumdulillah everything was good, me, my brother and my father came together and the food was good not amazing or outstanding but just good, sauce in american chopsy was too sweet, like the syrup in gulab jamun. Portions were to small, we're gon go somewhere else after eating here. Shrimps were too small and most probably those shrimps came out of a restaurant depot box $15 for 6 small shrimps is too much. Literally i feel like those $15 dollars was wasted.
google avatar

Faraz A.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance/space set up and cleanliness. Good mutton biryani, BBQ platter and chicken karahi and decent naan. Doodh patti chai was nice too. I would definitely recommend. And parking not a nightmare like Devon street. Servers wearing masks and gloves. And staff and patrons following Covid guidelines. Nice, clean bathrooms.

Areej R.

Yelp
Pretty good food - everyone was happy with it but there were crumbs in the chicken pakora more than the pokora.

Adeel K.

Yelp
Website clearly states lunch special/ pricing . When you get there they tell you it doesn't exist . Remove it off your website if that's the case, it's the first thing that pops up.
google avatar

Samiya N.

Yelp
This food is top notch and good service overall. It's a little more pricy than your average Indo-pak restaurants. Two different cuisines in one restaurant. We had the two types on sambosa for appetizers (Samosa) some lamb Biryani, Fried shrimp and Mongolian beef with white rice. Also the regular chicken strips and burger with fries . Everything was delishhhh. Will be coming back again.

MoMo K.

Yelp
Came here this past sunday at 2:00 for buffet. $19 per person. Every single dish was cold. Fish was cold. Omelette was cold. Goat biryani was cold. Naan was cold. Chapatti was cold. Nihari which is their main dish had no beef in it. Total rip off. Their buffet ends at 3:00, maybe just maybe if you come at noon you will get fresher food and nihari with beef in it. Disappointed

Cindy F.

Yelp
I am giving 2 stars because the food was actually good. However, the service and prices are horrendous so you really don't get what you pay for. I went to their buffet brunch and they had a nice selection. But they charge 25 dollars for the buffet and that seems very steep. I know times are rough with the pandemic but they need to be reasonable. Add to that is a 20% service charge for a table of 5 or more. My question is why? It's a buffet, no one is serving me and honestly 20% is ridiculous to begin with. We walked away paying $160 for 5 people and honestly I could have spent half that at a desi restaurant by choosing items off of a menu.

Sameer R.

Yelp
What happened to this business? People on our household have been fasting all day, the food was ordered 3 hours ago for a 715 delivery. 847pm currently and nothing has arrived yet. The uber eats driver was waiting for 30 minutes. Step your game up, there are plenty of Desi Establishments in the area that can dish out quality food and on time.

Yelp
Thank you So Much Shahi Nihari & Chopsticks, this is by far the best khawsa I have ever had! Worth the driving and I have never ever seen so much Lawazmaat with khawsa! Very professional and yummy! It's worth every penny! Now, let's talk about Halwa, I don't know a lot about food but halwa is really good. It melts in your mouth! I am so glad that I have tasted this deal. Thank You

Yelp
Sad to say, the quality has dropped significantly. Looks like new management has taken over. After going here for many many years, wont be going back. The food is expensive and is tasteless. You will be given burnt food.. There is no customer service at all, which is typical. Don't waste your time here. Definitely not same Shahi Nihari it use to be.

Yelp
Hubby and I saw this place and wanted to try a new spot for Chinese cuisine. We choose 3 items to enjoy at home and so we called it in while sitting in the parking lot. My husband admired the attire of the staff inside and paid the $57 for our 'fine dining' experience. Needless to say we were sorely disappointed. The rice was barely warm, the shrimp were inedibly overcooked and the kung pao chicken - while tasty - was drenched in gravy. I was gob smacked at how little we received for this price. Definitely not a good value for the $ and we won't return

Yelp
We have been there during Lunch Buffet and it was our worst decision. Food was very Oily with minimum Vegetarian Option. Even price was Expensive . They didn't offer us a la carte while they do offer it to the Next Group. Beware before you plan to go there..

Yelp
Food is average also overpriced. When it comes to pay the bill, they will try their level best to rip you off on the name of "Service Charges". Please remember that "Service Charges" can only be added in the bill if you have a dining with 6 or more people. Unfortunately, at this restaurant, they add "service charges" to almost everyone when bill is being paid. This is what law says about "Service Charges" Please keep your eyes opened when you pay at this place and make sure you check the bill twice. ***************************************************** "Service Charges is when a restaurant automatically adds a gratuity charge to the bill of a party. Usually, this gratuity is equal to 18% of the bill and is only applied to parties of six or eight or more. Generally, a restaurant will print this policy on its menu to alert patrons before they receive their bill." ***************************************************** But manager told he would add "service charges" on any number of people and Yes! Restaurant should print it on the menu to show clearly what they would charge as "Service Charges" before they sever food. At Shahi Nihari they don't. All they want is to grab maximum amount of $$$$$ out of your pocket. They are even doing it to everyone on IFTAAR on the month of Ramadan 2022? WOW WOW. I tried to talk to the manager about it but he kept on trying to justify these charges saying that he doesn't care what law says and this was his own policy about billing? GOOD JOB Shahi Nihari. This is called stealing by the way and YES you are stealing money from people who don't even look at the bill when they pay. STAY AWAYYY!
