24 Sweet Tooth–Satisfying Bakeries in Denver | Eater Denver

"Pandemic or no pandemic, there’s room for only one customer at a time at this takeout-only Iraqi bakery — the production area behind the counter takes up most of the space, as various flatbreads fresh from the clay oven line the tables in all shapes and sizes amid racks of baklava and displays of manakish (similar to pizza). Reminiscent of naan, the delightfully chewy khubz is a great place to start here." - Eater Staff

Fill Up on Bread at These 13 Denver Restaurants | Eater Denver

"Like the stories told by Shahrazad in “One Thousand and One Nights,” the breads at this Iraqi bakery are legendary. Flatbreads handmade in a tandoori oven, samoon (a type of baguette), manakish (a pizza-like dough topped in herbs, cheese, and meat), fatayer (a triangular pie filled with meat or spinach and cheese), sambusak (the ancestor of the samosa), and beef sausages wrapped in dough... Worth the drive to Aurora? Without a doubt." - Rebecca Treon

Google
Highly recommended. The happy feeling you will walk away with is memorable. Great as an easy gift too. And visually… oh, that, yes!

Google
Honestly such nice staff and all of the food is banger. We were introduced to the bakery through Too Good to Go, and we always end up buying more and new baked goods every time we are in. I cannot recommend them enough

Google
The pita bread of my dreams! I'm not exaggerating. They have delicious sweets, and the employee we talked with offered samples to both my wife and me - generous and tempting! - but the fluffy, delicious pitas are simply a star in my life I'll not be able to live without! We'll come back. We'll try their famous pistachio backlava made with butter. But I'm always getting a bag or two or three of those pitas.

Google
The staff and customer service at Shahrazad's bakery was unprecedented. As soon as I walked in the staff had greeted me and were very friendly. Offering the freshest bread. Piping hot coming out of the oven. I would highly recommend if you are looking for anything sweet or savory. They offer Arabic and Mediterranean baked goods. I had tried everything they had. Everything was amazingly delicious and fresh. The baklava was one of the many great baked goods that I would highly recommend anyone looking for something sweet. Another thing that was very unique was the black tea that they offer, I had never liked black tea until I've tried it at the bakery. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend to anyone in town!

Google
5 Stars – A Hidden Gem for Bread Lovers and Campfire Foodies! Shahrazad Bakery is an absolute treasure. Their hubus—a traditional Iraqi bread—is hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had. Soft, warm, and perfectly baked, it goes with everything. Whether you're scooping up hummus, pairing it with grilled veggies, or just enjoying it on its own, it’s pure comfort in every bite. We also tried their fatair (small pizzas topped with mozzarella and za’atar), and wow—what a hit! We brought them along for a camping trip in Moab, and they turned out to be the perfect campfire snack. Easy to pack, satisfying, and full of flavor—these little pies elevated our whole trip. If you're looking for delicious vegetarian options, authentic Middle Eastern bread, or just something special to bring on your next adventure, Shahrazad Bakery delivers. Don’t sleep on this place!

Google
This is hands down the BEST flat bread in Denver. It's warm, it's chewy, it's perfect. Absolutely DELICIOUS and inexpensive. We always get some when stopping by Epic Gear with the kids. Goes well with salads, soups and even some cheese and mushrooms.

Google
Amazing authentic little middle easter bakery. Freshly made naan (huge) that’s very delicious and affordable. The baklava is also incredible and highly recommend. This is a great local business, please come by and give some love (and spread it) for the Shahrazad Bakery.

Yelp
Quick grab and go spot. Server/cashier was friendly. Tried a mix of their baklavas and knafeh made with butter (they also offer made with oil). They were ok but a little too soggy for my taste. Tried the zaatar and zaatar with feta which were decent but I wasn't a big fan of the base (the bread) - it felt a little too doughy (not sure if I caught them on a bad day?) the other bread/roti was delicious and I'll come back for more of these any day! They also sell frozen bread and some additional treats. Pretty decent spot. I'll definitely give them another try soon and try more things.

Yelp
SB is located right next to Lenny's Golf and Ski. It's so hidden you have to look for the little open light to find the door. No menu on website or in store. They have four different kinds of baklava and I ordered the Kunafeh (this one didn't have cheese in the middle). While Kadayif is a common name for both the dough and the finished pastry, when filled with cheese this pastry is also called kunafa, kunefe, kanafeh, (depending on the country of origin). I saw multiple customers come in pick up large packs of Samoon bread (similar to pita but with live culture yogurt). Will be back to try more.

Yelp
Got a TooGoodToGo bag here and it was great, definitely plan to stop by here from now on. Decent samoon and knafeh! Friendly staff!

Yelp
Delicious middle eastern baked sweets and bread. I came in after seeing the sign and curious about The baked bread which is similar to laffa is amazing. It is $4.99 for four large pieces, which lasted almost a week for me and my wife. Small space. It was very busy so I know they have loyal repeat customers. Will come back again.

Yelp
I bought their Too Goo To Go surprise bags and I'm glad I did. Their Iraqi flat bread was delicious and still fresh and good to go. I will definitely try their other stuff when they are super fresh at normal business hours.

Yelp
Denver's only Persian/Iranian bakery. Best baklava in town. They offer pistachio, walnut and peanut prepared with corn oil or butter. They also have other desserts made with fillo strings over a sweet cream cheese base. You can get fresh or frozen breads. They are walk-in and takeout only, no tables. Light music was playing and it was airconditioned. They use clear clamshell packaging. The cashier was Shamir M. and he has been here for some time.

Jennifer Q.

Yelp
Best flat bread & baklava in Denver. Friendly service and great prices, too It's a little difficult to find, but once you figure it out you'll be back again and again

Yelp
Great breads and pastries. The inside is surprisingly modern and the service was great

Yelp
The zaatar was good but the kunafe wasn't even edible which was such a disappointment because we had been craving good kunafe for a while. It taste like it was old and soggy. Would definitely go back for the breads but leave the kunafe.

Yelp
Friendly bakery. They bake delicious baklava (4 different varieties-each with a different nut). After a free sample, I purchased 9 pieces. Also bought some bread. Next time I will try another type of bread.

Yelp
Great place for fresh Khubz bread and lots of other baked goods like Baklava, flat bread with herbs on top you can choose fresh or frozen. They also have soft cheeses, yogurts and such. I just love this bread and they make it daily, the staff is super friendly and accommodating they always have an smile on their faces.

Yelp
I like this bakery, especially the breads of all kinds, plain, with meats, cheeses, herbs. Delicious. Took my girlfriend in yesterday, introduced her to the bakery, she ordered a few pastries and when we got home, looked at the receipt, we were in shock... Nineteen dollars for just a few pieces of pastries! Perhaps they made a big mistake, maybe the owner will reach out and make it right. Was unable to email them. Have never had a problem there before. Could have been a new young man who added it up incorrectly.

Yelp
When there is a line out the door four people long, you know it's going to be good. This place did not disappoint! We buy baklava and some flatbread. It was delicious. I would love to become a regular.

Yelp
Great place for fresh Iraqi breads. $3.50 for 4 pieces of fresh baked bread can not be beat! Bread is made fresh every day. Also have fresh baklava which is the best I have ever had by far. This place is seriously underrated. You can get frozen day old bread for cheaper. They also have some other breads with zaatar, cheese, or meat. Very friendly staff, willing to explain everything to you. No sitting area, just a counter for ordering and paying.

Yelp
Phenomenal, fresh baked breads from every corner of the Middle East. For anyone who appreciates fresh pita, zattar bread, baklava etc. this place is a must. Everything is done in house by a sweet, hardworking family team.

Yelp
Went for the first time today. Tried: -Flat Bread: warm freshly baked and only a $1, very good! -Basbousa (semolina cake) : Coconut flavored and perfect amount of sweetness. -Butter Pistachio Baklava: Very good, not overly sweet. I saw they had Manakish (meat baked on pita bread), will definitely be back to try it.

Juan A.

Yelp
Very good place, everything is fresh and they are a very clean place, I would definitely recommend going there if you are craving some traditional sweets and some fresh bread as well

Yelp
Decided to try this place and I am glad I did, As stated in other reviews, the Khubz bread as great and so was the pita bread. The baklava was, as said before, the best I have ever had. Very small place. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I will be back for sure

Yelp
People are so nice and the foods are on-time, fresh & delicious they also make a few deserts like Kunafa and znood il sit.

Ann S.

Yelp
EXCELLENT! I highly recommend! The bread is fresh from the oven. We also purchased some sweet pastries and they were all delicious and recently made. The quality of their product is what keeps customers coming back. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
So thrilled that I found this bakery. I wanted to find a legit Middle Eastern bakery for a book club I was hosting and this is definitely the place! Upon entering, you are immediately taken in and entranced by the delicious smell of the bread being made right in front of you. So many authentic and delectable options to choose from. The employees were so kind and helpful, walking me through each item, informing of what each variety was / made of, as well as providing samples for me to try. Will definitely come back here to buy for any occasion and will tell as many friends / family members as I can about how amazing this place is.

Yelp
This Middle Eastern Arab bakery carries a great assortment of baked goods and bread items. Often times other Middle Eastern grocery stores carried fresh bread in sporadic fashion, but this place is almost always open and baking!

Yo K.

Yelp
This small bakery is a great find for freshly baked goods! You can get fresh made Iraqi bread, pita, Lebanese pie? (with different toppings like cheese, beef, zataar, etc.) and more. The lady at the front was super helpful and friendly. I got a cheese, zataar and beef pies, and some baklava. I ate the one with zataar and a baklava so far, and they both are delicious! I will definitely go back to try more. Highly recommended.
