The 19 Best Lunch Restaurants In Coral Gables

"This casual Persian restaurant on Ponce is perfect for a quick lunch with the office gang. There are high tops for larger parties and a long banquette by the wall if you’re tired of Natalia’s pictures of her nephew and want to sit alone. Our favorite thing to order here is the joojeh sultani platter. It comes with one chicken and one beef/lamb skewer, plus a heap of rice and a salad. The salad isn’t too memorable, but the skewers are tender and so big they drape over the edge of the plate. " - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

Shahs of Kabob Coral Gables - Review - Coral Gables - Miami - The Infatuation

"This is the third location for the self-proclaimed kings of kabob. It’s a casual Persian restaurant on Ponce that’s perfect for a quick lunch with the office gang. There are high tops for larger parties and a long banquette by the wall if you’re tired of pictures of Natalia’s nephew and want to sit alone. Our favorite thing to order here is the joojeh sultani platter. It comes with one chicken and one beef/lamb skewer, plus a heap of rice and a salad. The salad isn’t too memorable, but the skewers are tender and so big they drape over the edge of the plate. It’s perfect to share between two people. We wouldn’t come to this fast-casual spot for a date or formal dinner, but it’s great for lunch or any easy weeknight meal." - Virginia Otazo

Miami’s New Restaurant Openings - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Persian spot—which has a couple other locations in Miami—now has another restaurant in Coral Gables. The menu is heavy on kabob, but also has dips like hummus and mast-o khiar as well as a few stews like ghormeh sabzi." - Ryan Pfeffer, Virginia Otazo

My family and I went to the Coral Gables location of the Shah of Kebob for Mother's Day and it was beautiful. The background music was a little loud but the overall ambience and decor is beautiful. A really nice semi formal dining experience. They were running a little short on staff but the staff there was working hard and trying to keep up with the orders the best they should. The food was excellent, as usual. They never disappoint with the consistent quality of their food. The desert options were also great. Our family favorite was Baklava cheesecake, loved the way it was prepared. I've tried it at other places and they use rose water in the cake and it really overpowers the taste, this one was just right.

Shahs is by far my favorite lunch spot in the Gables. The food and service is amazing. When you go, ask for Sleyter. He brings great energy and recommends a new thing to try every time I go. And don’t forgot the sweets from sweet manifesto on your way out…

Google
Disappointing meal. Order arrived with zero sauces and salad dressing even though the sauces were specified in my order. The manager did not empathize with our disappointment and did not apologize. He said "I'm not saying you guys are lying, but my worker said he put the sauces in". We have a 2 month old baby which is why we are ordering delivery in the first place and certainly don't have time to lie about missing sauces. Very rude to insituate we'd lie. What terrible customer service and terrible customer experience. The food was okay but dry without the sauces, which are the best part of Shahs of Kabob. Salad was not much of a salad without dressing. This is our first time ordering from the Coral Gables location. We've typically ordered from the South Miami location no issues and they are also have real customer service at the South Miami location. Do better.

Google
I’ve ordered from multiple locations plenty of times. I always get the chicken platter with salad and rice and I always ask for it to be well done. Today I ordered from the Coral Gables location. It took like 30 mins longer than usual, when I finally received it the food was cold. But more importantly, the chicken smelled spoiled and this is how it looks: I asked other people in my office if it smelled bad to them and they confirmed it smelled spoiled. It threw it out but still ate some of the chicken that looked well cooked before. Praying I don’t get sick. Out of an abundance of caution I will not be ordering from this business again.

Shahs Kebab is truly the best Iranian restaurant in Miami! The food tastes just like home — full of authentic flavors, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Every dish is fresh and delicious, from the juicy kebabs to the fragrant saffron rice and crispy tahdig. 😍 The hospitality is just as wonderful as the food — everyone is kind, welcoming, and makes you feel like family. The portions are generous, and the presentation is beautiful. You can tell they put real heart into everything they do. If you’re craving true Persian cuisine in Miami, Shahs Kebab is absolutely the place to go! 💛🍢🇮🇷

Google

Google
I just had this food on Sunday with my best friend! It was fireeeee! The staff was knowledgeable and kind, the place was clean, and the food and experience was awesome. As the wall art said, “I came full, and left happy” haha My bestie had the koobideh large plate and I had the shrimp large plate and both were so good. My shrimp was seasoned so well and grilled to perfection. Shoutout to my guy at the register who works front and back, he did his big one on the food and customer service. We finished the meal off with a slice of the baklava cheesecake. Whew, lemme tell you that sh*t was next level. The portion was def a big back slice and the flavor and texture did not disappoint. I will def be coming back for the shrimps and to try some more of the desserts. If you are in the gables or not, def check them out. They are worth the trip! P.S. I’m not gonna take one star from you although I was let down they were out of falafel. Lolol I need that next time though.

Google
My favorite restaurant in Coral Gables! The food is always consistently delicious. Anyone visiting miami I always bring to Shahs of Kabob to have authentic Persian cuisine. Always order the family platter to try all the meats I can never pick my favorite. Only Persian restaurant ever that is seed oil free. The best dessert from the best Sweet Manifesto! Baklava Cheesecake is a must try

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place as I have heard nothing but good things. I got a to go meal so that I could enjoy at home. I got a family platter, and added cranberries. It came with a salad, and a yogurt sauce. Everything was so delicious. The meat was tender and very flavorful. The grilled tomato's were delicious. I wish that it came with more pita bread as that was my favorite part. I have had traditional Iranian food and I felt like this was a great option that is a great value.

Yelp
This small Persian fast-casual restaurant nextdoor to Anthony's pizza is a hidden gem in The Gables. I tried the chicken and the beef kabobs with a salad and was already thinking about what to get next time. The seasoning and various sauces made it special. I also appreciated the large amount of food they give with the full kabob plate. The employees were very nice and efficient. Nothing but smiles. I also included pics of the desserts because they're just that special. Baklava cheesecake was perfectly sweet. I should've had it with coffee. I will leave room for dessert next time. Keep in mind that there's a Park & Pay lot behind the restaurant, and also plenty of street parking in the surrounding area.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service! It's a casual spot to eat with friends or to grab to go! I really enjoyed the salad the rice was perfect I will say I preferred the chicken over the beef/ lamb. All the sauces they offer are also amazing! The service was quick and the place was very clean. Since this location is in coral gables you do have to pay for parking but if you are out and about in the area I do recommend stopping for lunch or dinner !
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely the best value for your dollar on uber eats. I often order the Koobideh plate and it a great portion of high quality, delicious food. I have also eaten in the restaurant and service is very quick and the restaurant is clean.

Yelp
Love this fast casual spot in the Gables for delicious and filling Persian food. You order at the counter but it's spacious and pleasant inside if you want to eat in. I find that the prices are good for the quality and portion size. I'm a big fan of their fries, especially with the many nice sauces and dips. A good option to fill up on something tasty in a relaxed environment!
google avatar

Yelp
Great restaurant! Loved everything we ordered. My boyfriend and I shared the family platter and a lot of leftovers for later. Food didn't take too long to come out either. Service was also great
google avatar

Vicky S.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice fast casual , you order at counter and they bring it to you. We ordered stew but they ran out of all of them so instead we had: JJoojeh Sultani - best thing, I had half rice and salad and a skewer of chicken and beef. I ordered the thick yogurt dip, Mast Khiar Which is like Rhita The Wrap was too small. This meals are a little small and pricey but good
google avatar

Yelp
SO GLAD we found this on a recent work trip. It's a fast casual restaurant with even faster service. Coming from Boston, you don't get authentic Persian food that easily. This place only had Persian heritage folks inside so we knew the food is bomb. I got their classic kabob and my friend got the chicken. The serving size will leave you satisfied and has a good mix of rice to salad ratio. You can't also just get salad/ rice but we got a mix. They also have a dessert store inside with sweet goodies. We shared the baklava cheesecake. Creamy cheese with crispy baklava, what a great mix!

Yelp
Shahs of Kabob is a very interesting and somewhat confusing dining experience. The furniture is mismatched and the Persian spot is blasting Latin American music. They serve tortillas here instead of naan or pita bread and they offer multiple random sauces such as chipotle mayo and honey mustard that make no sense with the cuisine. That being said, the meat is sooo good. The kafta and chicken were so flavorful, tender, and juicy. The meat cubes were perfectly cooked, but the former two were my favorite. The rice was also very good and so was the yogurt sauce and side salad. This is definitely one of the best halal options in Miami.
google avatar

Lara N.

Yelp
Shahs of Kabob is the most amazing Persian restaurant in the world. I've tried Persian food in many cities and nothing compares to shahs of Kabob. They have so many locations to choose from. Every single thing on the menu is amazing and authentic Iranian dishes. All the locations are so kind and treat you like family and the food is always consistent. I could eat here every day. If you've never tried Iranian food this is the restaurant to try great quality ingredients with delicious flavors. The chicken kabob and ground beef meat is so delicious and we order it at least once a week. A must try in Florida in any location. They also offer catering so amazing. My favorite location of Shahs of Kabob is the Coral gables location! We love to celebrate birthdays here

Faheem Q.

Yelp
Food was amazing! The chicken was buttery soft and tender. Salad was very refreshing and the yogurt sauce finger licking good. I can't speak enough about the food. Would go back again. Person taking the order gave the impression that he did not want to be there.

Yelp
Honestly, I'm blown away by the quality at Shahs of Kabob. This spot had been on my must-try list for way too long, and today I finally made it happen. After coming back from a vacation full of junk food, I was craving a high-quality, filling meal that would actually make me feel good. I've heard amazing things about this place, so I thought, Why not? Let me just say--it did not disappoint. In fact, it was so good that I went back and ordered a family-sized meal to meal prep for the next few days. Yes, it was that incredible. We ordered the kobideh platter, which came with rice, a lamb and beef kabob, and a fresh salad--all for around $18. Honestly, it was enough to feed two people. Talk about value! My absolute favorite part? They don't use seed oils, and the meat is hands down the best I've had in Miami. It reminded me of the kabobs I grew up eating back home in the Middle Eas--so tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The kobideh was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. And, not going to lie, when I got home with the family meal, I couldn't resist sneaking in seconds. The service was solid, and the vibe of the space is casual and chill... nothing fancy, but perfect for enjoying a fantastic meal in a laid-back atmosphere. If I could, I'd go back every day! Total 5-star experience, no question!

Farhad K.

Yelp
The rice and chicken were very dry and no flavour I'm sure the food wasn't fresh. The service was very bad. If you like Iranian food, you should try their old old shahs kabob in Sunset.

Yelp
For a fast food type restaurant the place was nice and inviting to sit and wait for your food to be delivered to you! Falafel Sandwich was great, hummus was good and there was an amazing assortment of desserts to choose from. Conveniently located just south of miracle mile.
google avatar

Aldana A.

Yelp
To note I ordered home delivery. This food was delicious and filling. Everything was so fresh and so decently priced . I got the jojeh. It was the perfect portion ! The rice was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh. I am definitely going in to check out this gem of a spot.

Yelp
Authentic Middle Eastern Food in the Heart of Coral Gables! Parking: there is street parking available. It may be kind of difficult in the evenings. We went around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. Drinks: they have a decent variety of soft drinks and Persian teas. I don't believe they have alcoholic drinks. Food: delicious! They have a wide variety of food. We each got a "small plate" of chicken, white rice and veggies. It was soooooo delicious! The serving size was more than enough for the money!! Service: very very nice people and really quick service!! Atmosphere/vibe: very casual but also looks very nice! Great Persian art on the wall. Their cutlery also looks gold so you feel like you're really in the Middle East!! Age group: all Bathroom: clean Return: for sure, when in the area!
google avatar

Veronica J.

Yelp
Came here with some co- workers for lunch. I ordered the small plate kebab. Half rice, half salad. I could eat that kebab every day. It was so tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Ella N.

Yelp
Authentic Persian food highly recommend. Variety of food and beverage. Portions fit prices well. 10/10 service, Arya was amazing. He seated us right away and attended in timely matter. Environment was welcoming and family friendly.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Casual ambiance. Order at the counter. Selection was decent. Excellent rice. Tasty platters. They mistakenly brought us only 7 of the 8 kabobs we ordered, but brought the 8th when we let them know. I imagine we'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Great Persian food and quick service I recommend going here for kababs! Love this place and go to spot, definitely recommend and delicious

Yelp
We came for lunch on a Friday just before noon, so it was empty. We ordered the Koobideh large plate and wrap. Both were delicious, the large plate had a generous side of salad. We also had the key lime pie for dessert (very good). The only negative side was the wait time. It took over 40 minutes to get our food, even though there was no one there when we arrived. The restaurant started filling up and we did notice a table of police officers, who came in about 10 minutes after we did, got served first. Also, I had asked for lemon or lime and they didn't have any. They didn't offer any other sauce. The service was good otherwise, but no apologies for the long wait. Lastly, the parking during peak hours is difficult. The restaurant is clean and modern with a nice ambiance.
google avatar

Zee A.

Yelp
Exceptional food. See why their business is growing. I have been eating here for about four years and love that they are expanding. Their Koobideh is to die for. (Not sure if spelled properly) I have ate at their competition in Downtown and it doesn't compare. Anytime I have a family member or friend visit. I have them try it themselves. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Maria K.

Yelp
Fantastic halal spot. Great, tender, flavorful meat with good platter options to share. Their service is great and good indoor seating options. We love having this as a safe dinner or place to take friends/family because we know it'll be good quality.
google avatar

Gema M.

Yelp
I was so excited to see Shahs of Kabob come to Coral Gables. Their salads and skewers are juicy and incredibly satisfying; but $30 for a large salad is unreal! Definitely won't be making this a regular for quick casual lunch spot at these prices.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Shahs of Kabob was highly recommended to us (I'm a big foodie, willing and open to trying new foods). Shahs of Kabob does not disappoint. The flavor, the quality and the aroma is mouth watering. The service was great, cashier was welcoming and helpful. We ordered the family platter that feeds 2 to 3 people. Depends on how you eat, but we definitely had left overs for another meal .
google avatar

Itzak H.

Yelp
Shahs of Kabob. A fun name but an even better dining experience. There is only one thing you have to know about Shahs of Kabob. Dips dips dips dips and dips. I ordered the falafel app which came with 5 big falafels, salad, hummus and pita bread all for $14. An incredible price in today's world. Not only were the falafels great but paired with the Mast Khiar yogurt dip and the French fries you're looking at a full delicious meal for two for under $30 The food was amazing, the dips were superb. They even will bring you three extra dips free of charge, a garlic dip, a mustard dip, and a spicy dip. I cannot get enough of this place. Great food, affordable prices, quick and friendly staff and a nice restaurant atmosphere make this a coral gables must try outside of Miracle Mile.
google avatar

Zynthia N.

Yelp
Food is amazing and fresh! The staff is friendly and the spot doesn't get too packed (not when Ive gone)
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
My boyfriend decided surprised me with some takeout and stopped by Shahs of Kabob. It was great! My favorite part of my meal was definitely the salad. You MUST get it with the dried cranberries, feta, and walnuts. The sweetness of the cranberries compliments the meal so well. The rice was delicious and the chicken was juicy and tender. I loved the garlic sauce as well as the sumac sauce were delicious. The lemon/oil vinaigrette the salad comes with was also delicious. The online ordering is definitely a huge convenience! My boyfriend had no issues picking the order. I'd love to try other dishes and go eat at one of their physical locations.
google avatar

Yelp
Welcome to the Gables! The best Persian Eatery has expanded in Miami with location number 3! I couldn't be happier to have more accessibility to the best kabobs in town. This location is a major expansion with plenty of space and upgrades. Surrounding the gorgeous interior are quotes by the famous poet Rumi. The atmosphere is casual yet chic. Their menu offers a wide selection of Persian and Mediterranean options. The platters are my go to and a feast for a party of two or more which includes choices of chicken, beef/lamb, and steak kabobs in addition to their incredible rice. The salad is my personal fave with generous toppings of cranberries, walnuts, and feta in a light and delicious dressing. The staff are incredibly kind and courteous...if you're lucky enough to meet the owner Amin you're in for a treat, he's the absolute best and a true example of Persian hospitality. You'll feel right at home at Shahs of Kabob. Fun fact: all of their meats are halal!

Yelp
Since I found about them online, I have been anticipating a great Persian meal here. We ordered 2 items: Ghormeh Sabzi and the Shahs Family Platter. Both were delicious. The Ghormeh Sabzi is what I expected with the stewed meat and vegetables plus it had the dried limes. All so good. The Shah Platter was awesome! Since I got it to go it was presented in a really great way. We received 2 trays one for the rice and one for the kabobs. The rice was absolutely delicious with bright yellow saffron infused rice on top of the white basmati presented in a tray for family style. The kabobs included 1 skewer Tomatoes, 2 Joojeh(chicken), 2 Chenjeh( marinated tenderloin) and Koobideh(beef and lamb spiced minced). All were cooked to perfection with the right amount of char and then served on top of 2 large Persian pitas just to sop up the juices. This was served with Shirazi salad and mast khiar both great accompaniments to round out the food. They served with 3 different sauces: white yellow and orange. Orange was savory spicy. White was garlic yogurt sauce and yellow was a super flavorful sauce for our family. Thank you for a great dinner.

Yelp
Excellent food, great prices and even better customer service. Definitely a new weekly spot to order from. Sebastian

Yelp
Incredible value for Persian food. Excited that they have multiple locations and a recent opening at Wynwood. Larger plates seem to be a better value as you can take some home. My kubideh was amazing.

Yelp
5 * Food 5 * Service 4 * Ambiance Everything is great! We will be back with friends and family .

Yelp
We have returned to this fabulous place!!! Everyone is so kind and the food is delicious. Best Around!!!

Yelp
Working in the Gables, there are countless locations for lunch. My coworker and I chose Shahs as I was craving Mediterranean. They did not disappoint. The chicken Joojeh platter was amazing! The chicken was extremely juicy and seasoned to perfection. They add a dressing for the salad as well as a paired sauce for the protein. My coworker has the mixed meats and she enjoyed her plate as well. The service was fast as we ordered to go. The young man was kind and attentive. They have lots of seating. The decor is very bright and clean with some quotes on the walls. I look forward to going again and trying other dishes.

Yelp
Subtracting stars due to the horrendous service served with a side of attitude. The kid that works there behind the register has no clue what customer service is and doesn't give AF. Wait until he destroys his family business. I placed my order for takeout, paid, waited for food to come out. Got the bag and made sure to check to see if everything I ordered was there. Nope! Two items missing. I tell the kid there's two things I PAID for missing from my order, he motions to someone to go in the kitchen. They bring the items after a long wait. NO APOLOGY from anyone, none. Zip. Zilch. Zero. These people are thieves!!! This isn't the first time this has happened. Another time I came in with my mom and they also "forgot" to bring a tadig we ordered and they got her order wrong. I heard her and can vouch for what she ordered. When food came out and she told them that's not what she ordered, the manager gave her so much shit for it and tried to gaslight her into thinking that's what she ordered because he took the order and didn't want to admit he was wrong. Too much ego and attitude with this bunch. Take your money and run. And you know what, their food isn't even good. Costco sells better kabobs. And their ghormeh sabzi stew is a joke, nothing but a can of red kidney beans. I should know, I'm Persian. Too bad there's not a lot of choices for Persian food in Miami, but after repeatedly being treated with disrespect and robbed, I refuse to support this business at any of their locations. You lost a customer for life.
google avatar

Arianna M.

Yelp
Delicious!! My first time having Persian food and I was not disappointed. I had the koobideh and the portions are huge! Everything is very tasty and fresh. They have a bunch of sauces but the Miami Heat one is amazing! The staff are friendly and accommodating. I will be returning !

Yelp
We had lunch and the overall experience was mediocre. When we entered, there was a person ordering from the counter so we went up and ordered from there. Big turn off was being asked to tip all we did was order food at that point. I put 20% down with the hopes it would be good. When we got our food, the portion size was very good for the price. My wife raved about the freshness and taste, I thought it was okay. The server was okay but seemed rushed. I had to remind her to bring my drink. One time the man at the counter came by to ask how things were. No other interactions besides that. Towards the end of the meal, another person entered and the man at the counter told the person they could order from the counter or from their table. We were not offered the option which then I could see if the tip amount was warranted. Ambiance was okay. A couple of nice quotes painted on the walls, otherwise nondescript but clean. I have had better Persian/Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food elsewhere in the Gables/South Miami, so I cannot say I would go out of my way to go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely incredible!!!!! The food was so good we order it TWICE so could eat it again tomorrow. The staff was wonderful. The place was clean. Food was perfectly warmed. If I could give it 10/5 stars I would. Special thanks for Nic who was a spectacular host.
google avatar

Ifeanyi K.

Yelp
This is my first time at this location. Upon arrival, I liked the layout immediately. Clean layout and an ample amount of seating. Before getting the entree, I got hummus, which was amazing. It was seasoned to perfection...honestly my favorite thing there. The entree I got was a Kabob that was a beef and lamb blend, which I thoroughly enjoyed. They had many different sauces, which were all I amazing. I was sauce'd UP! The service was also great as well. They were very attentive but yet non-invasive... the perfect combination. In all, I'm happy to have good Persian food in Coral Gables now.
google avatar

Shirene T.

Yelp
One of the best Persian fast food/sit down in town! This is the newest opening of Shahs of Kabob (the original one in Sunset), and the amount of selection of Persian/middle eastern food gives you a ubiquitous amount to choose from! I had the chicken joined kabob player with a mix of salad (walnuts, cranberry, cheese), and basmati rice that comes with homemade sauces. I also ordered cucumber yogurt (kind of like tzatziki), and yogurt drink aka dough. The chicken was so tasty, tender and juicy I just wanted more! The owner Amin is amazing and super attentive, just what an owner should be like for his customers. The ambiance is so nicely decorated with Rumi, one of the oldest Persian poets quoted on the walls. You can either sit down, take out or even cater. I'll definitely be back to try some stews, pizzas and other dishes!
google avatar

Blanca M.

Yelp
Stew was good, prices were decent, portions were moderate. New to Persian food and it did not disappoint. However some things to note: they would not give us tap water - they would only sell us bottled water or canned sodas. I couldn't replace my fries with a side salad or anything else. They won't make any accommodations of any kind. The decor was tasteful and understated, with a large Klimt mural as the main artwork.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
The best Persian food in Miami.. hands down. Must try the shrimp, Joojeh, and koobideh. The owner goes above and beyond to make your dinner/lunch feel like an experience.
google avatar

Claudio N.

Yelp
Good Persian/mediterranean food & service that is fairly priced, parking can be challenging.
google avatar

Yasemin S.

Yelp
With 3 locations (South Miami, Doral, and Coral Gables), Shah's has maintained its consistency with the quality of food served, the fresh ingredients used, and the impeccable level of customer service provided to its customers in every single location. Shah's is our go to for any special event such as birthday, holiday, or even a weeknight gathering. It's coral gables location is located right on Ponca de Leon, parking can be found all along the street, or right behind the restaurant. Amin (the owner) can be found at any of the 3 locations always with a huge smile on his face. Part of the Shah's experience is Amin and his amazing team, and eating at Shah's always feels like we're eating right at home.
google avatar

Yelp
Anyone giving Shahs of Kabob less than 5 stars does not have any idea of what real, clean, and delicious food tastes like. Everything was so tender and flavorful. I will definitely be ordering again soon.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. The food is fresh, made from scratch, and absolutely delicious. My hubby had the beef kabob and I had the chicken. Both were tender and cooked to perfection. The sauces were all fun to try. Five stars for sure.

Yelp
Incredible food and service, if you are in the Miami area this is a must. Super friendly staff too! Also they have the best dessert in town!

Yelp
My first and last time in this restaurant. The food absolutely had no flavor. The meat no flavor, rice no flavor and the hummus was like eating one from a supermarket where no effort was done to give it a little flavor. lastly, I ordered one hummus and the cashier lady charged me for two hummus and when the waiter came she said we charged you for two hummus so what we can do if you don't want two hummus we can remove one but failed to offer me a credit for one hummus. mind boggling.
