NYC Chef Franklin Becker Debuts Two Ghost Kitchens in West Philly - Eater Philly

"Israeli-inspired Shai sends out variations of hummus and other Mediterranean dishes and sides. Becker, co-founder of fast-casual chain The Little Beet, taps into his veggie and vegan experience with hummus, falafel, and a chickpea stew and parsley salad at Shai. There’s also spit-roasted chicken shawarma flanked with eggplant, onions, preserved lemons, and pickled raisins. Accompaniments include Middle Eastern sauces and condiments, harissa (hot chili paste), and whipped sesame tahini with extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, salt and lemon juice. Seasonal sides include cumin roasted carrots, grilled beets, and sweet potatoes finished with olive oil, sea salt, and Turkish chile pepper known as urfa biber. All orders come with pita bread made daily." - Tierney Plumb

Shai Hummus

I'll preface this by saying I almost never, ever write reviews but had to share how great my two experiences with Shai have been. I spent a year in Israel in my early twenties and this food really brought me back to those times. Fresh, vibrant flavors that are as good as any israeli food i've had in the philly area recently. Cauliflower, carrots and eggplant dishes were particular standouts for me. Compared to what's out there I also think the prices are quite reasonable. Highly recommend giving this place a shot!

delivery was great! Hummus is okay but the shawarma was delicious and pairs very well with the bread and harissa sauce. Would recommend giving them a shot, they just opened!

Sensational! We ordered 7 items and each one was incredibly delicious. We plan to go back many, many times. Don’t miss out. GREAT food at very reasonable prices.
