Hello Kitty Cafe Truck Back at Atlantic Station | Eater Atlanta

"Joining the market as its thirteenth vendor, I see that Shai-Karr is a Thai street food restaurant that will be one of the offerings inside Marietta Square Market." - Beth McKibben

Google
Ive ordered the Pad Thai, Spicy (Chicken) Fried Rice, and Kamikaze Sushi Roll and have been very happy with my choice in restaurants. Very high quality and interesting, fantastic choices in ingredients. I loved the sweet/spicy profile of the fried rice, plus the basil was such a nice addition. The Pad Thai had mung bean sprouts which I loved, super rich and sweet dish pleasantly supported with minced peanuts. Both dishes had a great portion size, which is awesome. The sushi was so good, very high quality, you wont be able to stop until its gone lol. Great place to eat with great people, 10/10!

Phuong T.

Google
I was disappointed with my experience at Shai Karr Eatery. We ordered the Kamikaze Roll, Rainbow Roll, Choo Choo Train Fried Rice, and Pepper Steak to go, but everything tasted overwhelmingly salty—even the Yum Yum sauce! The flavors were off, and it was not the enjoyable meal we were hoping for. With a better Thai/sushi restaurant just around the corner, I wouldn't recommend this place. It just isn’t worth the price tag for the quality of food you get. Save your money and try somewhere else.

Google
Love this place, if I haven't already posted a review saying the pad Thai is amazing, then here is one for the minced basil chicken! I just tried it and it's super delicious! It comes with rice, basil leaves, red bellpepers, onions, and an egg on top!

Gabe W.

Google
Two different “cashiers.” The older gentleman is super sweet and kind! 5 stars for him.

Jeremy B.

Google
I enjoy most things on this menu, from the Basil Minced Chicken 🤤 to the freshly prepared sushi rolls.

Tiffany A.

Google
Come here pretty regularly because the food is good but the service is way below average. Prices are pretty high. They are closed between 3-4. Got here at 4 no one was here, a few minutes later the cooks showed up and said the cashier wasn’t here yet so they couldn’t do anything. They said 10 more min. so I just walked around and ordered the other stuff I needed expecting them to be back by the time I finished that. It’s going on 4:45 and still no cashier/nobody to help take orders and there are a few people waiting now. Cooks are just standing around, the phone keeps ringing and no one is answering. Ended up placing my order online so the cooks could at least start and I could get my order. Please don’t waste customer’s time and place an accurate return time.

Joi R

Google
I was a regular at this location after today. Rude customer service. Cashier enjoys to be on his phone instead of assisting customers with their already made order which was siting on the counter. Then ignored me when I was standing waiting to retrieve my already made food.

Miranda D

Google
sushi was warm. i dont think i need to say anything else, but i will: the fried rice was also bad. i dont even know how you can mess up fried rice that bad.

Yelp
Grabbed the spicy fried rice with tofu. Wasn't too spicy but the underlying taste was very good. Plenty of vegetables and tofu was cooked just right. A little pricy but dish is big enough for two meals. Would recommend.

Yelp
With so many choices at the Marietta square market, I'm so glad I chose Shai Karr Eatery for my dinner. I ordered the Choo Choo Train fried rice. This comes with chicken and shrimp and a slightly pink rice. My favorite bites included the cooked tomatoes. It was SO good. I also ordered the Tom kha soup. This was very hot when it came out, not spicy but temperature hot. I was too impatient to wait and definitely burned my mouth. It was worth it.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
The food was edible, but one of the most unauthentic Thai I've ever had in the US. First off, the color of my green curry is not right. Too pale and tasted v bland with no curry taste to it. Second of all, the container is odd. I've never seen curry packed in this way. Thirdly, why is there a cucumber in my curry lol? Should've tried something else at the market.

Don D.

Yelp
Coconut soup, chicken, like cardboard, flavorless. Fried rice, shrimp, chicken, flavorless, cardboard, chicken. $30 for sht. 4 time there. Each has been less reason to go but not again. Maybe a bad night!?
google avatar

Cassidy H.

Yelp
Spicy tuna used in almost every roll is off...it doesn't have the right consistency. Almost a grainy texture. Bummed I paid $15 a roll that had this ingredient in both.

Paula Manning M.

Yelp
Nam Sod was very bland. Tasted like dish was sitting in bowl of water with only hot spice added. Absolutely no taste. Worse Nam Sod ever. Also service attendant taking order was not friendly....
google avatar

Keya C.

Yelp
Ordered the Choo Choo Train Fried Rice. It was very delicious. I added some soy sauce and sriracha when I got home. (I like salt lol) No clue why the rice was pink though. Definitely would order it again. I'll be back to try other things on the menu.

Yelp
Shai Karr is a Thai/Sushi/Japanese spot that sits inside of Marietta Square Market that has been serving up some tasty, well priced and decently authentic dishes (and sushi rolls!) for a few years now. Shai Karr is a sister restaurant of one of my favorite sushi spots, Thaicoon which has a couple of locations around the metro area with one being mere blocks away on the square. The menu here is relatively small compared to most Thai/Sushi places and features appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, curry, specialty dishes and of course...sushi rolls! The main parts of the menu are the "Main Dish" and "Sushi Roll" areas. For Main Dishes you can get a variety of curry, fried rice or house specialty such as Pad Thai, Basil Minced Chicken or Teriyaki plate. If sushi is what you are after they have around 16/17 different rolls to choose from including classics such as California, Bagel and Spicy Tuna plus a few house rolls like the FIRE, Kamikaze and Rock N' Roll. We have always grabbed sushi on our stops in and the Rock N' Roll and Bagel Roll are the ones I always get! The Rock N' Roll allows me to get my spicy tuna fix and the Bagel Roll is a deep fried roll...so, definitely a no brainer there! We also get an order of either the Edamame or Spring Rolls to kick things off, as both are solid starts and priced under $5! Shai Karr is one of the few food stalls that has self contained seating, as they offer a few stools at their front counter. If those are full you have the two dining spaces mere feet away, so do not fret! Service has always been solid here as the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. Overall, Shai Karr seems like a little hidden gem inside of Marietta Square Market. I normally don't expect to find a good sushi spot in a fast paced and quick serve style food hall, but Shai Karr changed up the game! Definitely a spot that we hit whenever we visit MSM!

Yelp
Have you been to Thaicoon? Well if you can't get in for some reason. Walk on over to the Marietta Food Hall and check out Shai Karr Eatery by Thaicoon. Shai Karr has an abbreviated menu but full of flavor. Marietta Food Hall has a versatile collection of restaurants inside. There is something for everyone there. If you have a taste for Thai, find your way to Shai Karr. It's owned by same owners of Thaicoon. Shai Karr does not have the same full menu but hits all the high notes. We both got the Choo Choo train fried rice along with spring rolls. The Choo Choo train fried rice comes with chicken and shrimp. It tastes just as good as the fried rice at Thaicoon. The picture shows 3 spring rolls but you get 5. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious. They came with a sweet and sour similar sauce. The food was fresh and still hot when we got home. Food Hall has a parking lot with free and paid parking nearby. It can get crowded depending on the time of day that you go. It's definitely a spot many frequent in the Marietta area.

Yelp
The stir fry veggies were sooooooo flavorful. I asked for them to be spicy and they did not disappoint. Crunchy with the perfect white rice on the side. I'll be back! Yum

Yelp
A decent thai place in marietta square. Limited menu items but they don't disappoint :) Tried the basil fried rice and spring rolls. The spring rolls are on point. Decent fried rice. Huge portions. Fast service and prices arent bad. Overall a decent thai place when visiting Marietta square.

Yelp
Love to try sushi, and this one was great! Slight variations of your standard rolls. I got the Snowflake roll, with side of edamame. The fried cream cheese on top of the roll was interesting, and entire roll was delicious.

Jason H.

Yelp
Awful service. Poured my soup and let it sit out without being under a heat lamp for a full 20 minutes while they were waiting in my sushi to be made. Not sure how they passed a health inspection without a heat lamp.

Yelp
Wow to start off my food came out extremely hot which I love because I know that is was made fresh! This is located inside of Marietta square market. Let's talk about the flavors of the basil minced chicken.... OMGGGGG ITS AMAZING. Literally can't wait to come back next time to get it again. The coconut soup is wonderful too. My boyfriend got the fried rice and it was tasty as well. My family will definitely be returning for these flavors.

Yelp
Shai Karr Eatery is a Thai food and sushi stall located inside Marietta Square Market. It's by the same folks who run nearby Thaicoon & Sushi Bar at Marietta Square. We stopped by Shai Karr for a quick weekday lunch and were impressed with the food. It was really good. In Thai, "shai karr" refers to the roof on the side of a house that covers a patio where people cook and eat. Shai Karr Eatery opened at the same time Marietta Square Market opened in March 2019. If you've ever been to Thaicoon, Shai Karr is pretty much the food hall equivalent with an abbreviated menu and some different dishes. At the register, it's a little awkward ordering from the three-screen overhead menu because a wooden pole blocks your view of part of the menu. On the Thai side, Shai Karr serves apps like "Railroad Chicken" ($7.95 street-style chicken skewers), soups like tom kha with chicken ($4.50 coconut soup), Thai salads such as chicken larb ($8.95 minced chicken with fish sauce, lime juice, and more; one of my favorites growing up) and nam-tok salad ($11.95, made with sirloin), and entrees from house fried rice ($10.95) to pad Thai noodles ($12.50). On the Japanese side, they have salads ($3.50-10.95 each) and sushi rolls ($4.50-12.95 each). There's no nigiri or anything like that, just the simple Americanized stuff. We ordered the nam sod salad ($8.95) and the Shai Karr curry ($12.50). Both dishes were excellent and I highly recommend them. Nam sod salad is typically made with pork, but here it's made with chicken. Still good. Shai Karr's version includes minced chicken, red onion, scallion, ginger, cilantro, lettuce, Thai bird's eye chili peppers, crushed peanuts, fish sauce, and lime juice. Also included were a few butter lettuce leaves and a sprig of cilantro. This was an outstanding dish served at room temperature. It reminded me a lot of chicken larb. The chicken was minced finely, tender and lean, and it was packed with flavor. The flavors were salty, savory, zingy, and zesty. There was lots of umami. My mouth waters just thinking about it. The Shai Karr curry is a house specialty and I'm not sure if I've had the same curry anywhere else. The menu described it as "similar to red curry combined with panang curry" and it was certainly similar to both: sweet, creamy, rich, strong in flavor, and spicy too. It had an addictive taste to it and it was wonderful with white rice. I could've keep eating and eating this curry non-stop. Its consistency was fairly thin/soupy, even for a Thai curry which is more "watery" than Indian curry. We chose chicken as the protein for our curry, but you can also choose tofu, beef, or shrimp. Other ingredients included sliced carrots and red bell pepper and even kale. Yep, kale in a Thai dish, and it worked well. Along with rice, the curry came with a side of kale salad with shredded carrot, red cabbage, and sliced grape tomatoes. A spring roll was an option in lieu of kale salad. Our two entrees were accompanied with a box of white rice. Overall, ingredient quality was great and portion sizes were reasonable. Everything was served in disposable containers. Despite this, presentation was good. Service by cashier Mick was good too. Shai Karr uses the Clover POS system; Apple and Google Pay are accepted and your itemized receipts are available online. Shai Karr has six stools at the bar and there's plenty of communal seating in the market's large dining room. A mixture of free and pay parking lots surround the market. I like to park for free in the Mill St Lot at the corner of Mill St and North Marietta Pkwy. If I can't find parking there, I just park for free on Church St (one-way) and walk over.

Yelp
We did a Sunday lunch at the market place and had a few things at different places. We got the Snowflake roll, and it was really good. It was super meaty which is hard to find these days. And it had fried cream cheese on top which was amazing!! I mean fried cream cheese? Game changer!
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Found a new spot to enjoy my fav addiction. This spot has some delicious spicy Thai chicken fried rice . It's sooo good and I also gave the JB roll a try. The JB roll has cream cheese and it resembles the California roll. There's a lot of different fried rice options to select from and plenty of sushi rolls to select from. Can't go wrong with grabbing lunch or dinner from this spot. A great addition to Marietta Square Market.
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the sushi here. It seems to be really fresh! Their spicy tuna roll is not the same as you would find in a regular sushi restaurant. It's made with a sweet chili sauce instead of sriracha and Mayo. $15 did seem a little steep for the curry, but it was really good. I enjoyed the addition of kale which I don't see much in Asian cooking.
google avatar

Angela T.

Yelp
I love their food. It's always fresh and authentic, but I've noticed the spicy veggie fried rice is coming in smaller containers now. Interesting, but it may not be worth the amount because it's rices and vegetables

Jonathon W.

Yelp
Love this food stall at the food court! Papaya salad and Shai Karr curry are our go-to order.

Jacob A.

Yelp
Food is delicious!! I ate a little bit of everything sushi , rice noodles . Prices are reasonable and you also get good size food portions. I had lots to take home . Service is great and they help out with parking , first 2 hours is free and it's really easy to log in and enter the info etc .. ambiance very trendy it's inside Marietta square market so lots to chose from . This reminds me of Grand central market in Los Angeles or the Ponce de Leon place in Atlanta . . Highly recommend also if you have a pet they do have an outdoor patio with a canopy. For all natives to GA I'm sure the humidity won't bother you for me it was a bit too hot so I ate inside .

Ashik J.

Yelp
The thai food is solid. The sushi not so much. Don't be a master of none. Stick to the good stuff.
google avatar

Bryan H.

Yelp
It took forever to get our food and the person taking orders and working the register was more concerned about his phone.

Yelp
I love Thai food... it's my favorite! I have found that usually, Thai food spots are great at noodles, or curries or soups. Even my favorite spot in Tallahassee doesn't excel at ALL 3! BUT, what a surprise this Shai Karr Eatery turned out to be! I went on Saturday, and then came back on Sunday with my family so we could try more things on the menu... here's what we got over these past 2 days 1. Choo Choo Fried rice - First, it's pink rice, once I got past the color, I realized it was the best fried rice I'd ever had... not an over exaggeration! It was amazing. It came with a spring roll, and holy cow! That itself was mind blowing. The clear sauce that comes with it, that you think won't be anything special, turns out to be the ticket! 2. Spring Rolls - Get them. Period. Get an extra order, give them to your friends. They will love you. Dip them in the clear sweety/tangy sauce! EPIC 3. Tom Kha Coconut chicken soup - Very mild in spice but full of flavor! The teeny mushrooms, which I usually pick out of Tom Kha soup, were not only adorable, but added a nice flavor to the soup. It was rich and creamy, with a slight lemongrass tang. Perfection in a soup! 4. Shai Karr Curry - Very rich, slightly sweet (like a panang curry) - It included Kale, which I've never had in a curry, but it was just the right addition! I ordered it with beef, and it was flavorful and fresh. I ordered it mild also, and it was SPICY! I know curry, by it's very nature is hot, but this was too hot for me. Though the flavor is amazing, I probably wouldn't try it again, unless they assured me they could make it more mild because if it were more mild, I would say it would be my favorite. 5. California roll - Basic sushi? Yes and no... It was SO fresh and the rice wasn't too tangy, which is an issue I find with these small Thai places. My 14 year old and I were shocked at how much better it was than a typical California roll because the ingredients were the exact same in every california roll. It was good y'all! 6. Shrimp Tempura roll - Our eyes literally rolled back in our heads. Not only was it great for all of the reasons the California roll was delicious, they added extra 'crunchies' to the roll, which was exactly what most shrimp tempura rolls were missing, and we didn't even know it was missing, lol. The eel sauce was perfect and the roe on the outside was the best little pop. SO good! So, if you haven't guessed yet, this place rocks! I would recommend it to anyone who loves Thai food and/or sushi. I want to go back and try one of everything else on the menu. Unfortunately, I live 5 hours away, but this place is a must go every time we are in town!
google avatar

Lesly C.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now! Its so delicious, I personally go for the railroad chicken woth sticky white rice. my boyfriend loves the sushi here. In fact its his only favorite sushi spot. The prices are quite fair. I recommend this place.
google avatar

Bob J.

Yelp
This is a cool Japanese restaurant! The kids meals come with a lot of food! The crab in the kids meal was not the best, but the fries and California Roll made up for it. The cashier was very friendly. This is a great place for lunch!

Win B.

Yelp
Best thai food. Recommend to come . Good price and authentic. Good service and very quick with a lot of options in the menu
google avatar

V S.

Yelp
This is probably the place I eat at the most when I stop by the Marietta Market! It is (relatively) inexpensive, the food is good + portioned nicely, and they have a pretty large menu for such a tiny location. I usually get the Teriyaki Tofu dish with some kind of veggie roll, and I always have enough for leftovers!
google avatar

Jazmine C.

Yelp
Hidden Gem ! Ordered from uber eats and the food was sooo good. Green curry was perfect. Great portion size, great packaging, they even honored my spice request. Will definitely order again soon.
google avatar

Meika J.

Yelp
I never eat at the Market without stopping here to at least get an appetizer. My favs are the Thai style wings! So good. I also love the coconut soup, the spring rolls, and the Fire Roll is my kid's favorite. This spot is consistently good and the customer service and always good too. If you're vegetarian a good option to try is the Shai Kai Curry with tofu.
google avatar

Edna B.

Yelp
Garlic fries were bomb but my fried rice was gummy and somewhat mushy. Overall good taste over basic Asian cuisine. I would recommend for someone already in the area and wanting Thai food, I would not recommend the fried rice.
google avatar

J D.

Yelp
There are a lot of places to get pad thai... but this place is a notch above, wow. Made right in front of you, doesn't hold back on the heat or you ask for spicy... every thing very fresh. Shrimp is juicy and large jumbos. One of if not the best tasting pad Thai I've had in Atlanta.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
What a great place to eat. A wide variety to from. The service is fantastic. My favorites are the Shai Karr curry, and the Railroad chicken skewers. Both are extremely flavorful and well done. A must try are the Shai Karr fries. They are Amazing.
google avatar

Nita G.

Yelp
I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and give something new a try. I got the cucumber/avocado roll, spring rolls and papaya salad. I don't eat meat so my choices were limited which is why I gave 3 stars and not lower. The sushi was blah. I expected some seasame seeds, some carrots, some crunch. I literally received avocado/cucumber on a roll. It was basic. Why not just get this from publix. The spring rolls were good and generously portioned. The papaya salad was really good, but I have a hard time recommending it because it was not a straight forward thing. I was thinking where is the papaya? I enjoyed the crunch and the spice. Nothing I tasted today would ever make me excited enough to go back there especially with so many delicious options close by. It is something to consider for resturants in our day in time where people would stand in line for hours for good food. You really only get one chance to wow people and win them over.
google avatar

Cathy H.

Yelp
The seaweed salad is very fresh, the noodle green curry is absolutely delicious (I chose fried tofu with my dish).
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
Shai Karr is amazing! I am gluten free and their staff goes above and beyond each time to make sure I eat safely. Plus, the food is amazing and the portions are huge. Food comes out quickly, too!
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
The bagel roll is amazing. It's definitely not for the sushi purist, which is why I love it. It's fried with plenty of cream cheese and the salmon is cooked. Their spicy mayo is delicious as well.

Lori S.

Yelp
Ordered through their app. It said ready at a time and when I got there they said it would be much later than I expected and wouldn't refund me. My whole family was finished eating and I was still waiting for my order. If you're hungry, don't order here!

Haley S.

Yelp
Great mix of Asian cuisine lots of options. We normally get take out packaging is reliable and stays warm. My family really like the Shia Jarr Curry, Chicken Basil, just about all of the sushi rolls, and they are always friendly.

Meneza T.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. It was my first time trying it and was pretty satisfied. I love Thai food and I've eaten at other restaurants but this is by far the number 2 on my list next to Surin in Atlanta. I had pad Thai l, spring rolls and an order of California rolls.

Mitten A.

Yelp
Amazing food. The freshest delivery I've ever ordered. Everything tasted like it was just brought to our table from the kitchen. I'm shocked I've never heard of this place before today but I'll be sure to start spreading the word.
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
You have to try to "Weeping Tiger" steak! Incredibly fresh! Also, the sushi is amazing. We loved the salmon roll and salmon/avocado roll!! Best Thai food in Marietta!

Haley A.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Marietta. We love the Choo Choo Train Fried Rice and Pad Thai!!!! Great portion sizes and very fresh!

Jansen J.

Yelp
My husband and I always go to the same places at the market. Today we said we were going to try something new and this place did not disappoint. Coming from California I'm super picky about sushi and this was some of the best I've had in Georgia! Can't wait to go back:)

Reana W.

Yelp
i'm not one to ever leave a review or complain but i souly downloaded yelp again just to leave a review. the people were nice but i waited 40 mins for a sushi roll... only to get in my car and start eating it and then find a bug crawling around on my food:)... i was already in a rush but i guess the good thing was i wasn't hungry anymore after that.
