The food was fresh and great! Catfish on point. Sweet potatoes was a 10. I prefer white cheddar over regular Mac and cheese. Jerk chicken egg rolls are good but need a dipping sauce. They ran out of jerk sauce. I guess that's a good sign. The fruit punch was good. I'll definitely return to try more menu items. Service was great. Thanks guys.

Myself and 2 family members visited this spot yesterday. Neither of us ever heard of this restaurant. When I tell you we felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in until we left out. The atmosphere was so relaxing, food seasoned well and 1 of tre owners was so friendly and made she we were happy with everything. P.S. the prices were very reasonable. Check them out you will not be disappointed.

I recently visited your establishment on 6/22/25 with my wife and wanted to share our experience. We were seated at table 8 but, unfortunately, after waiting for about 20 minutes, no one approached us to take our order, offer water, or provide basic table settings like napkins or utensils. Feeling overlooked, we eventually decided to leave. I genuinely appreciate and support black-owned businesses, which is why this was particularly disappointing. I hope you can address this issue to improve the customer experience for future patrons. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I recently visited this restaurant twice, hoping to support a Black-owned business in the community. Unfortunately, both visits left me disappointed. I wanted to try their fried shrimp on my first visit, but they were out of it. I decided to give them another chance and returned a second time, arriving 10 minutes before they opened at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday. When they finally opened, I tried ordering their jerk chicken egg rolls, only to be told that they weren’t available that day either. It’s frustrating to see such inconsistency and lack of preparation, primarily when the business relies on community support. Sadly, I won’t be back. I hope they can improve their availability and customer service in the future.

Place is nice food is good although I’ve only tried their pasta last time I went for a pick up order the girl right away addressed me said give me a moment I’ll be right with you while she finished with her other customer. This time nothing I stood there for 5 minutes and nothing that’s when i stepped in and said I’m here for a pick up for Miriam while she was with a customer my bad for that but she rolled her eyes and said give me a min .Then after that I was on the side waiting she took care of someone who walked up like huh you saw me there.I did an online order their system is down I get it I showed her my order she looked at it once took her time then went back and asked for my order one more time took her sweet time writing things down which I get but why not do it the 1st time. Then says they don’t have it bc of the system said it would take 15-20 minutes I said I can’t wait I have a break of 30 minutes already waited enough and her response is just cancel it on the website I go on the website and it doesn’t. Allow me to do now I have to dispute it like what overall place is good but that cashier needs to be trained better with customer service rude and very slow to work in a restaurant bring back the other girls

The food was great. I took my pops here for his 90th bornday along with auntie. I had not seen pops eat as fast as he did in many many years. He has issues with chewing his food but he said he did not have a problem with chewing his food at Shake A Leg. We all ordered the catfish dinner and it was so delicious to us all. The fish and the cabbage was awesome. The rice we had which I think was a cajun flavor was not to pleasing to pops but was okay for me but not a side dish I would get again on my next visit. I have tried visiting several other days but the place had been closed a few days in the same week. Now that's my only issue!

Yelp
A friend sent a video to me that was highlighting five Black-owned restaurants in Chicago. I had gone to one of them and loved their food and service. Seeing that Shake A Leg was not that far from where I live, I decided to drop in to check them out. I ordered catfish with sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I give them high marks for the catfish. It was nicely seasoned and breaded enough to give a crust but not too much that it took away from the meatiness of the fish. Big ups on the crisp to the crust. The sides were perfect, which again I say they deserve high marks. The highlight dish for me was the Cajun pasta that I ordered with shrimp. This reminded me of the same that I enjoyed in Louisiana. There was the right amount of sauce so that the pasta was not drowning in it. The seasoning was neither salty nor overpowering nor all over the place. Plenty room for seating and spread out enough that people are not all on top of each other. I got there early, so it had not packed out as I'm sure it does later in the day. For nights that I don't want to cook, they may get my dollars. The food was certainly worth it.

Yelp
The service was great! It's a nice BOB on the West Side with space to have an event. Some of the best strings beans I've ever had! Lbvs! The catfish was great as well! I personally like how they bring the food out in to-go containers. Makes it easier to pack up your left overs. On the street parking so keep that in mind when you're going. Parking availability will depend on the time of day.

Yelp
The food was average. I've had better. But aside from the food they had poor customer service. First of all you have to go to the counter to order and pay for your food and wait for the food to be brought out to you. I had to remind the waitress that I hadn't received. We sat there watching ppl come and go getting their food. Then we had to ask when was our food was coming out because we had order our food an hour ago. The waitress we talk to about our food was giving attitude and that's when the manager Nya came over and apologized for the wait and for the waitress' attitude. She offer us complimentary entrees. Nya handle the situation with grace and class but I won't be back.
