"Mineta-San Jose International Airport might fly under the radar of San Francisco-based travelers, but three new attention-grabbing businesses could change that: Shake Shack, Chick-Fil-A, and an offshoot of Emeryville-based tiki bar and restaurant Trader Vic’s." - Caleb Pershan

This is fast food, so it’s 4 stars as it pertains to fast food. The service and ambiance was great. The food is decent with non beef or vegetarian/vegan options. It’s easy on the pocketbook and comparable in price for a quick meal. I ate the Korean BBQ burger and substituted the veggie patty.

If you want to swallow grease this place is for you. My first time trying shake shack wasn’t the best experience and tried to give it another chance sadly nothing changed.For the price of everything doesn’t seem to be worth it. The nuggets were oil infused yes it’s reasonable but they had extreme amounts. The food is too salty and the burger size let’s not go there.On the other hand the atmosphere is amazing outside shake shack.

came here on my lunch, ordered the white truffle mushroom burger, with the white truffle parmesan fries. Placed my order on the tablet, it was quick with little wait. After placing my order, it took about 10min for it to come out, everything was hot and crispy. It was a good portion, awesome flavors. If your shopping at bay street just order ahead, and it will be ready by the time you walk up to the shop.

Food was filling and delicious, the shroom burger was super crispy and good and the cheese fries were amazing!

Self Serve Ordering option. They have three small screens you can walk up to and order yourself for take out or dine in. Dine in would mean you find a seat on the patio. You can also walk up and place an order. Fast and friendly service. No general complaints. Good burgers, fries were light and crispy. My favourite kind.

The food was phenomenal. The service was high calibrate. Even brought a treat for a puppy. And they had a live dj playing in the eating area. Definitely recommend. I have a full tummy and a big smile . Yummy. All with a view of the ocean . =^..^=

We had the vegetarian shake burger and it was a real hard choice to make because I typically like bacon burgers but to save an animal's life. We went ahead and chose the vegetarian burger and boy are we glad we did. It was absolutely amazing. My fiance said it was possibly the best hamburger she's ever had let alone best vegetarian burger. We got the Korean french fries with the Korean sauce and it was so fantastic. A great meal but an experience. Plus business all the sauces were free saving us some money and we talked it off with the cookies and cream shake and again they knocked it out of the park.

So I order my food at a mobile kiosk thing and wait 15 minutes. That's all fine. I get my food but my drink is wrong (Strawberry Lemonade), so I go ask and they say they're out of Strawberry Lemonade, which is why they gave me normal lemonade. The women next to me at the counter was asking the same exact question. So i'm offered if I want a different drink, and the only other lemonade they have is the Dragonfruit one. So I get that. I end up with 2 lemonades. The dragonfruit one is okay, but it has so much sugar it physically hurts to drink. The normal lemonade is VERY bad and also hurts to drink, so when I got home I dumped the entire normal lemonade and the 2nd half of the Dragonfruit one. As for the burger, it was bad. I ordered Shake Shack sauce on the side and did not get it, and the burger literally tasted like Mcdonald's. This place sucks and isn't worth your time, there are other places to eat at Baystreet (or, even better, anywhere else).

Yelp
It's a nice little location to grab food. There is ample seating outside. My bf got the Shack Stack and I got the Chicken Stack. We shared the fries, and Peach and Cream Shake. The Shack Stack was absolutely delicious! I loved the oozing cheese from the fried mushroom. The Chicken Stack was also pretty good. The chicken was juicy with a nice crunch. Fries were crispy. The drink was a great dessert lol The food is on the pricier side but if you want some good burger around this area, this is the place to go!

Yelp
The Shake Shack empire just keeps growing and growing thanks to their second of three locations in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. Located in the Bay Street Shopping Center in Emeryville, California, this Shake Shack location opened in the spring of 2023 and has been a successful location in their portfolio. Shake Shack represents a rebirth of the Bay Street Shopping Center second-level food court area, which thanks to a multi-million dollar investment has now been rechristened the Bay Break Dining Terrace, and is now a shared dining area with lawn games, fireplaces, flat-panel television screens playing sports, along with some great view of the bay. With this remodel, the new owners managed to attract the Shake Shack corporation to open a location here in Emeryville directly in front of the stairwell that leads to the street level, which had been vacant for over a decade. Ironically, this spot has now become the busiest spot on the entire second floor as both the marketing and food production teams at Shake Shack certainly know how to keep their loyal fans back for more. What brought me here on a recent visit was the fact that Shake Shack was promoting a free chicken sandwich to be enjoyed all day on Sundays for the month of April. I'm always down for a good deal and with a free chicken sandwich on a Sunday with any purchase over 10 dollars is something that finally made me make my return for the first time since they opened a full year ago. The team at Shake Shack is so good at marketing that when they first opened they made sure members of the local community got to sample their menu which gave their staff the opportunity to work out any kinks. With this generous offer we ordered their special White Truffle Burger which was topped with crispy sweet onions and fontina cheese; their SmokeShack Burgers which were cheeseburgers topped with cherry peppers, applewood-smoked bacon and ShackSauce; order of their crinkle cut fries; and of course their signature milk shakes. It was a memorable meal thanks to the amount of food that was provided and the overall quality of service as their team is quick and efficient, as customers can order via their kiosk or their counter from a representative and then they text your smartphone when your order is ready for pickup. What would bring us back on a most recent visit was the fact that Shake Shack was promoting their Chicken Shack sandwiches in which every Sunday during the month of April, with every purchase over ten dollars you can receive a complimentary Chicken Shack. Some have seen this as a dig at a competitor which is known for their chicken sandwiches and does not open on Sundays ever, but as long as the process for ordering is as easy as it is at Shake Shack, and the fact they have a promotion on what is arguably one of their busier days of the week, I am more than willing to take advantage of this deal. When I arrived on Sunday afternoon, it was so good to see the place thriving, with a number of diner enjoying their meals outside on the terrace. Making my order on their website was super easy to do, and technically you don't even have to log in as a member as long as you pay for your purchase upon ordering. Once you order more than ten dollars in your cart and then add in their Chicken Shack, you type in the code that they give you in the email and it automatically subtracts the full price of your Chicken Shack sandwich from your bill. This visit, we decided to do a buy one get one deal with two Chicken Shacks for the price of one, and we ordered their limited time only Frozen Hot Cocoa Shake to accompany our meal. Their Chicken Shack with its crispy, white-meat chicken breast served over lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo on a toasted potato bun was a nice alternative to the traditional burger that they sell here but I have to admit it was the chicken patty that was lacking size to match the totality of the bun, but at the very least the flavor was there. I probably would only order it again if this promotion were still available. The shakes really are the star at Shake Shack as it was a thick malty treat that is sweet with every sip. My total bill was 18 dollars with tax included, with two chicken sandwiches and one shake is a decently priced meal, but without that free sandwich deal, return visits seem less likely as prices are higher than ever. Still I'm very happy that Shake Shack has called Bay Street in Emeryville their newest home, as residents of the East Bay deserve this option just like the citizens across the bay in the city. May their success continue with more deals for their loyal customers which no doubt will lead to additional locations throughout the Bay Area for all to enjoy!

Yelp
This is a review about the Korean BBQ burger and a shake. The Korean bbq burger had so many onions and soy sauce in it that it overpowered the taste of the milk-- felt somewhat like puking after. However, the fries are great and I liked the tiny fry bits in the burger but there was barely any veggies in it for that price point. I paid around $20 for these three items which was insane given the portion sizes. Other notes: no restroom in the restaurant, and water is provided. The outside seating area is nice.

Reeven S.

Yelp
Shake Shack is quite disappointing due to the overpricing of their burgers. Their burgers are priced at more than $5, even for a normal cheeseburger, and it's definitely not worth it considering their very small size. I can say that their burgers were juicy and tasty, but I can definitely get a better deal at a different burger shop. Their cheese fries are also not worth it as there's nothing too special about them. This particular location in Emeryville has no indoor seating. If you want to dine-in, there is outdoor seating shared by other nearby restaurants. This outdoor seating arrangement would be perfect for spring or summer weather; however, the winter weather can be quite punishing. There were not enough heated lamps to satisfy the number of seats available.

Yelp
I tried shake shack for the first time with the Oakland location and I wasn't the biggest fan. I thought I'd try again at this location and I'm still not the biggest fan. It was my birthday weekend and I was doing some shopping at Bay Street and decided to go to shake shack for lunch since chick fil a is closed on Sundays. My brother and I ordered the chicken bites, chicken sandwich, two order of fries, a strawberry and a Oreo milkshake, our total came out to be $38.72, which I think is pretty expensive. This had to be the saddest chicken sandwich I had in my life and it's probably my fault for getting one at a burger place but in my defensive I didn't like the burger the first time I had it and I was craving chick fil a . The chicken bites were crispy on the outside but super soft on the inside which I didn't like. My Oreo shake didn't taste like an Oreo shake, I couldn't even tell you what it was supposed to taste like. I think the best thing that came out of this meal were the $4 fries. I did an online order and selected for condiments and napkins to be included, chicken bites were suppose to include our sauce of choice (which was the shake sauce), and I also asked for sauce on the side for my sandwich but none of these were included in the bag.

Yelp
I thought the chicken sandwich was pretty tasty. I liked the pickles that were on it. The chicken was thick and juicy. The fries weren't even warm., thoug. h What's up with that?

Yelp
Sigh. I love Shake Shack. As a east coast transplant, I have fond memories of eating the Shack after school. It was affordable and yummy and me and my friends used to linger for a long time to talk or play games. This ain't the Shack of my memories though. First, the price. Over $7 for a single-stack cheeseburger? Over $9 for the Korean BBQ chicken? How are kids these days supposed to afford this? It might be affordable if it was a huge burger but it wasn't. The meat was tasty and flavorful but it was tiny. The Korean BBQ Chicken was a HUGE disappointment. I think who ever came up with this is forever disowned from Korean-ness and even Asian-ness. It was a sweet and bland, not very flavorfully chicken bleh. I've never been so disappointed in "Korean" food. Ugh. Straight to food jail for you! The Korean chicken nuggets were strangely better. They were yummy. And the fries were like I remembered them -- albeit twice the price and 3/4 the size. No eating inside but that's ok. There's heat lamps outside. But there's none of that Shake Shack ambience. Boo. Two stars for the food. Two stars for no ambience. The only good thing is that Bay Street is now hopping which is nice, I was worried the whole mall was going to go out of business which would have sucked for us Emeryville-adjacent folks.

Yelp
Quick Summary: - Order can be done via QR code or with a kiosk - Food is good; the wait is super long The Emeryville Shopping mall's second floor is lively with different restaurants, and Shake Shack is one of them. I haven't tried Shake Shack before, so this is my first time actually. We went there at a busy lunch hour, so the line was out the door. There were a mix of people ordering in the line via the QR code method, others who ordered and are waiting for their food, and ones like us who waited to go inside and use the kiosk machines. That day, I was looking for a light snack because i wasn't hungry yet. I got chicken tender and two different types of fries. One of the fries we opted for spicy cheese fries. I'll begin with the food because that was a positive. We loved the chicken tender. The outside was so crispy and the inside was juicy. I have tried different types of chicken tenders, but this was the first I came across one with a crispy outer shell, that is not overly salty. I would come back here again to eat this. Nothing special to add with the fries. One of the fry trays with cheese tasted better ultimately because it was warmer. The other one, with just fries, arrived cold. A large complaint I have at this Shake Shack branch was the waiting time for the order. When there is a wave of orders from kiosks and the other coming from QE codes and apps, the preparation priority is not in the order that I was hoping. For just chicken tenders and fries, I waited nearly 30 minutes. This makes sense why the plain fries were cold when we arrived. While the chicken tenders were delicious and piping hot, I wonder what would have been like if we ordered the burgers.

Yelp
We came here for a bite to eat after catching a movie at the AMC nearby. There was a line, but not insanely long as tends to be the case at Shake Shack on a weekend, so we decided to dine here. Ordering can only be done at one of the 3 self-service kiosks, so card is the only viable payment option. It takes a bit for your order to be prepared, so expect about a 15-20min wait time afterwards. When we came yesterday, the self-service water fountain was out of order, so you'll need to ask for water from the staff. The employees are pretty friendly though, and respond quickly to requests. We ordered an avocado bacon burger, a ShackBurger, fries, and a mango passionade. I felt the mango passionade was pretty refreshing, but could have done with significantly more mango and passionfruit flavor. The ShackBurger is essentially a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, so was as expected. And while still good, the avocado bacon burger only consisted of 1 strip of bacon, and 1 tiny slice of avocado. Although tasty, both patties were served in pieces rather than a whole, round patty. The food, while enjoyable, felt very overpriced for what we received. Bay St has done an amazing job renovating this entire strip mall, and there are now plenty of excellent outdoor seating options to choose from after grabbing food at any of the available eateries. There are no indoor seating options available however at this particular Shake Shack location.

Yelp
Two words: overpriced & mediocre. I've eaten at several Shake Shacks and this is by far the worst one ever. Everything is a la carte, they don't have grilled onions and the burger is small and subpar. For two burgers, two fries and two small drinks, the total was $41.02! That's wild. Recommendation: Skip this and find something else.

Ronesha J.

Yelp
Service was quick-they have kiosk available for quick ordering. The location is amazing and there is lots of outdoor seating! The portion sizes are way too small for the price but otherwise it was a good experience. The food was hot, fresh and made just as ordered.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Ok, ok, shake shack is shake shack and I've been to many before. So this review is not really about the food. The food is always pretty solid and I don't have any complaints about the food that I got here - it's pretty standard shake shack food. However, the rest of the experience was pretty lackluster. I stopped by on a late Thursday evening to pick up a quick dinner on the go. The takeout-only restaurant was empty so I almost thought it was closed, but I was able to open the door so I went in. Immediately upon entering, it smelled like wet mop - just... musty and not great. I ordered from the kiosk without a problem and was going to wait in there to get but that smell was kinda gross so I just waited outside. Now, I don't believe that customer service professionals need to be super chipper or happy when I go to an establishment. I get it - customer service jobs are hard and at the very end of the day, it's not really the vibe to be super perky. But the service overall here, was just dry. No one greets you or asks if you need assistance and when my food was ready, they said my name and kinda just left the order at the counter. So strange to have that minimal of customer service. Anyways, might've been an off night, but that experience could've been better.

Casey S.

Yelp
I don't get the hype with Shake Shack - it's trying to be fast casual, but it doesn't have the quality to match. While it's nice to have toppings like avocado, the smash burger was way too salty and burnt, while the bacon was undercooked. Service is slow (and swamped), and the prices are far too high for what you get. Note that there's little room to manuever inside - you need to eat outdoors.

Cara H.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Price: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 TL;DR: A relatively new addition to Bay Street. The line was pretty long on a sunday night. Service was fast and the food came out within 10-15 minutes. Ambiance was busy, but not overly crowded. I would return if I am craving a shake. Chicken Shack: 4/5; a solid chicken sandwich. The amount of chicken is very good. A bit more expensive than other fast food restaurants, but very good. Cookies and Cream Shake: 4/5; Thick, creamy and delicious. Satisfies any ice cream craving you may have. The shake was not too thick, so it was still drinkable through a straw. There are small cookie chunks in the shake as well. The restaurant was neat, clean and organized. There are three kiosks in the front to order from, as well as one person at the cash register.

Yelp
I came back in EV for a work trip and I wanted to see if the quality, taste and flavor was worth of another visit. I'm happy say after a three month gap this location still knows how to make a tasty burger-pulp fiction movie reference. You would get it if you saw the movie. I've been to several locations in NYC where I first discovered shake shack so the decision to come here was a no brainer. The cheeseburger was cooked just right with the right amount of sauce and seasoning. Fresh bun and lettuce and tomato. The turnaround was within 8 minutes so service gets 5-stars. Depth of menu:5/5-I like the variety of drinks and shakes. It was pride month so they had shakes to accommodate pride month. Flavor:5/5 Cleanliness:5/5 Returning factor:5/5 Good for groups:5/5-get tables outside and bring your jacket.

Joe R.

Yelp
I love the Shake shack it's convenient the location of 30 minute free parking, was easy to get in and out of. It taste better than the ones in San Francisco for some reason and they really do a good job. The fries stayed hot and tasty as we drove them home and the burger was excellent. I got the avocado Burger and I have to say it's my new favorite shake shack burger!

Jean L.

Yelp
I'm new to trying Shake Shack and only heard of them within the last 2 years. It was a pleasant surprise that Shake Shack opened at Bay Street. The day of my visit was a few weeks ago during the grand opening, I've never been to any grand openings, and was surprised at how few people showed up. Regardless, I still enjoyed the experience. There are 3 self-service kiosks to place your order and 1-2 registers with staff. The space inside the actual shop is rather small so waiting for your food was slightly awkward. Since there's no space for dining, you can just grab your food and sit outside in the open space where there are ample picnic tables. There are also lots of space heaters outside to keep warm. I ordered the Shack Burger, which is their signature burger and it was definitely tasty and as expected. I also ordered fries and that was also as expected. When comparing with its competitors, it's hard to say which is better because they're different in my eyes. During the grand opening day, they had a full staff and I received my food very quickly. Service was great all around, the franchise owner and manager said hello to all their guests. I'll see you again soon Shake Shack. #12/2023

Yelp
One of the slower locations so plan accordingly. Ordered 1 double shack burger. Ordered 6:49pm, got my order 7:01pm. 12 minutes for 1 burger with all this staff here pictured....no excuse for that imo. At one point there was literally no one ordering and no one waiting for food, so I was thinking uhhh where's my food? So so slow, but just plan that to be the case. Order your meal, then go outside and walk to Barnes & Noble for 15 min for example, then come back and it'll be ready. Hopefully.

Ranjan S.

Yelp
Solid burger, but I'd opt for a lettuce wrap over the gluten-free bun (though I appreciate the option!). This location is nice and new and has a lot of outdoor seating thanks to the Bay Street refresh. I had the ShackBurger on a gluten free bun. The burger itself tasted good, worth the price. The bun tasted fine, but it had a weird, crumbly texture that I didn't like. The fries were not very good. They were dry through the center (and these are thick fries, so they've got a lot of center!), but otherwise we're salted well enough. They have a few options for sauces, but sadly ranch is not one of them.

Yelp
Just wanted to give a shout out to all the staff working last night. I came in 5 min before they were closing, which I normally would never do because.. that's the worst. But my friend's car was hit by a driver under the influence and we had been dealing with cops, tow trucks, insurance etc for hours and needed food. Dixie was super kind and let me put the order in even though it meant the kitchen had to stay open past closing. They ran out of fries for my order (because they were closed) and though I offered to just skip them, they kindly made a whole new batch anyways. I know it's the worst when people come in right before closing after a long shift, but I so appreciated it and my friend was very happy to get some much needed tasty food after the ordeal. So thank you all so much!

Katrina F.

Yelp
Excited for this place to finally be open! This was my friends and i's first time visiting this spot as it recently had its soft-grand opening earlier this week. We received complimentary meals drinks included from Daley, Regional Marketing Manager due to RSVP sign up for the soft-grand opening event. There was no line to order when we arrived for our time slot of 7:30pm. Daley explained how to order and to bare with the team as it is most staffs first official time working since training so they are still learning the ropes. After being let inside, there was staff ready to assist us to comp our meal after ordering on the kiosk. There was a long wait for our meals about 30min but no complaints as it was free! However, one of my friends requested no bacon on their bacon avocado burger and received it with bacon. The other requested to add bacon to their burger and it didn't come with bacon on it. We all ordered malted shakes and they all came out watery. We're aware that staff were having issues back and forth offering some flavors Vs the others that weren't available which fluctuated between when I ordered and my friends (10min after us). It was explained that they make their custard homemade in-house which takes time and they were behind. Although we all ended of getting shake flavors we didn't want due to whatever was available, it still came out watery and not thick at all; almost like it was melted down. I loved my truffle shroom burger and the truffle fries which came with a white truffle dipping sauce that was divine. They were unable to do double Pattie's at this time due to the promotion, unfortunately. However, I hope their staff will get better training and have staff that can keep up with the orders. In addition to items being out of stock due to them not prepping enough supply, we saw 30+ drinks sitting on the counter ready to go without the accompanying food ready which is probably why our food came out lukewarm and our drinks came out watered down. Might be back to give it another try but due to customer service wasn't too impressed this time around.

Naomi J.

Yelp
Very kind wait staff, but they seemed overwhelmed with how busy they were at 8pm on a Sunday night. There lobby was untidy (the water pressure was too high for the water spigot and there was water everywhere). After 15 minutes (literally, I checked my receipt) of seeing everyone's shakes sitting out I asked for mine so I could eat it while I waited for my burger.

Audrey M.

Yelp
BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION!!! I ordered a simple Shack burger with cheese and Shack Sauce. What I was served was absolutely DISGUSTING. I was literally sitting outside of this location and it took less than 5 minutes to prepare my sandwich, sounds okay, right? WRONG!! When the young mans and young lady presented me with my sandwich it was not even lukewarm. I knew this because the box container the burger was in was cold even on the bottom of the box. To make matters worse, when I mentioned to the staff that the sandwich was barely lukewarm/borderline cold, the staff treated me as if I said something wrong or crazy. In other words they acted as if I was speaking a different language. This location obviously has problems with people of color. I was appalled when they went and told the cook and started whispering to each other. I am not stupid nor did I make this up. I am a professional who was dressed in full business attire and to top that off, I have an MBA. Why do I bring this up because I want to make it clear that I am not some bum on the street who does not know how to communicate with others. You get the picture. This is not the first time this has happened to me at this location. I should have never given them the benefit of the doubt. This place exudes RACISM at its best. STAY AWAY and don't trust them with your food, I took about 3 bites off this nasty sandwich and now I have a tummy ache! #NASTYBUSINESS

Yelp
This restaurant's food and service symbolizes everything that is wrong with food industry. This one specializes in how to make the worst burgers and still charge the premium price. They use false advertisement, inexperienced workers and intimidation when confronted about the quality. There are other burger places that deserve people's money, not this one.

Kaley B.

Yelp
So the food isn't too bad but it's not good. Me and my son's buns were soggy! And my husband ordered the golden gate or something (2 burger patties) and they gave it to him with one... so he went to complain and they said they'd make him a new one. He ate the burger and went back in and they handed him a burger Pattie in a paper lol! So he had an extra Pattie... I guess they expected him to let his burger get cold and add the new patty.

Vin Z.

Yelp
Paid $100 for 4 small burgers 3 fries and 1 shake. I will never come back here, lol. The epitome of shrinkflation is this.

Madonna M.

Yelp
Let me start off with the food. Hot and Delicious!!! We ordered on the tablet. It was easier and we were able to take our time by exploring the menu. The double burgers were hot and fresh. There was no shortage of French fries and cheese sauce. We tried them all. Would not recommend the spicy fries. They were bland. I like my shakes on the thick side and these were not. Service, not great! I went back in to ask for forks and there were about 5 employees all standing around the cash register talking. One employee was ordering and they were all messing around. Not one acknowledged me standing there. One of the girls finally asked what I needed and she told me to wait a minute and went back to taking the employees order. Another employee finally came over asked me again and said hang on, then the manager finally walked away from her group and asked me again. All I wanted was some forks. There is no inside seating. It is all outside.

Pedro G.

Yelp
The burger was good enough but not happy with the pricing and service experience. No human contact yet prompted for a big tip electronically. The system is to provide your phone number then get a text verifying its right then they send you a text when the food is ready. Got the first text then after waiting 20 minutes without a text saying food was ready went in to find my food sitting there, cold. Wanted to talk w someone about this maybe get a fresh hot burger but no one to talk to without waiting around for who knows how long. Not a good experience.

Kristi C.

Yelp
This new spot in Emeryville is great. I've been a few times so far. It's a great place to come and get a burger and hang out. There are heat lamps and plenty of crowd watching. You can order your food at the kiosk or online and they call u when it's ready. I took my son and friends before the movie but it's a great place to hang out with co-workers or a non-fussy date night.

Kyshia M.

Yelp
This location is failing... the one way in, one way out was already enough considering the entrance is at the kiosk/registers. stood in line to order and was told we HAD to use the kiosk. None of the 10 employees working were working the registers. 2/3 kiosks were working but it's card only. Then if you order beer or wine an employee has to come verify your ID and insert a code onto the kiosk so you can complete your order... well they might as well have someone working at the register. It was actually busy anyway. Then to top it off milkshakes weren't even available. After scrolling through the kiosk thinking I may have skipped over it, I overheard another person asking about the milkshakes not appear on the kiosks and the employee said they're out of shakes... well shouldn't there be a sign up somewhere to tell us that! Anywho, I'm sticking to the downtown location. This one is not going to go well if they plan on being one of the "it" new places Bay St has to offer.

Yelp
The Bay St. Shopping Center is going through a renovation and the new Dine area on the second level has been revamped with new eateries and Shake Shack is one of the new restaurants. We ordered from the kiosks and the food was ready for pickup in about 15 minutes. This location has no indoor seating as all the tables are outside in front of the restaurant and along the second level Dine area. I ordered it to go. I ordered the Avocado Bacon Burger with truffled fries and a chocolate shake. Burger was good as the cheeseburger was topped with three slices of fresh avocado and Applewood smoked bacon. The tuffled fries were topped with parmesan cheese and came with a container of white truffle sauce. This was really good. The chocolate shake was thick and creamy. I had a taste of the White Truffle 'Shroom Burger. It has a thick crisp fried Portobello mushroom with melted Muenster and cheddar cheese topped with truffle sauce. I don't normally eat veggie burgers, but this was pretty good. Shake Shack is a nice dining option for Bay St when here shopping for before or after the movies. Happy that it's at Bay St.

Yelp
~~~ Food: ~~~ Delicious. And interesting options not typical for a "fast casual" restaurant. Tiramisu Milkshake? Creamsicle Milkshake? White Truffle Burger? White Truffle Fries? Then they have other things like Bacon Cheese Fries, Root Beer Floats, Pomegranate Basil Lemonade, and Blood Orange Lemonade. And if you want just a regular burger? Well they have that too. Truly options for everyone - all in 1 spot! For anyone not familiar, Shake Shack also doesn't freeze their beef - so like In-N-Out, it's always fresh. Though the menu doesn't indicate it, the fountain drinks do include free refills, even though it's behind the counter (just ask them). You're given a fresh cup & straw, which keeps things clean. ~~~ Service: ~~~ Excellent. Went on a Wednesday evening at 8:30pm before a movie and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were 12 employees visible on the floor, so they definitely were not understaffed - they were ready to go! Despite a steady flow of customers, we still got all our food in less than 5-10 minutes. You can either order with the cashier, or use the electronic kiosks to place your order. We ordered with the cashier, and they were really friendly. ~~~ Room To Eat? ~~~ Yes! Tons. Because it's part of the Bay St dining, you have the gobs of seats outside to pick from. And if you're coming by at night, you could grab a seat by one of the outdoor heaters (or eat by the elevated fire pit). Or make the giant green rocker chairs your throne - you do you! The restaurant itself doesn't have seating, presumably because it's not necessary with all the seating options outside. This also helps keep it less cluttered in general. I've yet to see the dining area outside get overfilled - there is lots of seating. ~~~ Parking: ~~~ A quick 2-3 minute walk from Bay St parking. There's metered street parking on Bay Street, though honestly they don't seem to check after about 6:00pm (despite what the signs say). If not there, there's the parking structure which is basically attached to the back of the Bay St dining area that this Shake Shack is located in (so, that would also not take long to walk from). This restaurant is located on the 2nd Level, so if you're coming from the parking structure, head there. ~~~ How's the Area? ~~~ Nice. No need to worry about safety here. This Shake Shack is located near an array of shops, and a big AMC Movie Theatre (with 16 auditoriums!) so whether you want to grab a bite to eat after shopping at Nike, Express, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, H&M, Uniqlo or more it's perfect. Alternatively, it's perfectly located for a nice bite to eat before catching a movie. ~~~ Closing Words ~~~ They just had their grand opening on March 16th, 2023 and though I know this is originally an East Coast chain, I'm glad to see they're taking this expansion location seriously. There was a popular Midwest chain (Steak 'N Shake) that completely flubbed their "coming out party" out West, and now they're not even in the Bay anymore - gone! We will definitely be back to this location. We first discovered Shake Shack in New York City, and loved it. Hopefully more people get to enjoy what this place has to offer!
Yelp
Decent burgers but wait time is way too long!!! The place is run by a bunch of kids so orders do get messed up frequently.
Yelp
I hate giving bad reviews and Shake Shack warrants it. Food Biggest disappointment Burgers were meh. Small. Bland Cheese Fries were soggy, and it's not b/c of the cheese. The box was even sideways when we received it in the bag and the sauce was missing Chicken bites the only thing that was ok. Better than traditional chicken nuggets but the coating was falling apart. Service Everyone that worked there look miserable and hated their job except 1 dude that was calling out orders. Location/ setup Located on Bay St 2nd floor, theater side. No seating inside, only outdoors. TLDR: Don't waste your money. Don't bother.
Yelp
Shake Shack has finally arrived to Bay St. Burgers and fries are about what you'd expect at any Shake Shack location. It's typical chain food but better than most, it's a solid option after a movie. So I'll focus more on service. Right now, this place is probably more of a 3 1/2. I bump it up to 4 because the food is still good and they're pretty new, only open for just under a month I think. The space itself is very small, it's kind of cramped and organization of lines could be better. There's 3 screens you can order from or you can order up front at the register. The two times I've been so far, it's been busy and it can kind of get confusing who is still in line or who is waiting for what. Hopefully with time this can get better.
Yelp
I went to the Bay Street location thinking I could pop in and grab a burger/fries to go. Bay Street has 30 minutes free parking, so I think no problem. I ended up ordering a burger/fries and get a text message saying I'll get texted when my order is ready (1:10 PM). I'm waiting and waiting and 30 minutes pass by and no text message. I go inside and they said they have to redo the order because they gave my food to someone else. I finally get my food at (1:52 PM) and head to my car. At which point I'm greeted by a Parking ticket. Delays happen, but then to get a Parking ticket on top of it is absolutely terrible. I am never coming back here again. I would rather go to Publix where I don't have to worry about getting a parking ticket.
Yelp
Organizational sh!t-show seeing the complete lack of coordination between the young eager ppl. running like headless chickens at this place. Embrace yourself with patience to wait 30 to 45mins for a hamburger that's slightly better than McDonald's or Burger King. This is not the employees fault. Something deeper is missing here. The guys were rushing to supply a small waiting line/delivery orders.
Yelp
Much needed next to movies! Had the bacon, avocado, burger, fries, like two out of five order through kiosk came out in seven minutes which I think it's good self serve condiments area no seating inside a lot of outside seating open air easy to get to from parking garage...
Yelp
I have ordered 6pcs of chicken bites that wasn't good at all and the crinkle fries they gave it to me when it is cold and the sauce doesn't taste good it taste like mustard all I can taste and the strawberry lemonade was okay out of all them the drink over all taste a little better then the rest.
Yelp
I love shake shack, so it pains me to leave such a poor review. I've been to this location four times now, and three of those times the shake machine has been broken. If I wanted to be met with such shake disappointment, I could just go to McDonald's. Save yourself a trip and go to the Oakland location.
Yelp
THE FOOD: Veggie Shack: This is the best vegetarian burger out there, hands down. The flavor is spot-on, it's what all veggie burgers should be. As a meat-eater, even I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The crispy onions are the perfect touch too. Shack burger: Standard, solid burger with melty-gooey American cheese. Nothing revolutionary but always hits the spot, reminds me a lot of The Melt. Fries: Your standard crinkle-cut fries, nothing to write home about. They never seem to be fresh from the fryer for some reason. Spicy fries: Was not a fan of this one, I wouldn't get it again. THE PROCESS: Order on a tablet, give your phone number, and go sit down at a table outside. You get a text to come pick up your food when it's ready.
Yelp
they have the most horrible service they are very rude even after they got my order wrong I tried explaining I have an allergy and I needed my order changed and they didn't read my order correctly they changed it after and I had to wait for my drinks because they didn't want to give them to me and still got mad at me stay away from this woman
Yelp
What a shit show! In an attempt to maximize profits, the owners have understaffed this place and made it nearly impossible to speak to an employee. On a Saturday in June we placed an order at 12:14 at the kiosk and waited and waited and waited until 12:43 for it to be ready - so don't come here if you have anywhere to go like, say, a movie to catch. The food we got was at best okay, not all of it hot. This isn't the Shake Shack of old. The owners of Bay St. are doing a nice job in revitalizing the place, including by adding attractive seating and enough employees to keep it tidy. But if an abysmally operated Shake Shack is the best they can find as a tenant, it is hard to see how the mall is going to be a destination. If you want your food hot and you want it within fifteen minutes, avoid!
Yelp
We were disappointed in this location. The configuration for customers is horrible! Additionally, we noticed several areas of concerns: 1. Their ice bin stays open. We stood and watched the worker that was making drinks have a few coughing fits into the open ice bin. 2. We also noticed that most workers had on gloves. However, one used the ice scooper without a glove and put it back into the bin. Yuck! 3. We received our food items on a dirty tray. It had a clean liner, but it was dirty underneath. 4. We waited 34 minutes for two burgers, two drinks, and two fries. The food was not hot. The fries were slightly warm. Of course we got our drinks with NO ICE after seeing the worker coughing in the bin. 5. They also didn't want to honor info on the website. It's overrated. I'd rather wait in an extremely long line for my hamburger-making friends in the white aprons! They're friendlier and their food is cheaper and much tastier. First and last time dining here!
Yelp
Spend your money elsewhere. These burgers aren't up to the hype and the prices are ridiculous.
Yelp
Solid Shake Shack location. I rarely go to Shake Shack but wanted to try something different. This review is for online ordering and pickup. The ordering process was smooth and didn't force an account creation. I was able to customize items as necessary. Since the location was in the Bay Street shops, I parked in the garage. 30 minute free parking was sufficient for pickup. My order was ready immediately when I arrived. Not a sealed bag and I didn't check it so didn't get any napkins. Otherwise the order was correct. Food was hot and smelled delicious. Got a smokehouse double burger and chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was just meh but the burger was awesome, especially with the peppers. Solid place for a quick in and out.
Yelp
It would be nice not to have to wait for the employees to finish their convo about how much they hate Creed 3 before they acknowledge me. And why are the fries NEVER hot?? And when I ask for utensils and condiments to go, is it so hard to see that and include them? Ugh!
Yelp
Milkshakes on. Friday while we shop for clothes so I can make it through a work week and once again Shake Shack make every other milkshake seem silly. Sweet. Thick. Gooey. Flavorful. Black and white never disappoints.
Yelp
Best Shake Shack I been too! My burger was soo good. I went to the one in downtown Oakland and swore I would never ever get shake shack again BUT this time I went the fries were super crispy, with large servings, and my double cheeseburger tasted 1000000x better than super duper or in n out. ... still thinking about the cheeseburger
