~~~ Food: ~~~
Delicious.
And interesting options not typical for a "fast casual" restaurant.
Tiramisu Milkshake? Creamsicle Milkshake? White Truffle Burger? White Truffle Fries? Then they have other things like Bacon Cheese Fries, Root Beer Floats, Pomegranate Basil Lemonade, and Blood Orange Lemonade. And if you want just a regular burger? Well they have that too. Truly options for everyone - all in 1 spot!
For anyone not familiar, Shake Shack also doesn't freeze their beef - so like In-N-Out, it's always fresh.
Though the menu doesn't indicate it, the fountain drinks do include free refills, even though it's behind the counter (just ask them). You're given a fresh cup & straw, which keeps things clean.
~~~ Service: ~~~
Excellent.
Went on a Wednesday evening at 8:30pm before a movie and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were 12 employees visible on the floor, so they definitely were not understaffed - they were ready to go!
Despite a steady flow of customers, we still got all our food in less than 5-10 minutes.
You can either order with the cashier, or use the electronic kiosks to place your order. We ordered with the cashier, and they were really friendly.
~~~ Room To Eat? ~~~
Yes! Tons.
Because it's part of the Bay St dining, you have the gobs of seats outside to pick from. And if you're coming by at night, you could grab a seat by one of the outdoor heaters (or eat by the elevated fire pit). Or make the giant green rocker chairs your throne - you do you!
The restaurant itself doesn't have seating, presumably because it's not necessary with all the seating options outside. This also helps keep it less cluttered in general. I've yet to see the dining area outside get overfilled - there is lots of seating.
~~~ Parking: ~~~
A quick 2-3 minute walk from Bay St parking. There's metered street parking on Bay Street, though honestly they don't seem to check after about 6:00pm (despite what the signs say).
If not there, there's the parking structure which is basically attached to the back of the Bay St dining area that this Shake Shack is located in (so, that would also not take long to walk from). This restaurant is located on the 2nd Level, so if you're coming from the parking structure, head there.
~~~ How's the Area? ~~~
Nice. No need to worry about safety here. This Shake Shack is located near an array of shops, and a big AMC Movie Theatre (with 16 auditoriums!) so whether you want to grab a bite to eat after shopping at Nike, Express, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, H&M, Uniqlo or more it's perfect. Alternatively, it's perfectly located for a nice bite to eat before catching a movie.
~~~ Closing Words ~~~
They just had their grand opening on March 16th, 2023 and though I know this is originally an East Coast chain, I'm glad to see they're taking this expansion location seriously. There was a popular Midwest chain (Steak 'N Shake) that completely flubbed their "coming out party" out West, and now they're not even in the Bay anymore - gone!
We will definitely be back to this location. We first discovered Shake Shack in New York City, and loved it. Hopefully more people get to enjoy what this place has to offer!
