We had a terrible experience while on vacation in Miami, so this meal was largely sponsored by Shake Shack corporate to make up for that experience.
We had been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Katy location and even tweeted (what's it called now? X-ing?) the Shake Shack account asking when the new location would open. Saw on Nextdoor that the new Katy location was finally open, and we decided to take our discount code there for lunch. We ordered via the website because the app was not working at all (to use the code you had to order online - not in person), and our food was on a pickup shelf upon arrival. The instructions did say we would get a text once our food was ready, but that never happened, so the shake was a bit watery by the time we picked it up, but not bad. The food was still warm.
The burgers were as expected (the smoke shack is a perfect vinegary, peppery delight), and the chicken bites were good. There is no way to ask for more than one sauce in the app, even for a large order of bites, so I had to ask the staff for a second flavor (I like honey mustard - my husband prefers bbq), but they were very accommodating. I know they just opened so it's still a work in progress, and there was a lot of staff that didn't seem to know what to do, but that will improve.
The restroom was clean, it's new obviously, but the parking situation is treacherous at best. Much of the lot is still gravel and with the very long drive through lines and one way in one way out setup, getting there is a bit daunting. All in all, it was a good visit and we'll be back.
