Disappointing Experience – Dry Burgers, Overpriced I recently visited Shake Shack at the Mosaic District and was quite disappointed. The burger was dry and lacked flavor, and considering the price, it didn't offer good value. Many customers have shared similar sentiments, noting issues like cold, tasteless food and long wait times.

Recently I took my team here for a team lunch for the 4th to have burgers and hotdogs… the team there was checking on us often and the food came out quick…. I but I want to highlight their limited pistachio “Dubai” chocolate milk shake… fire!

This burger chain is located in the Mosaic District and is famous for its Angus beef blend burger patties and clean and welcoming atmosphere. The burgers are tasty, and the service is prompt, but the portions seem small compared to the price. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic place to get a quick bite.

Ordered $34 worth of food through Door Dash. Food arrived an hour and a half later. COLD burgers and fries! Door Dash driver Jamal hung up on me. Door Dash corporate hung up twice. I called Kayla manager of Shake Shack in the Mosaic Fairfax. She said there’s nothing they can do. Disgusting experience. Not edible food.

Food quality? Good Price? Considering the size and portion, high. I paid more than 46$ for 3 small sandwiches, 3 Coke, and 3 French fries ( tips and taxes Not included) Notice: pay attention if you order both diet cokes and regular Cokes, Mine was messed up; I understand those young servers were under pressure during a busy time, and they fixed my order quickly, but you need to be careful anyway. Overall, their service is good and acceptable, and there are a few self-order stations that you can use to choose and place your order. The location is very good, a nice area, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seats and tables were available.

Shake Shake never misses when it comes down to the food. With this new location location in Mosaic, it has been great so far from my experience. The Food: I went with the double stack avocado bacon burger with a side of crinkle cut fries. The burger was nicely cooked and delicious as always. The fries were crisp and paired with with the shack sauce. The Service: for this location, they had multiple ordering kiosks for you to use, but there was one register taking orders as well. The kiosk was easy to navigate and very straightforward. The time it took for me to get my order was longer than I'd like, but that varies depending on time/day. Overall, solid 4/5. No complaints besides wait time.

The grilled cheese was blacker than the night sky. The shake was pure slush with no flavor. The whipped cream looked like it was made in a lab in china. The service took so long for a sub par meal, the price is to high. The burgers had no cheese.

I love shake shack and this location did not disappoint. It was a busy Friday evening when we stopped by. Here you place your order via kiosk and take a number and your food is brought to you if you are dinning in. My burger was delicious. The tea wasn't that great though. There is ample seating and the table were clean.

My first time EVER to a shake shack. I ordered a veggie burger with avocado and a dairy free chocolate shake! I was super happy with the quality of the veggie burger itself. It was not as crumbly as most others are and had a very good texture. I'm also very happy with the dairy free shake as well. It was indulgent, so I was happy to split it with my husband. Now I did think that the service to food was a little slow, we waited a little over 15 mins Overall, I would come back, and make 2x modifications, no American cheese on the burger and I would try either extra salt on the fries or the bbq fries next time. I wasn't very happy with the fries. We threw away about one tray of fries overall.

Came here on a Saturday evening about an hour before close. Tried using the app, but for some reason, it wouldn't work. We then proceeded to use the kiosk. We waited 25 minutes for a shack stack with a lettuce bun, which was the only thing that I ordered. There was only another family inside. Inside looked pretty clean from the outside, but when I have to wipe down my own table with my own disinfectant wipes, I definitely have to deduct a star... Though the food was good, I don't think I'll come back again since it took that long to receive a $13 burger on an empty Saturday evening.

Ian wanted a burger. So, we walked to Shake Shack on a humid evening. A/C inside was a welcome respite! We ordered at the Kiosk. Process is easy. We helped ourselves to the condiments while our food was being prepared. Since we are not much soda drinkers, we asked for couple of cups for water. Staff were helpful in cleaning up, bringing out food and answering questions. We ordered couple of cheeseburgers, a Shroom burger, and couple of fries. Burgers were delicious. Fries were hot and hearty. A low key dinner was a success! This restaurant has my recommendation!

The last hour of being open will show you the true colors of a restaurant. Here, they had no numbers for the ordering kiosks, trays were stacked high at the garbage area, the tables were dirty and there was trash on the floors. Even the napkin dispensers were empty (they had somehow run out, per the staff). And yet they made the food quickly (it was a delicious burger despite not having fried pickles as advertised) and handed it over with a smile. This location is very busy and they seemed understaffed. But the folks who were there kept pushing through. Good experience for me overall.

Not typically someone who reviews fast food or fast casual chains but felt the need to shout out an employee Jules or Julia. I am certain she's a manager and a great one at that. The tables were all spotless, and she continued to ensure everything was clean. My order is always correct at this location and always pretty fast. Really appreciate the great customer service that I always receive from the manager. She goes above and beyond to make everything good! Hope she stays around as my little ones love shake shack as do I

Door Dash delivered cold, nasty, expensive food with a black hair in the fries. No refund. I'll never eat Shake Shit again or order from Door Dash.

So I have bern here three times so far. Once on my own, another time with somebody else, and then a third by myself but for Takeout. The first two times were flawless. It was empty and on a weekday so my order came out hot and ready. I like how they have kiosks in the main entrance. It's pretty efficient. I hadn't had Shake Shack in years, not since they opened the one in Coral Gables, FL by University of Miami. I had been craving a burger for quite some time after not having had any for a good while. This hit the spot. The first two times were perfect. My order was correct. It came out in a timely manner. The burger was hot and the bun was toasted to perfection. The fries were crinkly and my shake was heavenly with that smooth and creamy custard taste that Shake Shack is known for. The third time did not go as smooth as the last but this was on a weekend. I went to order takeout but three of the four kiosks where you place your order were down, technical issue perhaps? There were no numbers left to take to indicate what your order is as they usually have them as table signs or take out markers. The restaurant was pretty busy. My order took about an hour to be prepared. I think patience is a virtue and having come from a hospitality background, there could be a slew of reasons why they were backed up. Maybe they were short staffed? I am not sure. The manager made up for it by giving us a voucher for a complimentary burger. I returned again after a 4th time and the wait was fine, 5-10mins at most and the burger was just as good as the last time. I took a star off for the wait, but it was a Saturday when that mishap occurred. It's understandable. That's life. There are more pressing matters in the world than waiting for a burger, but hopefully the wait can be resolved for the future just so operations run smoothly in the kitchen and the crowd control can be managed because people were piling up pretty rapidly in the waiting area and I am pretty easygoing customer, but other people, not so much, especially families with kids. I appreciate the manager taking accountability though and giving those waiting like myself vouchers. I will def be back. I also forgot to mention they sell red and white wine! In a can, mind you! And it was really good actually. I was pleasantly surprised when I went by myself that first time. I have never had wine from a can, but there is a first for everything and it did not disappoint.

Just not worth the money...burger, chicken sando, cheese fries and a drink for $32. Bacon cheeseburger was bland, small dollop of cheese sauce on the fries, and chicken sando was just ok. Sunset lemonade tastes like the strawberry lemonade from Wendy's. His words were 'Wendy's biggie bag is way better"...enough said!

7/23/24: just fin a bacon burger and cheese fries. when i first came in 2022, the wait was horrible. they were so quick and speedy today, so that's a huge improvement since opening in 2022. good, satisfying food. knocked off a star for pricing.

Whats not to like . The burgers are great. This was a nice and comfortable location.

Nothing beats being down the road from Shake Shack. It's fantastic to catch a movie and easily grab a bacon burger, shake, or cheesy bacon fries before or after. The food consistently hits the mark, especially the shakes. It's an incredible option for late-night cravings. It'd be fantastic if you could consider staying open past 10 PM on weekends. Please! We really need a go-to place for snacks after drinks at the mosaic bars. The chocolate Oreo funnel cake shake is incredible, and so are the bacon cheesy fries. I adore the fact that the fries come with their own adorable little fry fork! The service is friendly, and the restaurant's interior is spacious, airy, and spotless.

The store in Fairfax burger was so salty that you couldn't taste anything else! There were also red peppers that I didn't want that were mildly hot. When they bring it to the table there were no napkins along with it. I had my shopping and didn't know where the napkins were...never again!

Pros: +good location - right in Mosaic +plenty of seating inside and just outside +condiments station with water +burgers (at least the Shack burger) is tasty +kiosks to order yourself, still has a cashier if you want to talk to a person or pay in cash +can text you when your order is ready +fries are not too salty and are very consistent +tables are wiped down consistently Cons: -pretty slow for fast food - came a few times and it took around 15-20 min -burgers as small, prices are expensive (cheapest burger + fries is already close to $12) -if you place an order via mobile order, it won't be sitting at the mobile order shelf. It will be at the pick up counter with all the other regular orders -bathrooms could be cleaner

Great food, fast-ish service, and a great atmosphere to eat in. Well done, shake shack!

Love their burgers Grass fed. Ground beef and chicken sandwiches with Shake Shack sauce. Crunkle French fries with cheese is totally awesome

This restaurant can be way busy. Congratulations to them for this. Mosaic District can be nuts, but for a number of reasons, I cannot avoid it. My hope is Shake Shack will consider more relaxed parts of Fairfax, that still will generate a profit. I find this place to be carry out, as a table each time isn't happening. With that being said it's decent. Personally the few Fuddruckers in business, they are my favorite hamburger. Yet here they are quite delicious. I like them although wish a little more size. The rolls are so-so, although I definitely enjoy the French fries and shakes. Even though hectic, kudos to all the nice employees here. They do well, and also a clean environment too.

After my last review, it appears that significant changes have been made to improve both speed and customer service. All self-order kiosks were operational on one visit and 2 of the 4 on another visit...and are in constant use by customers. Staff is both friendly and attentive. On the first of these follow-up visits, I ordered a double patty bacon cheeseburger with peppers and shallots, fries, chicken bites and a chocolate/vanilla shake. All were perfect and full of flavor! On the second follow-up, I tried the Avocado Bacon Chicken Sandwich and Cherry Hibiscus Lemonade for the first time. Both also great, well packaged, as well as photo ready. The avocado slice was a little thin compared to the beauty shot in the menu, but that's not a surprise. Of course, I ordered some fries and a shake to go along with my meal...this time chocolate. Speed could still be improved - but no orders were sitting half assembled, some improvements still need to be made to the order pick up process, and the structural changes suggested would help the overall experience, but overall, quite a difference within a short time. The first of these visits was at a peak time on a Saturday, and despite the constant orders, things were going smoothly. The second I had low expectations as I half expected to be come upon a locked door as they were less than 15min from closing, but I was able to order from the server (as well as a number of customers after me) with no problems and with a smile. For some reason the smartphone app cut off orders at an hour before closing. I also was able to see that ordering through the app is 8-10% more expensive than direct orders. All-in-all, the stars speak for themselves. From a summed experience of 2 stars up to 4 stars. Great progress! I'll be visiting more frequently - with confidence now - as this location progresses toward that fifth star!

My favorite shake shack location! Soooo happy they're in Mosaic. It's such a spacious store and it feels clean. The burgers are amazing and high quality. The only thing I didn't like was the menu placement. It's on the wall but too small/far away, so it's a bit hard to read when standing at the register to order. Otherwise, everything at this location was good! Standard service, nice facility and delicious food. It was also quite empty on a weeknight (no lines). Highly recommend this location!

Ordered a burger with lettuce and onions, they gave me a burger with tomatoes and lettuce. I made this known to the cashier and returned the burger, to only be returned a burger less than a minute later. They only removed the tomatoes from the original burger and put onions on it. I plainly do not eat tomatoes nor food that it touches, so I gave that burger to a friend. I went ahead and ordered a second burger with only lettuce, and when they brought it out it had three bacon bits on the bottom of the bun. I got a refund and left. The place was empty, yet silly mistakes are still being made with a full staff on deck. Easily 0/10 experience, and never returning to any shack shake, let alone this location ever again. The absolute negligence in the kitchen is beyond me.

Besides the drink, I totally recommend this place! Drink: The mango passionfruit drink is very basic, barely tasting any mango in it. I'm not sure if it's the same for other locations, but I don't recommend it. Everything else: This is one of the bigger shake shacks with self kiosks and lots of open space with the high ceilings. The place was clean and the staff was alright. You could never go wrong with a shakeshack burger as they're always delicious.

I've been craving some Shake Shack for awhile. I know that's there one in Tysons but I didn't want to deal with walking through the mall to get to it. So when I found out Merrifield had one, it was perfect. I did a little shopping in the area and headed over for lunch. I got the single shack burger and cheese fries. Service was pretty fast and I like that I was able to do my own ordering from the self checkout area. I definitely recommend as a quick lunch spot if you're in the area shopping.

Welcome to the Mosaic area! Same great menu options as the other locations. There were several kiosks for you to order your meal from. The space was open, large, and airy! Definitely more roomy compared to some of the other shake shacks in the area. Plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating. My husband and I ordered a burger and fries each and everything came out quickly. The staff were friendly as well. Currently their hours are only 4-9pm but hopefully they can change their hours in the future. So glad there's a shake shack in this area. Can't wait to come back for more burgers?

So excited for a shake shack closer to us! We used to have to trek to Tysons and weave through mall traffic just for a burger. Really nicely designed restaurant - good amount of outdoor seating and a ton of indoor seating. Still have new opening struggles - 15 min wait for our order and the fries weren't filled up all the way. They corrected immediately once we brought it to their attention. Same great dependable taste as with any shake shack!

Great food and amazing experience! They accidentally charged me twice for fries and offered to give me a free shake. Immediately refilled ketchup when I asked!

I have been to many shake shack locations over the years and honestly while the burgers are better than a typical fast food burger, they aren't as good as other options like five guys, Z burger, burger 7, smashburger, etc. Their beef patties are supposedly angus beef and higher quality, but they are more greasy than most burger places yet not more flavorful. The burger buns could use some improvement- they are just plain potato buns. They use soybean oil on their french fries and some of the sauces, which should change. Sometimes they have good seasonal lemonade flavors and seasonal milkshake flavors. One problem with the lemonade drinks is they put way, way too much ice. One time 2/3 of the cup was filled with ice. So you may want to ask for no ice on the lemonades. One of the employees seemed to complain about the no ice request, and it's possible one of them wanted to charge extra for a no ice request. It was long ago so i can't remember all the details on the lemonade and ice issue. Their shack sauce needs improvement in my opinion. It seems to be some sort of cheese based sauce. You have to use it sparingly; the burgers can get nasty if you put too much of the shacksauce on them.

We ordered out and had two burgers delivered to us. However, one of the burgers was smushed upon arrival, and the other one was visibly burnt, and the taste of charred burger was unpleasant.

My most recent visit was on a Sunday night around 8pm. I had to wait more than 15 minutes for my order. This was understandable since they were packed and were also dealing with making delivery orders. However, order pickup was a bit chaotic. People were crowding around the counter and condiment counter, waiting to hear their name to pick up their order. It'd be nice if there was a better order pickup system in place. While the wait can be long, the burgers at this shake shack location are consistently amazing. They always hit the spot when you're craving one (or more). On weeknights, it's not too crowded and you can get your order relatively quickly. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

People love Shake Shack. I think Shake Shacks addition to the shopping center is exciting even though there is one a few miles away in Tysons. People love Shake Shack. I hate to admit it but while I worked in Tysons Ive only had their chicken nuggets and milkshakes, never their famous burgers or fries. Swung by with my husband after the farmers market and saw that they took over the old Choolah spot (RIP). They redid some of the decor but took advantage of the large airy space which is nice since a lot of the restaurants in Mosaic can feel small/crowded which deters me from wanting to go. Only 2 kiosks were working and 1 would work all the way until it asked for payment the bug out and cancel your order. This couple next to us tried 3 times and were so frustrated they just left.. understandably. We ordered the hot ones burger, shroom burger, fries and some soda. Burgers were both very good but the fries were fantastic. I'm typically not a fan of crinkle fries, I think they're the worst type of fry next to a mushy waffle fry but these were 10/10. Tables could use more attention but there was a ton of foot traffic I'm sure for a Saturday afternoon that they didn't have a chance to reset the dining area. I won't hold it against them as they were working hard and quick to get orders out. Pretty good, pretty pretty good.

Shake Shack typically hits the spot. They had a special burger called Bourbon Bacon Cheddar at the time that I wanted to try. The bacon jam and the crispy onion straws complimented the burger well. My favorite side to go with my burger is the bacon cheese fries.

I was proud to be the first app order! I went to pick it up, and this place was already crowded! I'm guessing it will stay that way from now on! Lots of people working there and super helpful! I guess that's always the case on day one! Really nice location! Food took about 10 to 15 minutes after I placed the order, which is pretty normal. Was the usual excellent Shake Shack fare!! I am just so happy they are in our neighborhood!! Update: I realized after writing my review that their hours are going to be 5 PM to 9 PM. That seems rather crazy to me! I'm not sure if it's because of staffing issues. I cannot imagine that's a very good, long-term, business strategy! I really hope that changes soon! Most Shake Shacks are open from 11 AM to up to 10 PM.

I was pretty sad to hear that Choolah was gone but I'm a pretty decent Shake Shack fan so I'm glad they finally opened an even closer location to me. I'm loving the process of this Shake Shack since previous one's that I have visited just had very backed up lines and then they yell out for your orders. There are 4 credit card only self service screens that made the ordering/paying process a lot easier and 1 or 2 cash only registers just in case. Once your order is ready, you receive a text and just go up and grab it. We got a single Shackburger, a Shack Stack, Bacon Cheese Fries, a Fifty/Fifty Spring Citrusade, and a Chocolate Pie Shake. They're pretty consistent usually when it comes to the food. The burgers and fries were great as expected. The Citrusade wasn't too sweet, but I couldn't really taste either part of the drink too so not really my favorite. The pie shake was ok, mostly a chocolate shake flavor with a lot of cookie crumble/pie crust at the bottom which was kind of difficult to drink, straw could've been bigger. I would love to come back and test their online ordering since I had so many problems at the Tysons location with that. Hopefully they will reach back out to me with that but in the mean time i'll stick with their burgers and fries.

So far this is the worst burger and fries I've had. Burger and fries are cold and tasteless. McDonald's is better, so is Burger King or even the BGR and 5 guys. Definitely not ordering here even if I was starving. Waste of money and a huge disappointment.

The app won't let you order even when you're standing inside the store. Directs you to the Tysons Corner location instead. The kiosks won't let you input the code for your free milkshake either. Then I stood at the cash line and was ignored for more than 5 minutes. I give up and will never visit the Mosaic branch again.

Excellent service from Freddy! This man deserves a promotion or a big bonus. He's consistently walking around and making sure customers get their food quickly and efficiently. My kid made a mistake on her order and Freddy was more than willing to rectify the problem. Thank you Freddy, you made my kid happy!

Bright new location in Mosaic. Free parking in any of the many lots around. Shake shack is in the spot where Choolah used to be, right beside Angelika theater, if you have visited the Mosaic Center before. This location is super clean and bright, huge windows to let the sun in on lots of seating indoor and out. There are kiosks to order and pay from (Im a fan of pictures ) which made the lunch "crowd" able to place their orders placed pretty quick. Got the bacon avocado cheeseburger which was super fresh. Glad to have this as an option here near my office.

Disappointed/ dissatisfied. Very small, not tasty, not crispy. I am over this place with most visits being bad.

I order shackBurger ! The meat is dry more than I used to have . They made food so fast, i got my order in 2 mins or so. Clean, easy parking , staff was nice .

Restaurant struggles with staffing. Was rudely dismissed while at the counter (by the manager??) even though they served the customer right before me. Why open if you are not staffed? Are you even treating or paying your staff appropriately for there to be issues with staffing? Edit: whoever (a man) was managing on 6/6/2022 is also rude to other staff. I overheard another staff member ask him a question and he dismissed/snapped at her instead of helping. I understand the duress of working a busy shift, but why not work as a team instead placing your anger on the staff that did show up?

The thing with shake shack is you have to outsmart them in order to have a great experience. And make no mistake, when the Shack is hitting on all cylinders they are awesome. But unfortunately it's exceedingly rare. So how do you get the heavenly version of their burger and fries? How indeed. The default mode it seems to be for Shake Shack is to cook a lot of their food ahead of time. Their reasoning I'm assuming is if a rush comes they're prepared, and if not, then their customers still get their food fast, but it isn't hot/fresh. Look into the kitchen of any of their restaurants you'll see trays and trays of fries under heat lamps. And based on my recent experience there must also be a mountain of burgers being kept warm on the back of the grill, sadly all dried out by the time they get to the mouths of customers. So the key to outsmarting this puzzling strategy is to only place orders when they are swamped with customers. And the only way to know that is to place the order in person, and never on the app. This strategy requires walking away and going somewhere else for dinner if there aren't customers pouring out the door. The question is whether the wait and see strategy is worth it. I guess from a positive perspective you could look at it like luck. Hey I'm at a Shack Shack, I'm hungry, and they're swamped with customers - score! Or maybe I'll just give up and head elsewhere for a quick bite where the food is consistently excellent, and made fresh to order.

First of all, THANK YOU mosaic district for finally having a fair priced and delicious burger spot. Most restaurants in mosaic that sell burgers often require a whole sit down and full service. It's great, but sometimes it's nice to have a grab and go. I grew up going to the shake shack in Tyson's corner mall, so moment I walked into the mosaic location, the ambiance felt like a breath of fresh air. Very modern and clean. The staff, especially the manager, Julie was extremely welcoming. She knows the ins and the outs (I was observing EVERYTHING) And she definitely is efficient and is great with her team members. An employee asked for her help with supplies, the sharpie was low! and she was eager and kindly helped them back right away! Sharpies are a staple to organizing take out orders. Great management is a reflection of the staff and the execution to a restaurant. Kudos to Julie because the 10 minutes I was standing there, she exemplified the management I'd love to work for: efficient, fair, friendly, and passionate. Her team members, I wish I asked for his name, he had really cool and intricate tattoos; he was very friendly, too and was nice enough to put my order together and throwing a shack shack sauce for me. I also noticed how frequent the employees changed out their gloves between orders! That's perfect, especially for allergies and constantly touching surfaces and packaging materials. Again, I notice everything and I'm very glad to know and feel comfortable devouring my burger. I'm an extrovert, but I sure did enjoy the self service kiosk. Super efficient and allowed me to order my meal just how I wanted it. The food came out quick and all correct. Now let's get to the juicy part. THE BURGER IS THE JUICIEST AND SATISFIED MY CRAVING. I took mine to go and ate at home and even with the way back home, that burger stayed warm and the best part, it wasn't soggy. It's the perfect size because most of the time, burgers make me feel so sick and heavy, but the single patty was the right amount for dinner. The shack shack sauce was so creamy, I dipped my fries in it along with the cheese. The fries are crispy but buttery soft on the inside. I definitely see that I'll be ordering here frequently. Not sure what everyone is talking about. It is a good hamburger. Nothing great. Matter of fact, I probably won't be back anytime soon. Yesterday I had the big ball from Amazon grocery store. The meatball was better. The hot dog was excellent. The vanilla shake was excellent....

Not going to waste time writing about the burgers because I think almost everyone is familiar with shake shack, personally it's one of my favorite burger places. Only reason why I'm giving it a "meh" rating is cause the service is so slow here, like sloth-levels of slowness. We waited about 35 minutes to be called up then after another 5-10 minutes they found out someone stole our order. Over an hour long wait total. Though the replacement burgers and fries were real good. I'd say give this place some time to settle down a bit before going in during peak hours on a weekend. There were a lot of grumpy customers tonight.

Me and my daughter love shake shack! I'm so happy they opened in mosaic. We love the fries and cheese sauce it's seriously addictive, and I always get a double burger protein style . This is by far the best location I've ever been to. It's clean and everyone is friendly, attentive, quick, and the food is always hot and fresh!

OMG!! I was so excited to see that they opened a Shake Shack at the mosaic! For starters, I would have to say that this location is huge. When my friend and I walked through the door, someone had greeted us which was very polite. They have kiosks for you to order if you don't feel like waiting in line. While my friend was ordering there was another employee walking around the kiosks in case a guest needed help. Her food came out fast, and we decided to see on the patio. While outside, another employee walked by and asked us if we were okay and if we need anything. The staff is pretty attentive which is extremely nice. The bathroom was fairly clean, and the restaurant all around was clean. I definitely liked this location & the customer service better than the other locations.

Orders though grubhub delayed delayed then it got cancelled on me very disappointed they should just make their own app for deliveries

Good quality burgers and fries! I tried the shake too and that was also very yummy. My burger seemed to not have that much bacon in it (probably one strip) but other than that the food was good overall.

Not many people in there and I waited 20 minutes for a burger and fries. Lunchtime on a Saturday. No ketchup. Food was good. Unacceptable service.
