This is Thee Atmosphere to step out of the “hustle” and enjoy time with a loved one and your luggage - all in your happy place while waiting for your train to board. Your ORDER YOU SELECT…. and the Staff cooks and prepares your selections in perhaps a half an hour because this is so very popular. There is nothing like this. And, the Shakes are tantalizingly awesome! You can even dine in a carved out section in the Station’s massive hall if you like to people watch. Well, enjoy your stay. We sure did! 🟢 Green for go, go eat delicious, hot, savory goodness while you're running late on the train you have to get on in 5 minutes. 🫩 🍔 This specific location, (Union Station) delivered timeliness, tastyness and friendlniss. The price was a little big to the portion, but it was very deliciously juicy and I'm probably just way to fat. 😂 🤤 Clean, great vibe and very easy to find in the Union Concorse. Amazing location and delivery.😁 😋 BONUS: If you carry a presto card, you get 20% off the places to eat around here. Unfortunately for me, I saw the sign that said that too late. 🟢 🍨I never tried the shake yet, but I want too, I'll see you later Shake Shack.😁 🍔🟢If you enjoyed reading my review, follow, me and ask me about anything. I probably won't know because I don't know EVERYTHING, but I'll might actually. 😁😁

Google
Tried their Veggie Shack — it’s a good burger: crunchy, flavorful, and satisfying. However, if you're choosing between the two, I’d always recommend the Shroom Burger. It’s far superior — the crispy portobello filled with molten cheese remains unbeatable in both texture and taste.

The servers were very kind and attentive! They went above and beyond to make the experience nice. I went with friends and we found the seating area comfortable and clean. We had a good time chatting while we waited for our food. I got the veggie burger(6.7/10, it was alright taste wise, and it was filling), the French fries(10/10, perfect texture, hot, fresh, nice and salty), the lemonade(8/10, one of the better fast food lemonades) and the Shack Attack Concrete(10/10, absolutely delicious).

Google
Tried the Shake Shack at Union Station and was pleasantly surprised by their new hot dogs — tasty and a great value while on promotion. Ordering online was super convenient, and the food was ready on time. The in-store pickup area could use a bit more organization.

Google
I tried the “Chicken Shack” it was excellent. Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked white chicken breast on the inside. I really enjoyed the buttermilk herb mayo. I take the pickles off and eat them on the side, but they were also very good. They lose a point for the shakes. They are not as rich and delicious as their competitors. The menu is confusing because when I’m looking at the menu under “shakes and frozen custard” - they say “soft premium 100% Canadian dairy ice cream” - but when you click on the chocolate shake, it says House-made chocolate frozen custard? I give them points for creativity when it comes to the desserts, but I’m not a fan of custard and I wish they would replace the custard with ice cream. Atmosphere was OK, I went at lunchtime and Union Station is always busy at lunchtime. They have a bar where you can get alcoholic beverages, so that’s a nice option. They had a very pleasant and dedicated employee who found a table for me, and he was working diligently at clearing garbage from tables, so they’re very lucky to have that guy.

Google
1st time here in Washington DC and thought I would try a new restaurant like the Shake Shack..I have to say the meat is good and juicy and the overall meal is great thru and thru. The lemonade is very good too. Next time you are here try it

Google
I had no pictures of the place but bro the fryers are so dirty there are crusty left for months fries in there (you can see it while waiting for your order) and WHEN YOU ENTER, IT REEKS OF LIKE A PUBLIC RESTROOM SMELLS LIKE PEE ALL OVER THE STORE. I only went for the Dubai chocolate drink. Yikes!!! Union station is so pretty but I wish the management takes care of the place considering they handle food. I debated drinking it but still did coz it’s $10. Never again.

Yelp
I have eaten at this specific Shake Shack at least a half dozen times, probably more than that. I write to report it is exactly as to be expected, which is good. It's like any other Shake Shack. It is busy, full of travelers, with a tiny bit of loitering by others (that is a descriptive statement, not a normative one; it is merely to inform others so they can calibrate as to their comfort). The speed of service also is commendable. The operation functions as it ought. I commend them for the accomplishment. It is not easy to keep things going day in day out.

Yelp
Horrible experience. I put a photo with my first order. I got there and they handed me the bag. There were 2 fries and a burger in there with 1 side of cheese. I ordered cheese fries with an extra side of cheese. I also ordered the new truffle fries. When I tell you...the attitude I was met with when trying to get my actual order was ugh...I don't experience this kind of customer service at the other location. SMH. I ordered a second order, but this time just fries from the kiosk. My video shows you that I ordered just fries and ended up with cheese fries. 2 orders wrong in the same day. I just left with the incorrect order bc this is crazy. Plus I don't want to be met with an attitude again.

Yelp
This is a very based store, my friends were complaining a bit but I don't care. I liked my burger

Yelp
Shake shack never disappoints. The six-piece nuggets were absolutely delicious--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The fries could use a bit more seasoning, but still some good fries. the sunset lemonade was THE BEST! i love the flavor! Service was pretty good, and for ambiance they have straws, forks, spoons, mayo, pepper, ketchup, everything you need to make your meal good.

Yelp
Third visit at this location. I'm writing a review to document the fact that if you order off the app, YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR YOUR FOOD At the counter. I waited like an idiot while my tasty burger and fries was turning into a cold blob. Such a bummer. Food (5/5): I'm such a huge fan of these cheeseburgers! I love the flattop crispy patty and streamed bun. I've gotten an avocado bacon burger with crispy onions and this is a decadent sandwich! There's so much flavor in this sandwich! I love it! Other than the truffle burger (which I'm waiting to come back) this is my favorite. Atmosphere (3/5): crowded, dirty, with lots of homeless folks wandering around. Not sure that they even clean up or police the area. Service (3/5): Servers seems super grim and not very friendly.

Yelp
The food is good (standard Shake Shack) but the rest of the experience isn't. I often order ahead, and the order is either late so I have to wait around, or it's too early so sitting there getting cold (like, yesterday I was 10 minutes early and the food was already bagged and sitting there). The location isn't very clean. There's often a lot of trash left out on tables that haven't been cleared. The upstairs seating section is enormous but always closed. The cashier often sits down on a stool and looks at her phone between orders, and gives you the minimum attention when you order. Fries are sometimes not seasoned appropriately, like they forgot the salt. They need to put in a little more effort.

Yelp
On a quest for a taste I couldn't find back in Hawaii, I found myself at Shake Shack in Union Station. The allure of something different was too strong to resist. The restaurant's open concept design immediately caught my eye, offering a clear view into the kitchen. Watching the staff bustling and preparing meals added a layer of transparency and reassurance about the cleanliness and orderliness of the place. While the kitchen and ordering area were spotless, the seating area presented a mixed bag. Most of it seemed well-maintained, but a few neglected spots suggested a lapse in the otherwise meticulous upkeep. The highlight of the visit was, of course, the classic Shackburger. It was a delightful surprise, skewing towards the saltier end of the flavor spectrum - a trait I personally relished. However, I could see how this might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially for those with milder palate preferences. In summary, Shake Shack at Union Station offered a solid, enjoyable meal, with the ambiance and cleanliness mostly hitting the mark. It's a decent choice for anyone in the area with a burger craving, as long as you're in the mood for a bit of a salty kick.

Yelp
Standard Shake Shack menu and extras. Nothing special except a cool patio location inside Union Station. Lots of choices in Union Station, and this is one of them. Nothing special.

Yelp
Being that all Shake Shacks follow the same model. This review is pretty consistent from location to location, just some minor tweaks, We visited here with the Key Clubbers from various locations in New York State. Some students told me that they never heard of Shake Shack.... WHAT!!! OMG... Please don't tell mew that you have never had a Shake Shack burger... Please! This incredibly tasty piece of meat (or chicken or mushroom) with cheese on their signature bun is nothing less than awesome. It's all about the taste, and a Shake Shack burger comes with plenty of it. Even they're "shroom' burger was a tasty fried breaded mushroom with cheese on the same signature bun, or as their menu says: Crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce™." It was awesome. The team members in all locations are always smiling and friendly and I can not imagine the pressure that they go through. Their locations are well positioned and always busy. People are just happy to be here. Shake Shack is always and amazing experience. They definitely have something for everyone here. Danny Myers knows the audience and how to present to them. KUDOs to Shake Shack!

Yelp
I waited about 15 minutes for the shake shack burger. Yet somehow it was ice cold. I figured out why: the meat was so undercooked that I had to throw it away. This was my first and last time coming to this location.

Yelp
Good custard. Bad presentation. Fast service. Odd atmosphere at best, but a good last resort

Yelp
My first ever Shake Shack experience. Am I a true DC resident now? The burgers rock, the fries are much better than I've heard, and the tiramisu shake was so tasty. This particular location is inside Union Station, and it needs a bit of a facelift (empty ketchup containers, dirty spaces, etc) but the food rocks. Glad to come here!

Yelp
Worst customer service!! I asked for a refill on my lemonade because it says online that I am allowed to get a refill and they refused to do so. They said at this location specifically, that they aren't allowed to give lemonade refills. I went back showing them what it says online and the manager refused again. Won't be back at this location.

Yelp
Hmmm I guess I would call this place last minute, I'm starving, about to pass out, so hungry, the closest eatery to me. I couldn't take a step further I was so woozy, I practically slithered into the place, lol. They had about 15 people working behind the counter, and there was only one customer with a small order in front of me, and it still took them almost half an hour to fry 6 little chicken nuggets. I have never heard of this place and it will be my last visit to any location ( it seems franchisey). Interestingly enough I thought it looked kinda gloomy, and dark ( it might have been my dark shades who knows, lol). The nuggets were piping hot little pieces of cholesterol, artery clogging, heart attack inducing, and alleged chicken. They tasted salty as hell and as though they were soaked in grease for a week prior to being fried in grease, lol. They were very moist and tender, but everything else ruined it for me. I had to run to Walgreens to make sure I survived the train ride home without any illnesses. I'm giving them a very generous 3 star, because they had an area outside of the eatery where you can either people watch, or look at the beautiful Christmas tree facing it. I had the best seat in the house and I'm feeling the spirit. I can't even eat the rest of the food, but I would never feed that to my dog. I usually bring my baby a snack but this stuff would kill him immediately. Anyway, do I recommend, yes if you are my worst enemy, lol. Chow down!!! I personally can't handle that kind of food. Most people I saw eating the food didn't appear very healthy. Had they been sitting outside when I was determining where I was going to eat, that would have definitely deterred me from eating there, even though I was starving. If I passed out at least I'd get an IV and not what I ingested.

Yelp
***3.5 Stars*** Ahh, Shake Shack. I keep trying to fall in love with you, but for some reason I just can't. BUT... I will say that this location has been better than every single location that I've tried on the west coast thus far. And it makes perfect sense as the East Coast is where Shake Shack originated. I needed a quick bite before hopping on the bus to Philadelphia. Union Station has some decent options for fast food, but none of them really seemed too appealing. So, I ended up circling around back to Shake Shack. One thing that I can say is that they keep this location pretty spotless. It was very clean and I witnessed the staff cleaning diligently after people left. It's also bright and spacious with two floors of dining. This place seems to stay busy but the line moves pretty quick, and service at the counter is very efficient. Ended up ordering to Shackburger with crinkle fries and a cookies n' cream milkshake. When my food got delivered, it looked picture perfect. Presentation was on point. But after biting into the burger, I was left lightweight disappointed. Where the ef was the seasoning? The burger patty was bland. Clearly, someone forgot to season up the burger patty. Luckily the veggies were fresh and it kind of helped to make it taste better but... yeah, I'mma need y'all to at least toss some salt and pepper on that thang next time. Took a bite out of the fries and the center of them were lukewarm and almost doughy like. Kind of like they had been frozen, which they probably were. It's a fast food joint, so this is to be expected. My gripe was that they weren't cooked all the way. Serving me undercooked fries? No, no baby. Now, that milkshake though?! Oh yeah... THAT was definitely hittin'! It was nice and thick too. Loved the shake. Despite the blandish burger patty and the undercooked fries, it was actually pretty good. I mean... it wasn't no In-N-Out Burger or anything (I'm sorry, I had to say it), but... still decent. I'd actually come back here again to have another meal. But hopefully, the burger will be seasoned and the fries will be cooked all the way through.

Yelp
While waiting for a train at Union Station. We stopped on to get shakes. There are 3 self serve kiosks so we ordered on one of them. No one works the registers but there were at least 6 employees behind the counter. There were more in "the back". While waiting for 2 milkshakes, we noticed at least 3 of the employees standing around doing nothing. After about 15 minutes of waiting, my son went to ask for a status. At that point, they "found" our order and we got our shakes about 10 minutes later. It wasn't exceptionally crowded so there was no good reason for the wait.

Eunwoo B.

Yelp
Tried their new Korean bbq burger and specially seasoned fries. The burger was meh at best. The sauce had a forgettable flavor and the fries weren't interesting. Was it just a marketing gimmick? I'd say, best space for eating your food inside Union Station because they have a seating area outside the shop and enjoy the historical interiors of the station.
google avatar

Rosemary J.

Yelp
Great environment, free water, clean space. If you need a place to eat or a sweet treat in the form of lemonade or a milkshake definitely stop here.

Justin E.

Yelp
Is this the worst shake shack of them all? When I order there, it takes 30 minutes and I only get it when I ask where my order is. When I order online, they always forget at least one thing in my order. The staff are the opposite of helpful. The place needs a new manager.
google avatar

Javan H.

Yelp
I was already planning to come here for lunch, but after receiving a coupon code after a Yelp review for the one in Baltimore, I went ahead and used it. My burger and fries were just as good as last time, with my food, ordered online, waiting for me on the rack. No complaints here! It's busy for good reason.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Shake Shack is close to my heart because I remember going to the original at Madison Square Park in NYC back in the day. Literally a shack in the middle of the park and the lines were long. Tough location being in the heart of Union Station, so they have to hustle. The employees seemed a little overwhelmed and confused with many orders. I received the wrong one, but it wasn't a big deal. Plus I had to catch my train. Still, I hope this isn't the norm? As for the food, typical Shake Shack and what was expected. Just wish the items were correct. No hate on the Shack, this location just had struggles at the time and threw an incomplete pass.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
I generally am a big fan of Shake Shack but the Union Station one does not seem up to par. My French fries were chill and not in a good way. That alone was not satisfying. Also, the restaurant just did not seem clean. Maybe Shake was incredibly busy but it was not their best effort.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
Don't think you can go wrong with Shake Shack if you're look for some good food after taking your Amtrak trip or about to go board your train. Good quality burger and fries. If you're feeling spicy, try the limited time Hot Ones sandwiches. As an avid Hot Ones fan, this delivered.

Sarah D.

Yelp
The hotdogs that I get are usually burnt black and the hamburgers are not fully cooked. You can get ecoli if burgers are not well cooked

Jeramy T.

Yelp
I placed an order for delivery of 15 items and paid 161.53. Out of 15 items, 6 were missing. I called the Union Station store and tried to resolve the issue but no one answers directly and when you follow the prompt to speak to a manager, their "message quota" is at capacity. How does someone get a mobile order resolved when something goes wrong? Not a fan of Shake Shack. Let's see if this gets someone's attention because I'm owed $37.54. UPDATE: Shake Shack did in fact reach out and resolved the issue by refunding the order. I appreciate the follow up and resolution.

Yelp
This was my last stop before I was going to hit the road before heading back home. I needed a quick bite to eat and, sorry Pittsburgh, but I don't get to partake in Shake Shack very often. This location is inside Union Station among the hustle and bustle. Ordering, as we all know, is fairly fast and uncomplicated. Place you order and just wait, nothing else you can do...but people watch. This location also has an entrance that goes out onto the street, so people watching is almost guaranteed. It is also multilevel, If you want some good people walking sit on the second level that overlooks the whole of Union Station. My food took a bit to be prepared, but I wasn't worried that meant it was fresh. I went with the single Shack Burger, order of cheese fries, and lemonade as my drink. The fries were amazing, as always, and the cheese is just like a little extra added bonus. Of course I devoured the burger, don't shame me here, I added some mustard and mayo to mine. I know, the sauce is great, but I wanted a little extra taste to it. Staff were on top of their game here with taking the order, preparing the order and keeping this spot clean as a whistle.

Brenda C.

Yelp
How can a burger place not have hamburger. Curious minds want to know. Place was dirty. No signs were posted stating they ran out. You have to wait in line to be told they don't have it. Very disappointed
google avatar

Laura W.

Yelp
I generally enjoy Shake Shack but this meal was definitely short of the typical quality at other locations. The positives: -lots of seating -high chairs readily available -the fries were actually some of the better ones I've had from Shake Shack. These were crisp, lightly salted, and the portions as large. I typically don't care for their fries because often I find them unsalted and limp, but these were good. -I got chicken nuggets for my son and although he didn't eat more than 1 1/2 nuggets, I tried one and they were crisp outside, tender inside. Six were in the order and each was pretty small, so I'd recommend an accompaniment if you go the nugget route. The negatives: - long line and very long wait for food -don't quote me but I i believe they have a condensed menu -my burger was awful. The patty was dry and burnt. I asked for shack sauce and they must have used an eye dropper to put the tiniest dab of it on. I would not return to this location. In fact, I wish I would have entered Union Station from a dIfferent eNtrance so I could have caught CAVA,Roti, Chopt,or even pot belly. I don't frequent this area much so I didn't know. Now I do for the future.

Yelp
Stopped here for a bite to eat with my union brothers after a long day of meeting with various California politicians. Being from California, I'm a die-hard In-N-Out guy. One of my union brothers said I had to try Shake Shack. Man, I'm glad I did. I ordered the SmokeShack and bacon cheese fries. It's a different taste, but delicious. Definitely can't wait to have it again, and I just found out there's one 20 minutes from me. My only issue with Union Station one was that every single one of the hand sanitizer stations was empty. Great food, though.

Yelp
This past Saturday evening (January 21 2023), I chose to order and consume some food from inside the Shake Shack location of union station metro of Washington DC (that is on Massachusetts avenue). I chose to have the shack stack ( an angus beef cheeseburger with "shack sauce" coupled with a crisp fried portobello mushroom with muenster and cheddar cheeses) lettuce tomato with cheese fries and a small rootbeer. The food was appetizing and was luckily given to me in a generous portion size for the price I paid, plus the employees I interacted with for ordering and receiving my food were polite.
google avatar

Mercedez J.

Yelp
Decided on SS for lunch today while WFH because why not, it's Friday and I wanted to treat myself. I ordered the Bourbon Bacon Chedder Chicken sandwich and the Oreo Funnel Cake Shake. All in all, the food was good. The sandwich was the perfect size, flavorful and juicy. The shake was also good, but in my opinion way too sweet. I'm fully anticipating a stomach ache if I actually even finish it. It's 16 ounces plus all the chocolate whipped cream so I think it would be more enjoyable in a smaller size...said no one ever , but in this case I think it rings true unless you have a major sweet tooth.

Yelp
Food was good!! I love shake shack and had never been to this location. Employees were so sweet- but I removed stars because there were multiple bits of hard plastic in both of my boyfriend and I's shakes:(

Claire M.

Yelp
I left my phone at this Shake Shack on accident and they safely stored it in the back so no one stole it. Mark and his team are the absolute best and so is their service!! This is my DC Shake Shack of choice!
google avatar

Evan G.

Yelp
Shake Shack at Union Station in DC is a great option for delicious burgers and much more when you are hungry and need something quick. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need. Good overall experience every time that I have been here.

Les F.

Yelp
The sugar cookie milkshake is gross! The burger was ok. The location is nice. Service was ok.

Jim Nichols N.

Yelp
It's was busy and the girl at the register was very unfriendly. The place looked dirty and no hand sanitizer was available. The food was decent but when we finally received our order everything was mixed up. It was crowded with limited seating and yet they had the upstairs dining room closed off. Next time I'll choose a different Shake Shake location.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Nasty cooks eat chips while they cook your food and staff is more concerned with closing. I wish I never tripped these clowns.

Dee R.

Yelp
Terrible workers, rude ,bad experiences, doesn't try to give your own food when u ask about it.Will have you waiting extra long .Don't recommend for anyone
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
Bottom Line: A little chaotic and perhaps lacking in service but a darn good cheeseburger. I'm not sure what makes Shake Shack's signature burger, the Shack Burger, so good but I really enjoy it. You can get a multiple patty burger but I always stick with the single and find the meat is savory, the tomatoes juicy, the lettuce crisp and the cheese melty. Yum. I'm not a fan of the crinkle cut fries so I skip those but I'm sure others will enjoy the fries and other menu items like hot dogs, shakes, soda, wine and beer. This location is located inside Union Station on the main level. I like the location because there is lots of good people watching weather you sit downstairs or upstairs
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Shake Shack came to the LA area a few years ago. I remember going to the West Hollywood when it first opened and was super impressed. Since then I've been to several in the LA area and even one in Milwaukee but this DC location is the first time I went with double patties and double cheese. And excuse me for speaking Californian but this burger was no In-N-Out Double Double! I never thought I would say this but it was way too much cheese and way too much meat. The burger was just too much period. Fries were fine as was the service. But the best thing about this location was the location. Sitting on the outer area of the restaurant and being able to people watch and admire the architecture of the train station is pretty epic. Maybe next time I'm in DC, I'll give this location another chance but I'll make sure to stick to a single patty.
google avatar

Damien K.

Yelp
I've been to a few of the Shake Shack locations a number of times. They make solid burgers, great quality toppings, and seem to deliver a very consistent burger. I do enjoy their crinkle cut fries. I recommend the plain fries rather than the cheese fries. What you need to make sure to get is the frozen custards (they are awesome) My only issue is portion to cost. Your getting everything really nice quality, but it isn't going to come cheap. Not a horrible value, but not a steal. As for this location, they seem to have ample seating even during lunch or dinner rush. Two floors for places to eat and you could always go somewhere else in the station to eat your meal. No complaints here, and my kid loves it as well.

Mary M.

Yelp
Worst Shake shack location that I have been to. Not clean, super slow (took 20 mind for my order and almost missed my train!) Fries were so greasy and the taste of whatever oil was not fresh.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
I've been to a few of the Shake Shack locations a number of times. They make solid burgers, great quality toppings, and seem to deliver a very consistent burger. I do enjoy their crinkle cut fries. I recommend the plain fries rather than the cheese fries. I typically order the Chick'n Shack but felt like deviating from my norm while i was out of town and visiting this location. Ok, admittedly the expensive burger was very good!!! I had the double Smoke Shack and I had lettuce, tomato and onions on it which made the burger super tasty. I will have to go back to back sure it wasn't a fluke. The service was pretty good as they cook your burger when you order it so it took about 15 mins. This location is great if you are on the Metro or Amtrak.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
The Smokeshack burger my husband and I tried was very average, not as good as a 5 Guys burger. Not a big fan of the crinkle cut fries. The Milk Bar shake I tried had a strange flavor. Not impressed with my first Shake Shack visit.

Yelp
Rude employees. Poor service. Dirty condiment area. I stopped here to pick up a take out burger and fries for dinner. When I arrived, there was one person ahead of me and two people waiting on orders. I ordered a plain cheeseburger, fries and a coke. I saw my burger come off the grill and placed on the shelf where it sat for 15 minutes getting cold. There were at least six employees behind the counter, but only three appeared to be actually working. After seeing my burger sit for 10 minutes, I mentioned to one of the employees that if that was my burger, I wanted a new one cooked that would be hot because it had been sitting getting cold. He heard me, looked at me, didn't say anything and walked away to start shooting the bull with another employee. When someone finally decided to assemble my order after 15 minutes, I again said I wanted a hot burger. I was mocked by the girls behind the counter. I again said I didn't want a cold burger and a guy who said he was the manager said "so do you want a refund?" Me: "no, I just want a hot meal." He tells me if I want a new burger, I'll have to wait 15 minutes. He then throws my fries into a bag and sets it aside to sit and get cold for 15 minutes while I wait on the new burger. I at this point start to lose it and he tells me he'll get a new burger. I get my "new" burger and like an idiot I don't check it immediately. When I got home a few minutes later, I discovered that my burger was ice cold. They took the cold burger I had refused from behind the counter, shoved it in a box instead of the white paper envelope and gave it back to me. So I ended up with a cold burger, fries that were hot, but tasted like old oil and a medium Coke for almost $17.00. I live in DC. I go through Union Station every day. Maybe the employees just assume you can be really crappy to tourists because they won't he back, but some folks actually live and work downtown and won't go back to patronize restaurants with crappy food and/or service. And yes, I did tip when I paid if you are wondering.

Yelp
Shake shack is great. Love burgers and hot dogs. Always get your shake malted, cookies and cream is my favorite. 4 stars is for this location having difficulties with orders and personnel in the store including homeless loitering

Yelp
I complained about my 3/4 filled up milk shake and an employee told me that the manager made my milkshake and that it was only required to be filled up to the top burger logo (3/4 of the cup). completely ridiculous and disappointing; I have never had this experience before

Yelp
Visited this location at Union Station, my first Shake Shack experience. It was crowded, but the staff was quick and made the line move quickly. I ordered the Shack Stack to try something new-- it's a single patty with a deep fried, cheese-stuffed portobello mushroom on top. It was absolutely delicious. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly cooked too. I definitely wasn't disappointed.

Yelp
Not impressed. We were waiting for a our tour to begin and we decided to have dinner while we waited. SS is right on the left hand side once you enter Union Station. Super convenient, but if it is a busy weekend or just plain busy, be prepared to wait. There is a small dining area downstairs, but if you go upstairs, there are some additional seating (there is an elevator available too). The bathroom is also upstairs and the code to get into the bathroom is on your receipt; otherwise the public restrooms are in the station (women's at Gate G). I made a mistake in ordering a Shroom burger thinking it was a burger with mushrooms on top. NOPE, it's an actual portabella mushroom deep friend that looks like a burger. GRRR, silly me, I didn't read the menu correctly. The burger was ehhh but then again I'm a meat eater. I begged my husband to buy me another cheeseburger in which he did. The cheeseburger was just OK to me. Nothing special in my opinion. The crinkle cut fries were excellent though and I enjoyed them. Super crispy! All the condiments are downstairs (non upstairs) as well as drinks/ refill. You have to ask for refills behind the counter. Also if you dine upstairs there are some games for the kiddos and even for the bigger kiddos to pass the time.
