Shake Shack Vernon Hills

I want to be as honest on this review as I am on all my other reviews. My first time here i was excited as we were about to have shakes and burgers for dinner after a long day of work in town here. We walk in and notice theres no one to take your order so its all done on a kiosk. Not a big fan of those. In my opinion you cant put that you'd like your burger cooked a little extra. Anyways I wave over what looks like the manager and he said "may I help you, I said yes this is our first time here who takes our order. He points 👉 to the kiosk and said to order over there and walked away. RED FLAG ALREADY. I thought he would be more friendly and helpful as a first time customer and say well , welcome to Shake shake if you need any help let me know or tell us of any specials. So we grabbed a number took it to the table and when it finally came it looked incredible, till half way through we both realized our burgers were raw as seen in my photos. Mind you $43 for burgers 2 fries, and 2 drinks and worked hard all day in was not happy. Took it to the same person the manager and he said , oh wow yeah that looks medium raw. If I get a response from my review its most likely going to say sorry about my experience hope to see you again next time. Never a solution or a gift card to replace both dinners. So thats my story and good luck to those who enjoy raw meat.

I went after lunch time there is so dirty on every table and floor. I ordered from kiosk it was so easy.Chicken sandwich is so good than I expected.I never chicken sandwich here before.For the dubai chocolate shake it was great 😊.in my opinion vanilla ice cream in shake it was too sweet.🍬

Been to shake shack a handful of times. The food is fresh but I was pleasantly surprised with the chicken sandwich, very tasty. The Parmesan fries were good but the cheese fries leave a lot to be desired. American cheese on cheese fries is crazy work

I got a grilled cheese that looked amazing on the menu but when it came out it was smaller then the card I paid for it on. The Cheeseburger my friend got had a larger tomato then the actual bun and the double patties tasted like the dirt I wiped off of my shoe on the way in. I got the new chocolate that tasted fine but not worth the price. $50 for a chocolate shake, a grilled cheese the size of a half dollar, and a cheese burger that not even SpongeBob SquarePants would serve. The staff was cool though, they said a nice goodnight on my way out. Great Staff, terrible food. I think my dog would get sick eating from there.

i received my burger raw and cold. i ordered through doordash so i couldn’t get another burger (i did get a refund) but unacceptable nonetheless

I’m extremely disappointed with our recent visit to this Shake Shack location. Shortly after eating a burger with bacon and pickled peppers, my girlfriend became severely nauseous and started vomiting within an hour. Whether it was improper food handling or storage, something clearly wasn’t right. What made the experience even more concerning was the overall cleanliness of the facility. The bathrooms were dirty, multiple things were out of order, and the level of sanitation did not reflect what you’d expect from a restaurant that should be held to high health standards. Cleanliness in visible areas often reflects what’s happening behind the scenes, and that’s worrying. Many restaurants in this area do an excellent job maintaining proper health and safety standards, which makes this experience even more disappointing. We will not be returning to this location. Very upsetting and not worth the risk.

I gave four stars only because pricing is similar to Five Guys. The food came out fairly fast and was good, the burger was seasoned nicely, not too bland or salty. The fries were crispy and hot all the way through. I also received a free shake with my order. I’m guessing the reason was for my first time eating there but, the shake was also good. I’d def recommend for a quick bite with friends or casual date. Staff was nice and pleasant. Clean establishment overall. I will return to try other items served.

Root beer float did not taste right. The pomegranate drink was funky too. They forgot the tomato on the chicken sandwich. The burger was good. It was clean. We would not return there.

They got me with their marketing for the Dubai chocolate Shake & free chicken sandwich with purchase. The quality of their chicken is amazing, always moist on the inside & crunchy outside. The chicken sandwich still lacks flavor, though each individual piece is wonderful. The Dubai shake ($10 & change) is not worth the hype. I couldn't even finish it. Chocolate is much better. Like many have said, this is an overpriced burger joint. Long waits to get food. The order keosks are filthy! Not sure why it bothers me that the take out orders aren't covered up. There was too much pollen flying around in Chicago & I wish it was covered up. Also they added a drive thru window and it screams hazard Wowza. Seems like I had more opinions about this place than I thought. It's good but not enough to justify getting it without the coupon deals. There is an Instagram worthy sign on the wall though

Truffle season is upon us once again. I will not fall for that marketing gimmick this time. I did order and eat a veggie burger. While obviously not beefy/ tasting, I did enjoy the texture of the burger, and the presentation with the bun and fixins was quite nice. It was "almost" like eating a burger. I added avocado and that added extra creaminess. Next time I'll leave off the cheese.

This shack has been getting progressively worse.... I have three shacks all the same distance from me, and the Vernon Hills location ranks third..... Every time I go in there to eat its dirty..... Employees seem disinterested.... This time all the food was cold...... I don't think even Jon Taffer himself could help this group.... Off the list....

I haven't had Shake Shack in forever and thought I'd try it again. Now I remember why I don't go here. Bottom line is it's an overpriced burger place without the quality. If it's expensive and good I don't mind but mediocre food for that price I'll skip. We ordered on a kiosk because that is recommended unless you're using cash. We dined in so we had the food delivered to our table. The only good thing about the meal was the fries. I love a good crinkle cut fry. They weren't soggy each bite had a nice crunch to it. The burger didn't do it for me. I'm not sure what sauce the shack sauce is but it doesn't taste like anything so the burger was kind of bland. The lemonade and Arnold palmer were very watered down and I'd recommend saying no ice because you get like 3 sips and that's it with how much ice they put in your cups. The establishment was semi cleaned a few tables needed to be wiped off but it was nearing the end of the night so I guess maybe they were waiting to clean. But again I'll go somewhere else just wasn't for me.

Great food, done well. Stopped in for lunch while running errands in the area. Interior was clean and well-maintained. Employees were very friendly and helpful. The group in the kitchen seem to really be enjoying themselves as they worked. Food came out relatively quickly, and everything was exactly as ordered. My burger was juicy, flavorful and the toppings were fresh and crisp. The crinkle cut fries were crispy but otherwise lackluster. No real complaints - only a wish that they had a true drive thru. They have an order pick up window for those who order ahead on the app.

I sure would hate to try to feed a family for this restaurant even though the food is excellent. It's so out of range for the average American and we're not talking. The McDonald's crowd were just talking the hamburger enjoy crowd. I can't complain about the food, but if I try to feed a family of four here, it'd be $100 or more

Wonderful staff and great food. I've only had their "chicken shack", which is their chicken sandwich, and that has me coming back for more. The chicken piece itself is massive and delicious.

This location is very spacious and has a window for online pickup which is convenient so you don't have to park and get your order. You can order at the counter or on the tablet. I got the truffle burger and truffle parmesan fries. Burger was decent . I enjoyed the truffle sauce. Fries crispy but overly salty. There were a decent amount of unclean tables and a messy bathroom when I came here for a quick dinner.

Shake Shack. It seems you're either a true fan or don't get it. I fall in between these two camps. The burgers and fries are good. Not amazing. Not awful. But consider I don't eat burgers out often. When I want a good basic burger, I head here and get one smothered in extas - like bacon avocado. Then it's a true meal. The self check-in can feel like a maze on the screen. But you'll figure it out. I think the shining star of Shake Shack are the SHAKES. I know. Crazy, right? It's even in the name. The shakes are shamelessly good. Personally, I like vanilla. I just can't help myself. But if you come here for lunch and don't grab a shake, you only have yourself to blame.

Polite cashier very disappointed in prices way too expensive very disappointing 40 bucks for a meal disappointment and the way she said we had to put her own condiments on the food. My opinion I probably would never show up to this place again. The only positive thing is they got nice workers But unless I become a millionaire, I'm sorry I won't go back here.

I was super surprised by how low the overall rating average was for this Shake Shack. The food was delicious, particularly the cheese-stuffed mushroom served as a burger. We came for lunch on a weekday and our service was quick and friendly. I think the pricing is about average for this kind of fast food (I'm comparing it to Culver's in my mind). We had no complaints.

Cookies and cream milkshake gets two thumbs up! It was thick and the flavor was spot-on. At around $6, it was pricey for the size, but ok for the occasional treat. The rest of the menu doesn't appeal to me, as it's just burgers and fried chicken. If they offered grilled chicken or any other healthier option, I'd return for a meal. Otherwise, this is a good option for a tasty shake.

food was very good but very sloppy. the food came fast and was hot. BUT DO NOT ORDER LETTUCE WRAP. it is slopped together and they forgot the cheese. they added way too much lettuce and the wrap was not even a wrap. it was very hard to eat and all messed up. otherwise the food was good other then the lettuce wrap and the drinks were great. but do not order lettuce wrap. hope this helps:)

The fries were stupid bad and the cheese taste smelled and tasted suspect the amount of money that this horrible franchise is able to charge for these unsuspecting consumers is shocking many of this location though look like they can afford it being high income brown and yellow people who somehow like the idea that it's a status symbol to eat at a place like this the food here is a burger that you can basically cook at home nothing special and I've been to Shake Shack several times and I cannot comprehend why people would be willing to spend so much for essentially fast food at a high price

Pretty let down with the lunch we had. The chicken bites were overcooked - hard and dry. The spicy burger was just hot to be hot - not to taste good. The bacon avocado burger had no sauce on it, and both the patty and the bacon were limp. The chocolate shake was average. The fries did come put hot and crispy. And the cheesy fries are worth the little bit extra. The Kiwi apple Lemonade is punch you in the mouth tart but in a good way. And the root beer was enjoyable. The parking lot is plenty big. The guy that took our order was polite and attentive. The rest of the staff didn't seem to want to be there. The bathrooms are moderately clean but just barely. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to go again.

5 stars, AMAZING food. You do have to wait a while because it's all made fresh but the taste makes up for that. It is also not very expensive, I have been to places like it which are way more expensive.

I love Shake Shack. This review is only based on this location and my experience today. I love fried chicken sandwiches, well, all fried chicken in general! And buffalo sauce is one of my favorites. The buffalo chicken sandwich I ate today was quite tasty. Perfectly cooked and perfect amount of sauce. I would say well executed which is not always the case at Shake Shack especially post-COVID. I would definitely order this again! No issues with service. I've not had a problem with this location other than one time when I had to wait an extra 20 min after placing an order on the app. Why 3 stars? Today was the first time I dined-in at the VH location. I was there around noon. It was not busy. No one in line and only 4 tables were occupied. Many of the tables were dirty. I felt given the lack of customers, they could go around and wipe the tables and other areas. I feel this is a problem with Shake Shack. Not just this location. I would not have said anything if they were busy, but they weren't.

Great experience at this location. The food was good but the experience was way better. Gigi the cashier was so helpful, courteous and polite with all huge smile. Really made a long road trip feel like home. Give her a raise!

I mean the food is good. Burgers are rather small for the price. My fries were not real crisp. Hot dog had nice char to it like did it on backyard grill. Just can't get over it's a little overpriced. Also not a fan of when they give you drink and no fountain for refills. Overall. Many other burger places really just as good and better value. --- below they asked me to get in touch so I sent them this review to email they listed. Now a Nj cb if questions on do I have my receipt etc. I didn't ask for anything and don't have a receipt.

Here's what you need to know: 2 words: GREAT SERVICE! Joshua, the manager is as good and as customer focused as any leader I've ever met in a restaurant. He is so warm and engaging and does whatever it takes to make every customer satisfied. This is a very well run shake shack. Orders are quick and accurate, special requests catered to - and everything with a small - just great management! Food is consistently well executed. My family loves coming to this location. Thanks so much to Joshua and his team for running a great ship here. Ambiance wise - clean and well kept. Condiments are perfectly stocked.

Burger was just ok. I'm not salt averse, but it was so salty. I remembered why I hadn't been there in years.

Burgers & fries are fire And they offer a Military discount. Service was great. We ordered take out.

I don't understand the hype. A single hamburger & chicken sandwich, two orders of fries, 1 lemonade and 1 shake - almost $40. I understand that prices have gone up everywhere, but the quality and amount of food was lacking. I had a plain hamburger with a gluten free bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. It was a small sandwich that I could get at most fast food places. Burger was dry. Fries were basic crinkle fries. Mostly soggy. The star of the show was Pomegranate Basil Lemonade. It's the only thing I truly enjoyed from here. The creamsicle shake was not worth the drive and could be gotten elsewhere. Overall: edible food, but for the price and location, much better enjoying almost any other restaurant in the area.

Not impressed, the burger was really small for the price paid. The chicken nuggets were also undersized, dry and tasteless. I won't be back.

Shake is 4 stars (chocolate)--decent size and quality for the price. The cashier 4 stars, friendly. Burger? Not many stars. All this adds up to a generous 3 stars.

Good quality is fine. Service and cleanliness needs work. Drive through pick up ignores you as you wait like an idiot.

I got there and ordered after waiting in line and every time I've gone I've gotten my food at least 5 minutes after ordering. This time I was very disappointed and got my food 20 minutes. I was really upset because it was just the simple cheeseburger, nothing special.

I came in to get burgers and used up my gift card! So I ordered two shake shack burgers and the cashier had a hard time redeeming my gift card, I waited at least 10 mins and I was hungry too! Finally a manager came and she fixed it! The burgers were tasty but kinda dry, it needed all the condiments, lettuce and tomato to balance it out!

Can you believe there is a shake shack here now! I am so excited as I visit mettawa for business and do not have a shake shack very local to me in California. After scoring an invite to the soft opening, I was in heaven. The parking is plentiful here as it's in a large center and full of parking. The staff was so kind and the Kiosk ordering is super easy. They even take mobile pay! I am so very excited to incorporate this as a regular food place for when I visit this area. There are so many options in California for burgers, but this place holds a special place in my stomach. I like it even more than the super popular California chain that one can get easily in and out from. Thanks shake shack for expanding here, now can you please come to Orange County, CA?! Obviously will be returning.

Delicious burgers. Try the Shack Single Stack for a great introduction to this iconic burger joint. The Shack sauce oozes out as you eat and makes the burger extra juicy. Also comes with tomato, lettuce, and cheese. Matt Meyer, the Midwest Area Director, handed out the cool Shake Shack swag! Chris - one of the managers came around the dining area greeting guests and answering questions. He mentioned a new location will be opening Fall 2019 in Schaumburg. You may wonder what's the hype, it's just another burger and milkshake place. It is a chain that offers higher quality, better service than other places, and similar prices (Steak-n-Shake for example). You want a thick milkshake that can still be sipped through a straw? A delicious juicy burger? All made with great flavor and fabulous customer service? This is the place you must visit. Come inside and discover for yourself why there's always a fast moving long line at any Shake Shack. We've also been to the locations in Orlando and Detroit.

Hey Yelpers, This establishment may have been the worst establishment ever! The prices are my golly, expensive. The food is sub par at best and EXTREMELY unhealthy. The floors are dirty as can be, and there is garbage everywhere. The service is bad and a robot computer that took my order asked for a gosh darn tip. Yum! After their grand opening, we waited a while until we visited here. (Knowing how hectic things can get and the crazy lines...) We stopped by on a weekday after lunch rush (around 1ish). Tons of parking spaces and no lines. People standing there are just waiting for their food to come out. If you'd like, you can order from their kiosk and pay with a credit card if the regular ordering line is too long. We didn't have any problems with the staff there. Very friendly and smiley. We ordered a single hamburger (with cheese), smokeshack without the peppers (because who likes peppers? Lol :P ), cheese fries!!!! And lemonade. Shake Shack uses "freshly ground and 100% all-natural Angus beef - no hormones or antibiotics ever. All burgers are served on a non-GMO Martin's Potato Roll." I'm guessing that's why their prices are a bit ridiculous. Definitely not a place to take your family to eat all the time. Lol A family of four's bill can easily be $50-$60 plus. The only complaint I had was their lemonade being SUPER SOUR AF!!!!! Did they forget to add SUGAR?!!!! Do the employees not try the lemonade after they make it?! This was the worst lemonade I've ever had! Unfortunately , we ordered take out and by the time we got to the drink, it wasn't worth turning around to complain to them about it... I hope the shake shack manager reads this and IMPROVE on the lemonade!!! Because it was a waste of money! The burgers were delicious by the way! Very juicy and has good flavor. Definitely add cheese if you get a hamburger! And if you get fries, definitely get CHEESE fries!!! You won't regret it! HOT Crinkle fries with cheese is the best!!!!!! They deserve 4 stars but that sour lemonade knocked it down to 3. The quality of the lemonade we got should've never been served to your customers in the first place.

Excellent shroom burger. Surprised it was breaded. A bit small for the price. Good portion of crinkle cut fries. Fast service after ordering online. Easy drive through window pickup. Looking forward to trying other menu items.

Best shakes hands down and the food is always great. Wait can be long but worth it. The cookies and cream with chocolate ice cream is the way to go.

The food was good. The service was quick. We pre-ordered and our food was ready when we got there. Nice and easy.

Worse & greasiest burger I have ever had ! I'll to the one in Schaumburg. . They are much better .

This is a cool place to go for a quick snack . The food is prepared quickly for its customers. The staff wears masks to protect the customers. The staff was friendly and the wait for take out was not more than 10 minutes. The restaurant is clean and hygienic. I went to find out if they had good shakes. I was correct. Their shakes were delicious, creamy, and filling. There is a vegan option for those who refraining from meat. The mushroom burger was unique and tasty.

At 18 months old, I believe this is the newest Shake Shack in the Chicago suburbs, and located in the large and newish Mellody Farm outdoor shopping mall.  It's also configured with a drive through, which I didn't use on this first visit.  The north suburban franchises, and I assume all of their franchises, have been consistent for us and the burger and all ingredients were tip-top fresh, particularly the bun.  They have a great burger for $5.39 and a Shake Shack is a welcome addition to any neighborhood.

Pros: cheeseburger was delicious (but only a quarter pound, so not a big hamburger at all); fries were tasty - much better tasting than "potatoe-y" Portillo's; service was friendly. Neutral: ambience - a cut above McDonald's but not by much. Culver's feels more comfortable and welcoming. Cons: Milkshakes are poor, probably made from soft-serve ice cream and expensive: $6! - Absolutely not worth it (and this disappointed me a bit because the name of the place is Shake Shack so I figured they'd have quality shakes to bolster their brand). Chick-fil-A's and Oberweis's milkshakes are much better (and real). And the expense - $45 for three people, eating hamburgers and french fries at a non-waitress, semi-fast food restaurant. Reminds me of Culver's only more expensive. I would only return if I didn't have a big appetite and I had a particular taste for their cheeseburger and then I'd consider it a splurge, money-wise.

It's overpriced for the quality and the amount of food that you get. I ordered a half tea half lemonade it came with over 75% ice. The burgers are beyond tiny for 10 bucks. It's ridiculous. The only good thing not even good. Subpar thing about Shake shack is the fries. Overall overrated but the ambience was all right it's just very full in the restaurant and in regards to the service they ask you to tip on the machine.

Burgers are good but nothing to brag about. Like they have the pepper relish as a topping but lack grilled onions so kind of equals out. Their buns get too mushy. Service was quick. Really hate fast food establishments that ask for a tip....even worse when you input your own owner. What exactly am I tipping for? The owner should give me a 20% discount for doing a job he doesn't have to pay someone for :).

Grate place but the waiting time is to long they should really pick up the pace sorry for sounding upset it's just that I wated 10 minutes for my food but my friend only waited around 3

The food is terrific, but that is where my praise ends. From the moment we walked in, we felt like anything but a valued customer. No one was behind the counter to take our order ( even though there were folks back there) so we used the the ordering terminals. Not the easiest to figure out for the first time, but we managed. The couple that entered after us were not as lucky. They waited for someone to come take their order. The crew was too busy chatting to be bothered with customers. It was 1:50pm way past the lunch rush, so there was no excuse that they were too busy. The dining room was a mess. None of the unoccupied tables had been cleaned. In fact I had to go up to terminals to get a wet nap that were used to clean them to clean our table. The pandemic is still around but even pandemic aside, basic hygiene requires you keep your eating area clean. I hate to think of what may be going on behind the scenes if this is what we are allowed to see! I know good help is hard to find these days, but quit blaming everything on the pandemic. There use to be a wonderful black woman who managed this location. She was outstanding with customer service. So much so that I still remember her (unfortunately not her name). Hope she has advanced in the company, if not, bring her back, because without some improvements we won't be returning. Hello Danny Myers are you listening?

Ordered the shroom burger and cheese fries. It never fails. The shroom patty was crispy and oozing with that cheesy goodness. Drool! Oozing cheese always a win in my book. Loved the fact that this establishment thought of every safety precaution you can think of. From outside there are place markers to enforce social distancing. Due to limited entry, before you go in you wait to see if it's okay to go in. They have contactless payment at a few stations that have wipes and hand sanitizer available before use. There's also another hand sanitizer by the indoor dining area too. The drinks and condiments station is closed off for staff access only. Just ask any staff member and they'll get you what you need. It's all there. They made sure they had their gloves on when handing us our drinks. On top of having a parking lot, they have a bike rack, and even designated "dog" parking. Clearly they cater to a very wide range of customers. This is definitely above and beyond. If more restaurants and businesses took the same level of safety precautions I'd feel more safe and comfortable going out of the house.

Delicious. It'll kill you, but you'll die happy. Don't skip the shakes. They'll remind you why you love dairy.

The parking lot here is a little tricky (dead end, to-go window only for app purchases) but the food here is solid. Nice new location!

Absolutely terrible service. Watched people lined up at the pick up window for no help and no sign. 3 people behind the counter no one can take an order. The self-order kiosk payment wasn't working and couldn't get any help. When someone did finally show up, had to cancel our order and was told now they could take an order at the counter. How can the service be so bad with absolutely no one eating in? It's a string of failures. Will never *attempt* to eat here again.

I'm not even sure where to begin on this one. Let's start with the counter service. Was ignored for about five minutes and then I decided to just use the kiosk. Food was OK. I had a milkshake that really wasn't a milkshake it was more like whipped cream with a little bit of liquid is the best way I can describe it. Definitely not worth six bucks. our food was served to us on a used dirty tray. All the tables were dirty And I mean everyone. We looked over six tables before we found one that wasn't as dirty.. Garbage cans are all flowing. Bathroom was disgusting. Fourier of the restaurant was dirty. I can only imagine what the back of house look like. I'll have second thoughts before Id eat here again.
