The Best Restaurants Around Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO), According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Hand-pulled noodle specialist Shake Shake is a standout for its Chinese cooking, with soup, wontons, chile oil-coated noodles, and more. On a first visit, try the chile oil flat noodle, with wide handmade noodles, and a choice of protein like tomato and eggs, ground pork, or braised beef. Cold days call for a bowl of braised beef noodle soup or the house special beef bone noodle soup, and make sure to round out meals here with chile oil wontons. For something less spicy, try any of the tomato egg dishes, which combine braised tomatoes with scrambled eggs." - Rebecca Roland

I’m obsessed with these noodles! We showed up right when they opened, but the food came out fresh, ready, and super fast—no waiting around at all. The appetizers were incredibly fresh and hit the spot. They’re super fresh and have that perfect bouncy chew—I couldn’t stop watching the hand-pulling and even snapped a quick video. Vivi, the owner, is the sweetest, greeting everyone like family right when you walk in. It’s such a welcoming, kid-friendly spot with speedy service that’s perfect for a busy day out with the little ones—as an Asian mom, I really appreciate that! The beef ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender, falling right off the bone in a rich broth, those flat noodles were unreal, the pork dumplings had the kids grinning ear to ear, the lamb was packed with flavor, and the pork belly? So juicy and tasty. Everything hit just right.Love how clean and cozy it is, easy walk from the main street too. Portions and prices were spot on for our group—total steal. We’re definitely coming back soon!

I am writing this review as I sit in the restaurant. This was a “follow your nose“ situation. I smelt the food and found the restaurant afterwards thanks to my salivating taste buds and scents of direction (haha). It’s a good thing I don’t live in the state because I would be here every other day. I got the Szechuan tofu soup, and my dinner mate got the chili noodles with braised beef. One bite each and we were floored!!! As an appetizer, we had the potato salad, which was amazing and unlike what you’d think (thin sliced and tossed in Szechuan chili). The soup was so amazing — I don’t really even have words. Perfect Szechuan spice, amazing egg, noodles: blew my hair back! You can see the staff hand-pulling the noodles which is very impressive! All I can say is come here as soon as you can.

We had such a great experience at Shake Shake Fresh Noodle! Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, and our food came out quickly. We tried the beef rib bone soup with flat noodles and the spicy beef rib flat noodles (dry) — both were delicious. The noodles were super fresh since we could see them being made right in front of us, and they had the perfect chewy texture. Even our 2-year-old loved it and ate a ton of noodles, which says a lot! The service was fast and friendly, everything was very clean, and the atmosphere inside was modern and inviting. Overall, amazing food, great service, and a fun dining experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
This noodle house is slightly pricier than a Chinese restaurant, but the meat quality is excellent and flavorful. We tried a few dishes on our first visit with friends. Our dining experience was very good. The beef rib noodle soup was a highlight. It was fresh and had high-quality meat with a bone. It was super tasty, you must try it. It is something you cannot get at other places, especially in SLO. One suggestion is that the menu items should include a description of what ingredients are included in the dish. For example, the House beef roll contained too much cilantro. It was not to my husband’s liking. Other than that everything we tried was delicious.

Google
Great spot for Chinese eats. The noodles are made fresh, and you can even watch the chef hand-pull them in the open kitchen. The staff were all very friendly, and the service was prompt. I also appreciated the high ceilings, which give the space a bright, open atmosphere. I highly recommend the House Special Soup. While I personally found it slightly lacking in aromatics, the broth still had great flavor. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, and the noodles were wonderfully springy. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We’ve walked by this place a dozen times on our way to nearby restaurants and never tried it out. Maybe the name wasn’t enticing us enough to try it out, the name sounds a bit goofy. On a rainy day yesterday we tried it out. Well, it was a very pleasant surprise. Nothing like great hot food on a cold rainy day. Nicely redone interior (this location has been many other recent restaurant attempts). Very friendly greeting and immediate seating for our larger party of 6. Nice family friendly environment. Wonderful food aromas sure prepared us for a delicious meal. We stayed with dumplings sand wontons which very tender and tasty. Our meal choices were about half noodles and half soups (but or course the soups had noodles too). My lamb and tofu with Sichuan spices was excellent and had a very unique aromatic aftertaste, wonderful. Friendly and attentive service. As a bonus we watched the chefs make the noodles from scratch stretching and pulling a single lump into flat or round noodles in moments and the tossed immediately into the boiling kettle for a few seconds to then be served. Best fresh noodles I’ve had outside Shanghai. Reasonable prices and good hefty portions. Highly recommended. We’ll be back.

Google
TLDR; Shake Shake Fresh Noodle is the best hand pulled Chinese noodle restaurant in not just San Luis Obispo, but San Luis Obispo county. You’d have to drive a few hours to find anything close. Service is just as good as the food (simply excellent), and their prices are fair.

Google
Came in and was seated immediately with a warm welcoming. Within seconds brought water as a starting beverage. To be honest the water was all you need for a beverage… besides a beer. Water tasted soooo refreshing I kid you not. Not that tap water from the sink stuff. The noodles were amazing. Good flavoring and they also had seasonings on the side to adjust your taste. Noodles were fresh you were able to see the gentleman swinging and spinning them like a little show during your visit. The pork dumplings were steamy and just rich in flavor can’t go wrong with that. 100% recommended, not that Panda Express stuff. Real enjoyable and delicious food.

Yelp
The food and services is phenomenal, they are very hospitable and friendly and the taste can't be matched. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to SLO! I got gold beef noodle soup with wide noodles and was extremely satisfied. The meat and noodles were cooked PERFECTLY and had nice flavor. The broth was well balanced and not overly salty. It says spicy but that's because the sauce comes on the side to make it however spicy you want. The restaurant is large, not overly packed with tables and chairs, and brightly lit. I can't wait to see how it looks during the day as front is entirely made up of windows and seems like it would be a great vibe. 10/10. Absolutely hits the spot when missing home, on a long drive, or not feeling well.

Yelp
After a few days of heavy foods, my family and I decided to reset with some good noodle soup and were pleasantly surprised with Shake Shake Fresh Noodle! There was a short wait and a few groups waiting- my group of 3 decided to wait for an inside table but other groups were able to be seated outside in the patio next to heat warmers. They had a QR code at each table and it was pretty straightforward. I was disappointed to see that the potato salad was sold out as I was hoping to have it - we chose instead to have the garlic cucumbers and marinated daikon. The appetizers were ok - garlic cucumber could have used a little bit more seasoning, whereas the daikon could've used a little less. The noodles are where they shine - all three of us had fantastic choices: house special beef bone noodle soup, golden sour & spicy lamb noodle soup and the chili oil dry noodles. Lots of meat, bouncy noodles and flavorful broths! What more can you ask! 100% recommend this restaurant, especially on cold nights or, if you're traveling and need some clear broth to soothe an overwhelmed stomach (we had had too much fried food recently). This hit the spot and we would definitely come again when in the area.

Yelp
Found this place and decided to try it! The restaurant is very clean and modern. The plaza is nice too -- lots of shops around. I didn't realize they close in the afternoon ( not sure what time start closing after lunch) but they reopen at 5PM for dinner. Servers are very nice and friendly! We ordered the chili oil wontons, and they were really good -- flavorful but not too strong like some other places. I also loved sitting by the window while it was raining. They serve water in a nice jar with a lemon slice in( l love their cup!), which was a great touch. A little pricey, but definitely comforting food. I liked it!

Yelp
So good!! We were traveling through and found this spot on yelp. Amazing service, quality of food and clean, open seating. Cute patio and some outdoor seating as well. The dry Chili oil flat noodles were delicious! Beef roll, pork belly and minced pork dishes were all great. I would definitely order the chili oil again. Fun to sit and watch the noodles being stretched by hand. Just wish they had more locations!

Yelp
If you're craving real Chinese noodles in SLO, this is the place to go. It's so hard to find authentic Chinese noodles here, and this spot completely satisfied my cravings We tried the beef bone broth noodle soup, lamb hand-pulled noodles, dumplings, and several cold sides like cucumber salad, shredded potatoes, and sliced radish; everything was absolutely delicious. The noodles were fresh and chewy, the meat was incredibly tender, the dry noodles were rich and flavorful, and all the side dishes were perfectly seasoned. On top of the amazing food, the owner is super warm and welcoming, and the staff are all very kind. They even proactively helped cut the beef into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat, such a thoughtful touch. Great Ambiance, casual entertainment, high ceilings, patio area and open spaces natural sunlight. Overall, a must-try and an easy 5-star recommendation. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I order the chili oil flat noodle with beef rib, amazing flavor! Service was excellent and over expectations! We went at opening and were very quickly seated helped with menu questions and had food within minutes! It quickly filled up. The restaurant atmosphere was cool watching them pull the noodles so quickly! The service staff was super helpful and friendly. It was so good I went back same day since they are closed tomorrow (Monday) I wanted to take some home for my family to try. We live 4 hours away. We visit SLO often. I can't believe anyone could give them a honest bad review!

Yelp
SLO needed an authentic and tasty noodle spot. Shake Shake Fresh Noodle is that spot. Okay, the bone-in beef spicy soup. Get it. The broth has deep, strong, spicy, and fresh flavors. The beef and noodles are also melty, authentic, and delicious. It's such a hearty, satisfying bowl. The marinated, pickled sides are also a must. They are the perfect sweet and spicy complement to the soup. Service? Also a 10/10. So quick and so friendly. They rock here. I am so happy to see Shake Shake in SLO. This town needed this place!

Yelp
Our first time trying authentic Chinese noodle soup and we LOVED it! I have a toddler who is a picky eater but this is the first time she ate EVERYTHING! So now we come here at least once a week lol We met the owner Vivi and she is super nice - gave my daughter delicious Chinese coconut crackers for a treat :) Overall beautiful ambiance and quick service (food comes out in less than 15min) which is a plus when you have a hangry toddler.

Yelp
Chinese hand pulled noodles in San Luis Obispo?! Yes, please. We stayed in San Luis Obispo for our wine tasting trip to Paso Robles and were surprised to find authentic hand pulled noodle soup in the area. It was perfect after a day of drinking :p Ambiance: (5/5) For a noodle shop, this place is surprisingly well decorated with high ceilings, oversized windows, and a patio. Service: (5/5) Definitely more attentive than many other noodle places I've been to. Food: (4/5) The beef roll and beef noodle soup were both solid choices. Beef roll was comparable to many other top noodles place in SoCal. The soup needs a slight more depth though. I'd recommend stopping by if you are in the area. After wine tasting, it really hits the spot.

Yelp
We were walking down SLO and read about this place. It was hard to find the front door. There was plenty of seating. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup and the regular chili oil flat noodle. The chili oil flat noodle was incredible and the noodles are made when you order. Very fresh and quick.

Yelp
This Shake Shake Fresh Noodle is beyond delicious, Vivian, Denny along with the professional staff. The team is professional and kind, extremely knowledgeable about their services and products. I am sorry thankful to have been able to experience their Chinese noodle restaurant. Their place is open and so comforting. BTW to me the food is well prepared with passion of Love...

Yelp
The price of this noodle house is a little higher than other Chinese restaurants but the meat quality was great and very tasty. We came here for dinner. Four of us shared the Chili oil wontons, House beef roll, spicy noodles, the pork belly rice bowl, stewed lamb and carrot noodles, and House special beef rib noodle soup. My husband loved the spicy wontons. I liked the signature beef noodle soup the best. The beef rib was tender and perfectly cooked. It's delicious, but it's a little saltier than I prefer. One negative point was that our flat noodles were a bit mushy and they stuck together. You have to use scissors to cut the noodles. Also, the flat noodles lost their structure and their texture. Therefore, we don't recommend the flat noodles. However, the food here is something you cannot get at other places, particularly in SLO.

Yelp
Food dress super fast service great taste super clean big smiles I had the braised beef the order was placed and 3 minutes later the order was delivered to our table .absolutely delicious and we love this restaurant thank you so much

Yelp
This is the place to be! Everything I ordered was so delicious and is the best Asian food I've had in SLO by far. Being from the Bay Area, it's a little hard to find any good Asian food in the area so this definitely impressed me and brought me back to home! I got the braised beef noodle soup with flat noodles, the chili oil wontons, and the beef roll. The braised beef noodle soup had a flavorful and rich broth and the beef was very tender. The noodles were so good too! The chili oil wontons had most of the sauce on the bottom but dipping it and taking a bite, they were amazing. The wontons were my favorite! The beef roll was good and I liked dipping it in the chili oil sauce from the wontons. Everyone working here is so kind and friendly and the service is so quick. The portions are a good size and everything tastes very fresh. The environment and atmosphere is family friendly, fun, and inviting. Definitely my favorite Asian spot in the area and I can't wait to come back and eat more!

Yelp
Authentic Lanzhou Lamian pulled, twisted, and flung, right before your very [Occidental] eyes, in downtown SLO? Absolutely! Watch Master Noodle makers fling noodles almost into your hungry mouth! Oh Yes please! Authentic Yummy Hui Muslim Chinese food in SLO? Impossible? Not any more... I don't Lie about Lamian.... I watched them fling the ingredients together... Beef Rib, Fresh handmade Flat Noodle, Broth, & Bok Choy...and I then flung it into my hungry mouth. It was beyond good...it was near a cosmic, orgasmic, titulating, culinary, climactic experience! As a longtime culinary expert, with Chinese in-laws, the food here is beyond reproach....and is lightyears beyond the Americanized Chinese eats typical here on our Central Coast. It is as if, a little piece of old SLO Chinatown was resurrected via a time warp. Thank You! 谢谢 Xièxiè ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FINE DETAILs..... Shake Shake Fresh Noodle has handpulled Noodle Masters weaving amazing flat noodles right before your very eyes! Direct from cold Northern China to please your palate & warm your tummy in SLO. WOW, authentic Chinese food in SLO! Who knew? SHAKE SHAKE is in Downtown SLO, in the Creamery building. It is a must! After watching carefully, and then eating carefully, then one may qualify as a Master Authentic Chinese Noodle Eater.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LAMIAN & the HUI MUSLIM CHINESE= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some background information for the Occidentals.... The cuisine of Northwestern China, particularly from the provinces of Gansu, Shaanxi, and Xinjiang, is known for making fresh hand-pulled noodles, or lamian, often in front of customers. These regions also feature a variety of rich meat dishes, primarily beef and lamb, influenced by their large Hui Muslim and Uyghur populations. Hand-pulled noodles (lamian) The preparation of lamian is a spectacle in itself, where a noodle master twists, stretches, and folds a lump of wheat flour dough into long, perfectly even strands in a matter of seconds. Key characteristics: Origin: The modern, popular form of lamian originated in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, and was refined by a Hui Muslim vendor in the 19th century. Regional spread: Hui Muslim families from this area operate many of the lamian restaurants found throughout China. Signature dish: Lanzhou beef noodle soup This dish follows a "five-color" formula: clear beef broth, golden noodles, white radish, green cilantro, and red chili oil. Halal tradition: Due to its Hui origins, lamian is traditionally served with halal-prepared meat, like beef or mutton. Most important of all.... Hand-pulled noodle eating is endorsed and approved by Paul. M.

Yelp
So yum! I'm a sucker for any kind of fresh noodles and these did not disappoint! Had the signature minced pork noodles and the flat chili noodles. Both had great flavors and weren't too spicy. Beef roll was also nice and had pop of fresh herbs. Met the owner who was super sweet. Hoping she can open a location in North County!

Max Z.

Yelp
Incredible service, atmosphere, and cuisine. Really unique flavors and some of the freshest Chinese cuisine I have ever had. Customer service was really awesome and they made us feel welcome. Awesome place for a semi casual dinner. The noodles and appetizers did not disappoint, truelly unique experience. The owner Vivi was a pleasure to dine with and brought great energy. We need more dining like this in Slo. Please help support small businesses such as this one.

Yelp
My thoughts: This is a traditional classic Chinese noodle restaurant that is been around the San Luis bison are through out the up and down of the economy. And any restaurant can survive the harsh business world is A OK in my book. Plus they do serve good Chinese noodle food and maintain a reasonable price. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (2 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean but not up to date. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are below average . 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Chinese noodle food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare in China. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 18 Stars = 72% round up to 3 stars

Yelp
My family went to Shake Shake Fresh Noodles on a Tuesday night, and honestly, it was one of the best meals we've had in SLO. We were seated right away by the super friendly owner, Vivi, who instantly made us feel welcome. We sat out on the patio with the heat lamps going--it was a cool night, so that was perfect. They brought out water right away and even set up a high chair for our baby, which was a nice touch. Ordering is done through your phone, but the food gets brought right to your table, which keeps things easy and relaxed. The food came out fast and everything was excellent. Vivi later told us the menu is inspired by dishes from all over China, which explains why every plate had its own unique flavor. The spicy daikon and cucumber starters were fresh, crunchy, and had just the right kick. The house beef roll was incredible--crispy on the outside, savory and rich inside. We liked it so much we immediately ordered another one. I got the chili oil flat noodles with beef rib, and wow--the rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the noodles soaked up all that flavor perfectly. My family tried the stirred lamb noodles, which had the perfect chewy texture and just the right amount of spice. The golden sour lamb soup and spicy tofu noodles were also standouts. Everything felt like it was made with care, not rushed, but somehow it all came out in minutes. You could tell this place has serious kitchen skills behind it. Having lived in the Bay Area for a while, we've had our fair share of great Asian food, and this spot honestly holds its own. Vivi told us she brought her experience from the Bay down to SLO, and you can really taste it. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming--great for college students, families, or anyone just grabbing a solo meal. If you're looking for something flavorful, comforting, and made with love, this is the spot. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
FUXS GIVEN = 5.0 ******************* Food = 5 We had the flat noodle with chili oil, mine had the beef bone. Delicious. This is what SLO needs, unique flavors. One of the best meals I've had in SLO county in a while. Spicy but not too spicy, noodles had perfect texture and the beef was outstanding. UX = 5 The restaurant looks great. Indoor or outdoor seating. Korean style water at the table. I love the open kitchen and whole vibe of the place. Service = 5 I don't love a QR code menu but they have hard menus on request. Server was efficient and the food came out very quickly.

Kyle F.

Yelp
Serving size was perfect! You also order through a QR code which makes splitting + group ordering super easy and quick. Went on a Tuesday for lunch and it wasn't busy at all.

Yelp
My family has been raving about this place for some time now and we were all able to make it out to Shake Shake tonight. You will be greeted with such a warm and kind staff. The owner is present tending to everyone with a contagious smile. The food is amazing! Best ramen my family has tried. You will not be disappointed. We made the drive from Paso Robles and it's well worth it. The soup's bring such a feeling of goodness and comfort. We will continue to support this establishment. Folks who love what they do and you can't feel it!

Yelp
Doing a redo review for eating here the other day! Highly recommend eating inside rather than ordering takeout. The service is fast and great. We ordered cucumber salad, pork belly rice, house special bone broth beef noodle soup with flat noodles, and mala minced pork dry round noodle. The cucumber salad was well seasoned and marinated with a strong garlic flavor profile. Super refreshing. The pork belly rice is authentic and really tasty! I love how the sauce is soaked in the rice and overall just a great comfort meal. The house special bone broth beef noodle soup with flat noodles was super flavorful. The beef falls off the bone and is so tender and more fatty, but so good! I loved the soup flavor. The mala minced pork dry round noodle was so good! Perfectly flavored and you mix it together before you eat. We ate family style, and highly recommend that way to try more food! Will come again to eat here, rather than do takeout! The restaurant is spacious and has lots of seating.

Yelp
We came here for some Chinese noodles after a day of driving. The beef noodle soup was delicious. This was a good find.

Yelp
Excellent addition to the Central Coast and the best noodles in the area! As a huge fan of hand pulled noodles, we were super excited to find out about this place from our neighbor. We love them so much we came here 3 times within 2 weeks. The first time I was too excited to order that I picked the wrong noodles (not a big fan of small/thin noodles), so we came back 2 days later and tried all the dishes with the big flat noodles, definitely made a huge difference! To set the record straight, it is not the best hand pulled noodles we have had (X'ian Famous Food is still our #1 pick!), but it's in the top 5 overall, and obviously, #1 for this area. Pricing is higher compares to anywhere else we have been, but it's justifiable since there's no competitor for them. The restaurant is always packed each time we go, for a good reason of course. However, the wait has never been longer than 15-20mins. You put your name down on the list, and just stick around waiting for your name to be called. Once seated, just scan the QR code on the table to place your order and the food should arrive within 10 mins or so. Our go to dishes so far have been the garlic cucumber (make sure you add chili oil to enhance flavor), egg and tomato with noodle for our kiddo, and braised beef noodle soup for us. You really can't go wrong with any one of those. The parking lot is free but very small. You have much better chance just parking across the street or find some street parking. The restaurant looks like it used to be some kind of European cafe. When they first opened, there were still cafe style tables and chairs, which we are glad they switched them out for bigger tables and more fitting style. If you're in the area or just craving some great chinese food/noodle soup, I highly recommend this place!

Ely Z.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. Hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in SLO County. The Spicy Minced Pork flat noodle is elite & the beef rolls + chili wontons are Godly. The owner Vivi took great care of us and I'll recommend this spot to everyone I know!

Yelp
This restaurant is where the old bamboo bamboo was located. Very spacious and open place! Quick service and good pricing! The only reason for not giving this place a 5 is that we felt rushed! I get they were busy but it very much felt like they were trying to kick us out but constantly wanting to remove plates and coming by and seeing if we were done. Pork and cabbage boiled dumplings- really good! Great flavor and cook, the dough wasnt too thin or thick and just delicious bites. Braised pork belly noodles- noodles perfectly cooked, the pork belly just melted in your mouth and the whole plate was packed with flavor. If you're looking for simple but delicious food, stop by!

Fo T.

Yelp
Not sure how this place has such a high rating because it's ok. Nothing special compared to most noodle restaurants in SoCal. Maybe it's because there aren't many other noodle restaurants in SLO. Food was just ok. Service was good. My wife and I wouldn't make it a point to return.
google avatar

Yelp
I have lived in SLO county for almost ver a decade and my primary culinary complaint has been that there isn't one damned decent Chinese restaurant to be found...until now. This place is legitimately good. The service is prompt AF, and the casual dining and pricing are just what this college town needs. Thanks to the folks that run this place for merely existing and raising the SLO culinary scene up.

Ron G.

Yelp
Amazing fresh noodles handmade. We had the spicy beef rib flat noodles, beef rib bone soup with flat noodles and wonton shrimp. Everything was delicious with great service. Easy to order with QR code.

Dayle R.

Yelp
Amazing!! Everything went well! We were seated quickly, the staff was VERY attentive and helped us navigate the menu, paying very close attention to dietary restrictions. The food is amazing! Very comforting on a rainy SLO day. We highly recommend Shake Shake Fresh Noodle.

Yelp
First time here so tried just 2 dishes. Pork belly on rice and spicy meat sauce on noodles. Flavor for both dishes are on point. If I may share my feedback, it would be even better if the pork belly pieces are bigger so you can taste the pork texture better. Also add a bit more gravy. The noodle dish is perfect as is. The volume of food could be more. The portion for each dish only feeds half a person and the price is almost $20 per bowl.

Yelp
Such a find on a trip down south. This was a Google luck find, although Google Maps made it a nightmare to locate. (It's on the back side of a pretty lovely foodie Food court with many options from Sushi to crafthouse. Having a mixed group of eaters from Veges to gluten and dairy free, can make finding common eats challenging. This place was incredible. every dish was unique and so tasty. They help modify to make it work for everyone. We entered road weary and grumpy. We all went away chattering filled with the warm glow of unexpected foodie delight!

Yelp
I wish I could comment on the food, but unfortunately, we never made it that far. My family came in to celebrate a birthday, and my daughter had her fully trained medical alert service dog with her. The staff immediately approached us upon entry and said that because we had a dog, we would need to sit outside. We politely explained that the dog is a task trained service animal required for a medical disability and, under the ADA, is legally permitted to accompany her inside. Still, they doubled down and refused us entry. This is illegal. For anyone considering supporting this establishment, please be aware that they discriminate against individuals with disabilities and fail to follow federal accessibility laws. I would not recommend this restaurant and will be reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities. If the owners are willing to have a conversation and seek to remediate the issue, that would be appreciated.

Yelp
Shake Shake Fresh Noodle is hands-down the best hand-pulled Chinese noodle spot not just in San Luis Obispo, but the whole county. You'd be driving hours to find anything that even comes close. The service matches the food--both excellent--and the prices are more than fair.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday for lunch, worker was friendly and quickly showed us to a table and there was the option to order via a QR code on the table but you could also ask for a waiter to help you order. They gave a refreshing jar of ice water with lemon. We ordered the beef rib noodle soup, chili oil flat noodle with beef bone, beef roll appetizer, garlic cucumber, and braised pork over rice. The food came very quickly and was delicious; the portions were "just right," not too much but not too little, and the meat in particular was tender and flavorful. Everything was authentic, especially the hand pulled noodles. Only minor complaint regarding the food was that the bok choy in the braised pork rice dish was cold, and the prices were a bit on the higher side Another issue was that the restaurant was rather hot and there were a few flies that kept hanging around; it wasn't until later that they closed the doors and turned on the AC. They seemed to be trying to combat the problem with an electric fly swatter I saw lying nearby, but with little success

Yelp
I got the numbing spicy minced pork noodle with flat noodles - not spicy at all but really yummy and a pretty big portion! I love the texture of the hand pulled noodles but the sauce in the beef roll was a little too sweet for me. There are plenty of seats and it looks beautiful inside with so much natural light. The way they take their orders is very innovative - everyone can place their own order to the table online. The food comes out very quickly. Everyone who works there is SOOOO friendly, we had such a nice experience here!

Yelp
Right from the beginning we were greeted by Berto (I believe that was his name, I may be wrong) He treated us with the upmost impressive service better than a Michelin star restaurant! Sat down outside, water & condiments were brought to table before I could sit down. We ordered through QR code but server was right there as well ready to take order. Within a few seconds (literally) our garlic cucumber was brought out (10/10) and also our main dishes. We also ordered chili oil wontons to our surprised were incredible like no other (10/10). Pho was amazing (10/10) and the noodle plate was also above any other restaurants we have ever visited. Recommend for anyone and especially those wanting to impress for a date. BTW

Yelp
Ordered the chili oil noodles with pork belly and it was absolutely amazing. Nothing to critique about the dish, all the flavors and textures were exquisite. Will definitely be coming back again! Service was also excellent, everyone was very friendly!

Yelp
I parked across the street with the intention of walking to Goshi. Then, I got sidetracked because I heard a nice Bruno Mars song coming from a different restaurant called Shake Shake. I glanced at the menu, and decided to eat at Shake Shake instead of sushi from Goshi. I ordered the tofu noodle soup with a side of dumplings. They were so good. My noodle was so long that I would extend my arm while grabbing the noodle with my chopsticks and the noodle was longer than that! You can see it on this Instagram video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOZKIcOEpmL/ and they were delicious. I saved half of them to take home for later. They use a QR code at the table to order. It gave me San Diego vibes and reminds me of when I used to have lunch during the weekdays for some noodles.

Yelp
Finally some decent noodles in SLO! And they make their noodles fresh right at the counter. Our table split the potato salad, garlic cucumbers, minced pork noodle, the beef noodle soup, the tomato beef noodle and we got two of the spicy wonton. Don't expect this place to be like din tai fung just fyi. Given the demographic in the area, the flavors are pretty mild. Wish they leaned into the vinegar and spice a bit more but overall good for an Asian restaurant in SLO. Will come Back to try the beef roll in the future. Our total was $150 before tax for four people after a night out.

Yelp
Everything was AMAZING. The food, the service, and speed! Everything tasted so fresh. Do yourself a favor and get the noodle soup. We got the lamb noodle soup and the broth was fantastic. We also got the bone in beef dry noodle and that was great too!

Yelp
I need to give the owners of Shake Shake a Kiss Kiss if you know what I'm saying! Without a doubt, the absolute greatest asian meal I have EVER had in my life! Hot damn the only issue is my American appetite couldn't get enough! Heck, I even ordered the same stainless steel cups they had off amazon for myself! Despite them being packed every time I dine here, they've served every meal in under 10 minutes! Unbelievable. And dont even get me started on the perfectly volumed neo jazz funk on the playlist. If im ever on death row, their dry noodle pork belly will be my final meal. Thank you and PLEASE stay here forever

Yelp
We absolutely loved the beef (short rib) noodle soup (with flat noodles) and their pork + cabbage dumplings/wontons. The flat noodles were so fresh and chewy. The staff are welcoming and the service was quick. Orders are placed via the QR code that's on every table. The space itself is bright and airy. They have nice tables and chairs. Overall a nice place to dine comfortably.

Yelp
Thank god for a new Asian restaurant in SLO. I can see this restaurant becoming the next favorite places to go. As you enter the restaurant, you can see them pulling and making the noodles fresh in house. Our favorites weee the Pork Cabbage Dumplings & Braised Beef Chili Oil Noodles. Everything arrived steaming hot, the way I like it! The flat noodles are amazing, they were chewy and bouncy. The owner is super sweet and friendly, she repeatedly checked up on us. We noticed that there were other guests that have been coming back frequently since the opening to support the business. They offer plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. The restaurant is super cute and can get busy! ig: @cravingswithcat
