What a great little place. The ice cream is amazing very generous in size for the price. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Nice that they had an outdoor seating area with misters so that you can enjoy the ice cream in the heat. Really cools you off.

Gluten free cones and dairy free soft serve options! They take allergies seriously. They have a dedicated gluten free mixer. And the ice cream was fantastic! Absolutely coming back next time we're in town.

Soon to be my go-to dessert spot in greater Phoenix! Some of the smoothest/most creamy dairy-free/vegan dessert I've had. They have a few topping choices for vegans too. A walk up window in a busy section of Scottsdale, there are a few tables outside (covered), but most people were just eating and walking to their next destination . There is free street parking for 3hrs.

Wow, just wow! I got the vegan vanilla soft serve with a gluten free cone and it was the best dessert I’ve EVER had! My husband had a regular chocolate/ vanilla cone and after tasting mine, went back and got the same thing I got too. He doesn’t have allergies like I do and he was blown away by the dessert. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! I wish I could go back there everyday to satisfy my sweet tooth. The staff were very sweet as well!

It was a hot-ish day and after walking around and me hobbling around with an arthritic knee; stopping for some ice cream seemed like the thing to do. It's a walk up location that states that they have organic ice cream. They offer five daily flavors of soft serve: Chocolate, Vanilla, Twist, Strawberry, a non-dairy vegan Vanilla (made with coconut milk), and Lemon Sorbet. My son got a vanilla cone (dipped), my wife got strawberry in a cup, and I got a peanut butter and cookie dough shake. They have some interesting shakes and to get the most flavor, I had to go with the peanut butter. Wow! I gotta say, the organic, vegan ice cream was awesome! I'm lactose intolerant and I didn't need to take a Lactaid pill because it's vegan. And delicious. You never get both, but lo and behold, they sure figured it out. And this place was busy. I was amazed there wasn't another ice cream shoppe in this touristy area. Kudos to Shakes & Cones for putting out a great product that's easy on the wallet. It doesn't hurt that their ice cream is absolutely fabulous!

We love this place! Their soft serve and toppings are organic and delicious. Great customer service too. We went there 4 nights in a row during our recent trip!

Very cute ice cream spot in Old Town! The staff was so friendly, truly amazing customer service. The best part about this place is that they have dairy free ice cream and whipped cream!! The vegan vanilla milk shake with mint chips and coconut based whipped cream was amazing. I don’t know the last time I’ve been able to have a milkshake so this was a super fun treat! Highly recommend!

Wesley and Justin are the BEST! To have servers that take such care with allergy concerns and are just so kind wow we are blown away. Shakes and cones has always been one of our favorites but the service level really blew me and my husband away. Thank you!!

Shakes & Cones in Old Town Scottsdale is one of my favorite spots. They always have genuine, great customer service. It's never the same staff when we visit, but they're always super friendly. It definitely wasn't our first time there, and it won't be the last. One of the best things about this place is the seasonal flavors. We ordered three different items this time, and it was fun to try the new additions to the menu. My matcha shake was thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. I also appreciate that they offer both dairy and non-dairy options, making it easy for everyone to enjoy. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, especially with the outdoor-only seating that adds to the laid-back vibe.

I popped by the shakes and cone tonight in old town. It's a walk up location with a very small amount of seating out front. We enjoyed the peanut butter cookie dough shake. It was very rich and flavorful. In the words of my 13 year old this is Buss'n! We also tired the Biscoff cookie butter shake. It had pieces of biscoff cookies and it tasted like Trader Joe's cookie butter. The kids working there were very friendly and pleasant.

I was walking by and stopped to grab a small cone of vanilla soft serve. Yummy! The soft serve was rich and creamy. The place doesn't have seating inside since it is basically just a window you walk up to, but there are plenty of seats in the surrounding area outside nearby stores. Service was good.

Solid ice cream spot my friends and I happened upon after dinner in Scottsdale. They have outdoor seats and are essentially a window counter. The ice cream sandwhich was good, though the cookies were definitely not freshly baked. My friends had great reviews of the strawberry cheesecake milkshake special! All around they have good, classic soft serve and milkshakes.

Great ice cream place right off of Scottsdale Rd that offers organic soft serve. Tried their Salted Caramel cup and enjoyed it - it's pretty much what you expect when you mix vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and caramel. But the generous caramel syrup does not cheat you on what you're looking for. Very friendly service! It's only an ordering window and outside seating - just order, enjoy and continue with your perusing in town.

Our family loves this spot! Often we will walk over after dinner. Even with an our date night, we head over and share a milkshake or affogato. . My favorite is a peanut butter milkshake with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge mixed in. Always delicious.

My favorite dessert spot in old town! I love going with friends! The soft serve is so yummy and the mix ins and creations are endless! They have one special shake every month and are very accommodating to dietary needs and switching up recipes! It's a cute walk up window and they have outdoor seating!

Went there with my family last weekend. The guy working there asked my young daughter if she wanted a small or regular size, she was confused, then 'guessed' small. They then charged us the same price as a regular. Why even ask without explaining that she would get less for more money? It was very odd, and left us all feeling taken.

Super friendly staff but quality of shakes has gone down significantly. The past couple of times we've gone, mix ins hardly have any mix ins. This was my "strawberry, cheesecake mix in", just vanilla ice cream.

Honestly the one star is for convenience and friendly staff. That was good. It's also quick and easy if you're wanting icecream on the go. The icecream itself is extremely mid. I'm sorry it just tasted bland and I got the cake and icecream cup. The cake was also not flavorful and very dry. The biscoff shake we got was also pretty flavorless and not something to write home about. I want to love it but I can't sadly. Maybe if the owner wasn't so offended by an honest review I'd come back to see if the dry cake and flavorless icecream was a fluke...there are more options on this road with higher ratings though, so I'll put my money elsewhere.

If I could give 6 stars to Shakes & Cones I would. What is a kiosk operation (as you order from the street) turns out is a culinary delight. With dairy and vegan ice cream choices alike, with fantastic quality, there is something for everyone. Service is great as they helped me navigate extensive menu and their recommendations were fantastic. I decided on having vegan cookie butter ice cream with vegan whipped cream. Justin was very enthusiastic in recommending it, and to be honest this is the best ice cream I ever had. Special thanks to him. While seating is street-side of which I am no fan, the quality of ice cream, and friendliness of staff more than makes up for it!!!!!

Being in the ice cream business, we always like to visit other ice cream places in different cities that we go to . today we went to Shake and Cones in downtown Scottsdale, Arizona. A pleasant young man will meet you at the walk up window. You can order and pay and shortly after they will deliver your ice cream from the pick up window. They have a huge menu lots of creative delicious ice cream desserts prices are reasonable. I had a malt shake, which was OK. I think they forgot the malt and my wife had a salted caramel sundae. We think the ice cream lacked a little flavor but was good. Presentation was good. I think they make their own whipped cream, but need to add sugar kind of bland . I recommend you trying it out when in downtown Scottsdale.

Best soft serve ice cream in old town ! Always super fast with the orders, the windows always clean and the tables they have outside are always in good shape. Everything is organic and gluten free, and they have dairy free options. The menu is quite large, with new specials all the time . There located between Ra sushi and bootleggers in old town Scottsdale.

Creamiest ice cream I've had in a while and refreshing for a hot day in Phoenix! I definitely recommend - I went classic with the vanilla with Oreo and was not disappointed. They only have outdoor seating.

Walk by window ordering with seating outside, heaters for when it's cold. Very cool place that had very good ice cream.

It's unacceptable when you leave your employees with out the proper amount of stock to keep things like vegan ice cream which I'm sure people come to your establishment because it is hard to find.

this ice cream was great!!! i got a chocolate vanilla twist with heath and caramel. no complaints at all. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

4.5 Stars Shakes & Cones is truly a gem in Old Town! The convenience of the counter service is what makes this place so easy to order a snack and go. They have a few tables on the sidewalk in front of the store. Mic check, one - two. Mic check ONE TWO, ahem can you hear me?!?! Shakes and Cones has Dairy Free options!! My favorite by far is the dairy-free vanilla shake with fresh strawberries mixed in. It's the best vegan strawberry shake I've had so far! Don't set your heart one one item if you plan on coming back, they have plenty of great options! The only downside, it's Old Town Scottsdale. Parking and crowds can be a challenge. The upside, great people watching while you're enjoying your treat!

We were first-timers tonight! We headed here after dinner at Dilla Libre and really enjoyed it. I tried their vegan vanilla with their no food dye sprinkles and it was okay. My daughter's chocolate (normal) soft serve was considerably better, but to have a vegan option is pretty cool in soft serve. I think they need to offer a flavor besides vanilla. It's an ice cream counter and there are some tables outside, so it's a fun place to be when the weather is nice and right off the main road so plenty of parking in nearby lots or in spaces in front of the place. Other shakes, sundaes, and ice creams are available, too. We'll be back. I want to try the strawberry soft serve next.

While both of our drinks were okay they weren't amazingly flavorful, they were good and I would come here again. It's a very cute, walk up shop. The gentleman taking our order looked also to be making the drinks so it took a little while to get them since it was a one man job. There is no inside seating and limited seating outside, just an FYI!

Delicious ice cream and great espresso! Service was fast and friendly at their window walkup. Love that everything here is made with good, quality ingredients. I ordered the affogato and the only thing that would have made it better was if I would have ordered it with chocolate sprinkles. So good and the perfect afternoon snack.

I had a rough day and needed a cool sweet treat. Checked yelp and found that Shakes & Cones was nearby. It's tiny shop with a walk up menu (I don't think I had the option to sit but wasn't looking for that so I might have missed it.) The guy behind the window was very nice. The menu is straight forward. I tried a swirl and thought it was fantastic. They have vegan options which is really nice. I was served quickly and took a walk while eating my ice cream. It was delicious.

Yummy!!!!!! I wanted to try this place out because because it offers vegan ice cream. I had the vanilla and chocolate fudge and it was by far the best ice cream I have had. The location is in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale so if you are ever in the area I suggest you give this place a try. Oh!!! The customer service was helpful, friendly and all around amazing

I like that this place is like "Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers" in that you know what you're getting from their name...but this place is better at what they do than the other place I mentioned (Seriously, that place sucks). Shakes & Cones does good ice cream in the desert. What more do you need? What a genius business...Serving cold dessert to hot and tired customers. Start an ice cream shop in the arid tundra of Phoenix and you will not be without business. Mr Wonderful and Mark Cuban would def invest. This place is really good. Looking for cheeseburgers? Go someplace else. A $28 cocktail? You're in Scottsdale, walk 100 feet in any direction and you can find that. Barbecue? That's the place next door. Looking for some ice cream? Hell yeah, brother. Get some.

We were craving some delicious ice cream and definitely found it! I had the Mint Chocolate Chip shake and my friend had the OG sundae. Both were as good as expected. The staff is really friendly and helpful. You can grab your ice cream to go or sit at one of the small tables out front on the sidewalk! Great spot to grab a treat and walk around Old Town!

If you're looking for something that tastes like ice cream, then this place will satisfy that but I wasn't that impressed. I got a biscoff shake, and it tasted fine but I don't think it was worth the almost $8 that I spent on the "regular" size. Staff were friendly and it was nice having misters on while we sat outside. Worth the try but I think I'll look elsewhere for something a little more worth it.

Loads of tasty flavors in a cute little walk-up window. Was a hot day and ice cream sounded like a good idea so we stopped over to check it out. Not gonna lie, would have been nice to duck into a shop with some AC, but she got our shake and ice cream cup super fast so we were cooling down nicely. Lots of mixers to customize your treat, and fabulous for walking around Old Town Scottsdale.

This is the best ice cream I have ever had. The ice cream menu leaves me wanting to come back and try it all. Outside seating is great. The staff is super friendly and always does their best to make me feel welcome! I will always be back when I visit Scottsdale!

Accidentally stumbled upon this place while waiting for my sushi carry out and it did not disappoint! I got vanilla bean soft serve mixed w/ m&ms and cake batter. It reminded me of ice cream I ate as a kid. Ordering from the window made it feel like summer. Finished it all before I got my dinner. Will definitely be back.

There is no inside seating, but 4 tables outside on the sidewalk. It may have been a little pricier than I expected due to it being organic, or maybe just because it's in Scottsdale, but it was good.

Fresh soft ice cream. It's really sad for my heart that you can't get the milkshake flavors as an ice cream. I strongly regret not getting the cookie butter milkshake, or the other milkshake options. My strawberry cone was delicious, and light. I wanted a little heavy scoop of ice cream but my only options were vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. It was also unclear what was vegan or gluten free. Wasn't too sure about the outdoor seating. The staff are very very kind and sweet.

Organic establishment on the way from the Parking Corral to the main drag. I wanted to like my strawberry sundae with hot fudge more than I did. The strawberry dispute wasn't very strong (it really needed the salted peanuts), and the fudge had an odd texture. Meanwhile, my partner's salted caramel sundae was almost too salty. Service was nice and the prices were okay, so I might try them again before making up my mind.

We went to Scottsdale looking for a computer and I wanted something sweet, so we stopped here. I couldn't decide what to get so the pb parfait was suggested and it is amazing. I'm so glad they have so many vegan options and the service was fast. I think this is my new favorite spot.

Super easy to order with just a walk up window and great service. There are a couple benches to sit outside but otherwise this is a grab and go place. Everything was delicious. High quality soft serve!

Finally got to try this place and I'm 100% satisfied with this cool and super clean ice cream place. They have soft served ice cream, there were vanilla, strawberry, chocolate flavors when I was there, tried strawberry and chocolate with hot chocolate dip, and it was so so good. Their ice cream flavors are super rich and soft, and the dip was super satisfying. And one thing really impressed about this place is that they kept the place super super clean. I could see from outside how they kept their toppings and place neat and clean, super cool! And they had different options for shakes, Imma try their shake next time!!

I got the dairy-free vanilla with marshmallow fluff -- so delicious! Only complaint is the one scoop as kind of too large, I couldn't even finish! They also have other dairy-free topping options. If you tell them you have a dairy allergy they will point out what you can and can't order. There are 3 tables out front where you can sit and eat.

Had this a couple weeks ago and still thinking about it. Best soft serve ice cream ever...! Loved the concept of the layered sundae - Joe's Cake Dish. Yum it was so decadent and good. I subbed out nuts for graham cracker crumbles. My only regret is that they didn't pile on more of the graham cracker crumbles as they only gave it a little dusting.

Love having a soft serve option that is both organic and dairy free for myself as well as the regular ice cream others. We didn't quite get what we were expecting but it was still very good. My mom really wanted a strawberry sundae expecting to have the actually strawberry sauce/pieces but she got strawberry ice cream instead with caramel, chocolate and whipped cream on top. Odd combination but needless to say she finished the whole thing. I myself got a combo cone with dairy free vanilla and regular chocolate. I know, I know...doesn't make any sense right? That's what I wanted though and it was good so let me be weird. Staff was very nice, line moves quickly and there's plenty of parking. I'd love to come back here and try them again.

This place is very cute.. I tried the Joe's cake ice cream off the menu and was pleased.. The soft serve is phenomenal and the fact that it is organic and had a vegan option to my friend was a huge bonus!! I would've given them five stars except they only had one person working on a Sunday to both take the orders and make them.. we were a party of seven, and there was four more groups behind us all waiting. If I come back and there are two people working This would definitely be a five star review

It's delicious. I love soft serve and this is the highest quality I've ever had. You can actually see the vanilla bean in the vanilla! I had the joe's cake cup twist which was exactly what I'd hoped for. My husband got the PB cookie dough shake, which was heaven. And my kids got twist cones with sprinkles, which they loved, but were a bit sloppy to eat - I didn't think about how dipping a soft serve cone into sprinkles might be more of a smash. The employee working there was so smiley and cheerful it was infectious. The place it's just a window with a few tables on the sidewalk - very casual, which is perfect for ice cream

The ice cream wasn't bad, but it was melty and kinda bland. I came here a couple weeks ago and left feeling unsatisfied. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it enough to come back.

What a great place! Organic soft serve and ingredients. We had the Joe's Sunday with chocolate cake and vanilla soft serve, but we added hot fudge. Will definitely comeback! Good service and located in old town Scottsdale. Great vibe!

Went late on a Sunday night after craving some sweets! I ordered the Joe's Cake Dish with chocolate/vanilla swirl soft serve ice cream and caramel sauce. The cake was super rich, and overall delicious. The price is a little expensive with the portions being on the smaller side, but I think it was the perfect bite. I can't wait to come back again!

I didn't know this a was a an organic style, soft serve ice cream place. Powder peanut butter?!?!?! Hard pass. What we ordered wasn't bad, but if I were to compare this with Dairy Queen, I would pick DQ 10/10 times. If you want organic style ice cream, this is the place for you!
