"Below Shaku, is a speakeasy cocktail bar where guests enter through the kitchen of a casual upstairs ramen joint, Shaku Ramen. Downstairs at the bar, the focus is on DIY soju drinks with fresh juice." - Emma Orlow

I’ve been here twice now and it’s been consistently a great experience. The first time I went, it was a weeknight and we were able to be seated right away. The restaurant is in a little shopping mall so parking was easy. We had sliced beef tongue to start and grilled waygu sticks that aren’t pictured. I was nervous to try the beef tongue cause I’ve never had it but it was the perfect preparation for my picky taste buds. Thinly sliced and the sauce on top made it even better. The waygu sticks were unbelievable, I’ve never had waygu so finally tasting how decadent and how it really melts in your mouth was so satisfying. I ordered the karage don bowl to start with, the rice was delicious and the chicken had great seasoning. Only thing is I wish the chicken was crispier since I’m big on textures but other than that I think most people would enjoy it. He had the Tokyo tonkatsu ramen, it was a big portion and he finished the whole thing. The owner was so nice! He came to our table and the other table that was seated and offered us a soju shot and honestly best thing I’ve ever had for a shot. Then when we got the check they gave us complimentary fruit jellies that reminded me of my childhood. Now I’ll talk about my second time there, we went on a Thursday night and for starters we had the Tokyo taco, the pork belly was so soft and had a nice char. We also got the ludicrous lechón and the pork belly was so crispy I loved it! The zest/seasoning on top cut through the richness of the pork. I got the Tokyo tonkatsu ramen and he got the classic chasu don (not pictured). Both were delicious and we left feeling stuffed but satisfied. Can’t wait to try some more items next time we go.

Very nice and clean place. Had many choices. Love their variety of options. Not everything has pork. Not a lot of ramen place have non pork options. Employees were very friendly. Would def visit again.

Tried Shaku Ramen with a group of friends today, did not disappoint! Their truffle dipping sauce with the kickin kaarage was amazing, chicken was very tender. Their chashu buns were delicious. We shared the butadon bouquet, bunch of flavors that worked so well together. The best was the shoyu ramen spicy...creamy, flavorful with wavy noodles cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back!

Got tired of shopping at Hmart? Or thinking about eating first before shopping at Hmart? Either way, fill up your belly with delicious food here at Shaku Ramen! Shaku Ramen is a new Japanese restaurant that serves inventive appetizers, ramen and rice bowls. I went here hungry and was not disappointed. For appetizers; I got their chicken kaarage which was served with truflle mayo (must try), bao buns - both their steamed and fried versions, and their grilled leeks and spring onions. If you also check-in on the Yelp app and show it to your server, they will give you a heaping tray of Shishito peppers for FREE! I got their thick miso Tonkotsu ramen and it was heavenly. Each slurp of that soup will nourish your whole body after a long days work. But perhaps the star of the show was the A5 wagyu rice bowl. This rice bowl was righteous at its core. The A5 wagyu was cooked perfectly and the rice underneath compliments the whole dish perfectly. The jammy eggs rounds everything, making the bowl a complete meal. It is a bit pricey, but worth the experience. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to try their other menu items. There is still that Butadon Bouquet that I will try in the future. I hope and pray this restaurant keeps it quality and their awesome customer service for years to come.

Nice and clean restaurant, we came early so there were plenty of seats. The food came out very hot and well presented. I would say that there are a lot of Ramen places in the neighborhood so it’s hard to say whether Shaku stood out. It was decent, but for the price, you sorta expect more. Menu has three types of Ramen, and the soup seemed to have a slight thickness to it like it’s mixed with starch or flour. It does seem more expensive when compared to other lunch options in the same strip mall.

We shared the French kiss (beef tongue) and my friend ordered a pork bao for apps. I thought the beef tongue could’ve been more tender. My tonkatsu spicy miso ramen was good, though I found the broth to be too overpowering for the thin noodles. The broth reminded me of Tsukemen broth. The noodles were thin like ichiran’s, just not substantial to carry the broth. Service was friendly and attentive pushing this place to four stars. Though there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant. We went at 11:00AM when the place just opened.
