Where To Eat Outside In Santa Barbara - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Shalhoob’s is a family-run butcher shop/restaurant that’s been in the Funk Zone for over 40 years. While we fully recommend ordering their packaged meats for your at-home feast, their sprawling patio is a great place to hang out, drink some beer, and enjoy SB’s endless sunshine. The patio has its own menu and we love the burger, tri-tip, or fried chicken sandwich." - brant cox

We tried to give Shalhoob"s Goleta a second try. I am so sorry we did the food is as bad as when they first opened. My wife had the Avocado salad that was really just broccoli with a few bites of Avocado, soaked in vinaigrette and a soggy mess. I had the St Louis ribs however they were more like a byproduct pork chops small in size and very dry. We really like to support our local restaurants. However we are taking this one off the list.

Google
One of the best Tri-Tip sandwiches, I’ve ever had. The meat is very tender and the bread is fresh. Nachos are good too. The atmosphere at this location is fun. They have a good size space with roll up doors which makes it nice and airy. Plenty of parking at Magnolia center. Great service by the staff although one time it took forever to get our food.

Google
This place offers a very warm and pleasant atmosphere, with excellent food and truly outstanding margaritas. The street corn was a bit too heavy on the lime for my taste, but still very good overall.

Google
Ordered three tri tip tacos and Mac & Cheese. $38. Didn’t know taco would be all beans and salsa, very little meat. Way over priced for what you get. Will not be going back. Sad!

Google
Have gone several times to the funk zone location. Usually get tacos or wings. This time, trying Goleta, and ordered the ribs, which I had never had. Folks the portion was generous but give these a skip. The sauce is way too tasteless. The ribs themselves were smoked, but they taste bitter from the smoking process, which the sauce could not cure. I've made ribs at home, they should taste smokey. But not bitter. These were bitter, and they were not burnt. They were over smoked, that bitter taste is creosote. 🤮 If it had not been a take out order, I would have returned them. Anyway if you go here, get anything but the ribs - they should be a tasty signature dish, but nope-nope. They're not good at all.

Google
We had dinner last night. My wife and I ordered tri-tip tacos, an avocado salad and street corn. The street corn was good but the other food was terrible. The tri-tip was little bits of greasy grizzle and the salad was a mound of cooked broccoli with very little avocado. Our friends odered a hamburger but it came out late then had to go back because it was wrong. Lastly acoustics are poor, loud music and TVs playing and it’s hard to hear what others are saying. Stay away or just get the street corn to go.

Here I am on opening day, sitting at the patio of Shalhoob’s Magnolia location. Currently eating top notch tri tip with mac & cheese and street corn. Life is good. Thanks Shalhoobs :’)

Google
Server/mamager was very unhelpful, uninterested and unfriendly. Won’t come back here. It was not busy at all, she made me get my own menus from outside, which is fine, but it was my first time at the restaurant so u didn’t really know how it worked. I ordered on the bar, took the BBQ burger, there was very little BBQ sauce on it, so I asked for a bit more. She said that they charge 50 cents but would then bring it to me. (I left a 20 procent tip), but sauce never came. The whole time she was on her phone. Didn’t feel welcome at all. First time but last time. To bad!

Yelp
Review: If you're looking for some yummy barbecue in a setting that feels open and inviting, this place is for you! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the tone--huge roll-up doors give the space an airy, outdoor feel, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some incredible food. Now for the food...the nachos with grilled chicken and the Mexican street corn. The nachos are loaded with perfectly seasoned, smoky grilled chicken, melted cheese, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of spice--definitely a standout dish. The corn was just as impressive, coated in a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce - so good! And, of course, you can't visit a barbecue joint without trying the ribs--these were absolutely delicious - some of the best barbecue sauce I've tried in a while! Whether you're there for a casual meal or a gathering with friends, the combination of great food and the open, welcoming vibe made this a place worth returning to. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great ambience. Food was alright. Got the falafel sandwich - very unique concept where they actually made a whole patty out of the falafel. It was quite bland though, despite the seasoning and watermelon radish. Their street corn was pretty good and so were the mini pretzels. Quick service and friendly staff.

Yelp
So sad. Where to start. I stayed away from Shalhoob's for months because of a terrible food experience, terribly dry ribs, awful tri-tip. However, I decided to give it one last chance... I learned today. I ordered tri-tip and a half chicken. The tri-tip was inedible.. not trying to super bash, but seriously inedible. Bone dry and almost a jerky like texture. The chicken.... Was pretty damn good! Sides were decent. My advice to Shalhoob's would be get rid of the BBQ red meat and stick to what you're good at. Maybe use this post to improve your kitchen dynamic. Unfortunately I'll never be back. Good luck!

Yelp
Great service, great location, but terrible food. The girl and guy working at the front counter were so sweet and friendly! They definitely made our dining experience a lot better (hence the two stars). I also really like how many tables they have here! Unfortunately, the food here is just plain bad. I ordered the mac n cheese and added tri tip. It came out cold and the noodles were overcooked. The sauce was flavorless. The tri tip costed $6 extra to add and every cubed piece of it was too tough to even chew. I also ordered a salad with avocado and broccoli and added tri tip as well for $6. The salad consisted of raw broccoli, un-ripe avocado, chewy tri tip cubes, and basically no dressing. Both dishes were almost impossible to eat. For the prices that they charge here, this is not acceptable. I was really excited to try this place, but I will not be back anytime soon unfortunately.

Yelp
Decent food when compared to the other locations, but the seating situation is wholly chaotic and loud. Our small group had a disabled person with us who needed to sit, but unfortunately there was a lot of seat holding going on and a lot of unused chairs people wouldn't let go of. One employee tried to help, another could have fallen backwards from how fast her eyes rolled at us. Eventually we found a table thanks to a stranger that observed. The pulled pork tacos were good; pretty hard to mess that one up. The meatball sandwich came... deconstructed? A bunch of meatballs and then bread beside it. We asked if it was supposed to be that way and the employee said yes, but someone at the table near us ordered the same thing and it came out looking very different (like a sandwich). Unsure what happened. Either way, this was a one and done spot for me.

Yelp
The avocado salad had so much vinegar I couldn't eat it . The BBQ hamburger bun was so dry and cold it was nasty . Didn't eat it either the service www great ! So this is mainly for the cook. The space is spacious and has nice chairs

Yelp
10/10 experience at this Shalhoob's location! I was a little worried coming to this new location because of the reviews, but I noticed that they had the same menu as the one in the funk zone and it was a convenient drive to this location. Came here for their late night happy hour. I was super impressed by the quality of their food for it being very affordable! For bbq we ordered the bbq ribs, pulled pork, and jalapeno sausage. Definitely nothing compared to texas style bbq, but they don't advertise that they are. My favorite was the ribs because of the tasty sauce. Loved that it came with some garlic bread on the side. For sides we ordered the cole slaw, kale salad, mac and cheese, street corn and beans. Sides were half off because of the happy hour. The mac and cheese was my favorite for sure! Super creamy! Second place goes to the street corn and kale salad. Great vegetarian sides to have with the bbq. Also ordered the wings which were half off. They reminded me of thai style wings because of the cilantro and onions that it was topped with. Great wings! Will order again next time! I ordered the grape slush cocktail that was like a grape lemonade. I felt bad that the cashier had to balance the cash register and bartend at the same time. Might need to get staff to help them out so that customers aren't waiting to order. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service despite the negative reviews. Thanks for opening up a location in Goleta!!

Yelp
My go to spot for a yummy tri-tip sammich and a side of Mac and cheese. Consistently amazing. Never disappointed. SO glad they have a spot so close to my crib.

Yelp
Ordered a pull pork and fish taco and they were soooo good. All the ingredients worked well together but I especially like their yellow corn tortilla. Glad they opened a spot near my parents house. Was sad when I finished.

Yelp
So glad to see Shalhoob's finally open their new location! The inside is spacious, with bar seating and several TV's for the sports fanatics. The outdoor patio area is really nice too. Picnic tables and umbrellas are available for small and large groups. Their liquor license is still pending, but they do expect to be serving alcoholic beverages during the week of April 15, 2024 as I write this review. I've been to the location in the Funk Zone, so I'm pretty familiar with the food here. Today I decided to try new items. I ordered the1/4 rack ribs, which comes with garlic bread. I was surprised at the serving size, but happy to see I got my moneys worth! They were meaty, and full of flavor. I also ordered the Mac n Cheese as my side dish. Coated with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. I feel it could have been seasoned a bit more, but it was still pretty good. The Cota St. wings are coated in a Guajillo honey sauce, and topped with mint, red onion and lime. A unique combination of flavors, and I'm not a picky person, but my taste buds just couldn't get down with the flavor. Nonetheless, I'm glad I gave them a shot! The clear winner are the nachos! Not only was the presentation on point, but the flavors blew us away. The tasty tri-tip chunks completed this mountain of goodness drizzled in chipotle aioli. I highly recommend ordering them. The avocado salad includes quinoa, grilled broccoli, red onion, toasted almonds, mint, and tossed in a buttermilk lemon dressing. I really like this salad! Not only is it healthy, but it's one that will satisfy your belly. My friend also ordered the tri-tip sandwich which looked amazing. The tri-tip was dripping in juices and the bread was soft and had a nice sheen; which tells me it was very fresh. Staff was very attentive, checked on our party and kept the restaurant clean. Overall, I'm glad to see this new location added to the Magnolia shopping center. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
I recently went to the new Shalhoob location with a few coworkers and we loved it! You order at the register and food is brought to your table. The busser who was working was so friendly and helpful. I love the roll-up doors so you feel like you're sitting outside no matter where you sit. They have really modernized the space from the previous business. Great for big or small groups. All of the food was amazing!!! I got the Tri-Tip sandwich and side of street corn and both were phenomenal. Definitely a new favorite in Goleta!

Yelp
Each dish felt like a culinary trip abroad--rich, bold flavors with amazing attention to detail.

Yelp
After 3 chips, I knew these were among the best nachos I've ever had. Perfect crunchiness, an amazing chipotle crema, and great distribution of cheese, beans, and jalapeños. Bianca was a sweet manager and the space itself is killer. Open air and great vibe. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our first visit to Shalhoobs. The restaurant opens up so you can have that outdoor feeling and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. There is outdoor seating also. Menu has great options. We had the pulled pork sandwich, a side of fries (they don't come with the sandwich) and three baja fish tacos. Everything was hot and delicious! So much we went back a couple days later for a friend's birthday lunch. Service is good. Very nice. Lots of tv for watching games. Convenient location. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
We love the new shalhoobs location! Easy parking (biking for us!) and great atmosphere for families with kids (order at the counter). They have picnic style benches and tables with indoor/outdoor options. They have a kids menu and regular menu as well as options for cocktails and wine/beer. We enjoy getting the tri tip sandwich and the cowboy salad! The kids love the Mac n cheese and the burger/fries! The margarita was a bit too tart for me and the wine pours are quite small. Otherwise the place is perfect! Service has been very friendly and accommodating!

Yelp
This was my first time here, and I tried the Pulled Pork Tacos--they were good. Even though the place was busy, the food came out quickly. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
I got the Little Gem Salad and fries, and ordered from Uber Eats for pickup. They forgot the dressing for the salad, which would've been horrible had I not ordered an extra side of chipotle mayo for the fries. Put that on the salad and it was actually great!

Yelp
I was super excited that Goleta was going to get a new Shalhoobs location. My family absolutely love Shalhoobs and it has become one of our go to spots. This location is absolutely amazing! Love the open area, easy to get to and a great lot for parking. We are so excited for football season to start, since they have so many tv around the seating area and bar. We've visited about 4 times now and the service has always been amazing. We've gone on busy days and on slower days and we have always been served amazingly! The food is absolutely delicious and although we always try to get new items to try, we keep going back to our absolute favorite tri tip sandwich. It is by far, the best I've had and I love pairing it with a side of the street corn. This time we tried the side of Mac n cheese and it definitely did not disappoint! It was so creamy and tasty that I will definitely be getting it more often. That Parmesan cheese topping definitely gave it a special touch. Highly recommend the street corn though. It is mouth watering and a perfect option when you want to get something else besides fries. This time we also tried the Chipotle Peach Rib Tips. I absolutely fell in love with the tenderness of the ribs and that sweet taste that went great with some ranch. I'm eager to try more items and highly recommend trying this place out. Don't forget to try their great beer selection and yummy margaritas! The mango one is my favorite and I love that it comes with a chamoy and tajin rim. Not going to lie, I was definitely feeling it after 2 margaritas lol

Yelp
Not a great value for the money. Small meat portions on Barbecue plates. Wasn't the best quality either. Sorry guys. Giving a two stars because they are local. If not it would be a 1 star.

Yelp
So excited that Shalhoob was opening a second restaurant in Goleta and very happy when it opened. But! And a big but, what happened? When they first opened we went several times as we are in the neighborhood. It was great, a wonderful experience, friendly, great service, good food, nice atmosphere. Now fast forward to June, July. We are missing the Shalhoob at the market where they had great friendly service, great food and fabulous happy hour. Why, you ask? Well, the last two times we stopped at Shalhoob Magnolia the experience was not Shalhoob worthy. What happened I am not sure. They changed their happy hour of 3 to 6 to 3 to 5pm and they are hesitant to tell you what exactly are the happy hour deals. Service is just basic, short, to the point, but not friendly. Almost to the point of why are you bothering me with questions. The last time we stopped there it was 5 minutes before 5 pm and we ordered right away and our receipt said 4:56 but we were charged regular prices. Plus we had to ask for an itemized receipt as we felt it was more than happy hour to show them. No explanation, no I'm sorry, just I'll change it but was not given a receipt. Now, tonight we stopped again, the same short, abrupt service, receipt not itemized, and no offer to give us a receipt. Unfortunately Shalhoob is now on my don't bother list. I'll drive over to funk zone if I really want Shalhoob. I was so hopeful for this location. What happened? We thought this might be our go to for football season, but I guess we will drive downtown to Institution Ale.

Yelp
They have such good quality meat omg! Their Italian sausage is the best sausage I've ever had. I got one of their deals and it came with 4 chicken breasts, 4 Italian sausage, 4 truffle tri tip sausage, and a big cut of tri tip for $50. Amazing price for all that meat I couldn't believe it!!! I wish I lived close by but I was visiting my sister in Santa Barbara and we had tried their restaurant the night before which is also incredible food- so I had to try their butcher shop. Will be back when I'm back in town. All the meat I bought has been so so good and clean tasting. Still need to try the tri tip.

Yelp
Happy Hour M-F 3-5pm. Power hour Sun-Thurs 8-9 and Fri-sat 9-10 Lots of TVs to watch the games. Lots of tables to sit at (inside and out). Food is delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed my Baja fish tacos and the fact that you can purchase them solo instead of a meal of three. Took off a star because they ran out of their special and it isn't the first time I've come here where they've run out of something. Of course it was on Father's Day and this was the meal my husband wanted. Not to mention I waited in a long line since you can't order online and no one picked up a phone to place an order. Also waited a long time for my food to be served. Such a bummer!

Yelp
The following is a very limited review, evaluating only one sandwich (turkey) and one side plate (fries). I'm also adding one miscellaneous comment about service. Date / time of visit: Wednesday, June 19, 2024 There are too problems with this turkey sandwich. Too many ingredients completely overwhelm the sliced turkey. I couldn't discern the so-called "smoked" turkey from cardboard--pickle mayo, aioli, avocado, cucumber, white cheddar, bacon, and "shredduce." Plus there's a mystery spice here that I really found problematic. By the time I finished the first 1/2 of the sandwich, the remaining half was a soaking, unpalatable mess (see photo). Fries were completely over-cooked. We were seated on the very pleasant outdoor patio, with our dog, and waiting for our food. Before this arrived, the hostess placed "Reserved Table" signs (for 1 pm) on our table and all the other tables on the patio. It's now 12:25. She noted that we would have to move to accommodate this reservation at 1 pm. With a dog? Likely not a problem, but I'm pretty sure that the family of four seated next to us, not yet served at 12:30, might have a reasonable expectation to remain seated.

Yelp
Food was good but not great. The pricing is confusing for what you get. Our meal was $60 with tip (photo below) 3.6 for the food. 2 because of over priced sides and additional house tax (and we tipped). Counter service. Wide open, pick nick/sports bar vibes. Nice outdoor seating! Plates are fairly priced but the sandwiches and sides are overpriced. Tri tip was tough. Pull pork sandwich was good. My partner thought everything was very salty. I liked the food more than he did! Corn was good but $12 for a tin of corn and mayo? The side is a fraction of the size and nearly $9!! The disposable tin plates, paper & plastic cups seem really wasteful. We had left overs and I asked for a lid. They said they didn't have lids but they had paper take out boxes. Extra wasteful and no logic. (Another server corrected that they have lids for the "plates" but not the round tins. I just carried my food home in the uncovered tin, I wasn't going to throw away the tin, to take it home in a paper box!)

Yelp
Bottom line: great food, great service, no recycling....? My family was excited to learn that they were opening a new location close to where we live. As a side hustle, I had been working in the fun zone and my family had come out to have dinner with me after work on occasion. This is when my son became addicted to their bacon jam burger. Once they open Goleta, we immediately tried it out and loved it! Unsure if this has changed it all, but while we were there, there was no kind of recycling at all, so I hope they have been able to figure out to at least get some of the recycled This spot is definitely worth checking out

Yelp
My sister and I came here last Saturday for lunch and it was poppin'! She ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I ordered the turkey sandwich. I was expecting bread, as experienced at the Funk Zone location, but it was brought out on a roll, which was "toasted to perfection " per the hostess and I agree. Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the service was phenomenal. The establishment is very clean and airy and it was a beautiful day. I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
Amazing nachos. Amazing wings. Great food! Will visit again next time I'm in Santa Barbara

Yelp
Food is decent, good atmosphere. Wall said pint of beer is $7 and they charged $8+. Also they sneak a charge of $1 on to your tab and say it's cause the kitchen staff doesn't get paid enough. Bad business practices in my opinion.
google avatar

Ann D.

Yelp
I think the funk zone location had better plating but the new location is a lot cleaner. The service was really good at the bar even though we did not order any drinks. The happy hour food was very good. I just wish my falafel bites came with more salad like at the funk zone location. I still will come back to this location though.
google avatar

Javier M.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is very good. However, their bbq ribs are terrible. I like the Saint Louis bbq ribs from Albertsons way better. Don't waste your time and don't order the bbq ribs here. They are better at Albertsons. Plus, everything is overpriced way too much.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally one of the best burger places to eat. With everyone jumping on the "smash burger craze" Shalhoobs has really found their nitch. The big open doors provide both an indoor and outdoor feeling. Cant wait til summer is here. Would be a great place for local bands. Kudos to all the wait staff.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
I ordered takeout a few days ago. Scrutinized my bill to see a service charge for "other employees that don't get tips." I ended looking around the cashiers area and saw a very small sign explaining their reasoning for the charge. They also expect a tip on top of this! Sorry, food is okay and only service i received was someone bringing out my order! I won't go back.

Yelp
We ordered two salads with tri-tip and ribs with sausage . As soon as I tried the meat of the tri- tip I noticed it was thawed and tasted weird . I told my husband and refrained myself from eating it . Whereas he ate it all . When we left the place he started having crams and threw up badly after a couple of hours . He didn't eat anything besides that. That meat was not only thawed , it was also spoiled. We don't recommend this place at all . Terrible experience.

Yelp
Avoid the White chicken- it was horrific. I know Shalhoob's is known for their great meat, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or they were having an off night, but it will be a long time before I try this place again and cannot recommend. I cant remember the last time in ten years something was so bad I needed to send it back to the kitchen(after one bite especially), but they were not nice about it. I think this is the same owner as Jills place? Maybe Jill can help them step up their game both with service and food.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place, we wanted to give them a chance to get it all together before we went ( knowing we would be reviewing it :-). I can say with confidence that we were not disappointed. I've been to all the different Shalhoobs locations many times and certainly have my favorites food wise, so for this visit I wanted try something different. I went for the Truffle Burger: Truffled Toma cheese, onion marmalade, truffle aioli on a brioche bun. Might not be for everyone but It was very good and has some really interesting and unique flavors you just don't usually find on burgers. The patty was thick and still had some juice to it but, personally, I'd prefer the option to have it cooked to taste. As it was, it was cooked medium +. I'd definitely get it again though, the flavor was great, even though, at $17 it's the most expensive burger on the menu. We also got the baby kale salad ( half size) with added chicken. This was a solid offering as well with a fair amount of chicken for the smidge steep $5 additional. When we got there the place was 90% full though the line was short and our food came out fast. Decor is comfortable but slightly spartan. Being as full as it was though that wasn't so noticeable. Theres a nice, fairly large outdoor patio with umbrellas as a seating option as well. It's pay at the counter style and they bring the food to you which works for us just fine. I know that rankles some folks since there is a tip screen but there is NOT a mandatory 18% tip as mentioned in another review. You can check my photo of the screen and it clearly gives the quick-key options of 15, 18 or 20% or the optional "custom amount". The service, as it was, seemed fine and the staff were all quite friendly. We look forward to going back and feel that Shalhoobs is a great addition to the eating options in that area:-)

Yelp
I have eaten at Shalhoobs at LEAST once a week since they opened, ( I work close by) and have not had a bad meal yet! The tri tip sandwich and tacos are fabulous! The nachos are the perfect amount and the Mac and cheese is the best I've had at a restaurant in town. They are consistent EVERY TIME! Tonight I tried the fried chicken sandwich and I'm impressed, will definitely order it again. Even the falafel sandwich was fantastic! Hands down their Gem? Salad is exactly what you want when you don't want something heavy. The staff is great! Attentive and friendly, what more could you want?

Yelp
I liked the atmosphere, and the food came out very quickly. I had a delectable Mac n cheese and pulled pork.

Yelp
Best tri tip sandwich in town! That's all you really need to know... it's on a soft roll with salsa and bbq sauce. The meat is tender and juicy. I will throw more info down just to fill up this review.... Great service, clean environment that makes you want to stay. Plenty of huge tv's to watch your favorite game. But most of all... the best tri-tip sandwich in town!

Yelp
As you know Shalhoob's quality and freshness is always delicious! This new Magnolia location is a nice refresh makeover of the old barbecue place Woody's. The giant glass garage doors are a nice touch, order at the entrance, sit inside or outside on the patio. Before you know it your giant food order is delivered at your nice small table or giant picnic table. Perfect for parties, big family chow down. Plenty of napkins and to-go containers as usual. Kids enjoy the casual atmosphere and yummy mac&cheese for example. Everything on the menu will not disappoint. Menu items are large portions, plenty of to share or take home. The staff is all over good service, super kind and friendly. The counter bar has many giant big screen televisions to keep your eyes on the competition of your choice. Nice for lunch or dinner or your special event. Do check out their website for all the 411! yummy delicious! Do not hesitate. https://shalhoob.com/

Yelp
It's been nearly 30 minutes since we ordered 2 sandwiches and 1 fries. Nearly $45 and we are still waiting... 45 minutes and still waiting. 55 minutes and we finally got our food. The TriTip Sandwich had lots of flavor but the meat was tough. Sadly the fries were too. Taco Bell and MacDonalds are nearly as good at less than half the price. Quality and timeliness must improve or this place will not survive. We didn't get sick. So there's that.

Yelp
Great meat! But that sauce ... We ordered takeout on a cold January evening. The ambiance is Spartan, but on a nice summer afternoon with the walls wide-open it would be very Santa Barbara. (Well, very Goleta.) I had a half-rack of ribs, which was quite generous and reasonably priced. The meat was excellent and perfectly cooked. (I'm thinking they're cooked in the oven and finished on a grill, rather than proper BBQ, but they wouldn't do that.) (Would they?) What lost them a star is the sauce. For me it was way too spicy - the flavor of the meat was overwhelmed by the way-too-strong flavor. Too much pepper? Something stronger? I'd totally order those ribs again if I could specify sauce on the side (and then use my own). My wife had the tri-tip sandwich, and her only gripe was too much sauce (yep) and too much meat! Nice problem to have! I had a taste and that was some tip-top-tri-tip! Finally, an aside: if there's any way to specify sauce on the side or extra-crispy fries when ordering online, I never found it. Big fail by their online vendor.

Yelp
I liked the tri tip the first time we went there but this second time we asked for medium rare and spent a fortune on a pound and a half which wasn't that many pieces and it was well done. I even asked a woman who worked there if she was sure she told the cooks medium rare and she said yes. She wasn't very friendly either. I really don't like to give bad reviews but the service wasn't good and the tri tip wasn't either.

Yelp
Kinda bummed they raised their happy hour drinks from 5 to 7 bucks. Don't think I've ever seen it dead. Enough to warrant the raise. Then again I'm not the owner. Guess I'll go back to my regular spot before they opened.

Yelp
Not just for meat eaters! They have great fish tacos, too. Amazing classic margaritas. Warm and friendly service. Bring your dog!

Yelp
Great place for adults or families with plenty of food and drink options. Nice and clean with a bunch of tvs for watching sports. Stopped in during happy hours and ordered the falafel bites with an IPA. I was floored by the bites which were outstanding and I will be back for more! They were crispy on the outside but perfect texture on the inside. The combination of flavors with the radish, cucumber, red onions, cilantro, jalapenos and chipotle aioli was amazing hitting a home run with sweet savory and spicy! Can't wait to have some more,

Yelp
Chipotle Peach Rib Tips were rock hard and pretty much inedible. Big Ass Burger had so much BBQ sauce on it that's all I could taste. Don't bother

Yelp
Gotta love a tri-tip or a pulled pork sandwich from Shalhoob's! Food and service on par with the funk zone location. I love the look of the inside. We were laughing because it's traditional BBQ just like Woody's used to be, but the space is nicer and the food is better. Thanks!

Yelp
I've been to the Shalhoob's in the Funk Zone and the atmosphere at the new Magnolia location is by far my favorite. It has a more family friendly setup. The food is the same, great ribs and the sides are equally delicious. The Street Corn is one of my favorite sides. I look forward to trying some of the other sides I've not tried! There is much more to the menu than just ribs, of course. Burgers, tacos, salads, sandwiches and pub style sides. The service is great and the waitstaff friendly. I look forward to future visits and future meals at a decent barbecue/family gathering restaurant.
