The 26 Best Restaurants In Mumbai

"Shalimar’s maze of different rooms and moods—from loud, hot, and busy, to private, plush, and cool—seem to go on and on (a walk through the entire restaurant’s many levels can take a full 10 minutes). The menu at this grand shrine of Mughlai food on Mohammad Ali Road that’s been around since the 1970s is neverending, too. It’s a rabbit hole of choice with hundreds of dishes. The cheat code of things you absolutely can’t miss: raan biryani, nihari, dal gosht, kheema, and the legendary layered sundae-like dessert falooda—a tall cool glass stacked with soft vermicelli, jelly, nuts, chia-like basil seeds, syrup, and ice cream. Large groups should snag one of the private dining rooms and share a family-sized, ₹2,529 raan biryani, while the air-conditioned upstairs is ideal for small groups." - roshni bajaj sanghvi

Shalimar Restaurant in Mumbai was nothing short of phenomenal. This establishment is a paradise for food lovers, perfectly blending flavor, quality, and service. Their Special Falooda is, without a doubt, the best in Mumbai. It's a refreshing, creamy indulgence that instantly uplifts the mood. The perfect balance of rich kulfi, sweet rabri, sabja seeds. The service was remarkably swift and friendly. The staff were courteous, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The ambiance is comfortable and immaculately clean, adding to the overall great experience. In short, Shalimar Restaurant doesn't just serve food; it delivers a memorable, high-quality dining experience.

The Bhendi Bazaar location offers a cozy, traditional vibe that I appreciate. Other branches, like the one in Kurla, has a good atmosphere. It's a family-friendly space that feels classic and well-established. However, I have noted that bhendi bazaar location could use some maintenance to improve cleanliness. As for the service: Attentive and polite, but can be slow...on busy days. The staff at Shalimar are, polite, and helpful. However, a few times I have experienced delays, especially during peak hours, with some time my waiting is over an hour for my food. Value: Good... For the most part, I feel that Shalimar offers good value, especially considering the generous portions and the rich, tasty food. Yet, some recent visit I found the prices to be on the higher side compared to previous visits, particularly on some of the dishes... Overall verdic... If you're seeking a nostalgic, classic Mumbai dining experience centered on rich, authentic Mughlai food, Shalimar is still a great option, especially at its flagship Bhendi Bazaar restaurant. The food is mostly excellent, and the falooda is legendary. Just be aware that quality can vary between locations, and be prepared for potential delays during busy times. We had the pizza and I found it to be a little dry...the shawarma is always a joy to eat. Love the falooda, and the amazing rolls. Will always visit.

The new edition of shalimar "Reserve" has been the new hit spot in the town, a unique premium dine-in that has a specialised menu only to this section of the restaurant, with multiple other sections for snacks and normal dine-in options including majlis, shalimar has it all! The quality of the food is premium with suiting prices accross the menu, they also have a kunafa counter which should not be missed, keep up the good work team!

Shalimar's OG Chicken Chilli with Butter Naan is a culinary masterpiece! Tender, flavorful chicken in a perfect balance of spices, paired with the buttery goodness of freshly baked naan... it's a match made in heaven! The world waits, and it's worth it!

I recently visited this restaurant, and while the food itself was good, almost everything else about the experience was disappointing. The waiting time was unreasonably long, and the staff felt largely unresponsive, making the overall service quite frustrating. The menu was also not informative. A clear example is the Al Baik Chicken, which tasted completely different from what you’d expect at any other restaurant. Nowhere in the menu was this mentioned, which makes it misleading for customers. Always remember this—order dishes only after reading the menu very carefully, because the descriptions are either vague or incomplete. Another concern is the way the staff recommends dishes. The waiter seems to suggest only the highest-priced items without understanding what the customer actually wants. We unfortunately fell for this and ended up ordering the Shalimar Hungama Chicken Gravy, which was clearly pushed just for its price tag. This is a bad and unethical practice. Overall, while the taste of the food was decent, the service, transparency, and customer experience need major improvement. I hope the restaurant takes these points seriously and makes the necessary changes.

The food tastes really good, but some of the prices are very high for no reason.

I had recently pani puri and falooda, now it's not worth to have it, because puri and inside metrial (bundi)was not crispy, taste not good even spicy and sweet water was not good at all, outside street food or even there is one new opposite of them he is serving better than them, let's come to falooda , now it not like before, it is same like street bhaiya wala falooda, they don't deserve to have 2 star , 1 is more than enough... Quality is going day by down....
