It's okay. From living here I've gotten used to large portions when it comes to Chinese food, and I went out expecting to be able to have some food for the rest of the week, but when I saw the serving and presentation I realized that this is more of a dining experience. The portion size was less than expected, but the quality and service were on point. The whole place kind of feels run down, like the business is struggling to modernize, and it has a bunch of signage in broken English that doesn't reflect well on the management. I think it fits the area economically, and the prices are a little higher than the menu pictures shown. My lunch was like $16 out the door. This restaurant has a dedicated building, but I am going to get Chinese from a strip mall shop for quantity sake. The whole experience felt very 1990s, if not earlier, but I think the operation could benefit greatly by working on the experience. Value: 6/10.

Google
I absolutely love this place. It has the best hot and sour soup as well as the best mapo tofu in town. The experience we had tonight was as great as ever. There was 5 of us in our party. Everyone's food was so tasty and hot. The dinner portions were shareable. They made half portions for my children that were just the right size. Our drinks were filled constantly and the restaurant was clean. The wait staff was busy, but they teamed up and all took turns taking care of us. They do charge a 15% gratuity for parties of 5 and an 18% gratuity for parties larger than 8. We didn't mind paying automatic gratuity one bit. The servers deserved well above that. I highly recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere, great service, and quality food make for a great dining experience and this restaurant hits the mark every time.

Google
Awesome restaurant!!! The place is a little old but damn the food was good. It’s actually very clean despite the condition of the building. Vegetarian friendly! The lunch special is where it’s at. You get so much food for a good price. So worth it! The egg rolls are not vegetarian but they are amazing! Really crispy and not lacking filling. Service was quick and server was super nice & friendly. She helped me pick a vegetarian dish. The lunch special comes with your dish, rice, soup, and egg rolls. I ordered the home style tofu and I think my husband ordered the orange chicken.

Google
One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in El Paso, have to order their famous "LiangZhangPi", which is stir fry of pork, shrimp, eggs, cucumber, and other vegetables, rich while fresh, you'll like it!

Google
Great place for families. Very reasonably priced. The lunch specials are a good option. We had the family share on some Beef Fried rice , Pepper Beef and Szechuan Chicken. Great flavors. Very friendly staff and will give you some great advise on the best plates. A Must Stop Spot!

I am still on the hunt for a great Chinese restaurant in El Paso and decided to check this place out a few weeks ago. It was actually really disappointing. I ended up ordering the Moo Goo Gai Pan - chicken with fried rice. This came with an order of egg drop soup and egg roll. I liked that they sat me right away and when I ordered my sprite I liked that they gave me a small pitcher so I wouldn’t be without something to drink and they use paper straws. The egg roll soup was ok and warm at least. The egg roll was actually really good and I enjoyed eating it. The fried rice was a disappointment and I didn’t eat it. It didn’t have a good flavor and was bland. The Moo Goo Gai Pan chicken was also bland and had hot spots and cold spots. To top everything off, everything came out within 5 minutes of ordering so I didn’t have time to enjoy my soup and egg roll before my entree came out. Over all, I won’t go back and on the search for my favorite Chinese spot continuous.

Google
I've never really considered Shan Dong, drive buy it all the time and judging from the out side you would most likely keep driving. We decided to stop in for take out, the inside is very nice and spacious, nicely greeted, very simple menu, great prices, the host offered complimentary tea while we waited for the order, we were surprised there was only one box of fried rice for 2 orders but looking at the top of the box it was marked fried rice × 2, but that's okay the box was stuffed with rice, plenty for 2 meals, I plan on returning soon for the sit down experience.

Google
This is a must visit if you are traveling through it love in El Paso. Best egg drop soup, hands down. Go during lunch hours and get a soup and egg rolls with your meal. Stellar customer service, though it can get busy at times. Everything is great on the menu and they have vegetarian options too.

Yelp
Love coming here for a real yummy Chinese meal. Charging mandatory 18% tips for large families is a different matter, but for 1-5 people and for sure, Lunch specials can't be beat for taste and quality for the price. Egg rolls appear to be vegetarian, but are SOOO GOOD. Crunchy on the outside with crispy hot veggies inside and so flavorful And you get choice of soup and Egg roll with your meal. I chose egg drop because they have my favorite egg drop soup in El Paso. Sometimes in the winter I just come get the big bowl for myself! It's so Rich and velvety. With nice thick ribbons of egg swimming throughout. They will add green onions on top if you ask. I have had many dishes here, broccoli Beef, combo fried rice, Happy Family, etc...but today I got the Hunan Shrimp. It did not disappoint. It was delicious. The fried rice was perfect and I LOVE that they add bean sprouts to each plate! And I always eat that orange half! They even bring you your own pitchers of ice water or tea and leave at your table or carafe of soda if you get that... so convenient... They were quite busy this day but Service was very good, quick and efficient as always. The place is decorated in A typical Asian reds and yellows with lanterns hanging from the ceiling and some dragons and pictures here and there. Their booths could use an update both the seats which some are really cracking and they need to find a different way to clean their table tops so they don't end up sticky from using bleach water, it's eating into the lacquer on the wood tables and leaves them sticky.. kind of annoying. It gets on your hands and sleeves... like jelly stickiness. Perhaps they should use table cloths and change out for each customer until they can fix that tabletop melting situation. That's my only critique. I love the food and the people here. Come get some good Chinese in El Paso.

Yelp
Surprising that you don't get egg roll with lunch. It's the better Chinese restaurant in town since PKing Express has new owner. Food not as good.

Yelp
Best food after long time... Great to enjoy Korean style Chinese. If you want to try Korean Chinese K-pop food. Don't miss it...

Yelp
Above average food. Affordable lunch specials with generous portions. Awesome and friendly staff! I went in for take out and was quickly greeted and taken care of.

Yelp
The food was not the best. My rice was cold and hard. The service was alright. One server was great but the other didn't even speak or ask if I needed anything else when she dropped off my food.

Yelp
This is our first time trying Chinese food in El Paso so we don't have any where else to compare it to. Overall it was really good and I would definitely go back again. Egg drop soup was really good! I loved the sweet n sour chicken and the egg rolls were fire!

Yelp
Why not show receipts with all charges, food items, extras and taxes. Instead of a hand written order note stating X amount for total bill. When I inquired why amount was higher than expected she snapped and said taxes. When I questioned the tax amount she glared and said soup which I thought was included in the lunch meal as stated in the menu. Food was good and our waitress was pleasant.

Yelp
Finally open for dine in. We arrived at 545p. Sat and ordered. The food has good flavor but we had an order of combination lo mein. There were tinnny bits of meat. You can tell the servings are small and the protein of the plates are verrrry minimal. I understand they want to save $ where they can but at least put something lol. Also, we were basically being kicked out right before closing. Heard a girl say out loud we didn't want to leave because we were eating. I probably won't come back. 4 Half orders of the dinner entrees came out to $60

Yelp
my first time here, waitresses are very friendly and attentive, their lunch special includes lots of food and appetizers for a great price. id day you get more than what you're paying for. the food is amazing, i ordered and it came out hot and quickly. very nice tranquil place for great local chinese :)

Yelp
My daughter and I came in for lunch. We are from New Mexico. I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan and my Daughter had the Sesame Chicken. Both were delicious! All the sides(Soup, Fried rice and egg rolls) were also wonderful. The staff was also very friendly. When we come back to El Paso this will be one of our go to spots. I highly recommend you visit this restaurant.

Yelp
Service was fast, sincere and the food was excellent. Loved that it wasn't "buffet" style but order off a great menu of options! Asked how long the restaurant has been open and learned it had been open for the past 22 years. Great food- great history.

Yelp
Tonight we ordered through the Favor app : lemon chicken, orange chicken, peppered chicken, combination fried rice , egg drop soup , hot and sour soup . Let start by saying I've had tried alot of Chinese food restaurants and this was just some way better on all accounts . The combination fried rice was not lumpy or dried up or dead like some places over cooked . It was fluffy and soft and very delicious without any sauce . The fried chicken , and chicken dishes all were crispy not too heavily breaded or uncooked on the chicken . I only wish I had taken food photos before I devoured my plate and to make a extra plate just for the photo would be a waste . Definitely worth the stop and visit !!!

Yelp
My dad and I came up to El Paso for a few errands. And because of where we live we do not have many options to choose from on where to eat. We wanted something a little bit different than what we have been eating so we chose Chinese. I ordered the weekend lunch special which came with soup, an egg roll and steamed or fried rice. I got the hot and sour soup with fried rice and my entree was the sesame chicken. The chicken was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife and the rice was packed with flavor it didn't even need soy sauce. The lo mein did not look like much but it was the best that I have ever had. The service was outstanding everyone here was very friendly and very helpful.

Yelp
To my chagrin, I was highly disappointed. So much talk about how good the food at this place is. It seems as though they have recently opened back up and back onto some sort of regular schedule. For starters, I tasted my fried rice. It tasted like it had been fried with fish. I moved on to the Mushu pork. There seem to be more egg than pork. What pork there was were these tiny squiggly little crunchy like pieces of something. Also tasted somewhat burnt. I moved onto my broccoli beef. The broccoli beef seems to be hot in pockets. As though it were microwaved. as well as the Kung pow chicken but I'll get to that. The broccoli beef sauce is on the red side. Unfamiliar to me. It truly lacks a beef flavor. The mushrooms were burnt as well. Unsure of what to think of the Kung Bao chicken very little chicken an awful lot of vegetables Large pieces of carrot not spicy at all. So I ordered 3/2 size dishes. I suppose the portion size is OK. However, it cost me $31. I find that to be a bit expensive for poor Chinese food. Let's talk about the people. As I came in the door the gal "greeting people" was rather abrupt. No hi how are you? Welcome any of that stuff. I told her I wanted it to order to go. She asked me if I needed a menu. While I was sitting contemplating my disappointing food, another couple walked in, and we're very warmly greeted. Obviously, they were someone everyone knew. As they proceeded to head on over to what seem to be their table. Someone then came out of the kitchen, and they began speaking so loud that it was disruptive. No inside whatsoever particularly inside of a restaurant. I have read most of the reviews. I am quite surprised at the amount of five stars. People have given this place. But I suppose there's no accounting for taste. The two stars or the one star rating seem to be more accurate. the five star rating is accurate. It obviously is hit and miss. How disappointing that is for us customers. Oh, and then there was a line for the tip on the receipt and I'm thinking to myself for what? You rudely took my order you didn't greet me for what I would consider a correct greeting walking into someone's establishment and you think whatever it is you may or may have not done is worthy of a tip. Trust me, I am not anti-tip for good service.

Yelp
Best egg rolls and hot & sour soup in town. Good selection of entrees, including seafood

Yelp
Poor service. Unfriendly staff. Cold and overpriced food. Shameful. This used to be my favorite "go to" restaurant for friendly service, welcome smiles, great value for the money, and the best Chinese food in town. Always served, piping hot, generous portions, and savory goodness in every bite. Michelle!!! What has happened???

Yelp
One of my Soldiers told me he really liked this place, especially the Mongolian Beef. I came for lunch and they've a lunch special which is just the right amount of food for lunch. Comes with a bowl of soup and either white or fried rice and I ordered the Mongolian Beef. It's ok. Nothing special, though I definitely had worse Chinese food here in EP. But definitely not authentic Chinese, very Americanized.

Isaac M.

Yelp
Restaurant was clean and staff was nice and polite. We ordered the eggrolls as appetizers they were great, best part of the meal . We also ordered beef lo mein. the beef was really thinly cut it was disappointing but the noodles and sauce were decent. The kung pao was just ok and the sesame chicken had big pieces with lots of meat inside. Overall just the typical chinese Restaurant experience.

Shawn Dalton C.

Yelp
The go to spot for lunch specials! Service and speed has me going back time and time again. Great setting and atmosphere.

Evelyn E.

Yelp
Literally says restaurant closes at 7pm. Have been calling no answer. Decided to go and is Literally 632pm and as I ask in they say oh kitchen is closed. False advertisement. Its a Saturday evening, really!

Alexa P.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great service! I got the wonton soup and it was bomb. My mother got the orange chicken and it was super good as well. Not the biggest portions, but the taste was great. I also loved the fried wontons that they serve with a very sweet sauce that is complementary. Definitely recommend! Another bonus is that I love how mother friendly they are. They allow their workers to spend time with their babies and carry them while working so I believe thats awesome

marie f.

Yelp
Disappointing. The tea was so weak you couldn't taste anything but hot water. The food was not even mediocre. The Hunan shrimp were not fresh, they were rubbery, over cooked and flavorless. The sweet and sour pork had an unpleasant taste to the coating. And finally, when you pay the cashier, you are not given a copy of what you sign, your copyBeef Lo MeinjHunan Shrimp only has the total charged so if you want to check the accuracy, do it before you actually pay.

Yelp
By El Paso standards this might be great, but anywhere else this would be meh... Friendly service. Slow to refill drinks. Food was ok, but nothing special. I had lemon chicken, which seemed like 2 frozen breaded chicken patties with a little lemon sauce drizzled over it. Not enough sauce for each piece to get some. Searved with overcooked bland fried rice. So would I refuse to meet somebody there for a meal? No. Would I suggest to meet there? Again, no...
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure how this place is so highly rated. The comments regarding the service being slow and on the edge of rude were correct. The food was undercooked and spongy and sauces very quickly congealed, sugary but otherwise flavorless. Not sure if there's anything better for Chinese food in El Paso but this place was not up to standards anywhere else. Check elsewhere for good food.

Daisy S.

Yelp
Good soup , interior could use some work table was a bi wonky . Nice staff and a lot of COVID precautions. Reasonable pricing .

Yelp
Great neighborhood restaurant. Lunch specials are awesome. The delivery is a lil bit different from traditional Chinese restaurants. Instead of bringing you egg rolls with your meal they bring a plate of egg rolls to enjoy like an appetizer. I ordered the lemon chicken. It was a really good. The chicken is lightly breaded and the lemon flavored glaze was tasty. They also bring big bowls of rice to share. Overall the food was good. The ambience is nice too. It's like a classy place with very decent prices. I've been here before and I'll be back..
google avatar

P H.

Yelp
The food is more than enough to share, if you order a dinner. I ordered orange chicken and fried rice. The chicken was pretty big pieces and crispy, which I liked. I do not recommend the lo mein noodles. The fried dumplings were okay, and I do not prefer steam. This is just a texture thing. The staff was super sweet.

Yelp
Love Love this place. Authentic Chinese food. Service is always Fantastic. Chicken low mein is to die for, as is everything else on their menu. Egg drop soup is THE best! Hot n sour is adored by hubby... Ordering by phone to pick up is a breeze and excellent customer service too. Highly recommend.

Tury L.

Yelp
Hidden little gem that serves authentic Chinese food and is now open dining. I recommend going during lunch time, the portions are very large for only $10. Highly recommended if your in the area.

Yelp
Great atmosphere ! Great food ! Great service ! Best Chinese food in El Paso If you haven't been you must go

Yelp
This is the second and last time, I will order/buy food from this Restaurant.... when I place the order over the phone, i specifically ask to make sure the Chicken was well done, and it wasn't..., Orange Chicken had that "funny" smell and taste... so we all stomach sick.... In addition to this, the ATTITUDE OWNERS /EMPLOYEES HAVE ...IS LIKE THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR... Ugly, not friendly, the always are in a hurry... and DONT ASK FOR ANYTHING EXTRA such as Small Cup of Sweet and Sour Sauce because is NOT FREE... I WONT COME BACK.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been coming to this place for years. Typical order for us is Jjajangmyun, Jjampong, Tangsooyook, Fried rice and a few others dependent upon occasion. FYI, the portions are huge!! Definitely made for family style dining. I highly recommend the Jjampong!! (Spicy seafood soup with noodles) Delicious!
google avatar

Dessiray R.

Yelp
Ummm not much to say except we're sitting in front of this place at 835p and they aren't open, despite their website saying they close at 9p. Definitely won't make the mistake of not calling before driving lol
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
FYI... This restaurant does not accept American Express I have to say, I really did enjoy the food at this restaurant. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was pretty good. I ordered sesame chicken with added cashews and no MSG. I would have really enjoyed this dinner more if they had used a little bit more white meat and a lot less fatty meat chicken. Prior to my dinner, I ordered steamed dumplings, which I didn't realize would be so large. I think I could've made a meal out of that. That appetizer is definitely worth sharing with at least three people. Now, here comes my gripe. Since I am traveling on company business, I am forced to use a corporate American Express card. Prior to coming to this restaurant, I checked to see if American Express would be excepted, as I have noticed that most Chinese restaurants don't seem to accept it. I checked the yelp page and I saw a list of credit cards, where one of which, was American Express. To my shock, as I put my credit card on the table with the bill, I was told my card would not be accepted. To give the restaurant credit, the manager did come over to us after hearing us discussing this with the waitress and asked us where we saw this, and I showed her the yelp page that I had. She profusely apologized and stated they could not except the card as American Express charged them too much. I certainly am not going to rate them lower because of this, because that is an error I think more with the yelp application. I think yelp needs to do a better job of alerting people who use that application which forms of payment are accepted.

Yelp
I love this place. It has been my go to Chinese restaurant for YEARS. Consistently good quality food.

Angel E.

Yelp
It was some of the worst tasting food I've ever had. Maybe the chefs had a bad day but it was pretty bad
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese takeout within walking distance from my house! It's too bad they don't deliver, but man the food was great! We had some orange and sesame chicken, fried rice, wonton soup and egg rolls. Will 100% order when the hankering for Chinese is real!
google avatar

Antonino T.

Yelp
Very awesome little place nice decor food is great and the service was good to probably one of the best Chinese I've had in El Paso for sure
google avatar

Shawnette A.

Yelp
So I came here tonight because being from Philly I'm feigning for good Chinese. This is better than panda. Service is really good. Egg rolls are adequate. Duck sauce is sweet, like mango which was different but good. Love that you get refills tableside. The hot mustard was runny but still spicy. The Mongolian beef was very good. The egg foo young looked weird but tasted good, just needed more sauce. The fried rice was ok. The dumplings are huge! Everyone was so friendly and the restaurant is old school cute.

Yelp
Only 4 stars due to slow service. We went on a Friday night at 5pm right after work and it wasn't too busy. We sat ourselves, were given menus, and waited for our waters for a long time. We finally got the drinks and ordered our meals. We tried the house tofu at the spiciest level available, the tofu vegetable soup, and the side of kimchi. We were given noodle chips as a free appetizer. The tofu dish was very good, big portions, hints of Orange, tons of sweet and spicy asian red chili sauce. The soup was very light, huge bowl of miso broth with steamed mushroom and tofu. The kimchi is great on the side to add fresh crunch to your dish. We will go back but maybe order take out if we don't want to wait!
google avatar

Shawn V.

Yelp
Excellent food and great customer service every time I visit! I love spicy and the cooks always deliver!
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming here for years and just never reviwed it. As far as chinese goes, one of my old reliables. Standout dishes include orange chk/beef, mongolian beef, mu shu pork, and hunan chk/beef. Their eggrolls are all vegetable but still the tastiest, freshest eggrolls around. Love their hot mustard, different than all other chinese places in town. Just spoon it on everything!
google avatar

Janette M.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese joint here in El Paso. Love their Chicken Low Mein. It's fantastic! Always delicious, and amazing quality.

Yelp
Wanted to try something new but failed. Waited 15 mins and just walked out. Only one waitress. Very poor customer service .
google avatar

Maggie P.

Yelp
The service is very fast so I decided to time them; 1:34 had drinks, 2:49 had soups, 3:54 had egg rolls and finally our food came at 9:34. My date and I enjoyed it. Was not the best, was not the worst. One thing for sure, service is quick, accurate and friendly. They don't speak in a Mickey Mouse voice but are cordial.

J H.

Yelp
This is the only place I have gone to for years because of the great food despite of the mediocre service. We have yet to find anywhere that serves a better Mongolian Beef or Teriyaki Chicken.

Juan D.

Yelp
I went to Shan Dong on an early Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. I ordered off their current menu (which has changed from the photos from 2015). I ordered egg rolls (delicious!) with hot oil and the Hot Beef dinner and added the Bomb Hot version. Now...you can add varying degrees of 'heat' to any dish and the Bomb Hot is the hottest. So when they brought out my dish from the kitchen I knew I struck gold when me and everyone else in the restaurant started coughing and my eyes started burning for a few moments when they brought my dish. It was DELICIOUS too. Then everyone from the kitchen came out to watch this white guy eat their dish and a customer waiting for his take out asked 'What dish is that? I want to order that next time?!' Be warned if you add the Bomb Hot variation you will get a very delicious BUT very hot dish. If you like that then you will be in Bomb Hot heaven. I'm definitely going back to this delightful and fun place.

Yelp
Pros: Great egg rolls and Hunan beef. The egg drop soup was okay but I'm not a huge fan of egg drop in general. Decent lunch prices too. Cons: The service was a little slow at times.
