Where To Get Chinese Delivery And Takeout In NYC

"Shan is, by far, your best option for Chinese delivery in Cobble Hill. The shredded duck fried rice and green peppercorn fish are some of our favorite things to eat in front of the TV. But you can also have a fancy date night-in, with lobster mapo and black pepper wagyu. Pick-up and delivery are both available on their website, with a small discount if you get a pick-up order of $40 or more. " - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine

The Best Sichuan Restaurants In NYC

"Sure, you can get yourself a quality bowl of mapo tofu at a lot of the places on this list. But have you ever had yours with a lobster tail on top? Shan is one of the few Sichuan options in Cobble Hill, and they make it count. Lobster mapo, black pepper wagyu, black truffle soup dumplings can all take date night up a notch. Try and sit at one of the tables across from the bar, where you can get a view of the glowing Siguniang Mountains mural behind the bartender. " - neha talreja, hannah albertine, diana kuan

The 17 Best Restaurants In Cobble Hill

"Cobble Hill isn’t exactly known for its Sichuan food, but you can get a proper, fiery bowl of mapo tofu at Shan. They’ve got those creamy dan dan noodles we all want in our takeout rotation, plus some flashier dishes worth changing out of your sweatpants for, like black truffle soup dumplings and spicy whole crabs. Try and snag one of the tables across from the bar, where you can get a view of the Mount Gongga mural glowing behind the bartender." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, neha talreja, will hartman

Shan Review - Cobble Hill - New York - The Infatuation

"Cobble Hill isn’t exactly known for its Sichuan food, but the folks behind Shan are great ambassadors for the cuisine. You can go casual or fancy with your food here. We usually save the shredded duck fried rice and green peppercorn fish for take-home meals in our sweatpants. Eating inside the restaurant itself—with its deep blue color scheme and soft pendant lamp lighting—feels a touch more formal, and you should order accordingly. Their lobster mapo, black pepper wagyu, and black truffle soup dumplings can all take date night up a notch. Try and sit at one of the tables across from the bar, where you can get a view of the Mount Gongga mural glowing behind the bartender. photo credit: Kevin Li" - Neha Talreja

Food and cocktails were delicious, staff were so fantastic. Especially loved the dry pot. Only downside was we felt like the 4 seater tables/chairs were a little too tight for us to sit comfortably in and were pretty small people.

Google
One of our favorite restaurants, Shan never disappoints! We've been here 10+ times. Our go-tos are the dan dan noodles, scallion pancakes (so crispy!), lamb dry pot, and snow pea shoots. The wintermelon ice tea is delicious too although a little expensive. We also tried the chongqing chicken (crispy and spicy) and szechuan wontons recently which were yummy too. They do charge tip on the amount including tax for the preset percentages, which isn't great (usually I just do 20%).

Went to celebrate lunar new year and opted for the restaurant week menu for dinner. For $60, it’s an amazing deal. So much food which also comes with two alcohol beverages. I ordered an extra cocktail, nutty fashioned, which was delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty. This restaurant was really busy and totally understand that there were times where dishes were missing or came out really late, esp given it was lunar new year. The server was the friendliest person and was so positive the entire night. It was a long dinner that lasted close to 3 hours but was so worth it. Definitely recommend their Szechuan dishes and soup dumplings!

Google
We went here for dinner. It was very busy, so we sat at the bar. The layout is a typical NYC street restaurant. The food was awesome, as well as the services. We truly enjoyed our dining experience there. The waiters and waitresses seem all in their 20s, very enthusiastic on what they do and very friendly, always with a smile! The dishes are more on the Sichuan style but they all spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. They are a creative set of drinks, a bit pricy but perhaps normal in NYC. We ordered a shrimp dish and the waiter considerately asked us if we prefer to peel the shrimp shells off before cook them. We really appreciate it. The spicy chicken was also really good. Highly recommended!

After a day of seeing the sights of New York (statue of liberty, world trade centre memorial, stock exchange, Brooklyn bridge,…..) we had dinner at Shan’s in Brooklyn and I must say it ranks in the same league as the other sights. After living in Sichuan for over 12 years I can honestly say the food is as authentic as I’ve had outside of Sichuan!! The flavours are exactly as I expect, the quality and service were first rate. The MaPu tofu is to die for as is the dumplings in chilli sauce. Looking forward to going back and trying more, another excuse to visit New York.

Google
11/10 service, would come back. We went to celebrate my birthday. Place was beautiful, servers were super attentive, food came fast and was delicious. I loved the black truffle soup dumplings and scallion pancake. And the matcha tea latte tastes amazing. I also loved that the lamb dry pot was the perfect amount of spiciness for me. Can’t wait to try the spicy fried chicken bits next time!

Google
Today I was feeling Chinese food then I found this online but here's what I thought about it. So my friend and I went and we got The kung Pao chicken, scallion pancakes, wontons and broth, pork pot stickers Xiao long bao and rice. I'm gonna start off with the best, so my favorite was the Scallion pancakes, they tasted like traditional Chinese scallion pancakes, they were flakey not fried too much and not oily so overall I give them a 9/10. Now the pork potstickers they were basically like regular gaozi they were pretty good so I give them a 7/10 not the best but not the worst. Then the wontons and broth, in my opinion they could be more flavorful for my taste but it tastes much like traditional wontons in soup so I give it a 7.5/10. Now the Xiao Long Bao, they were honestly pretty good they were pretty flavorful with the sauce they give and overall a solid 8/10 . The rice was a bit dry and I had to add water to it due to the dryness so that was a 5.2/10 for me. And lastly one of their most popular mains the item that determined this rating, The infamous Kung Pao Chicken, honestly they were very disappointing, they were a popular item so I had my hopes up but they were soon brought way down, I thought they would be flavorful and actually tasting like chicken but they were not flavorful, doughy (they added way too much cornstarch) and overall not the best so honestly it's a 2/10. So overall I was a little mean but this does not deserve a 5 star rating (in my opinion) and I hope this helped you decide if you wanted to come or not.

Google
Came here for Restaurant Week - what a perfectly balanced and rich menu (pre-fix menu also includes a glass of wine and a cocktail). We had XO Sauce Oyster Mushroom and Fresh Squid w/Garlic and Chili Oil for appetizer (very flavorful); perfectly tender and juicy Pork Soup Dumplings (black truffle and pork roe); Lychee Kung Pao Crispy Pork and Braised Beef w/Abalone in Tomato Sauce for entrée (hearty portions and great taste); Sweet & Sour Cabbage and Snow Pea Shoots w/Garlic for vegetable (the best part of the meal! fresh, yummy and such a symphony of tastes!) and Yuzu Coconut Cotta and Osmanthus Ice Jelly for dessert (just the right amount of sweetness and fun texture!) - everything was up to par! Service was very delicate and attentive, and the whole atmosphere quite nice. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of Szechuan cuisine.

Yelp
This is a Sichuan cuisine. Staffs were friendly. We came on a Sunday night, no reservations needed. We ordered sweet and sour pork ribs, duck fried rice and pork belly entree. All were delicious. The entree was a little spicy. Overall, would recommend eating here. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

Yelp
Service: 5/5. I spilled my cocktail and the server quickly helped to clean it up and replace it, no questions asked. Food came out quickly. Mapo tofu: 5/5. Maybe my favorite. Spicy cumin lamb: 4/5. Liked its dryness and flavor Dry pot beef: 3.5/5. Well I liked some of the vegetables but the beef itself was ok. Soup dumplings: 5/5. Good size, full of broth, nice flavor, piping hot. Cocktails: 3/5. I liked my oolong, nicely presented and tasted floral, but the glass it is served in is prone to falling (the base is smaller than the top, and not a flute). My friend thought the creme brulee cocktail was ok, and i agreed. Neither drink seemed particularly alcohol strong. Nice ambiance for a casual-to-nice date or outing with friends. Spiciness level: was told the spiciness is authentic, not Americanized. We got the regular spicy level and it was indeed for real. So be warned or excited! But they are happy to adjust for hotter or milder if you ask.

Yelp
I was in Brooklyn for work, and had a hankering for Chinese food. It was a Friday night, so my husband and I definitely wanted a vibe that was nice (not take out), without compromising the flavor. After some lengthy research, we landed on Shan as an option. The restaurant was super cute, perfect for date nights or group dinners. We ordered soup dumplings, dan dan noodles, hot and sour soup, beef dry pot, and kung pao chicken. The soup dumplings had a delicious broth and the ground pork was extremely flavorful. The hot and sour soup invoked nostalgic memories for me, as it reminded me of the best one I had growing up in California. The dan dan noodles had a delicious spice that was complimented with the schezuan peppercorn for a little bit of numbness. The beef dry pot was AMAZING. Make sure to specify the spice level. It was definitely hot, but still delicious. The beef was so tender and not dried out or chewy. The vegetables made a hearty companion to the meat. I often use Kung pao as my litmus test for Chinese food, and this was definitely some awesome (and spicy) Kung pao! If ever in Brooklyn, I highly recommend!

Yelp
One of the few asian restaurants located in Dumbo, this one featuring Sichuan cuisine. The service here was fast with help tries their best to make you enjoy your experience. The food was quite good, one of best Chinese restaurants I've tasted in NYC. Given the location, the place felt just a little bit fancy, but not too much.

Yelp
When you walk in, you notice the nicely decorated restaurant and friendly staff. There's a bar with solid cocktails, though you can order at your table too. Everything was delicious including the Dan Dan noodles, beef dry pot, and my favorite - the spicy mayo tofu. Would recommend!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The wontons were good, but the overall flavor of the spice wasn't great. They were very spicy but just not my favorite. The soup dumplings were good not great. Kind of thick skinned. The best part of the meal was the hot and sour soup which I will definitely be back for! Service was awesome and the restaurant is beautiful, they even have a back patio. The table next to me got the Mapo Tofu and it looked phenomenal, maybe I just ordered wrong.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal here tonight. Started with soup dumplings--can't go wrong with that. We got the house speciality--ma la dry pot, a stewed fish dish, Dan Dan noodles, spicy cumin lamb and the veggie dishes-- dry-fried green beans, bok choy and snow pea shoots. The only dish that was a bit plain was the fish. Everything else was very flavorful, sliced nicely and seemed authentic.

Yelp
In a neighborhood where Chinese options are largely limited to fast casual and ancient takeout spots, this solidly classy sit-down Szechuan space has been a welcome addition for the past few years. The food is mostly of excellent quality, and the service is better than the Chinatown spots of my youth would have me expect. This is not the place for General Tso's chicken. They specialize in proper Szechuan cuisine. Accordingly, the mapo tofu is the real deal, spicy and excellent. I'm always happy to get it, and my shirt never is. The Chungking Chicken is a winner, and I'm always happy to eat the dan dan noodles. I have yet to try the Kung Pao, but I've heard good things. The starters are also of good quality. Scallion pancakes are awesome, soup dumplings, although Shanghaiese, are still quite good (although better ones can be had for cheaper a few blocks north at Nan Xiang), and the wontons in chili oil are great. Speaking of which, ask for some chili oil and use it liberally to punch anything up, especially the Stewed Fish with Vegetables, which is an excellent choice if your mom also can't handle the heat. I like how the lunch specials come with some pickled veggies. I like pickled things. There's a full bar, and even a negroni on the happy hour menu that I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. However, the wine and sake are both quite affordable if you come in early. Give it a go.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing for both food and service! We were able to easily make a reservation for 8 online & were seated at one of their large tables in the back. The waitress was friendly & attentive, constantly refilling our water jug. The food came out pretty fast and everything was flavorful & unique. There's plenty of pescatarian and vegetarian options, as well as some not-too-spicy things. My favorites were the lobster dish & veggie fried rice. They also have a creative cocktail menu. At the end they sang happy birthday to my partner & brought out a candle in green tea ice cream. This place is a real gem!

Yelp
Shan was a very cute and quaint restaurant. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a mouthwatering fragrance of Chinese food. The staff were very nice and welcoming! The level of service here was top-notch, we didn't even have to ask the staff to refill our water - the moment our water was running low, the staff came and replaced the water jug! The soup dumplings were soo good! The dumpling wrappers were handmade and thin, showcasing the expertise of their chefs in the back. The soup and the filling were so flavorful that I did not need much vinegar at all! The spicy cumin lamb was quite spicy - a little too spicy for my tastebuds, but it smelled incredible! If you have a low spice tolerance, I would avoid this dish or ask for less spice. The stringbeans were so delicious! We demolished the plate of stringbeans. It was so flavorful and full of umami! The taste was so addicting and we couldn't help ourselves from eating more and more! The beef noodle soup was really tender and warms you right up, with just the right amount of spice. The desserts were so delicious as well! I personally loved the ice lychee jelly! It was not too sweet and the foam on top reminded me of a very light icecream! The rice cakes were yummy as well - but they tend to stick to your teeth, so just a word of caution there! Overall, the experience here was great! It would be a cute spot to bring someone on a date!

Yelp
Came here on late Saturday afternoon and was seated quickly. It wasn't busy and it had a nice, dark ambiance with no blasting music - perfect for girl's night therapy talks and probably good for dates. We had the crab roe soup dumplings, duck fried rice, dry pot cauliflower, and scallion pancakes. The crab roe soup dumplings were savory and warm - perfect for colder weather. The duck fried rice was a bit bland but was saved by the soy sauce from the other dishes. The dry pot cauliflower was highly complimented by my friend - it was really tasty but also had a spicy kick. The scallion pancakes were thin, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, oily but meshed well with sweet soy sauce. They had a great drink selection too. We opted for the coffee milk tea and the jasmine lychee. Both were sweet but not too sweet. Overall, we had a good time here. Would come back for their crab roe soup dumplings.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here. It's solid place, though a bit pricy for the portion size. Overall, the flavors lack the numbing spice that I was expecting. Chongqing chicken ($24) - there's not much actual chicken in this dish, and of the chicken, most of it is the fried batter part. Didn't come that crispy either, but that could also be to blame of ordering delivery. Flavor is ok, a little spicy but not numbing. I do like how you can specify less salt. Spicy cumin lamb ($26) - also small portion size, and not much actual lamb as opposed to veggies. The lamb is quite chewy too. Mung bean noodles ($10) - they do it like the blocks here instead of the actual noodle texture. I found the sauce pretty unflavored but the actual jelly is good. Black sesame ball ($6) - comes with 4 balls, tastes as expected.

Yelp
I love my Asian food and never crave for sze chuan --- but Shan is delicious! Their happy hour and cocktails are delicious as well. Come for lunch special and happy hour, so worth !!!!

Yelp
We came here for dinner during the winter restaurant week which is a steal for 5 courses and 2 drinks for $60. My friend and I ordered the following: -Beef with grilled pepper cold jelly - really good and flavored well. -fresh squid with garlic and chili oil - really good and flavored well. -black truffle dumplings x2 (came with 2 per order) - tasty but I've had better. -crispy prawns with garlic sauce with side of rice - this was a let down. It was cooked great but a little bland. It definitely needed more sauce. -roasted duck with sturgeon caviar with side of rice - really good duck with caviar and portion was good! I wish there was two buns though since my friend and I shared all the dishes. The one bun is definitely not enough to eat with all the duck. -tofu with garlic sauce - this was delicious and sauced and flavored well -snow pea shoots with garlic - typical fare but was too salty. -yuzu coconut cotta - this was my favorite dessert! The yuzu definitely comes out. -Osmanthus ice jelly - not bad, but the Osmanthus is too mild -Orange wine - not my favorite as it was too sharp -cocktail with vodka and tea - tasty! I really enjoyed the strong tea flavor but a little too sweet. The appetizers were the star of the show. Everything was cooked well, there just needs to be some adjustments to seasonings and the amount of sauce for some dishes. The service was quick and easy. Since the tables were small, the waiters were good at removing empty dishes as we finished so we had a little more space to work with. The dishes came out continuously and timely and we didn't have to wait long for the next course. Overall, would highly recommend the restaurant week menu and I would come back to try their regular menu next time. I really want to try more of their drinks because they look good.

Yelp
The pork soup dumplings are AMAZING. Chili oil is on point perfect spice level. Our server was very kind and attentive! Chill, clean atmosphere with beautiful style.

Yelp
Tl;:dr: the winter melon milk tea here was really good! We ordered it to go bcuz we choose beers with our meals instead and it was the perfect drink to cool down from the spice. Highly recommend! Ordered the spicy beef bowl, okra, and some other appetizers. The spicy beef bowl had Szechuan spice which gave a numbing sensation, and the okra was more milder in flavor but super crunchy.

Yelp
Wow. I am still thinking about this meal from this past weekend. We had a rehearsal dinner here for our dear friends in the private area in the back and it was fabulous! The outdoor patio was a cozy added bonus. Everything we had was so tasty! I especially liked the spicy lamb dish, mapo tofu with lobster, and the dumplings. Drinks were on point, service was excellent, and we loved our dinner here overall. Can't wait to be back soon next time we're in Brooklyn!

Yelp
There aren't many Chinese spots in the neighborhood, so I was intrigued to check Shan out. The interior is very fancy and elegant with an upscale vibe. The prices also match the expensive flair here. Although they do offer some happy hour drink deals from opening at 11:30am until 6:30pm. The happy hour has a few beers and cocktails for $5 and $9, respectfully. I had the Purple Galaxy, which was pretty and light. For food, we started off with the Pork Soup Dumpling ($8 for 4pcs). This was good, but definitely pricey. Then we also got the Spicy Cumin Lamb ($26) with Rice ($2) and Szechuan Beef Noodle Soup ($16). The food is super authentic and spicy as Szechuan food should be. I loved how tender the beef is on the noodle soup, which was comforting and packed with chili. The lamb were good too, but that was too pricey for me, especially since rice was extra. If you're looking for an elevated Szechuan spot, this is solid. It is pricier, but it's expected in this neighborhood. The beef noodle soup satisfies my cravings though.

Yelp
This place was to die for. Went with a group of friends I'll never forget for my last weekend in NYC I asked for a léchée Martini and i got lighter fluid! Haha tasty but STRONGGGGG AS HECK! They go have mocktails as well. Two of us ordered the duck fried rice, which was just superb! I would only say i wish it had more duck in it. And the other two orders eggplant and garlic dish which was amazing (to sample from) The service was great and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Would def go again
google avatar

Sharon J.

Yelp
Delicious and cute Szechuan food in Boerum Hill with huge portions and good value! My favorite dish was the cold eggplant in a garlic chili oil sauce, which I had never had before. Reminded me of a steamed eggplant dish my grandma makes. We also got the beef dry pot and fish fillet in chili oil, which were both delicious but not as spicy or numbing mala as I would've like, but good if you don't like things too spicy! The fish fillet dish was filled to the brim with fish, so they don't skimp on the portions at all. The chrysanthemum yuzu cocktail was very good as well. Overall, really enjoyed my time here! Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5

Yelp
We frequented this place several times during our 2-month stay in NYC and absolutely loved it. The eat-in eatery is great for a date night. Service is extremely friendly and quick! Plentiful food and a large menu to choose from. The tea drinks are THE BEST!!! If we'd ever come back to Cobble Hill, we'd definitely make a stop here!
google avatar

Dipali G.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of szechuan food but Shan was actually great. The food really packs a lot of spice to I'd recommend going mild or less spicy. Good: we ordered the eggplant, pea shoots, and scallion pancakes for appetizers. I highly recommend the egg plant. It is marinated in this sweet sauce that serves as a nice base for the spicy mains. For our mains we shared the Mapo tofu and the Three Pepper Fried Tofu. I loved the consistency of the Mapo tofu, very good and spices the Three Pepper Fried Tofu is good but very spicy. I'd get both again at a reduced spice level. They also don't include rice, so I'd recommend getting the rice to reduce the spice. Price: very reasonably priced. All this food cost just a bit over $40. Service: great service. Attentive and kind Ambience: I liked the vibe of this place. There is a large space with ample seating and bar space
google avatar

Myra H.

Yelp
Decided to come here last minute on a Sunday and so glad we did! It was easy to get a last minute reservation and the restaurant itself is really nice and well decorated. The lychee jasmine drink was amazing. My favorite app was the eggplant with garlic (which has a LOT of garlic). The fried rice, string beans, and fish with chili sauce were all amazing - everything had the perfect balance of flavors and spice. The menu is huge so there is something for everyone. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday for a late lunch. We got the Dan Dan noodles, pork soup dumplings, and the beef dry pot. The beef dry pot was delicious, the other items were okay, nothing of note. The service was 10/10 and the ambiance inside is very nice. I will definitely come back for more dry pot.
google avatar

Najin K.

Yelp
For the location I had very low expectations but actually this place was great. Got the Mala Dry pot, Spicy Cucumbers, Scallion pancakes and everything was spicy. We went with medium spice which for asian people, was a good level.
google avatar

Rusty P.

Yelp
I popped in around 2pm, the place smelled amazing, and I took advantage of their awesome lunch menu and happy hour. The employees had a really fun camaraderie, and maintained a great vibe while serving a delicious meal and taking care of their customers.

Yelp
When you first walk in the restaurant itself looks small, little did we know there was more seating in the back with a beautiful skylight. Staff were extremely polite and friendly from start to finish. We were there for my mother's birthday and ordered a good amount of food. I was so hungry i didn't take pics of half the apps or the desserts. The hot and sour soup was the only let down, could have been more flavorful. The mapo tofu was probably the best I've had in a long time. Not pictured but we also had the whole braised fish which was amazing. Spice levels are pretty high but not unbearable. Only part i wasn't a big fan of was the 22% auto gratuity. I know most places do a 20% auto grat for parties 6+, 22% seemed excessive. I didn't realize the auto grat at first and told the server I would leave a cash tip, instead of informing me it was already included he just said okay thanks. Good thing i caught it in time.

Patale M.

Yelp
I had gone there for early dinners (the Dan Dan noodles are out of this world) until recently, when I realized they do takeout! I do not usually do Chinese takeout as there aren't any good options around me and I am weary of things arriving cold/ overcooked etc. I figured I would try them once. OMG the fish fillets in chili hot sauce was beyond delicious and the fish was NOT overcooked. Also had the fresh pea shoots; likewise perfectly cooked. 6 stars for a takeout option.
google avatar

Yelp
Shan is my go to szechuan spot in Downtown Brooklyn! The flavors are authentic, which are hard to come by in this area and believe me, the spice is no joke! Steamed egg with minced pork- A great option if you are looking for a non-spicy dish. The egg is so soft and flavorful. This is one of my favorite dishes here! Hot and Sour Soup- Really packs a kick! Stewed Fish Fillet with Chili Sauce - As authentic szechuan as it can get! The fish was super tender and you get that spicy mala numbing flavor all packed in one bite. Mapo tofu- A classic szechuan dish done very well by Shan. Highly recommend Shredded beef with green cayenne pepper - I find that this dish really spicy or not spicy at all depending on what day you order it. The beef is always super tender, but the pepper is either not spicy enough or super spicy.
google avatar

Avanti J.

Yelp
Shan was incredible! I've been looking for a good Chinese Restaurant in the area and decided to stop by Shan. I ordered the cauliflower dry pot and 3 pepper tofu and both were incredible. The perfect level of spicy, texture was amazing for both the cauliflower and tofu, and portion sizes were very generous. I was so excited to dig into the cauliflower that I forgot to take a picture until it was too late . I really appreciated all the vegetarian options as well and how delicious they were. Service was extremely kind and helpful, and the restaurant itself is beautiful - we had a celebration dinner here and it was the perfect spot. We did have a reservation on a Saturday night and ended up having to wait 20-30 mins to be seated, but given how popular the spot is and how good the food was I don't mind! Just good to keep in mind if you're going at a popular time. Shan is definitely going to be my new go to spot for Chinese food!
google avatar

Cale M.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place and make it a regular spot but it's too inconsistent in quality. On a good day, the sichuan food here is great. But they sadly have more off days than good days--had a lunch special today that was inedible. 鸡丁炒小辣椒 cubes of chicken stir fried with green pepper is a classic dish and honestly not very complicated. I was disappointed to receive large rubbery inedible blocks of chicken I think this place could be great, if they devoted more care and attention to their cooking
google avatar

Drew W.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to Shan. What caught my eye initially was the decor of the interior. You can tell the owners took pride in sprucing up the place. I ordered a French 75, Scallion Pancake, Dumplings in Chili oil, Double cooked pork, and kung Pao chicken. Everything I tried was delicious. The double cooked pork was my favorite entree I've had in my week long trip to New York. I've found my Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn.

Yelp
Everything was so fresh and delicious the wait staff was attentive, we had the dumplings in chili oil, pork soup dumplings, Szechwan Beef Noodle Soup & Kung Pao Chicken. Everything was amazing, next time I need to try a cocktail!

I ordered delivery, and it highly exceeded my expectations. Everything was cooked and seasoned expertly. There was no sense that any dish was adjusted for a "white person taste." Ma-La Szechuan Wonton - loved this appetizer. Thin skins and a tender chew. But the best and most surprising part was the (?) szechuan chili flakes (?) sprinkled atop the wontons. Pickled Wood Ear Mushroom - Average, but still pleasing. I like that it's chilled and has finely diced chili peppers, but I wish there was a stronger vinegar flavor. Lamb Dry Pot - This is probably my favorite dish here. Each piece of lamb is tender and bursting with savory+spicy flavor. And I always love some well-cooked lotus root. Stewed FIsh w. Fresh Szechuan Peppercorn (for 2) - Huge serving of food. Standard dish with tender fish and lots of cabbage. Every bite is soaked in the hot oil (don't drink it!), which can start to weigh you down. Fried Rice with Mustard Green Shoot - Good flavor (maybe MSG?). I'm usually not a fan of ordering fried rice, but this was satisfying. Snow Pea Shoot with Garlic - This is a vastly superior version compared to the one at Kings Co. There is a pronounced garlic flavor, the pea shoot is perfectly cooked, and it is not underseasoned.

Yelp
Green peppercorn fish is my go to and has been consistently tasty! They don't use swai, which is a good thing. Shan also makes several simple dishes right: stir fried loofah, shredded potatoes, and the sautéed celtuce with wood ear mushrooms. It's smart to include those in the veggie section, they accompany flavorful meat dishes so well. Shan knows what they are doing!

Yelp
I dined here with friends for brunch during restaurant week, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. They have an excellent cocktail menu, as well as a variety of other options. The dishes were authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Service was top notch. I sat in the rear left corner of the spacious dining area, where it wasn't noisy but still had people nearby enjoying their dishes in good company.

Yelp
Amazing food and attentive service! I had the dry pot cauliflower and I had to hold myself back from ordering seconds. I will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Shan is another welcome restaurant addition to our Cobble Hill neighborhood. They specialize in Sichuan cuisine. We are excited to visit since I decided to have my birthday dinner here. The place looks small from the outside, but once inside, we noticed more dining tables at the back. The front of the restaurant has a retractable glass door that can be opened in warm weather. They are BYOB when we visited, the staff took our bottle and placed it in an ice bucket for us. (I added a star for that) We started with wonton with chicken broth that suits two people, we then had the fried chicken with garlic (it was nice that the dry chili is served as a side). And fried braised duck served with buns. We found both dishes delicious and freshly made. We then shared double-cooked pork; a thinly sliced pork belly, sautéed with leek and miso sauce together with shredded tea smoke duck fried rice. We both agreed that the dishes were delicious but slightly on the salty side. They have fantastic customer service here, and I will likely visit this place again, but will probably tell the chef to take it easy on the salt.

Yelp
We went here for dinner after seeing a movie nearby. We ordered scallion pancakes, pot stickers, dan dan noodles and the steamed pork belly with bok choi (you can specify the spiciness level for almost everything). Everything was excellent, I'd say the pork belly was the standout but the noodles were very tasty too. Staff were friendly and attentive. Prices are what you would expect (~$100 w/ tip for two people with a few drinks). Recommended, authentic Szechuan on Smith St. We'll be back!

Yelp
Thinking about the dandan noodles they had. I think im obsess it was really good and for the appetizer portion it makes you crave more with the right portion. They only had two peashoots in the bowl wish it had more, i love peashoots. Nice atmosphere and staffs were kind. Water was cold and refreshing. Decor were modern. Prices were alright. Only thing were the shredded beef were a bit too oily

Yelp
Came here for a second time during lunch and wow was I amazed yet again. The food is absolutely delicious, clean, non greasy, spicy, not too salty, flavorful. Our server was amazing, very knowledgeable about the menu and what and how much to order/ doing any modifications we had. And the decor of the place is just breathtaking as usual. Fav Szechuan spot Ive ever been to.

Yelp
Notes: Full menu on Toastlab https://www.toasttab.com/shan-191-smith-st/v3 Apparently related to Hupo in LIC according to Commercial observer https://commercialobserver.com/2021/07/sichuan-eatery-hupo-boerum-hill-191-smith-street/ Anway, Shan山川/Shan Chuan (if translated) is a nice new Szechuan restaurant. They had just opened recently but the place was packed. Along with regular seating, they have a nice bar area and I presume they're currently in the process of getting a liquor license. I ordered cumin lamb to go as I haven't had it in a while and it appeared to be a specialty of the house of their other location (if what that site says is true.) The service was friendly from the ordering process. The food perhaps took 15/20 minutes to be ready and when I got home it was piping hot. The lamb was excellent (not too much chew) and seriously spicy. This was easily one of the hottest version of this dish I have had (unexpectedly so as I wasn't in Flushing) and I am happy to have found a place for me to go if I really want a spice kick. The price was high compared to my usual cumin lamb (especially as rice is extra, why) but it is Boerum Hill so it is to be expected. Will go back for the boiled fish and other dishes. Will leave it with a 5 instead of a 4 as it's a newcomer.

Yelp
Went here for a quiet dinner. The ambiance was quite nice. Lit enough to see everything but not too bright that it wasn't intimate. It seemed like a slow night so service was very quick. We got quite a bit including some dim sum, Dan Dan noodles and fish dry pot. Everything was quite good and well spiced. Will definitely be back

Yelp
This Szechuan restaurant is great for all taste palates! The ambiance is modern and sleek. The food is delicious. We got the Dan Dan noodles and shrimp dumplings to start. The Dan Dan noodles were the star of the show. For the main, we got the soy tofu with a side of rice and the pea shoots. These dishes paired really well together and I would get the soy tofu again. Service was great as well. Overall, I would come back here with my Chinese family.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this place enough. From the moment my friend and I arrived, we were treated so nicely. We had an 8pm reservation on a Friday. There was about about a 15 minute delay, but the host was so sweet and accommodating. This was especially what sold me. The host was so pleasant and well mannered. We were sat at our table and met with the nicest waiters. They were very enthusiastic and kind. They checked up on us frequently and with each request, we were met with smiles. The food is very good! We had : the pork dumpling in chili oil, sweet and sour ribs, pork soup dumpling, and shredded beef with green cayenne pepper.Everything was delicious. You can seven adjust the spice amount prior to the meal. All in all 10/10!!!

Yelp
Was seated right away on a Friday night. Service seems to be lacking, takes a bit to get someone's attention sadly. We had the crispy pork, Dan Dan noodles, hot and sour soup, szechuan wontons, chunqing spicy chicken, and sliced pork belly in garlic sauce. The crispy pork itself was dry and had about zero flavor if you didn't dip it in the seasoning. Everything else on the contrary was super flavorful, almost too flavorful it feels like you'll need a palette cleanser in between bites. The pork belly was my favorite. I thought everything else was decent. But you will definitely need a thirst quenching drink after this meal. The food is okay, place itself is nice, service was lacking although they were nice. I'm glad I tried Shan, worth trying but not sure if it'll be a staple for me.

Yelp
#Shan has been on my radar for a bit. Here are some of my highlights from my experience: The hostess was super friendly and informed us that there was a wait for a table. She offered to sit as at the bar - the place has a great ambiance. Happy hour was until 6:30 PM so I tried a drink called Utterly Tingling ($9) and Rose Lychee -both were delicious cocktails. The bartender's pour for the wine was much less than expected for a glass. Food: Pork soup dumplings, dan dan noodles (v. spicy), scallion pancakes - all great and flavorful. Our entree was the Kung Pao chicken ($19) with brown rice and it was a dish we left unfinished. The chicken had all the flavors but I could not enjoy it as it was super chewy. The brown rice was undercooked.- a disappointing finish to a solid start. We were the only ones sitting at the bar so service felt short due to not being offered another drink or basic questions like "how's your food or do you want your food to go". It would have been a good opportunity to talk to the bartender about the food. I would return for the happy hour and apps.
