"This Vancouver neighborhood bar has a relaxed atmosphere with more than 20 beers on draft, pool tables, and arcade games. While much of the menu focuses on sandwiches and generic bar snacks, Shanahan’s offers a braised corned beef hoagie with horseradish sauce and beer-battered Alaskan cod fish and chips, plus Irish American standards like “Irish nachos.” Those into the distilled elements of Irish pub culture should head to the Infirmary, the adjacent sibling to Shanahan’s; the bar features more than 250 varieties of whiskey, including several of Ireland’s finest. The Infirmary also offers a wide range of cigars that can be enjoyed on the smoke-friendly patio." - Maya MacEvoy

"Shanahan’s isn’t a place for craft cocktails and chef-y small plates; this is where locals go for inexpensive drinks and hearty fare in a low-key, Irish-inspired, but thoroughly classic American neighborhood bar, complete with heartfelt bathroom graffiti, a pool table, and a lifelike painting of The Dude. The popular Shany fries — a mixture of tots and fries coated in melted cheddar cheese, bacon bits, scallions — are $7 and served with a side of ranch. The $7 Irish nacho is a plate of potato skins topped with tender corned beef, sauerkraut and melted cheese. Drinks specials change daily; prices hover around the $5 - $10 mark. Upscale beverages are available next door at The Infirmary." - Rachel Pinsky

They are dog friendly so that was great! We were able to sit at the outdoor patio. I liked all of my food and they have a good draft selection. Garlic cheese bread was lit. Fried pickles were also super tasty. Food didn't take too long. We went on a weekday lunch time. Definitely recommend.

We were looking for a dog friendly establishment one Saturday morning after checking out the Saturday Market. We had come across this place but didn’t know if it was pet friendly. Went inside and talked with the bar staff and they confirmed their outdoor patio seating area was dog friendly. It was prefect. You had to order at the bar which was no big deal. It was between breakfast and lunch time. We ordered Irish Nachos & Biscuits & Gravy and dog patty for our doggies. Ordered a peach mimosa and a beer. My mimosa came with a beautiful garnish and was quite tasty. The food was wonderfully presented and tasted pretty yummy. Would highly recommend giving it a shot!

Kind of an Irish pub/roadhouse. They have one of the better valued happy hours in Vancouver. It's not fine dining but the large variety of items available on the happy hour menu is the best I've seen (3-7pm).The sausage and pretzels are good. I like how salty the pretzels are. My wife likes the mild sausage. I like the smoked chicken quesadilla without the BBQ sauce. The cod tacos are good. We don't care for the caprese salad but the Cesar looks much better. The Irish nachos are yummy. The mac & cheese with corn beef are a huge hit. The club sandwich is ample and excellent. I like that it's only two pieces of bread. Onion rings are ok. The garlic cheese bread is like a grilled cheese sandwich and is wonderful. The sliders are not great. They have some kind of jelly on them. Also the buns are very dry. Only pedestrian cocktails at best. They make a pretty good bloody Mary. The Stairway stout is very good. Ample parking. The Infirmary, next door has far better spirits. Check my other reviews to find great eateries. and craft cocktail bars. -VanPort Insider✌🏼

Older bar tender woman was having a very bad night. Not busy, few customers. Totally rude for no reason. Example: I asked what could be mixed with Bailey's, and she said I'm not giving you the list. Very short and snappy. After some rude comments I said, "you know you should try smiling?" She said, "if you don't like it you can just leave." In which we happily obliged. My buddy and I left. But hey, if you like having rude bartenders serve you, then this is the place to go. Enjoy.

If you’re considering this place, do it! The team is friendly, the food is awesome, and the new patio, we haven't been in years, was completely comfortable and fun! The space was great, and I never felt rushed or overlooked. This is now my go-to spot, and I’m so grateful I found it again.

One of the last relics left of old Vancouver. Go here to experience Vancouver of yesteryear. This bar is fantastic. Great service, alcohol, and food! Never a miss.
