Shandaken Inn

Platonic ideal if what an inn in the mountains should be! The folks running this place really nailed the labor of love with a super professional approach (they run a bunch of summer camps in the area). I love the room names harken back to the Catskill resorts of yore. The ski boot room is amazing, we were soaked from a wet day on the mountain and everything was bone dry the next day. Warm ski boots is a huge score. The restaurant is great, the lodge lobby is cozy and inviting with the running fire and the breakfast was top notch. Would definitely revisit!!

For many years, we have always enjoyed going to the Shandaken Clubhouse for dinner. As a special treat, we decided for our wedding weekend we would expand our experience, spend a few nights in one of their luxury rooms, and fully immerse ourselves in all they have to offer. Shandaken and their staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience they had to offer. We were greeted with congratulatory measures and kindness far beyond the scope of our expectations. They genuinely think of you as more than just a guest, they treat you like family. Not only did we enjoy our many meals, as the food in itself is exemplary, but we’re also able to experience their amazing cottages (thank you!), scenic hidden gem walkways, and relax by their many fire pits. At Shandaken, not only are you surrounded by the beautiful Catskill Mountains, but also by beautiful caring people. If you are looking for a place that has it all: above and beyond hospitality, scenic surroundings, five star culinary delights, and a fully encompassed amazing experience, look no further.

We celebrated after our wedding with you and it was such a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The bedding and bath products were incredible. The s’mores at night were a fun and lovely touch. Each morning we had an incredible breakfast. Each staff member was welcoming and helpful. Very well located to all of the towns, including Woodstock, Phoenicia, etc. perfect for a fall getaway. We will certainly be recommending to our friends and family and look forward to returning in the future.

Our recent dinner experience was excellent. The atmosphere, hospitality, service, and most importantly the food and wine were outstanding! We have visited Shandaken on several occasions and have had great experience on each. Drinks at the bar, dinner, or a weekend barbecue with live music, all have been great. Highly recommend all offerings.

Had a wonderful dinner and cocktails at Shandaken Inn . Staff were friendly and polite! Next time I will stay there when visiting the area high quality, warm and inviting! Very close to ski area.

My (now) wife and I are frequent flyers here for dinner. Recently we eloped and decided to splurge on a couple of nights at our favorite place, the Shandaken Inn. We arrived and were informed that they upgraded our room to one of their absolutely immaculate cottages. They left us a note and a bottle of champagne too. We had a spectacular day getting married, but this was icing on the cake! We honestly couldn't believe how above and beyond they went for us. We loved this place so much before, and they took it up yet another notch. We had such an incredible time staying here together. Their food is the best I've had in the Catskills, their outside eating area is so peaceful and we loved exploring the rail trail by the creek. The towels were soft, sheets very cozy, and coffee is excellent, I could go on forever. We love the Shandaken Inn and we were so spoiled this weekend, thank you guys so much!!!!!

We stayed here one night because of a power outage at our home and what a nice reprieve it was from all the stress! They let us check in very early as our room was ready, we had a delightful hearty breakfast, the dinner was sublime (and I can't get over how tasty the trout chowder was), and the room was perfectly cozy and well appointed. Also the location is excellent for hiking! We'll definitely be recommending this place to family and friends!!

We stayed at the Inn for 4 nights for our first stay in the Hudson Valley/Catskills|It is a beautiful Inn, nicely decorated with a very cozy feeling. It is convenient to many of the small towns that we wished to visit, and has wonderful hiking and scenery all around it. In fact, for the scenery, you can just sit outside at the Inn and enjoy the mountians, changing leaves, while having a drink at one of the many fire pits.|The staff is friendly and very helpful.|The breakfast, which is included , is very nice. I do wish there were lighter choices, along with some "bar" food for the dinner menu. We often had a late lunch and wanted more appetizers/drinks for our dinner. The bar area is very inviting and lends itself to this nicely, but there few choices, and we ended up eating elsewhere.|We would definitely come back here!

A hidden gem in the Catskills. Had dinner this evening on their veranda. Super cozy and nice hospitality. Ordered Caesar salad that was delicious, eggplant side, and cheeseburgers....very good. We'll be back!

A gem in the Catskills. Perfect for couples. Rooms are so fresh, clean, and updated for all modern conveniences. Bed is luxurious. Pool is lovely. Breakfast is generous and complimentary, with a full menu to choose from. Service is warm and friendly and everyone here is laid back. The guest room floor has a large fridge that can be shared. We enjoyed getting takeout one night and just lounging by the pool reading with the peaceful Catskills backdrop. It's pricey, but you do get more plentiful amenities than other luxe Catskills / Hudson Valley hotels. Will be back!

Lovely place for a getaway, with an amazing restaurant on the grounds. Everything clean and new, and also very homey and cozy.

Turned into trash in 2023, UNFORTUNATELY. My guess is they replaced the chef-- and then it all fell apart after that for them. Lots of trashy people in the space, lots of random kids running everywhere... random dogs... etc. (this used to be a somewhat refined place where you could take someone on a date or hold a business dinner) Now, prices are the same, except food is literal trash. There is no care, no effort about plating, and definitely no effort how it tastes. Over the past two years I have been there 12 times for dinner.... The 10th... 11th time things started to dwindle. Now after about 4 month hiatus we went back, and that will be the last, and final time. Menu is in same realm and tone as before, but completely unrefined, no presentation, no care, staff is moron level (some do not speak English). Lots of better options around... AVOID!!!!!!!!!

The food is very good despite the limited menu. However, The dining room itself needs some serious change. Eat outside on the pretty porch if the weather permits otherwise you'll be sandwiched between walls covered with weird blue wood paneling- an unexpected let down from the very cozy, and welcoming, bar and reception area. For the prices charged a tablecloth would be expected rather than a bare polyurethaned table. With a little bit of tweaking The Shandaken Inn's dining room could be in keeping with rest of the building and the lovely food.

Staff was unapologetically rude. My husband and I came with my parents and two children. After promptly seating a couple in front of us, the host told us that there was no room for us due to a large party and no option for take out. He said that we could wait for the party to be finished but he had "no idea" how long that would be. He made no effort to be helpful in any way or at the very least kind and courteous. A waitress I interacted with was also unhelpful and curt. Will never return and would not recommend!

My honey took me out for dinner for my bday to Shandaken Inn. We hadn't been there for at least 15 years. I cannot say enough about the Inn. The place is gorgeous and homey at the same time. All I can say is that the tagliatelle al funghi is the bomb one of the best pasta I have ever had. Gets a 10 Wonderful to see Raphael as it has been a while. He takes pride in his surroundings and he works really hard to maintain the beauty all around us in the Catskills. Way to go Raphael

FIVE STARS!! I would give more if it were possible. My husband and I came here after our wedding to relax for a few days. We swam in their beautiful heated pool, had a drink by the fire pit and played games in the lobby. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully decorated. Their restaurant was AMAZING - we ordered ceasar salad, scallops, homemade pasta, Arctic char, chocolate creme brûlée and another dessert I can't remember the name. Every dish was better than the last!! The Breakfast was THE BEST we've ever had. It was complimentary and wasn't your regular average buffet, it was sit down with a menu of over a dozen things to choose from - YUM. Their staff was top notch. Cody was our waiter at dinner and was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Rafael was wonderful, greeted us and always asked if we need anything. There was another guy who checked us in and another guy who helped us at breakfast and they were both so incredible nice. You would think the entire staff owned the Inn with how much they cared about our experience and the history of the Inn. There was even a gentleman building a new fire pit that was an absolute pleasure to have a quick chat with in the AM. Great place all around, top to bottom!!

We had such a great dinner! This place is SUPER dog friendly, my husband and I were able to eat outside on a cold night with our dog and the heater right by us, it was really comfortable and we were just happy to be able to have a nice meal where we could take our fur baby. They also provided blankets and hand warmers. Would 100% recommend, food was great and dog friendly is a a major plus!

This is the greatest new addition to the central Catskills in years! Some of the finest cuisine I have had. I love the attention to local produce and seasonal items. The chef and the kitchen is world class. Now to the service and ambience, sublime! The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, without being overbearing. The decor is beautiful and relaxing, definitely a romantic getaway or a wonderful place for a night out with friends and family. Fantastic! My husband and I had dinner here last night, our first post-COVID dinner outing. We were warmly greeted on arrival and led to a lovely table on the patio. The setting is lovely; the patio looks over a meadow with mature trees and mountains in the background. The furnishings are solid and rustic and in line with the setting. We had a lovely server who was professional and friendly. Cocktails were awesome and the menu is small but has something for everyone. I had the trout, which was delicious, and my husband had the burger, which he said was outstanding. Fries were cooked perfectly. We had a lovely evening and can't wait to return.

My wife and I and a couple friends stayed at the Shandaken Inn this past weekend for a ski trip to nearby Hunter Mountain. The Inn was perfect in every way! The setting was gorgeous, it is off of Rte 28 nestled in the mountains. It had a spacious living room with a wood burning fire, books on the Catskills and board games. The bar and restaurant served delicious food, drinks and desserts. Above all, the staff was incredibly nice and the hospitality was maybe the best we've ever experienced. We can't wait to come back! You will not be disappointed if you stay here!

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend stay for her birthday. The rooms are very pleasant and well decorated. The bed and sheets were awesome. The main area is welcoming and friendly with lots of places to read, relax or sit in front of the fire. We had dinner here on Friday night and it was awesome. I had venison loin with roasted vegetables and my wife had the mushroom tagliatelle. The dishes were great. In the morning the pastry chef had gluten free bread and muffins for me, which was lovely to have accommodated. We will come back and give Shandankan Inn a great review.

What a beautiful inn! Perfect serene weekend getaway with the feel of a resort but the warmth of a b&b. The breakfast was delicious and the iced lattes were my favorite. We had a standard room for two, but it was spacious and bright. An array of challenging hikes are available and Woodstock Brewing is only 10 min away. We also dined at the restaurant on site, and everything was perfect. The Shandaken Inn is an upscale yet cozy NY spot!

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights around New Years. When we arrived at the Inn, Tim and Raphael were there to greet us and check us in. They quickly provided us with our key and paperwork to sign, and ushered us to our room helping with our bags. The rooms are gorgeous! One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, and the fireplace was a great touch. The bathroom is the definition of luxury (don't forget to try the robes) and it came stocked with high end toiletries. My wife had packed a bottle of champagne and wine, and when we came back from lunch they had put wine glasses and champagne flutes in our room without us even having to ask which was really a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was delicious and they had something for everyone. I would highly recommend staying here and I'm sure we will be back in the future!

This is one of the sweetest, most incredible places I've ever stayed. The entire experience is excellent from the first minute you walk in. The staff is friendly, welcoming and warm and makes you feel at home immediately. Shout out to Marissa who served us breakfast every morning and remembered our names and orders every day! And to Rafael who is just beyond words amazing! They anticipate every need and make you part of their Shandaken Inn family. Places like this are one of a kind and I couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone who wants a getaway in the Catskills. Great food, great beds, great scenery, great ambiance. What else could you want??

Have dined twice; both experiences were absolutely top shelf delicious. My scallops (raw) with pickled blueberries were a taste sensation that was the mark of a chef who most definitely knows what he/she is doing! Other meals at the table were also "special". I almost dropped to 4 stars for the simple reason that one in our party has gluten intolerance and is diabetic. When she asked if she could swap her Einkorn for greens she was told no...unless they just charged her $4 for a side salad. Seriously? In this day and age? This is a person who is dependent on insulin injections and there was absolutely no consideration. In every other way this was a classy experience. If you have a medical dietary restriction I'd say you should consider another restaurant. Otherwise, go here!

We chose the Shandaken Inn for our first meal out in almost 6 months and we couldn't have made a better choice. The setting is positively magical, the food is excellent, and the service is on point, professional yet warm and friendly. The mussels were outstanding, as is the sticky toffee pudding, and one of the best cups of coffee we've ever had anywhere. The attention to detail pays off. Raphael honed his skills at our beloved Peekamoose, and it shows. We can't wait to return.

This place is amazing!!! Hospitality at its finest: cozy, superb food, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic accommodation, swimming pool, tennis court and many, many more. Two and a half hours from the city - perfect tranquility!!! We'll be back soon!

Ate at The Clubhouse at the Shandaken Inn last nite and had a great meal! Fresh crispy Caesar salad, chicken, black bass and wine. Service was good. Sat at a high table in the bar area but the table was woefully small. Odd that there was no bread served (and there were bread plates) and the portions were kinda small. The chicken had no veggie with it (and no sides available to order) and the look of the plates was bare. But overall a lovely and very tasty experience.

I had Sunday brunch there with 3 friends. The food was delicious. Varied menu and we all tried something different. All were presented beautifully and tasted great. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Lovely outdoor setting on their terrace. Not cheap, but worth it.

Such a special place set among a beautiful landscape. I spent a week here and could have stayed forever! The breakfast is perfect- great assortment of fruits, pastries and eggs to choose from, and the staff is wonderful. I felt right at home and can't wait to go back!

We just stayed there and had a great time. The room was great, the bed was fantastic, the food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We are definitely coming back.

One of the best experiences we have had in a long time! We are local and it's hard to find delicious food local. We had a fantastic dinner fantastic service and drinks were on point. Thank you shandaken Inn for being on point! We will definitely be back. By the way the atmosphere is welcoming

Just finished dinner here. Nice outside seating; good job with COVID. 4 out of our six dinners were good. Service was not so good. We asked for a salmon dinner to be served without tomatoes, the server explained it was not possible because it was cooked in the tomatoes. When another person in our party received their salmon order, we could see the salmon was just setting on top of the tomatoes. So was this a server or chef issue. The second issue we had was more serious. The salmon we did get was raw. We had it returned, they heated up the same piece of salmon and it was still not cooked. The server then told us that they cook the salmon just to room temperature - that is raw! They should have advised this when we ordered so we could ask for the salmon to be cooked fully. It was disappointing that after we returned the salmon, the staff did not come to check on us. They did remove the salmon meal from the, but the service experience was poor.

Wow! If you knew the old Shandaken inn, take that memory right out of your head! This is a complete and total overhaul. Great, comfortable bar and a huge beautiful covered outdoor deck. Very upscale! We had brunch which was enjoyable but hey it was just eggs. I want to come back to hang out at this bar! Damn you Covid!

My wife and kids feel like we hit the lottery when we stumbled upon this hidden gem. What an amazing top notch and well though out renovation of a quaint piece of Catskills history. The new owner spared no expense and the interior design as well as individualizations of the rooms was a real treat. The beds were dream makers and the bath rooms were huge. Each room is customized with its own special decor some with high tech fireplaces and all ready for an A & E travel special. It is 10 minutes from Belleayre skiing and 2.5 hours away from NYC. This place is now our most favorite ski/ hiking/ fishing getaway and we're excited to visit with each changing season. Raphael the Inn keeper was kind and helpful at every turn and constantly went above and beyond to ensure the best experience for me my wife and our 4 kids, Tim was not only a great breakfast chef but an all around renaissance man. We have skied and stayed everywhere from Park City to Stowe and felt such an awesome vibe at this perfect Inn that we booked another stay for next month and can't wait to return over and over to the Catskills perfect gem.

The best stay I've ever experienced. The staff was so friendly and personable. Such care was taken in making us feel at home and welcome. The place was perfect, clean, beautifully curated, cozy, romantic, all the best things. The room was gorgeous and luxurious, the bar and restaurant downstairs were perfect and the seats by the fireplace are choice! I honestly have nothing bad to say about the place. Our complimentary breakfast in the morning was made to order, was huge and was absolutely delicious. I can't believe it was free. It was amazing. The fireplace out in the back was lovely, just everything was beyond perfect. We will definitely be returning.
