Pulled in to try it out on my way home. It was relatively empty. The person at the front was assisting someone, so I waited off to the side. The staff person asked if they could help, so I said, "Just table for one." When finished with the other customer, I was just hanging there in front of them without another word.....after a couple of minutes, I decided to ask if I could just seat myself. Communication?
When ordering, I asked about the greens, vinegar or butter and pork flavor. Staffperson defensively advised me that "He got his recipe from Austin,"........ok. still didn't answer my question. After the staff person asked the kitchen staff my question, I decided not to get greens and was explaining that in NE, some places use vinegar, and I miss the buttery pork greens that I used to get when I lived in TX for 15 years, and- they abruptly stopped me with, "I just work here, " before walking away. 😳 fair enough, but some folks just want to know that what they're ordering is something they want. I'm paying, right? So maybe act as though not every question is a challenge. She was nice enough after, but my experience was already a little soured. I got over it.
Brisket was tender with a nice crusty rub. Wished it had a little more flavor. The corn bread hunk was really good. Delicious, hard, crusty outside. I would have loved butter with it. It comes with a spread that seems to be some kind of honey spread(?) The taste was peculiar. Anyway, not a bad place.
