"The dining room with six smartly dressed tables may seem a bit understated when compared to the opulent corridor of private rooms, but the charm and professionalism of the staff will soon put you at ease. From time to time, the head chef adds new items to the menu – fried dumplings stuffed with shrimp and crab meat are dainty packets of umami; wok-fried prawns in black soya sauce win diners’ hearts thanks to exquisite knife work and springy flesh." - Michelin Inspector

"The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi Housed in a 100-meter-tall, concave building in the heart of Xintiandi, the 24-story property has rooms with enduring views over the neighborhood’s Shikumen storefronts. Accommodations combine dark woods, floor-to-ceiling windows, green and gold wool carpets with a paisley-like motif, and dual-basin bathrooms with oversized bathtubs. Shanghai ’s Art Deco period and Xintiandi’s courtyard houses inspire interiors, while color schemes of black and green appear throughout, from the dark local granite used as flooring and walls to green glass detailing. Another recurrent theme is the horse, a key Han symbol, laser-cut into large lobby columns and bronze beams to resemble bark on a tree."

The Langham Shanghai Xintiandi (Shanghai, China) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Compared to the sci-fi skyline of Shanghai’s more hectic districts, Xintiandi is a low-slung village. In a place where restored Shikumen homes and cobbled alleys bump up against boutique shops and hip clubs, the mirrored-glass monolith of The Langham Shanghai Xintiandi might seem a bit ostentatious. You’re free to take this as further proof of the Chinese hospitality industry’s maximalist tendencies — but don’t let it dissuade you from sampling the tasteful interior or the myriad comforts of the Langham’s impeccable service." - Tablet Hotels

From reception to check-in to our arrival in our room, our experience was exceptionally warm and friendly. We had booked an Executive Studio Room. We were traveling with our 14-year-old son and used the hotel for our city tour. The location was perfect for us. There were plenty of things to do on foot and nearby, and the metro station was also nearby. The room was perfect for us. It was spacious and equipped with all the amenities. The room was also very quiet. A large bathroom with a fantastic rainforest shower and bathtub, a large alcove for our suitcases, and plenty of space in the bedroom. We really enjoyed the hotel's amenities, such as the pool area, room service, the Club Lounge and restaurant, and also the in-room dining. A hotel we will definitely return to.

This hotel oozes charm in more aspects than one.|The staff are friendly, warm and genuinely sincere and make staying at the hotel a pleasant experience. Liked the prompt way the room was attended to, made up and turndown service, their size amenities and space as well as the views over the surrounding area. If your looking for a great place to stay in Shanghai this is one great option.

Perfect location right in the heart of Xintiandi. Service was impeccable, especially from housekeeping and the lobby reception staff. We needed to get contact lens solution and the staff even offered to order it in for us, plus gave us the best local food recommendations. And I especially want to thank Lucy and Zoe, who very quickly arranged a quiet room so I could take my Zoom meetings The Langham truly lives up to its brand, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a luxe and comfortable stay in Shanghai

This hotel was the biggest disappointment of my entire China trip. I had high hopes based on the Langham's brand reputation and its premier location. From check-in, I encountered problems - I booked through Amex FHR and was given a room on the 6th floor with no explanation of FHR benefits. I had to tell the agent that I booked through FHR, politely ask if a complimentary upgrade was available (at least to a higher floor), and ask for the agent to review my FHR benefits. The agent was kind enough to upgrade my room to a higher floor (16th floor, albeit no room category upgrade). ||Breakfast had a nice spread, but I found it strange that staff were taking items from the buffet and loading them onto carts for in-room dining orders. Nobody at the property was particularly friendly or hospitable. Some of the younger staff in the lobby area had a stuck-up and unapproachable demeanor. The gym had a strange layout and the equipment seemed dated. The room was worn out and has definitely seen better days (see photos). ||There are so many luxury hotel options to choose from in Shanghai. Skip this one.

Very nice location and great services, overall great short stay there! Ordered some room service after checking in and it came very quickly and well prepared. The breakfast was also very good too, with a lot of varieties and good services as well. Sure will be back soon!

Such a chic and perfectly located spot. Staff was more than eager to help and went above and beyond from brining our laundry that we sent out independently to accepting our items from a carrier service unannounced. The room was gorgeous and good views. Will definitely stay here again.

The hotel’s cleanliness and decor align with its positioning, and the room itself was tidy, though the carpet showed noticeable wear. The bathroom was adequately clean but nothing exceptional. The location is excellent—lively and convenient. However, the lobby and reception area are quite small, leading to a somewhat chaotic atmosphere when crowded. Breakfast is served in a cramped space adjacent to the lobby, and the overall environment is average. Hygiene standards could be improved—utensils had visible food residue, likely due to insufficient dishwasher cleaning. Service was inconsistent; my coffee order was forgotten during peak hours, suggesting a need for better staff training. The gym is very small, with equipment awkwardly split between a dedicated room and a semi-open hallway-like area. A decent stay for the location, but certain aspects (maintenance, breakfast service, and facilities) need attention to enhance guest experience.
