Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

We had a pleasant stay, the hotel has a convenient location for getting around KL, and the staff are superb, albeit a bit slack in responding to emails. Two pre-stay enquiries remain unanswered. In person though, the reception team, concierge etc, were polished and extremely helpful. The hotel has a glitzy lobby, but is showing its age in some areas, around the pool for example. Our Horizon room was spacious and well appointed with great views over the city, but again, ready for a bit of a spruce up. We didn't use any of the facilities due to a packed itinerary, or dine in-house, due to pre-booked restaurants elsewhere. Breakfast in the Horizon lounge was good. We also tried breakfast in the main restaurant 'Lemon Tree', which was a fascinating and varied global buffet spread, but something of a bun fight, with about as much ambience as a works canteen. |Overall though, the hotel does a good job for the money.

I stayed here for two nights in February 2026 and really liked it. It was about MYR1318 (€287) for two nights. The location is pretty good and close to a lot of the main sights although walking in KL sometimes isn't the best. Grabs are a good option though. There isn't really a "view" of the towers or impressive rooftop bar like other hotels but it is close to nice rooftop bars. I really liked the decor. Sort of Asian and Western classy fusion. The room was nice and modern and comfortable. There is a lovely gym area which is pretty quite and a separate male/female sauna area. This is really nice although I would like a few more seats here for relaxing and it's a bit annoying this area isn't connected to the pool. The outside pool area is nice and has a view of the KL tower (from the ground) albeit the pool is more for bathing. The lifeguard was nice! I didn't try the food so can't comment. The reception staff were all nice and helpful although there can be long queues there at times. All in all, very enjoyable and comfortable.

Jan26-went for a wedding reception. Sumptuous surroundings. Wonderful decor. Good location. Staff were friendly and professional, the doorman was delightful even if the staff inside did not immediately point us to the wedding reception and other guests arrived with us. Events team were a little haphazard on identifying guests to their checklist and don't know the hotel facilities. Wine and soft drinks ran out at the welcome drinks with only whiskey or beer available, and they didn't understand diet drinks and we were invited to pay for further soft (diet) drinks by both the wait staff and a manager who came to our table...which was very odd; only after a chat with our hosts, wait staff were told no payment necessary! Bought glass of wine from the bar, price comparable to UK/London prices. Our 'VIP table' male wait staff was less than 5*, incapable of telling us what was what when he placed the food down, which was unhelpful as we had vegans on our table. The female wait staff was more helpful, 4+. Great decor, memorable space, inconsistent staff, overall not bad. We cannot comment on the rooms. Food was delicious. Audio and PA was good as was enormous space.

Christina at reception was amazing and super kind upon greeting us. She even picked up on my wife’s bday and made us feel very welcome. Next day at breakfast one of the chefs Radzi was also super nice and wanted me to experience traditional breakfast nasi lemak going out of his way to make it at buffet for me If management sees this make sure to give them a raise or props!

The hotel is very clean, well-maintained, and perfectly located with easy access to key areas of the city. Amenities are good and comfortable, especially for a family stay. While most staff were polite and helpful, the service experience was average at times and could be more attentive for a hotel of this standard.Overall, a pleasant and relaxing stay with strong facilities and location.

Another wonderful stay at the KL Shangrila hotel! Ten of us reserved five rooms, all of which had access to the Horizon Club lounge. We really enjoyed our three night holiday in KL, and the Shangrila was the perfect luxury hotel for our stay. The rooms were spacious - 80 meters - and very comfortable. And the hotel was able to locate us all on the same floor, which was very nice. The highlight of our stay was definitely the Horizon Club Lounge. Each day we enjoyed a beautiful bfast and afternoon tea at the lounge, and the service was impeccable. For anyone using KL I highly recommend the Shangrila and the Horizon Club Lounge

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. I booked a pool view room, and the view was stunning calming, premium, and exactly the kind of atmosphere you expect from a high end getaway. The service here reflects true luxury hospitality. The staff were highly attentive, proactive, and delivered every request with professionalism and elegance. The entire experience felt seamless, personalised, and refined. I also had the pleasure of dining at the Lemon Garden buffet absolutely delicious. The highlight was the lobster, cooked to perfection and incredibly fresh. The flavours were rich, well balanced, and truly memorable. The seafood selection alone places this buffet among the best I’ve ever tried. The overall ambience, room quality, cleanliness, and facilities all met top tier standards. A perfect blend of comfort, sophistication, and indulgence. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious escape with excellent dining to match. I will definitely return.

Third hotel of the Shangri-La chain that I’ve stayed at. Nothing to complain about — by now it’s a safe choice you can book with your eyes closed. Rooms are extremely comfortable and fully equipped with every amenity. Customer care is at the highest level, with impeccable service in every area. Excellent breakfast with a very wide selection. Great location, convenient for walking everywhere without any issues. Highly recommended.
