My family has been to Shankz (this location & different locations) before. We even had both of my daughter's birthday parties here a couple of years ago. Like the idea, indoors is a must in the summer of Texas heat and it was a great place for the mother-daughter date that I had with my 6 year old.
So we went on a Wednesday night at 4:30 and as we're going through the holes I'm hearing some of the lyrics to the songs being played. I did not write down the lyrics verbatim as I was trying to not draw attention to what I was doing on the tiny space left on our scorecard. Some of the lyrics included were about getting a girl in her birthday suit, girl I wanna turn you on, and talking about dirty little secrets. Those are just the 3 songs that I heard/noticed.
Now, I understand that you're never going to please everyone. Some people will complain about pretty much anything. However, considering that again, this was at 4:30 on a Wednesday (not even 8:00 or 9:00 pm or even later) I was not happy with the music choices that were playing and found them inappropriate for "family fun" which is what this place is supposed to be. Again, if it was later in the evening and therefore atypical for someone to be bringing their young children then I wouldn't be upset about this. But the last thing I need is for my 6 yo to be asking me "what's a birthday suit" or "what does 'turn you on' mean?". Yes, there is an age, a time and place for these questions but 6 years old at 4:30 on a Wednesday and at Shankz is not the time or place.
There are plenty, in fact tons, of musical choices that are just as upbeat and fun without the sexual nature of these song choices. Honestly, that is my only complaint.
