Google
Cool corner bar with TVs and fun people. Met locals and Bobby, the owner. Cool, funny, welcoming guy. The hamburgers were outstanding. It is amazing how good the food was considering the very small kitchen/prep area. Hot dog was good too. Nice bartender. Nice Chef. You should go! $14 uber ride from Boston tourist area.

Google
Easily one of the best burger places in Boston. You can tell they care about the quality of the food and ingredients, using freshly ground beef cooked to perfection. Good prices as well, highly recommend

Google
The food here is top-notch, the man on the grill is always getting the best ingredients and keeping the menu interesting. You can taste the difference, and it really hits the spot after a couple drinks. 10/10 come here thirsty and hungry!

Sarah Shovelton

Google

Yelp
Stopped here visiting from out of town. Guy helping us was super super nice. I think he was the owner. We were the first ones there (rainy Monday), he turned on all the game machines for us, put on some music, set us up with darts for the dartboard, unlocked the pool table. When he had to step out he asked someone else to make sure we had everything we needed. He had a sweet friendly dog who was lovely. I had a great time.

Yelp
Loved this bar! Loved meeting Cardinal The crew here made 2 midwesterners feel really at home! But, please put chips back on the wall!

Yelp
The tap selection is perfect, something for everyone, even the IPA drinkers (please don't order an IPA) but Jerry made the visit a 5 star stop. Skip all the Irish bars on your travel blogs and have a few pints/shots with the amazing locals at Shannon Tavern.

Yelp
Went in 9/18/21 ready to spend a bunch of money and have a little food and drink. The dive bar feel was decent (it won't fit more than 30 people comfortably) and the music was good (classic 80's sing a long tunes). When I asked the bartender if he had Sam Adam's on draft he wasn't sure and had to look to see what 5 beers were on tap. That was when I realized everyone in the bar had a bud light aluminum bottle and the bartender rudely came back to report he had some Ocktoberfest stuff because it was that time of year. He was the only one working and clearly didn't want to serve us so we went down the street to Sixth Gear and we're served instantly, with a smile. Much better atmosphere. Don't waste your time at Shannon Tavern.

Yelp
Great little spot, with great people!!! The last of the originals!! I believe it was in the movie " Gone Baby Gone" or "Mystic River". Two of my favorite movies. Definitely a hidden gen

Yelp
I spend thanksgiving and Christmas here every year. I like to watch the punching game in the back. The bathroom stalls are tiny

Yelp
Good spot if you wanna grab a few with some friends. Quiet atmosphere unless you ask the bartender to turn up the music. A few coin op games, table hockey and a pool table. This hidden gem has good drinks at a good price. Would definitely come here again. The staff and the patrons are friendly.

Yelp
I'd violate TOS if I posted the pictures I took here. This is as much a tesiment to my group as it is to The Shannon. LOVE the bathoom "stall" that is just a curtain. This place is not trying to be a dive, but it succeeds. That's how the best dives roll.

Yelp
Anywhere that I can bring my guitar over, sing with the owner, and drink on the cheap is okay in my book. Strange hours, colorful clientele, friendly bartenders, interesting goings-on, an internet jukebox (sweet!), a pool table, and last, but never least, BUBBLE HOCKEY? You pretty much can't go wrong here, if you're a fan of the local bars and hole-in-the-walls.

Yelp
Solid joint. Nice game room with pool table, darts, a few arcade games and of course bubble hockey. Mostly an older crowd but plenty of late 20somethings hit it up too. Friendly bartenders. Pitchers of Coors light for $6 in Boston? Only at The Shannon!

Yelp
Best spot in town. Everything you want in a bar. No frills, cheap drinks, personable owner. A place where everyone knows your name...after 1 visit.

Yelp
I'll place a bet with anyone who sees this..try to stay for one. JUST one. It's one of the facts of life.. have one and you won't leave til you're kicked out. Best bartenders in town...nicest patrons in town. Take my bet and shake on it.

Yelp
Great little dive bar. Kim from Ireland was our bartender. Nice and quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. The only drawback is NO mixed drink in a beer pint glass. Other than that, Kim is on her way to becoming a great transplanted Irish American. Highly recommended visit.

Yelp
This is the place where I could drink with my dad. If you want something else, don't come here.

Yelp
Went here on the day of the St. Patrick's Day parade. Paid a cover to get in and could barely move, since they were so over the legal limit of people. After 20 minutes there the owner was going wild on everyone since he suspected that someone stole a bottle of booze. He kicked everyone out whether they had just bought a drink or not and would not let people take their drink with them. It's his own fault for being way under staffed for the amount of people he let into his bar. I will never go back here, because of this situation and because it's a crappy little outdated bar that should be closed.

Yelp
We met the owner at Playwright on our Yelp Red Scare Southie Crawl and he personally walked us over to Shannon's. I've lived in Southie for years but when I moved to the Fort Point side I started driving by this place every day. I really wanted to head in and try it out as I was auditioning for a new "local" since moving too far to stumble home from Whitey's. Somehow, I just never got around to checking it out. When I met the owner and he offered to show us over, I was psyched to follow him there. Sure the place is little and the bathroom curtain acting as door is a bit questionable... but this place is great. It's everything I am looking for in a local. Friendly people, a great jukebox, bar games and cheap drinks. Apparently they have food, though we didnt try it out. I havent been back since the crawl but it is on July's Bucket List. If my next experience is anything like my last... this place will be bumped to the top of the local list. Thanks Shannons! Next year you are a definite stop on our Red Scare 2011 Crawl!

Yelp
On the day of the St. Patrick's Day parade, I went there with a few friends. The bar was packed and extremely understaffed. However, after paying the $5 cover we went in and waited almost 30 minutes for a drink. Then we went to the dingy back area of the bar for some breathing room and about 15 minutes later the owner comes through the back hysterical and yelling about kicking everyone our because someone stole a bottle of Southern Comfort. Sure enough a few minutes later he yelled at everyone in the back and told us to get the @$&! out of there. What a waste of money!! We'll never go back!

Yelp
Shannon is the best place to get a drink on a dime in Southie: great place for yuppies and locals to really get to know each other and feel at home. Lotsa great bartenders especially Bobby and Jerry. Always know how to make you feel like you're at home. Family owned placed with a lot of love to go around

Yelp
A true Southie neighborhood BAH. My freind lives a stones throw away. Since she/we were new to the area, we strolled in one friday night around midnite......felt comfortable, welcomed and met EVERYONE left at the bar. Jerry the bartenda is great.

Yelp
Shannon's is by far my favorite bar to game at. The boxing game, pacman, pool AND the jukebox have me sold. My friends and I go during the day to chug some beers and game. It's fun to hang out with the locals and really soak up the southie lifestyle. The bartenders are chill and accommodating. Fun place!

Yelp
Great local dive! Love the Shannon family and environment. Also, great place to stop before and/or after your flight.... close to the airport;) I would like to respond to a previous negative review. I was there that St. Paddy's Day and someone did steal a bottle of alcohol. I was the one who caught the woman that stole it. Once the owner resolved the situation, everybody was allowed back in.
