Shantaa Resort Koh Kood

We spent a month in Thailand with several stops, and this was our favourite. The entire island, and this resort in particular are literally a paradise, we loved it so much! Our room was very spacious and clean, service was excellent, and the views and atmosphere are stunning. As a general advice, no matter which resort you stay in, rent a motorbike (all resorts will do that for a reasonable price) and use it to explore the island. It's so much fun!

It's a beautiful hotel with amazing grounds and landscaping. The villas are lovely and spacious, well decorated and modern, I loved the views from them. The downside for me was the location. Koh Kood is all about the beach, but the beach was really lacking here. There is one small section of beach by the pool, next to the cafe (which is great for sunset) but its tiny with just a few sun beds. On the other side of the resort is another small beach area that overlooks an ugly concrete pier with ferries boats coming and going and vehicles driving up it which isn't very idyllic. You're better off walking down to Ao Tapao Beach, but you have to get past all the resorts (which feels a bit like Benidrom), until you get to what seems like the end of the beach. But carry on and it opens up into a gorgeous stretch of pristine beach. This is around 10 minutes walk from the hotel itself. The staff are nice enough but it definitely wasn't 5* service, that could be because Koh Kood is more undeveloped and very laid back as I found this with most resorts on the island.

If there were 10 stars, I would give it to The Shaanta Resort. With gorgeous villas all with a sea view and large lovely acreage right on the water, this resort is a huge step above! * Two warm pools one for little kids w/pool toys * Fantastic open air restaurant, breakfast included, with delicious meals * An amazing staff at your service * On the beach with sunset views every night * Lots of acreage to wander around but not that many villas so no swarms of people * Good snorkeling access right at the pier steps away from the beach All in all, a fantastic stay… highly recommended

Shantaa is paradise on earth. Truly a hidden gem tucked away in most beautiful nature. Very authentic, serene and spacious place. We stayed in Shantaa Extra Sweet Villa and everything was perfect. Food was amazing and Shantaa Team gets 5 stars for their attentiveness and service. Loads of smiles and friendliness. Thank you for making our stay so perfect.

Premium experience. Beautiful and comfortable rooms. Great staff. Lots of different areas to relax - 2 beaches, pool, café. SUP, kayaks and snorkeling equipment for free and towels and bottled water available for guests at the beach and pool. Great massage treatment.

The resort - like the rest of the island - is infested by sandflies. Difficult to avoid the bites (very itchy and persistent pimples). Terrible experience for people prone to allergies. Otherwise, lovely bungalows, good restaurant and beautiful garden. The beauty of the beach is ruined by a huge concrete jetty. Snorkeling is so-so, some fishes but the corals are all dead. The staff is helpful but not very friendly. The breakfast is average, with the usual, eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, pancakes... boring.

This would be one of the best resorts I have stayed in, fantastic value for money, best staff, food that was amazing. If you want to get away from the crowds and really relax this resort is the place to go. The island is laidback and not overly busy, no jetskis, noisy advertising. The rooms are fantastic. I'd go back here tomorrow.

I had the privilege to stay at this magnificent resort. Friends gifted me the stay, as they really wanted me to experience what they have multiple times in the past. You cannot find a fault in any way possible. Immaculate gardens, beautiful helpful gentle staff, amazing hands on professional management, incredible villas/rooms, generous well maintained facilities (pool is sensational). But let's not forget the food. Quite frankly the most delicious and authentic Thai I have had in 20 years. Just superb.
