The owner is just the sweetest lady ever. She’s very good with children. The food is amazingly good and worth every penny. Portions are large, made fresh. Bread is made fresh in house. Out of all of the places I’ve eaten on the coast, this is hands down the best. Service was fast too. We were in and out in less than an hour.

Google
If you come to the area, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE! We came here for my birthday, and wow, was it something special. I come from Maryland, but I have lived in Oregon for 10 years now and have never come across seafood as tasty as this place has served up. The hostess (i believe her name was Karen) is so welcoming and made it feel like I had come hone to my mother's cooking. Thank you, Sharks, for making my birthday dinner something special.

Google
Just love their Cioppino, and I don’t tend to like this dish due to all the shells, but this version has all the shells removed, is loaded with meat and covered in a delicious, sweet sauce. The owner is also wonderful and a joy to chat with. Always a great night out.

We live here locally and Sharks is our go to for a fresh and delicious seafood meal. We have been coming to Corky and Karen’s Sharks Restaurant since they first opened on the Bayfront. They are a family owned and run restaurant. Their first location was nice and cozy but the new location is very roomy, bright and nice that it is off that congested street. Between my husband and I, we have tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. We have LOTS of out of town guests and Sharks is the first place they want to go. Several of our friends from San Francisco that enjoy dining at the finer seafood restaurants there, say that Sharks is without a doubt one of the best. If you know what good fresh seafood is, Sharks won’t disappoint! I almost hate giving them such a great review because it will make it harder for us to get in, but they deserve it!

This was amazing. Karin was so friendly and knew every detail of the menu. The food was fresh, delicious, healthy and plentiful. We will be back!!

Google
We've always eaten at Shark's on every trip to Newport and waited impatiently for them to reopen after moving out of their Bayfront location. The food is just as fantastic as it was when they were on the Bayfront. The portions are huge, the service is wonderful and the new location is very nice. Our last couple of visits, we've gotten carry out and eaten it while looking at the ocean. Our favorite dishes are the Combo Pan Roast, the Cioppino Pasta and the Garlic Linguini. Karin and Corky are always so friendly.

Google
Food was sooooo good, we came back two nights later! Pictured is the New York pan roast and marinara superbowl. Absolutely the best shellfish and fresh fish we had driving down the coast. Walking in is like a time warp to the 60s, and these folks know good seafood!!

Google
Everyone in our party of four liked their meal and cocktails. The place is extremely small. Four tables that fit four and three more that fit two, but we went on an off night, Wednesday night, and did not have a wait. Never felt rushed. Delicious, perfectly made, and generously poured cocktails. One thing I greatly appreciated is that when our fabulous waitress, Karen, told us about the specials she also told us the price of the specials. Most specials were about $43-$46 but the menu items have wonderful choices for around $25-$30 each. They were also extremely accommodating for my very challenging dietary restriction of "no garlic". Very generous portions of seafood. Definitely would come back again, and highly recommend the restaurant. Although, pricey, fresh seafood is pricey.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Must visit if anywhere close to Newport. Best cippiano on the planet.

Yelp
Great food. Excellent Service. Ya gotta try this one! Excellent clams and oyster. Fresh.

Wendy K.

Yelp
We came here on Valentine's Day and were delighted with the energy and warmth of the serving staff. They all took turns making sure sure we had our needs taken care of. We shared the Bouillabaisse meal which had 3 pounds of carefully prepared seafood, and a buttery wine, fish broth. Everything was so fresh. Fair warning: they use special steamers in the kitchen area, which lends the restaurant a fishy odor. But don't let that scare you away because the food is excellent.

Yelp
5 star food and service. We were so excited to find a restaurant with fresh local non fried seafood! My husband got the snapper special and it was prepared to perfection. The owners are so personable and wanted to ensure everything was ok. We highly recommend. The best dinner so far that we have had in the area.

Yelp
If you have never been to this place definitely make it a stop next trip to Newport. Totally hidden gem. We were the only people at dinner but the food was amazing and the staff friendly. We had Sharks Ciopinni with Pasta. Tons of fresh seafood and sauce was delish.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, food is excellent! Oyster shooters and oysters half shells are a must! Had snapper dinner comes with salad and fruit...great side dishes to the snapper!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious Dungeness crab pan roast! The owners are warm and welcoming. Wish they weren't so far away.

Yelp
What a gem to find while traveling through Newport. We saw all the ratings and reviews and decided to see what the fuss what all about! Well, the fuss is legit! You won't find fried seafood here and thank god!!! Everything is super fresh and delicious! We had the special Scallop dish that's not always available, as well as the Shark's Cioppino & pasta. Hands down, 5 stars for both! If you're looking for an extravagant wine selection, bring your own bottle and pay the corkage fee, however they do have a full bar and she serves a great dirty martini. Overall this restaurant brings great childhood memories of days long gone at seafood joints along the coast, and excellent, catered to service. We highly recommend and will definitely be back! Thank you for the excellent food and hospitality!!

Yelp
Man oh man is this good seafood or what! And I say that as a Boston boy who grew up in a city that has some very good seafood restaurants. One, in particular, is a place that Paul Revere regularly ate at. And then there is Boothbay Harbor, Maine which has some of the best seafood on the planet. Want a lobstah [sic]? They'll haul a trap right next to you out of the water and cook it up for you. So I've been stopping at Sharks for years. Seems to me they are in a different location now but that could just be the fog of old age. I don't recall the place being so tiny. On a weekday during the dead of Winter you're probably fine but on a Summer weekend finding a seat could be problematic. They have a number of chowder bowls, gumbos and stews that are very pricey but offer huge portions packed with seafood. I'm getting hungry just typing this! Sharks is right up there on a par with many of the best seafood places I've ever been to. Nothing fancy here.... it's all about the food but be sure to hit the ATM before you head over. They are right off 101 just past the Yaquina lighthouse (coming from the north). Newport is a nice little town with very nice locals. Well, not so little anymore and the traffic on the main drag can be a pain. Yeah, I know, it's "tourists" like me who are causing this problem. I do know my way around and there are plenty of back roads to avoid the traffic jams but even still... it's sort of like Cannon Beach except that at CB the locals have hated the tourists for many decades.... even though a lot of the locals are actually not native to CB. Not so in Newport. A great many residents there go back generations. With a long seafaring tradition. Being a Navy guy I suppose it's just a town where I feel very comfortable. Regular, hard working, unpretentious folks. I digress. If you like really good seafood you owe it to yourself to check this place out but please do it sometime when I am not in town. There are way fancier places along the Oregon coast but few can match the fare at this place. And that includes several very good seafood venues that are also in Newport. I get my "Newport seafood fix" a couple of times a year. There are a half dozen really amazing eateries in this burb. Sharks is definitely one of them. You're welcome and please hit the "helpful" button after you've taken my advice and stopped in. I have a well vetted seafood collection if you're interested.

Yelp
Everything was goooood!!!!! Food was all fresh flavorful and served so timely. The service is so warm and the friendliest attentive in the area. They take pride in their food and establishment in general. It's got the local hole in the wall vibe but the cuisine to compete with the high ends. They have limited tables, I think I only counted like 5 to be exact so just a heads up not sure how busy they may get at times. Also, take note of the cool cooking kitchen area they have, definitely have to see it to appreciate it, you won't see pics here as there is no photography, keeping it kind of like so to say speak easy seafood spot.

Yelp
So glad we found this place. On a Saturday night when reservations for many of the trendy spots were full, we were looking for fresh seafood, but didn't want to fight the crowds near the port. We also didn't want a bunch of greasy food. Then we took a flyer on this place based on reviews. After eating the great, fresh steamed seafood here, they should have had way more business than they did the night we were there. Nothing is fried. The fresh seafood and fish are steamed and speak for themselves. My wife got the dungenous crab (already shelled) and I got the delicious cioppino (again, already shelled.) They also have vegan options for those that don't want seafood. We want to go back next time in town and try some more of the menu. It's a small place with a bar and doesn't look like much from the outside. It's located near the turnoff to go to the Yaquina Lighthouse. Their website said they were closed, but it was an old notice. If you want good, fresh seafood, you need to make this a stop.

Yelp
This little place on the 101 is a true hidden gem. The food was delicious and satisfying and the service was warm, welcoming and prompt. We had oysters on the half shell, cioppino and oyster steamers.

Cheri S.

Yelp
Holy smokes, this place is fabulous! Everything is steamed and beyond delicious. And the hospitality was so warm and welcoming. We got the crab dinner and the crab pan roast (which was more of a delicious crab bisque with huge chunks of crab). So unique and fun. You won't regret it!

Doug E.

Yelp
SHARK'S IS BACK!! My favorite restaurant in Oregon. My restaurant pick every time I go to Newport.
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
Food is fabulous and portion size is generous. We've included them every time we are in the area (multiple times!) and have even taken a long drive just to order the cioppino! Yum!!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Cozy, inviting little place across from Agate Beach. The hostess was extremely nice and helpful. We did carry out twice during our stay. Everything was packaged very nicely. Piping hot. Italian bread and butter thrown in. Ordered the seafood gumbo both times. Not New Orleans style with a thick dark roux. This is more brothy. Everything was cooked perfectly. Very generous amount of seafood. Can't wait to go back.

Travis D.

Yelp
Amazing as usual! Service is always top notch! It is always a must stop every year. Seafood is fresh and every dish is wonderful
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and GREAT SERVICE!!! I had the Dungeness Crab..... excellent choice.... the steamed oyster appetizer...... it was so delicious.... and the Shark's Cioppino..... was excellent.. it was spicy... but very good.

Marc K.

Yelp
I've been going to Sharks for decades. I love the place and the people, but it's the food that keeps us coming back. Really, the cioppino. Everything on the menu is outstanding, but I always order a big bowl of seafood heaven. IT's probably my favorite restaurant on the planet, if not beyond!
google avatar

Geoff B.

Yelp
We've traveled the world only to discover Shark's is the friendliest, freshest & most eloquent expression of the flavors of the sea and most notably our local Oregon coast. This salty coastal vibe that will leave you dreaming of Cioppino & Dungeness crab cocktails that outperform any Michelin star restaurants we've experienced. Our family has been coming here since before I have memory, after four years they've reopened & everything that made this staple of my childhood excellent has remained.

Christina F.

Yelp
What a find - small seafood restaurant that only does seafood nothing fried here. The host was a delight and treated us like family. The restaurant only has a few tables - Suggest you go early.
google avatar

Alan N.

Yelp
We enjoyed this place, but it was hard to get a seat. There fish dishes are definitely fresh and tasty. I had the fish soup, yummy. Having said that it was not a relaxing place...people were running around like madmen...perhaps this time on the coast that is to be expected.
google avatar

Yoonmee C.

Yelp
First of all the hostess was so nice and friendly greeting us and explaining the menu and the specials! We ordered chioppino for me and the prawn scallops in garlic sauce special. They were both so delicious with generous amount of seafood that was perfectly cooked!! We were so stuffed at the end. We'll definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

Yelp
I love their ciapiano. First time in after they reopened the owner Karin remembered my name and what I always ordered. Great new place and excellent food.

Aseret M.

Yelp
I don't remember what my boyfriend ordered but I got the garlic linguini with shrimp and it was delicious. Service is amazing, it's family owned and such a good ambiance to eat in. Decorations are subtle and dainty and the waitress has such a beautiful personality.
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
We had a fantastic dinner. Combo pan roast was amazing and full of seafood and the fish entree was prepared to perfection. This review would not be complete without mentioning our hostess Carin aka Irene...she was so welcoming and fun (surely a pirate in a former life)!
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Watched our food being made. The Shark's Cioppino was delicious. Really fresh seafood.
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent. The Dungeness crab was absolutely delicious. The clams were as fresh as can be and cooked wonderfully. Loved the steamers cooking setup. Never had that before.

Dallas B.

Yelp
Most amazing service and food. Such a joy dinning here. Felt so warm and welcoming and the food was so flavorful and amazing portions. The server was the sweetest soul and so helpful and informative. 10 out of 10

Wendy ..

Yelp
This is by far the best seafood meal I've had in the U.S....honestly! My husband and I shared the Cioppino and it was to die for, with a broth that had a lot of depth and kick to it and chock full of a great selection of seafood. I'm a sucker for Dungeness crab and get it every time I can. So I also ordered the crab which was simple yet amazing. The crab was served already out of the shell (6 oz, I think) and I chose the drawn butter with lemon on the side. Yummy! My husband had the scallops, which he said were great. Apparently this place had a tough time through the pandemic, plus lost its lease and had to relocate. I encourage you to run, not walk, to this restaurant and give them all the love and business you can. It's an absolute gem!

R S.

Yelp
Been coming here since they werqe on the bayfront. Really outstanding perfectly cooked seafood. Tonight I was dismayed at seeing that I was the only customer at 8:00. I've eaten here about five times over the past 15 àQp years and I've never been disappointed I would highly recommend their cioppino or theirc linguine you locals need to patronize this place so that it stays healthy!p
google avatar

Gayle P.

Yelp
Sad closed they were moving to another place back end of last year? Missed it because this weekend was to be my birthday dinner of spaghetti.

Holg J.

Yelp
I've read all the rave reviews and cannot for the life of me figure out where these people usually eat. Sharks was way overpriced unless you like 8 scallops at $6 apiece swimming in a butter-wine soup whose principal flavor was bland. My wife needed a microscope to find what were obviously tiny canned shrimp in her shrimp salad. Definitely not worth the $100-plus tab.
google avatar

April S.

Yelp
Awesome wait staff- Food was fresh and fast! We started with steamer clams and seafood cocktail... I had the Dungeness crab- my husband had the Sharks Ciopinno- (I also ate half of that )- my son had the marinara linguini- all very very good! Oh- and did I mention- I don't like seafood? I highly recommend!!
google avatar

Carroll S.

Yelp
Hehe....I didn't want to give them 5 Stars because I want a table there whenever I want- but I guess there is always the bar. Plenty of choices but not overwhelming. I liked the comment I read about there not being any fryers! It is so nice to have fresh steamed seafood, instead of being covered up and fried. Seafood Cobb was amazing. It would be a crime to not have it with the Blue Cheese dressing. Couldn't finish it and have leftovers! NY Pan Roast combo was soooo flavorful! Float some oyster crackers and you are stuffed!!! Came back for the Cioppino it was amazing the Super Cioppino bowl yummm Come and eat at this location on the historic bay front soon! This location will close end of October 2019. A cheese factory is wiping out this wonderful historic building. Sharks will hopefully will be reopening in the Agate beach area!

Mark H.

Yelp
While on vacation in the area, we stopped in for dinner and were so pleased with this restaurant. My wife had the cioppino, which she loved--it was so full of seafood and had a very nice broth. All of the seafood had been unshelled and shucked. No shells, no waste! I had the snapper which was also cooked to perfection. The server/owner was so accommodating and friendly towards us. She recommended places to see and things to do during our stay. Highly recommended!!

Michael D S.

Yelp
First time back here since the move from the Bay front location. We were so happy to come have the Cioppino again! Their twist on seafood is always a win. Great atmosphere, great service. This was our favorite dinner spot in Newport for years and will hopefully continue in the new spot.

Gayle R.

Yelp
Best food for my daughter seafood soup. and spaghetti sauce for me. Love the new building but get there early for a seat. Make great mixed drinks. Great Staff Thanks So Much see you Thursday I hope.

Bailey L.

Yelp
Traveled over 3,000 miles for the cioppino and let me tell you, I would do it again in a heartbeat!! My family and I had Shark's almost 10 years ago at their original location and haven't stopped thinking about it since. The food was phenomenal and the service and staff was just as superb! Everyone was so friendly and we felt right at home. Our waitress was so considerate as she even brought out vegan friendly items for some members of our table to enjoy along with us! So kind and thoughtful!! I've had cioppino all across the country and nothing has topped shark's, especially with the linguini! If I lived closer, I would definitely stop in at least once a week, it's that good! Make sure and check them out, you won't be sorry!!

Candis G.

Yelp
The best. discovered when they were down at the bay. very old and rough inside, 1st thought was to leave SOOOO glad didn't. The BEST CIOPPINO I had anywhere and I've had it all over the country. Waited and waited for them to open in their new spot. Don't live in Newport so had to get my fill when recently there. 3 times in 2 weeks. Couple that own terrific. Woman partner does all the service. She is personable, fun, funny and knows all about the seafood. Wonderful place. You won't be disappointed. Support this small business, cant wait until I'm there next summer.

Nathan W.

Yelp
Not just one of the best restaurants on the coast, one of the best meals you'll have in the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy perfectly steamed seafood (a process that brings out the flavor while maintaining the delicate texture of the sea proteins) in balanced, unpretentious settings. The cioppino is deservedly celebrated but don't stop there. The front of the house is led by the charming co-owner who goes above and beyond to make sure everyone's having a lovely time. If you're anywhere near Newport, don't miss it.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Our hearts and stomachs are full ! What a gem this place is and so glad it has reopened. The food is always amazing with generous portions of seafood .

Laurie B.

Yelp
Pricey but fabulous, just do it. The gumbo was amazing especially since this isn't the south coast
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Well known local joint. Very limited seating with four tables and 9 seats at the bar. Portions Are huge and even the bowl sized are plenty to take home. Fresh seafood, and not the tourist variety Ordered the Sharks' Cioppino, the signature seafood stew is steamed to perfection in their famous red sauce. Loaded with Dungeness crab, pink shrimp, tiger prawns & fresh fish. Bowl $15.95/ Super Bowl $22.95. Ciopppino was outstanding! Shared the bowl and we were both filled. Served with choice of sourdough or French bread. Well worth the trip!

Barb K.

Yelp
My favorite place on the Oregon Coast. We loved the previous restaurant in historic Newport, and have been waiting for this new one to open. I'm happy to say I love it just as much. So warm and welcoming. I love the demonstration kitchen. But the food itself is the highlight. I am allergic to bivalves/mollusks. They were able to make the most amazing cioppino for me by leaving out the clam nectar. I already can't wait to go back.

Wayne K.

Yelp
So glad that Sharks is back after missing them the last few years. Sharks was always our favorite seafood restaurant in Newport and the food is still the very best! In their new location you can see the preparation of your fresh seafood, adding to the experience. You can't go wrong with their Cioppino or the Cioppino Pasta!
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
Shark's Cioppino is at the top of the list and one of the favorites of this long standing establishment. The atmosphere is cozy in this small treasure right next to the water. Pick an intimate table to 3 or 4 or sit at the bar at chat up all the other restaurant goers. Either way the food is worth it!

Ralph C.

Yelp
Food is amazing but the service sucks. God my bread and butter and no butter knife, got my curry with no spoon or napkins, won't allow you to tip the cook. And not the only one that got the kind of service tonight.
