This is my second visit and my experience has been great each time. The staff was very friendly. The chef was very generous. I couldn’t make up my mind on what to order so he gave me a little bit of everything to try. I really enjoyed Shawarma Pita (chicken and beef combo). It’s very tasty and the portion was huge. I was so full after half of a pita. I’ll definitely come back again.

Shawarma Home Review – A Vacation Highlight! Our family stopped by Shawarma Home while on vacation, and it ended up being one of the best meals of our trip! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and treated with genuine kindness. The staff made us feel right at home, which meant a lot while traveling. The food was absolutely exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the portions were generous too. We’re so glad we found this place and will definitely be back the next time we’re in town. Shawarma Home is a true gem!

This Middle Eastern restaurant is newly opened in Ocean Beach. It's not very big, but it's very clean and tidy inside. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. I ordered the beef shawarma pita. The pita bread is very thin, just like a pancake. It's really delicious. I highly recommend it!

We can’t say enough about this new restaurant on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach! It’s family run and you feel like you’re at their home for a family meal!! The price point is perfect and the quality of the food is outstanding!! We tried so much because everything looked and smelled so incredible! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this PHENOMENAL new addition to the Ocean Beach community ❤️❤️❤️

Google
Great customer service! The place is a family owned business and you can tell the food quality and service has a personal touch with fast service! I didn't crave shawarma before but now I am a fan! And can't wait to visit again! The place is also clean and plenty of seating. Location is right next to the Target! If you dont get lucky with the parking on the street, park at Target really quick and pick up the food!

I had Gyros before, but this was my first time trying Shawarma. First off the service was great and the food was great!! Had combo fries 🍟 had (Chicken Shawarma, Beef Shawarma with Gryo meat!! The portions were big as well. The cashier took his time explaining the food to us since it was our first time and what he recommended was delicious!!

Pretty nice and casual spot at Ocean Beach, the inside is small but clean. The kitchen is open and you can see the big shawarma on the grill. The staff is very friendly. I ordered beef shawarma and the plate is huge with hummus and spicy sauce. The beef tastes flavorful and there’s also a lot of veggies inside the wrap. The shawarma tastes yummy! I really love the bread wrap they use, great to dip in the hummus. I think it’s a nice spot to grab a casual lunch at ocean beach.

Google
Absolutely wonderful! The food is phenomenal and service top-tier. My coworker got the family combo for my birthday and it was not only delicious but fed more than 8 people. I believe the business is family own and it shows. Out little OB community loves places like this. They add their own person touch with great taste. If you have food restriction, just call the facility. They are more than happy to assist. Great at communicating and fast service. 😊

Yelp
Both of their shawarmas and plates are wonderful, the sauce are good, the veg are fresh and the meat are delicious. They have really REALLY good service, they really take care of our food and they always ask if we need anything extra and how we feel. Their staff are really nice and the environment is clean, it is a really chill and friendly place for lunch and dinner. IT IS REALLY GOOD, like PHENOMENAL!!!

Yelp
I initially came here for a yelp event and I've been hooked ever since. Parking may be scarce, but you can park at the end of the street and take a stroll down. The restaurant itself looks like it's a mom and Pop family ran business. The portions were pretty big. The young man that took our order was very attentive. He actually came out a couple times to the table and checked up on us. Everything was just so flavorful! They wasn't greedy with the sauce or the seasoning. Definitely a must try if you are in the area!

Yelp
I'm angry how good this place is!!! I was blown away how good the food was. The beef swarma pita was crazy good juicy tender and full of flavor. The egg rolls here were next level!!! I been craving this place for a while now but I live to far to come out here. The service was fast and Mais was so sweet and kind. The ambiance is chill nothing to fancy, you could totally eat at the beach but decided to eat there so the food was still fresh. I recommend trying this place if you're in the OB area!!!

Yelp
Came here on a hot sunny day. Parking can be tricky but street parking is always available. The inside is small with a few tables. It does get stuffy inside. Food was pretty good. They give gigantic portions and the service was very friendly. Would recommend!

Yelp
I came back here after I tried them for a Yelp event a few weeks ago. What brought me back was the warm hospitality of the staff and the delicious food and generous portions! This place fits in with the OB vibe with its open dining area and a sign outside illustrating all of their popular dishes. I got to try the chicken and beef egg rolls and these were amazingly good! I would definitely order this again. Meat was flavorful and the egg rolls were crispy. I ordered the Gyro plate which is a great entree to share since you get quite a bit of food. We actually didn't even finish and had to bring the rest home! You get plenty of rice, meat, and salad. To finish off we had some baklava, which to be honest had a lot of filling! Usually baklava has barely any filling but this was was filling with just one piece! I'll definitely check them out again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
A cozy restaurant with many promising items on the menu. We were here on a hot Summer day. The owner was very friendly and accommodated our dog indoors, even offering treats and lots of love. We got one Chicken Shawarma Pita and the Shish Tawook plate for entrees. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The chicken kabob could have been a little more tender and flavorful. The sauce is a little dilute but good. And to top off the meal, our dessert, Turkish Baklava was extremely light and incredibly tasty. Finding parking can be a little tricky. Nevertheless, this restaurant definitely offers homely and great Mediterranean dishes.

Yelp
Is there enough room to leave a 10 star review?!?! I feel like 5 stars isn't enough. To start... the owners are such INCREDIBLE, kind, personable, and passionate humans. And they sure know how to throw down in the kitchen!! I tend to be quite critical when it comes to Middle Eastern restaurants - especially growing up eating the BEST Middle Eastern food - and I've gotta be honest.. Shawarma house hits pretty close to home!! From the warm Mid-Eastern hospitality, to the fresh shawarma shaved off the roasting pit, and the spacious dining room, this has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots in San Diego. THAT'S A BIG DEAL Y'ALL. Lemme tell ya about the goodies! For starters, let's talk about the beef shawarma wrapped in a pita. Folks... THIS is how it's done. A great ratio of deliciously marinated beef shawarma to crunchy veggies and tahini sauce all wrapped up in a thin pita. I smiled as I took every bite, giving gratitude to the food of my homeland. The tabbouleh and shirazi salad were also delicious!! I've gotta highlight the tabbouleh and, again, say that THIS is the way to make tabbouleh; parsley forward, refreshing, and the perfect amount of lemony citrus. I was also generously gifted a side of the egg rolls which were SO DELICIOUS!!! There's nothing like a bite of golden fried delicious stuffed with beef and chicken shawarma, dipped in their beautifully balanced hot sauce. All of that to say... YES. Do it. Please go here to enjoy the food, ambience, and to support this incredible business!!

Yelp
Shawarma House is a family-run restaurant serving up delicious food in OB (tucked away near the Target). They have some seating available, but this also makes for the perfect kind of food to take out (that can last for more than one meal). I ordered the creamy chicken chop plate and a falafel pita. The portions were huge! The plate came with a hearty serving of rice, salad and hummus. I loved the tender, breaded chicken served with a tasty cream sauce on top. It was full of flavor and easily lasted a second meal. The falafel pita was also ridiculously good. I love that the falafel remained very crisp in the wrap. Everything tasted fresh and was very well made. I also appreciated that the restaurant felt very clean. The woman taking our order was so sweet and we hope that they do well here!

Yelp
This is my new Shawarma Spot. Everything was so delicious!!! I was here earlier in the day for a yelp event but it was soooo good I HAD to return for more later that day. Very clean and organized. Plenty of seating (stools, tables inside and a few tables in the sidewalk). I sat at the stools at the open window to people watch. This one s a family owned restaurant that has been in business for only a few months but is already cranking out delicious food. Their service was amazing as well. They serve beer on tap (also bottle and can) and have coolers full of grab and go drinks. I had a beef shawarma wrap, small side of hummus and small side of tabouli. I also ordered some chicken shawarma egg rolls to go and the owner tossed in a few beef ones for me to sample along with extra hummus and some crispy pita chips. Wow!!! So glad Yelp introduced me to this place. Highly recommend trying this place. Easy to find-- It's located on the main strip in OB, a few doors down from the mini-Target.

Yelp
Shawarma House is a new spot (9 months) that's doing a pretty good job. The Falafel is fantastic. It was wonderfully crisp on the outside and perfectly moist inside. It comes out hot and freshly steaming, a picture of Mediterranean excellence. The garlic sauce is great and compliments it perfectly. Honestly some of the best falafel I've ever had. We got the Shawarma Wrap portion combo which comes with both beef and chicken shawarma inside along with pickles, lettuce, tomato, red onion and garlic sauce. To be honest - the wrap needs work. It needed salt, less lettuce, more garlic spread and pickles and didn't need to be panini pressed. I think that process kinda drains it of a little moisture which the meat begs for. It is good with ample sauce by itself it is lacking. The staff is great, very open and enthusiastic about making changes. Clearly family run establishment and you get a warm sense of hospitality while inside. I'd come back, but only for the falafel.

Yelp
Good tasting food, friendly service. Had the chicken shawarma and tabouli. Seating area is small, and geared more towards takeout, but we got a table.

Yelp
LOVE this place! Located in the heart of OB, making parking somewhat difficult but well worth it. Service isn't always the fastest but between the amazing staff and food the wait flies by -- I find people in OB typically easy to hold conversations with too. I've now visited this places 3 times and every time it gets better. I'm probably the number 1 fan of their falafel balls, seriously best I've had in San Diego. The prices are more than fair for the quality of food portions. Only request I have would be them having a bar to give me even meow reason to hang out! Haha If you're in need of a Shawarma spot, look no further, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly service and efficient! The man who took my order and ran front of house was amazing. Street parking in OB and paid lots around but the wrap I got came with two side salads which were good. Beef wrap was tasty and hot. Good for takeout!

Yelp
This family-run, hole-in-the-wall establishment offers the usual shawarma fare, with quick, attentive service by delightful and charming family members. I ordered a chicken shawarma pita and some baklava, which were filling and delicious, with generous portions. A small Greek salad was included with the pita. One of the young people working there asked if I would like hot sauce for my pita, but when I declined, he encouraged me to try it, which I did, and I am glad that I did. My baklava was beautifully plated with an extra drizzle of honey syrup and generous sprinkle of ground pistachios. There happened to be a street fare going on (the chili cook off), which made eating at the bar, which looks out onto the street, a great place to sit to watch the passing people and pets. Wednesday evenings, the street is the scene of the weekly farmers' market and fare. Check it out!

Yelp
A small family owned restaurant just opened in January near ocean beach. Service is friendly and attentive. The staff is knowledgeable and explained their menu items in detail. A family runs the place, and they use delectable Mediterranean recipes to craft their many menu items. I like lots of variety in my life, and never play it safe, so I chose the combo plate, which basically has everything in one big plate. The meats are well prepared and the rice is seasoned perfectly. The combo also comes with a side of refreshing salad and some pita pieces to go with the hummus. There was so much deliciousness leftover that I took a large To Go bag, and am looking forward to enjoying more for lunch tomorrow.

Yelp
We had Shwarma house cater my grandma's celebration of life and it was an absolute hit! You don't often get Mediterranean food for a gathering because it can be hit or miss for some people, but I think Shwarma house is the exception. They make some meannnn egg roles that are the favorite amount everyone. The saffron rice and chicken/beef/falafel pans were delectable and all the sauces that went with were perfection. Not to mention their pita and chips are great. I'm a new fan of this place and can't wait till my family caters with them again. Also, every time my family has gone to eat here the restaurant folks always throw in something special for them. For my grandma's celebration, my cousin mentioned that she loved the egg roles and then we ended up with 2 free big tins! They are so giving here and it gives me a warm feeling.

Yelp
If you're a person who generally enjoys shawarma and/or Mediterranean food, this is a decent spot to go if you're in Ocean Beach. However, I'm not going out of my way to come back. The gyros is decent, the chicken is a bit dry, but everything has those nice, bright flavors. The coolest thing about the place is the counter seating facing the sidewalk. Couple that with the reggae in the background, and you've got the epic Ocean Beach vibe some of our tourists seem to crave. This is a great spot for people watching. My permanent date ordered the fattoush with gyros and I got the Greek salad with chicken. The salad dressings were good, the vegetables were fresh, and my tomatoes actually tasted like tomatoes. Except my guy didn't bring the fries my lady ordered. When I brought it to Homie's (I didn't get the counter guy's name) attention, he was apologetic and asked me if I wanted anything else, which would be on him. I asked if they had toum (whipped garlic), and he offered it to me on the house (I chose toum over house made baklava, and I mildly regret that choice). The fries were fantastic. Perfectly crispy outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. The toum is a perfect accompaniment to the fries. Okay, I retract my earlier statement. I would totally be willing to come back for these fries. Seriously, we were going to leave, but the fries kept us glued to our seats. Order shawarma fries, gyro fries, or whatever fries they have on the menu.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
Good food The serving portions are also quite generous which I always appreciate during this inflation age. They have the garlic sauce, which is phenomenal. The beef rolls and the beef pita wrap were delicious. Not much of a fan of the chicken fries. The baklava is not great. I have had better. It seemed a bit hard to chew. The service was good.

Yelp
We traveled to Ocean Beach for Fathers Day and stopped in at the Shawarma House for a quick take home. I had the perfect greeting from Ray who was very welcoming and efficient. They were handling customers as they arrived to pick up prior ordered meals. I ordered the Shawarma chicken pita which was individually prepared and took about 10 minutes. The pita was enough to be enjoyed for 2 adults. The pita was delicious. The seasoning was perfect and I enjoyed it with a wonderful rose wine at home for Father's Day. The most enjoyable part of my visit is to have the opportunity to visit with Sam the owner and Ray who delighted me in conversation and an exceptional meal. When we are out for the evening or the day we look forward to enjoy our meal with conversation with the service. We were not disappointed. The food is outstanding and the smiles along with the service is worth many visits.

Yelp
Tried it twice now and it's been great both times, highly recommend!!! Loved the egg rolls, the gyro pita, beef shawarma wrap, and baklava!

Yelp
Shawarma House is HANDS DOWN one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. Let me start by saying it's always CLEAN!! We missed the owners son today who is one of the finest young kids on the planet but it was still a great visit. They are always beyond hospitable and the customer service is TOP TIER. I ordered a side of falafel, chicken egg rolls, and a chicken shawarma plate(no pita). EVERYTHING and I mean everything is fresh to order. The portions are HUGE! I was explaining to them that what I was taking to go is literally two separate meals. I ate there and had enough to take home for two meals for under $35! This was EASILY enough food for 3 people. I've taken a break from eating out because of lack of customer service, food quality, and portion sizes. When o eat here I NEVER have to worry about that here. Everything is ALWAYS consistent. I wish they had a location in Temecula! If you're in the San Diego area and looking for tasty, QUALITY food along with a great atmosphere, THIS IS YOUR PLACE!

Yelp
Shawarma House is located on Newport Ave in Ocean Beach/OB and had opened over a month ago. Limited street parking and private parking lots close by. Yesterday, while out in OB, my friend and I saw Shawarma House and decided to try their lunch. Most indoor seating were taken as there was a large group of military people having lunch. Luckily there were a few tables and seats outside with an umbrella shade for us to enjoy the OB sunshine. The cashier staff named Mais was cordial, helpful and nice. She explained some of the items on the menu, which was mostly Mediterranean selections. I like Mediterranean food and glad this place was new and clean. For my dining friend the Beef Shawarma plate which has the sliced marinated beef, yellow saffron rice, salad, hummus and pita. For myself, the Greek salad, with added Falafel. And of course french fries to share. The food looked appealing, presented nicely, generous portions too; we should have just ordered one dish. We were hungry and ate some of our lunches but couldn't finish it all and had most of it boxed togo. I like Mediterranean food and the food here was ok but just not the best I've had. I tried some of the beef shawarma and it had a taste of lamb, which I'm not a fan of. A big fan of lamb is a furbaby, and she liked it. Perhaps a beef kabob would taste more like beef and not taste any hint of lamb...? The saffron rice tasted bland just like the hummus. The pita bread was not fluffy but rather flat. Fries lacked sea salt seasoning. Upon cutting a falafel ball, it was mostly chickpea and not green inside, which lacked parsley herb. My fav was the Greek salad which was enough to feed four, had a medley of cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber, slivered red onions, pitted black olive and sprinkled feta cheese with oil and vinegar dressing. This salad was great but would have liked for more feta cheese and perhaps serve it in a nice thick chunk, as it's usually done. The owner was nice and did come out to check if all was satisfactory, we wanted to be reciprocally nice and said everything was ok. If you're not as particular with seasoning and flavors as I am and want Hugh portions of Mediterranean food in the very casual area of sunny Ocean Beach, try Shawarma House.

Yelp
The owners were really nice but service was very slow. The gyro pita wrap looked huge but I quickly realized it was mostly all just shredded lettuce with a few thinly sliced gyro pieces that were lacking in flavor and the accompanying sauce had an overwhelming garlic taste. The first spice tasted in the chicken shawarma was oddly cinnamon and it lacked the smokiness flavor we so enjoy. Best part of the meal was the people watching from the front counter seats.
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
My son had a beef Shawarma, and we had a falafel. We eat Middle Eastern food a lot and this was some of the best we've had. The meat was high-quality and the falafel were very good, and we asked for tahini. It was excellent. Service was extremely friendly. Ambiance was just an easy-going beach falafel and shawarma spot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Terrible got the chicken wrap I thought it was shown like the photos juicy pieces of chicken in a wrap I got it to go I tossed it out it what more like dried out tiny shredded pieces. It fell apart so overcooked and dry. Don't like hot sauce so nothing to moisten it up. Waste of almost 17.00 it didn't come with sides. Luna grill & other shawarma places for that price you get a plate of good tasting meat - rice etc. Can't imagine how anything but one star is given unless they ordered something different & wasn't cooked to death! This would be the first time in my life I would like a refund since it wasn't edible.

Yelp
The previous business at this suite in downtown Ocean Beach was also a Mediterranean style eatery, but it operated for less than a year before closing. Shawarma House opened less than a week ago as its replacement. The dining area had a combination of small tables, round high-tops, and a countertop along the front window for seating. The staff was still getting the logistics in order with an example being the menu screens. They were not working yet so in their place were paper menus that listed the offerings. No photos were available so I asked about the Shawarma Portion Plate which was one of the 13 choices of Plates on the first page. It turned out the name was a combination of beef and chicken as proteins off the rotisserie. Yellow rice, hummus, salad, and pita bread were served with the meats. When I got my food and had a chance to start eating after arriving home, I noticed that both the beef and chicken were really moist. I have had versions in which they were quite dry after being sliced off the spit. The hummus was very smooth and creamy while four slices of pita were wrapped inside aluminum foil. Priced at just under $20, this combination plate was on par with the competition that serves fast casual Middle Eastern fare in SD. I thought highly enough of my takeout experience at Shawarma House to give a 4.5 star rating.

Yelp
This place fits OB perfectly! Inside is bland, no character, chairs are ripped, random tables. Just 2 blocks from the pier attracts the same crowd as well. Food was good! I really like the chicken shawarma wrap, the beef shawarma plate wasn't that flavorful. If you just want take out to bring home, then this place is perfect. Don't stay and eat, and I don't think they expect you to either. Staff was super nice and friendly!

Yelp
Great location by the beach! Wonderful and kind service- this was the highlight of my visit. Great food that is flavorful. I'll be coming back!

Yelp
great flavor and friendly, generous the staff is. Highly recommend. If You are looking for flavor in OB, This is the restaurant . Great vegan options! They have Many drinks and pastries to offer as well.

Yelp
Highly recommend! So friendly! Mais was so helpful and kind. Had such a great experience on top of the food being so fresh and delicious! Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Really delicious shawarma spot! Big portions, plus they gave me a side of their house made "hot sauce" - really unique and a great addition!! Mais (I think that was her name) was lovely and super attentive. Bonus that they have a variety of drinks as well as some alcohol. Definitely check this place out!!

Yelp
The food was amazing. We got the Chicken Shawarma and a sifr of falafels. The falafels had SO much flavor, and a great texture. The chicken was flavorful and well-cooked, the rice was delicious, and the hummus was amazing. The service was incredible. Actually. They were so attentive even though we were sitting out on the patio. The food came out so quickly too! The cashier and chef were so nice and seemed so genuine. It was a warm vibe all around. Plus some GOOD food.

Simon M.

Yelp
Food is off the chart delicious and service is friendly and outstanding. Greek salad is huge and incredibly tasty. Shawarma plate is a lot of food with great flavor. Must try to chicken or beef 'egg rolls.'
google avatar

Tuan N.

Yelp
Food is delicious, can't go wrong with any of their plates because you get a huge portion. Make sure to try the eggrolls they're so good. Staff is really nice, helpful, and friendly. Vibes are cool here, stop by!

Yelp
The food was so good and the whole store was very clean. I would definitely recommend coming here and trying this out. It was my first time eating chicken shawarma and It was so delicious. The staff is very friendly. I'm for sure coming again !

Yelp
I'm so glad this place just moved in! I've been meaning to try this for a couple of weeks now that it's open and finally went for it after the gym tonight. The guy at the front was very nice and friendly and gave me a few extra things to sample which I really really appreciate. The portion plate was massive and delicious and could easily feed two (but I ate the whole thing lol). The Pita chips were out of this world and the tabbouli was excellent and fresh. I might go back just for those chips sometime.
google avatar

Tanya D.

Yelp
I must say, it was quite a delightful experience. The falafel balls were perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and flavorful inside, with a blend of herbs and spices that added a lovely Middle Eastern twist. Service was better than I expected. I will definitely be coming back. Plus, it's right next to the beach
google avatar

Yelp
The tzatziki sauce is amazing! The servings are generous. Highly recommend Just wow for casual street food

Yelp
I've been searching for a really good shawarma in San Diego--had some decent ones, a few good ones, but nothing that really stood out. That finally changed when we found Shawarma House! We were craving Mediterranean food, did a quick Yelp search, and ended up here. And honestly, it couldn't have been better. The shawarma was so fresh and flavorful, and the beef was marinated perfectly--tender, juicy, and packed with spices that just hit right. Then they gave us some beef egg rolls to try, and I'm so glad they did! Crispy, tasty, and absolutely delicious with their garlic sauce. But the best part? The customer service. If you're looking for amazing Mediterranean food, this is the spot. Hands down, the best I've had!
google avatar

Mike Myrna M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the chicken shawarma plate and falafel. The chicken is wrapped in thin and crispy pita bread, which goes well with the hummus and their own garlic/lemon sauce. The server is pleasant and courteous and the place has few tables & chairs to enjoy your food!

Yelp
My husband and I have been here twice now and both times we were met with outstanding service. The people working here are really kind and friendly. The restaurant is clean. The food came out fast and was delicious. We ordered the combo plate and it was more than enough food for both of us. We will certainly be back!

I would give this place a two stars because the Shawarma it's not really that good compared to other authentic places for example Mr. Shawarma. Mal Sham This place is also overpriced because it's next to the beach . I definitely don't recommend a beef Gyro because it taste like very low quality.

Yelp
Shawarma House is hands down one of the best hidden gems in Ocean Beach! This family-owned spot radiates warmth and authenticity the moment you walk in. Service is simply outstanding and the vibes are so cozy! I ordered the lamb shank plate and it was fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The beef shawarma fries? Next-level. Packed with flavor, crispy, juicy--everything you want in comfort food. And to top it all off, I had the Turkish baklava for dessert--flaky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite. Can't wait to come back again and again. OB is lucky to have them! Far beyond LEGIT!

Yelp
Fresh and authentic food! The falafel was 10/10. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
