6 Halal-Friendly Restaurants in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Triangle | Eater Carolinas

"It doesn’t get more classic than piping hot shawarma sliced fresh off the spit, and Shawarma Stop sticks to the classics. There are wraps, pitas, platters, and even pizzas, but the star of the show is the juicy, spiced rotating spits of chicken shawarma. Complete the meal with appetizers like stuffed grape leaves, baba ghanoush, and lentil rice, and finish with baklava." - Matt Lardie

Google
overall, the chicken shawarma platter was pretty good! the meal was about $14 and it was m filling. the chicken was seasoned well and juicy and the rice was cooked perfectly. it’s not the best shawarma platter i’ve had but still hits the spot. would come back to try other items on their menu. the staff were friendly and the restaurant gave that corner store restaurant vibe. not the most appealing to the eye but i don’t expect that.

Google
First time here. I googled places to eat near me and found this spot. I always pass by because it doesn’t look great from the outside. Being here now the inside isn’t any better. The drink machine is dirty, tables are sticky and inside is outdated. What matters is the quality of the food after spending $20 for a chicken swarms sandwich, fries, and a cup of water. The guys here were nice and a lot of food. The food is so good so don’t let the appearance of the place fool you. Must try but take to go

This place is the best. All the workers are always super friendly and helpful and the food is always fast and hot. Love their chicken and variety of flavors 😛😛

This spot is a diamond in the rough. Great food for a great price. I definitely recommend the mix box and trying out the Laziz sauce and other special sauces that they have. Atmosphere isn't the greatest but the people are very genuine and very understanding. I recommend steering away from the pizza and going only for the gyros and shawarmas.

Shawarma Mixed Box took me back to Jordan 💯!! I had the Shawarma Mixed Box, by the attendant’s recommendation. It included a variety of 6 shawarmas with fries. After leaning he’s Palestinian, we had a conversation about shawarmas I’ve had in Jordan, renown for having arguably the best globally. His service was kind, professional and welcoming. The fries were fresh, well seasoned, and he added a special sauce to dip them. The shawarmas took the spotlight and left no doubt on sealing the pleasure of my dining experience. Thanks for a delightful lunch and taking me back to a blissful travel experience!

Found this place on accident by taking the wrong roundabout for work, but I am super happy I did make that wrong turn! The man we talked with was kind and even gave us falafel to try to see if we liked it as well as a shawarma plate to try. My favorite thing to say is if there’s good people, then there’s good food! And the food is delicious. We got the Mediterranean platter and the falafel platter and the shawarma plate to go. I’m recommending this place to all my friends because it really is a hidden treasure and I wish more people knew about it!

Google
It is located on Hillsborough street inside checkers pizza. Parking outside limited but parking lot in the back with plenty of spaces. It’s a hidden gem. We tried the Greek delight pizza aka the gyro pizza just giving heads up it’s a thin crusted piece. It had some tomato pieces on top, onion, gyro pieces could have been more but still fine. Ask for more gyro on pizza and comes with feta as third topping but did not want that on my pizza. We got the medium size. The pizza was okay. The the 2 gyro on pita were sliced gyros and sandwich was okay. A little more salad than what we were expecting but that is same what’s offered by others in the area as well. Would come again in the future for another try.

Google
Overall, I really like the food and the portion size is very filling, typically a platter serves me 2+ meals. Their online ordering practices are sketchy, at best. The site navigates through multiple pages upon checkout, each one changing the payment due value, and they have it set to automatically add 20% gratuity to your order. You can zero it out but it very easily reverts back to an applied value. Then the processing fee changes between order review and payment. On review it's $1.75 but when you proceed to pay the total balance due changes, but at this point you cannot see an itemized list to understand where the change in cost is. Returning to the review page before paying returns the fee to $1.75 (and the gratuity). Once you make the payment the complete invoice is displayed again and the processing fee changed to $2.98. I don't think it's legal to hide fees and surcharges in this way.

Yelp
Try it. That's all. Yelp says I need to incorporate 85 characters before they'll let me hit send. So.......

Yelp
The food is delicious and the portions are well sized. There are not a lot of parking spaces available but it is worth coming

Yelp
Shawarma stop NC food is so delicious. I had the Falafel panini with tahini and spicy garlic sauce. Every thing was perfect . The tahini was a little loose compared to some I've had before but I definitely would give it 8.5/10. Customer service was great as well. Food didn't take long to make.

Yelp
Definitely going back here. Pretty cheap, great portion sizes, delicious hummus, pita, falafel dishes.

Yelp
Ordered takeout online and food was ready by requested time. I got some hummus and the laziz chicken panini. Staff was friendly and the food was delicious! Parking is limited, but there is street parking nearby.

Yelp
Food was great, especially for a new restaurant grand opening. Workers are very polite and on top of everything.

Yelp
Food is really great though it's a bit overpriced unfortunately, if they just went down $3-5 on their prices I would go more

Ms A.

Yelp
The food here started out good, but then it went down hill. I don't know if they changed cooks, but the quality of the food and preparation is not the same. The last few times I ordered, the food was soggy (panini and pitas), the tomatoes tasted spoiled and the fries were stale.

Brian C.

Yelp
Delicious food in a chill environment. I highly recommend. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Every time I order from here, the food is always top notch. However, Today I saw something different from what I normally get on DoorDash and ordered it. When I received it, I was disappointed because the picture made it look like it was bigger than what I actually got. The food isn't cheap, but it is good. For what I paid for I was just expecting a little more than what I got. So it may be better to actually go in versus ordering online or doing DoorDash.
