"Regional food from the Shaxian district of the Fujian Province is a rare find in NYC, and the growing Shaxian Snacks chainlet is the place to get it. This simply designed spot in the once-vibrant corridor of Union Street welcomes lots of regulars who come for well-executed dishes at affordable prices. The miniature Shaxian wontons are a must-get. With long slippery drapes of wrapper, they look like tiny ghosts swimming in a light and savory peanut broth. The beef soup features thin slices of beef, al dente carrots and a clean, light broth of white and ginger. The soy bean paste noodles are heaping with minced pork and cucumbers." - Caroline Shin

I really liked this place. It had all of my core values in place for when I usually go for a meal- good pricing, good portion size, and reasonably healthy. Food reminds me of the type you cook at home, not a lot of oil or salt or sugar, which is a huge pro because I think most restaurants overdo it on those things and make it unhealthy to eat out. Authentic home cooked food. Chicken combo for 11 dollars, also good wontons.

Small shop on Union street that I highly recommend trying! We ordered: Fried wontons 5/5 Super light and crispy! Peanut butter noodle 3/5 Smelled delicious, but the peanut butter flavor was very light. Hot and sour noodles with beef 4/5 A good flavor combo and the noodles were super chewy. Braised pork with rice 5/5 Loved this! Best braised pork rice I've tried in flushing. The soup that came with it was also a nice suprise.

Amazingly delicious and super affordable. Really enjoyed the ambience and authenticity. Had the steamed dumplings. They were prepared like traditional bao but much smaller. Came with a nice side of soup.

Stopped in to try some food and support a local business. I got one of the spicy noodle soup dishes. Overall it was pretty good, nice spice to it. I need feel that the dish was a little greasy or oily for my taste but still very good. The value was pretty good as well, not expensive at all. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. I'll certainly be back to try some of the other dishes.

The spicy beef noodle soup had super dried out beef, definitely not the same as the picture I showed the waitress. The soup was also bland, basically just water and hot oil. The wontons in peanut sauce was over cooked so it basically melted all together. The only average thing was the Shaxian Dumplings. There’s so much more tastier 小吃 in flushing, will not be coming back.

Come to this place if you want food poisoning. I ordered an appetizer (cooked pork ears) from them for dinner and after eating the top 1/3, you can clearly see the mold on most of the pieces at the bottom. Of course we got serious vomiting and diarrhea just a few hours later. It was only 30-40 degrees here in NYC so god knows how long ago they prepared their dishes and how they stored the dishes.

I was visiting New York for the weekend and we just wanted to stop somewhere close to our hotel. We told them our allergies of Gluten and Peanuts as 3/4 people in our group are allergic to peanuts and 2/4 to gluten. We ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles and fried dumplings— when they gave us our order, it had peanuts in the soup itself. We asked the server if this was peanuts and we said, “we can’t have peanuts, can you make a new order?” and they responded yes. They took the soup back and gave us a “new soup” within 5 minutes. I asked them if this was the same soup they gave us WITH peanuts but they just scooped the original peanuts out. They said yes so they just scooped the peanuts out the soup that was already contaminated. We said, “no we cannot have this, we have severe allergies, can you make us a new one??” At this point, my friends and I were already frustrated that they gave us the contaminate food back and so we asked if we can just cancel it overall? They said no, then came back again saying “you know what? The spicy beef is made with peanut sauce too, so we’ll just cancel the order.” The menu DOES NOT WARN YOU of allergies or what is listed in the foods made! The fried dumplings gave me a semi allergic reaction so we just paid and left immediately. The service was poor for people who could be served food that is dangerous to them. They did not seem concerned about it at all. Wouldn’t recommend coming here.

Yelp
Ordered the brisket over rice to go. Food came fast and the sauce was decent. Wasn't spicy and had solid flavor.

Yelp
Big meaty noodle dish (pretty mild - I'll ask for spice next time) good meat to noodle ratio and $8 to boot

Yelp
This review is solely about the shaxian wonton, which for a lot of people might not know, shaxian wonton has its own different texture that's a little bouncy texture like meat balls but also very small and when you boils it expands, it's the way they make the purée meat inside. Grew up an hour away from sha xian, this is NOT authentic sha xian flavor at all. The wonton is just like the regular one and the fillings are also small. I didn't try the other food on the menu so I wouldn't give a all negative reviews.

Yelp
Delicious and healthy! Mad love it! You can never find anywhere else for this kind of rice noodles with beef in Flushing! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wayyyy under the radar on Yelp. If you know Sha Xian snacks, you know this is the spot. Locals and insiders only.

Yelp
We ordered takeout two years ago when we first arrived in NYC since they were one of the few Chinese restaurants that still open and deliver food past 10 pm. Today we tried it again, and now it's safe to say that they are really one of a kind, offering delicious home-made comfort food which originated from Fujian. Sha Xian is a hole-in-the-wall that runs under the radar but is definitely worth a try.

Yelp
I came in for lunch and got Shaxian noodles with soy bean paste. Delicious! I was in a hurry and had to make a quick decision...there were so many other options that looked good. I want to try their soups and casseroles next.

Yelp
Very flavorful sour and hot beef noodle soup. Big portion and tasty ingredients would recommend to try!
