I’ve been to Shay many times over the years, and it used to be the go-to spot for brunch stylish, buzzing, and consistently good. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.
From the moment we walked in, the experience felt off. The hostess barely acknowledged us, leaning over the front desk with an attitude that set a dismissive tone for the rest of our visit. The space itself looks tired, like it hasn’t been refreshed in a long time, and the energy that once made it special just isn’t there anymore.
The menu still offers a decent variety, but the execution is lacking. The eggs Benedict came with boiled eggs… seriously, how lazy is that? The lamb had no trace of shawarma seasoning, and the chicken & waffles were painfully dry. For a place that once prided itself on flavour and creativity, this felt rushed and uninspired.
To top it off, $8 for a small coffee? That kind of markup would be bold even if the rest of the experience delivered. Sadly, it didn’t.
Disappointed, and not sure I’ll be back anytime soon.
