My favorite dish in Downtown Detroit corner of Fort n 8th across from main Post office. Korshery WOWED each visit An unusual combination, Koshari mixes lentils, macaroni noodles and rice into a single dish and it’s then topped with a spicy tomato sauce that uses a special Middle Eastern spice blend, garbanzo beans, and fried onions. Had topped with Chicken and Spicy Sauce OMG The idea sounds strange…until you taste it. Then you’ll know why this dish is a favorite among Egyptians. These Yemeni guys can cook always Fantastic Delicious Food. We ate inside very small dining room holds a dozen folk. We start with Fatoush Salad, Hummus n Lentils Soup spot on Wonderful. She had fresh made Lamb Kafta Platter n daughter David Basha a great Lamb dish rolled into Lamb Meat Balls with Rice n Grilled Veggies outstanding. My Korshery a mega deal can only eat half, leftovers for next day . Absolutely our favorite Middle Eastern Restaurant Downtown Detroit you really gotta try. Prices 30 percent less than other spots Downtown. They do a massive amount of take out orders from open till close. #sheebaexpress @sheebaexpress123 #koshari #davidbasha #lambkafta #lentilsoup #yemenifood #downriverfriendseat #motorcitymunchers

Google
I went through the Too Good To Go app to order food. First time customer. I was greeted on entrance by an employee who could tell i came in for my order. After a few minutes, i received my food with time to spare. The food was really good and more than I paid for. Overall, a good place to visit if you're in need of some Mediterranean cuisine. Would recommend to friends and family.

Food: 3/5 (Not bad, but okay!) Service: 5/5 (Kind and great service) Atmosphere: 3/5 (standard hole in the wall, not bad.) Great experience at Sheeba Express! Located in Detroit, Michigan, this place offers some decent Mediterranean food! I had a taste for some feta, so I tried it out. The food was okay. I asked if they could make me some feta fries, and they did! I appreciate trying new things, but there were a lot of menu items to choose from. I tried a wrap with Mediterranean flavors, and it wasn't bad! The service was awesome! The cashier has great energy, and the cooks compliment het well. The menu was explained well, and they went the extra mile in making sure I had good service. The atmosphere was a little dull. There were a few seats, but I see this restaurant as more of a take out then dine in. Great experience altogether! Sheeran Express is a great restaurant to try good Mediterranean food!

Brittany was very nice, but what I ordered is not what I got.... She offered to give me $5 off my next meal. It wasn't about the money. I wanted my food I ordered. But she couldn't do anything but give me veggies. She had to speak with the owner! I was pissed bc I spent more in gas, running back and fourth. I never got rice dear! It's just sad,and I have ordered bf. Not upset anymore!

Google
Absolutely amazing! What a surprise! The vegetarian grapes leaves were superb and the hummus and baba ghanouj are fantastic. The garlic spread is the best I’ve had!

Google
Recommended: The atmosphere of the place comes across as shabby and dingy, but the food and customer service make up for it. The restaurant itself is not terribly clean. The food was excellent. Our food was so fresh that we could not eat it, because it was so hot. We had chicken shawarma with fries and rice. It fed two full grown adults. Our 9 yr old son ordered chicken tenders and rice, which lasted him two meals, plus he snacked on the leftover pita bread for two meals. We saw a man come in asking to use the microwave for his burger and the bathroom. The staff were seemingly very friendly and did accommodate him.

Google
[Parking] There's plenty of on street parking in the area. Not hard to find a free spot. [Accessibility] The front door isn't automatic, but it is barrier free. [Food] Delicious Middle Eastern food. And they have amazing fries! [Service] Very generous and friendly service from everyone. [Atmosphere] It was quiet and calm when we were there.

Yelp
Boy you talk about a nice hole in the wall! I got the chicken Shawarma here, and it was absolutely out of this world ! The food in this place is absolutely FIVE STARS However, although I love hole in the wall ambience, I have to say that some of the organization of the place leaves just a little to be desired.

Yelp
I stopped in to Sheena in East Dearborn on the way home from work while on a business trip to Detroit. Service was extremely friendly and helpful. The young man at the counter helped me to decide which dish to pick I did get.Shrimp Galabah. I have never tried this before. This dish was absolutely amazing. There is enough food for me for at least three meals as well as a fresh salad loaded with fresh vegetables. He also provided me with a cup of fresh tea while waiting for my food. I have to honestly say I have a new obsession. This restaurant is definitely a 10 out of 10 and if you are in the Dearborn Michigan area, you must try this out!

Yelp
I like the fact that this restaurant gives you whole size vegetables because I had enough to split in two meals.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting food. Walked in hoping for a Gyro as I just moved to area and it's supposed to be a Mediterranean restaurant. No gyro on the menu so I asked what is comparable for a sandwich as I needed a quick bite. Was told "meat shawarma sandwich" so I ordered that. Took a good 15-20 minutes to make (I was the only one there dining in) and it arrived luke warm and barely a step above dog food. I tried to give it a chance since I was so hungry but gave up after four bites and now feel like I'm going to throw up. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Food is good. The food used to have better taste and texture. Now it has changed a bit .

Yelp
We ordered catering delivery and it was great - perfectly on time, fresh and delicious. The grilled chicken is flavorful, the hummus was nice and creamy, and the Greek salad was good. Personally, I'd like more beets and less peppers, but it still presented well. The baklava was absolutely delicious and fresh - I recommend that here for sure. With so many Mediterranean and Lebanese food options in Detroit, this one holds up and we'd order again. it was clear everything was made fresh and with care.

Yelp
The Aromas here hit you as you open the doors. It screams absolutely delicious! I feel this place in some way unique it reminds me of when I was overseas in the Middle East. I would just like to say this I had the lamb shawarma. It reminded me of the time when me and my men stop at a restaurant in Kuwait. That was 16 years ago and the taste was unforgettable. This place reminds me of that time. No exaggeration here this place is very nice and it has definitely great food. I am going to comeback and try the chicken and beef shawarma. I definitely recommend this place for shawarmas call ahead to order. That is all. Chief Beware of what you want out of life because it is short.

Yelp
Friendly staff and food tasted amazing. I went in for the first time ever since I was in the Detroit area and wanted some Mediterranean food. This was the first place that popped up for food near me and I saw the high rating and decided to give it a try. I got the lamb shawarma with fries. The shawarma wrap was delicious and the fries had this seasoning on it as well. A very reasonable price for the food here, I was more than satisfied and full. I would highly recommend and come again if I stop by!

Yelp
I got lucky my first time ordering. Second time I received a salad with mushy tomatoes and cucumbers, also stale baklava.
google avatar

Susan N.

Yelp
Food here is so good! Fresh! Delicious shawarma! The beef, lamb, chicken best in the city! Chicken Shawarma sandwich I was told so yummy! Salads are fresh! No ice berg lettuce here! Staff is great! Food! Fresh, hot, fast!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent, inexpensive schwarma wraps. Good place for a carry out lunch. Ambiance is just ok.
google avatar

Christal P.

Yelp
I came here for lunch because I had a craving for lentil soup. The soups are mediocre and tasted a bit watery. Not a lot of crushed lentils in the lentil soup or lamb in the lamb chili. The hummus with lamb was a decent lunch option that came with some pita bread. Not the best middle eastern food but fine for a casual takeout option near downtown.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
The staff here is ALWAYS so sweet and a pleasure to be around. The food is also good (hummus is just okay but everything else is better than average), and generally, this place is just a convenient, delicious, go-to spot that never misses!
google avatar

Yelp
A great place across the street from the Downtown Post Office. I walked in and ordered a Lamb Shawarma sandwich. The lamb was cooked to order and perfect. Next time I will try a meal. With Lamb! Because I love lamb. The menu looks varied and delicious. Next time I will order ahead since it is small with only a few tables.

Yelp
Ran into Sheeba Express randomly while looking for an alternative to our usual fare in Detroit. Stopped by on a Tuesday Night around 7pm, and surprisingly there was no wait at all! The restaurant looks like a "hole-in-the-wall" type joint from the outside, but don't let that scare you off! The inside is actually very modern and there's seating inside, but don't expect to have enough space for big groups. There's street parking nearby, as well as small parking lots, but you're really better off using the street parking. Fair warning, the streets can be really uneven and riddled with potholes, so park cautiously. I initially ordered a Shish Kafta, but because they had run out, switched my order to a Kabob. The dinner orders come with 2 sides, so I tried the Lamb Vegetable Soup and Grilled Vegetables. The soup came out first, and it's almost enough to be a meal on its own! The Kabob was also fantastic, and everything tied together really well. All in all, it's a ton of food for the $15 price point of the Dinner entrees. It's easy to see that the food is very fresh, and they care about the customers that they have. Sheeba Express also has a great fresh juice selection, definitely check out the options if you're interested in mixing up your drink selection! Keto/ Low Carb Folks: There's plenty of selection at Sheeba express, and they're happy to substitute Rice/ Fries for Grilled Vegetables or salads. Eat to your heart's content!

Yelp
hope against hope. mirror experience to another. had lamb chili as a test and it was watery gristly and poor quality. it was also overly hot so i guess it's reconstituted wanted to like but meh mediocre takeaway

Yelp
Great food and awesome service. I have ordered thru Grubhub and direct-call carry out and both experiences were perfect! Good quality food. Fast service and very friendly professional service. I will for certain order my lunches and dinners here during busy weekdays or Fridays. The grilled chicken salad was great spanning a meal for two days. I never have to wonder if my food will be ready when I call in an order. Baklava was very good as well. For certain I will be back again and again!

Dino R.

Yelp
Very good place for lunch. There was a little wait but I ordered in the restaurant not prior. The food was delicious and the staff was nice. I'll definitely go back again.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was amazing! Their kabobs and fresh grilled veggies are outstanding! Rice was good texture, not oily or lacking flavor. When I called to ask some questions about the menu, they were really nice over the phone and very accommodating. Next time I am in Detroit I will def be hitting up this place! :D

Yelp
Adding this to my list of go to places in the downtown area. I've seen this place there for a couple months but just figured it was another downtown pop up charging ridiculous prices for crap gimmicky food with a bunch of disinterested suburban college kids working it and ignored it. It absolutely was not that. There were a lot of things on the menu that looked interesting but being my first time at this joint i thought i should be safe and went for the shish kofta. Around 8 bucks i think for lunch. I was surprised how quality the food was, well seasoned, all cooked fresh. Came with rice, salad and pita. I was gonna actually ask if they had garlic paste and tahini but it was already with the meal! Really clean inside, prices are pretty reasonable, most expensive thing they had was i think around 15 bucks. Huge portions too. I eat A LOT and I hadn't eaten all day before coming and i was STUFFED just with the lunch portion, so I'm sure with the dinner size I'd have a lot to take home. Was deliberating whether to give a 4 or a 5 but i think I'm too hard on places sometimes...i had no complaints really. 5 star.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've submitted a review, but I was really impressed with the food from this restaurant. I ordered through Uber Eats, so I don't know what the place looked like. I got chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and salad! It was fresh and very tasty! I'll definitely be back when I come back to Detroit!
google avatar

Yelp
I usually go somewhere else for shawarmas and lamb chops but today I was in a hurry and this place was close so I stopped here, the staff was friendly and the chef was a rock star ... I requested him a nice meal and he gave me one. The lamb chops were awesome and the shawarma was the real deal. Usually when i buy shawarma it has alot of oil dripping out while eating but this shawarma was juicy but no oil. Garlic was appropriate and the french fried were good. The place is a bit on the high end of price as i paid almost 38 and change of 2 shawarma deals and lamb chops but food is worth it

Yelp
Tried the delivery service via the Yelp App. Very seamless and smooth to a point. It gave an estimated delivery time and the delivery driver was 10 minutes early so he had to wait a few minutes while I made my way down from my hotel room. Wish the app could notify when the food is enroute. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with grilled veggies and lentil soup as my 2 sides. The chicken had a great flavor and was cooked to perfection as were the veggies. The soup was nice and thick and flavorful. I also ordered a baklava for dessert. This was the best baklava I've had in a while. Easy ordering Fast/Early delivery Great food Equals 5 stars!

Yelp
Great vegan options: hummus, baba ghanouj, tabouli, grilled veggies, falafel plate with tahini and lots of pita. I first thought the falafel was going to be hard and dry but it was crispy and not dry at all. I would order from here again and I thought the prices were fair including the$3 delivery fee.
google avatar

Ezra L.

Yelp
Delicious warm food and excellent taste. Their kushari is great just ask for extra red sauce.

Max L.

Yelp
Chicken schwarma not even schwarma, it's rotisserie style. Good garlic sauce though, that's about it.
google avatar

Zach K.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this place. Pros: Best, cheapest baklava in town Lentil soup is delicious when it's done right The combo is an excellent deal A quick walk down to the waterfront Cons: Kitchen staff is young and sometimes sloppy with their service. Food quality is inconsistent. Some days the sandwiches are prepared perfectly, other times I have had burnt lentils, bits of meat in my vegetarian sandwich, falafel sandwich with only one falafel in it, or very watery lentil soup. The cashier and order taker here is totally overworked and the place feels generally poorly managed.

Yelp
My go to place to ordering food for work! Always hits the spot just right. My favorite is their chicken shawarma salad. The chicken is always cooked to perfection and very well marinated.
google avatar

Yelp
My fave Mediterranean takeout place! There is not a huge amount of seating, but very nice if you want to eat in! Everything is made fresh. They have many lunch combo options, my favorite is the shish Kafta sandwich with a side of rice The staff is always very friendly. I love the crushed lentil soup, and don't forget baklava for dessert!
google avatar

Yelp
Sheeba Express does justice to its name and have quick service and designed mostly for to go food. While I did not find this place to be cheap but considering the portion I got I can give a leeway. I had Lamb Koshari and Mango smoothie. Lamb Koshari was freshly prepared and was served with fresh with salad. Although I was starving, but smoothie and salad were enough to satisfy my hunger and I have to carry most of the Koshari. Smoothie was also fresh and was mixed with strawberry and banana. Lastly, cashier and server was cute and helpful and explained to me what to expect from the different dishes.

Yelp
I got the shish combo the meat (beef, chicken & kefta) was seasoned perfectly, tender & moist. Decent portions for the $

Yelp
In Detroit for the night from Columbus, OH. Delivery through door dash was fast and easy to out hotel, and everything was DELICIOUS. Very fresh. Had the hummus with chicken dinner and chicken shawarma sandwich. The sandwich was a wonderful combination of crunchy, creamy and tart with the pickles...really one of the best things I've ever eaten.
google avatar

Yelp
I love their crushed lentil soup and I am in love with carrot juice and theirs is fantastic! Highly recommend. The classic grilled chicken tawook and grilled veggies is also amazing. I'm addicted to this place

Yelp
Our first time here and it's SO good. The Hommous is wonderful Best Kafta I've ever had. Definitely will be going back and would recommend this place to everyone

Yelp
This place is the best! We've ordered a few times from here for some team events and once for myself. They are so professional and considerate. The food is really good, well priced and they are very accommodating to what you are needing and looking to accomplish. Plenty of options for everyone. The food tastes very clean and is so filling. Highly recommended for catering and a quick bite.
google avatar

Eradajere O.

Yelp
This USED to be my fav place to grab a quick bite , but Today the food was less than savory. I ordered a smoothie with mango , and I couldn't tell if it was a mango smoothie or tomato juice. The wrap I got was very dry as if they forgot to put hummus and garlic on it. The only thing enjoyable was the lettuce I added to it. I tried the smoothie again to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and it was worse the second time around. I don't know what happened but I won't be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food! I had the chicken shawarma lunch plate with rice and veggies! I would highly recommend. And you can't beat the price! $7.99 for a giant plate a food

Amber C.

Yelp
OK I'm gonna say it Sheeba Express is some of the best Middle Eastern food in the area.... including Dearborn! Don't sleep on this place, super friendly, really fast, totally hidden location but you won't regret it.

Yelp
Oh what a fantastic surprise dish Egypt favorite dish right here. WOWED Koshari (also spelled Koshary or Kushari) is the national dish of Egypt. It's served in virtually every Egyptian restaurant, in every Egyptian home, and on every Egyptian street corner. Street vendors serve the dish from carts to people eagerly waiting in line to eat this beloved and highly popular dish. An unusual combination, Koshari mixes lentils, macaroni noodles and rice into a single dish and it's then topped with a spicy tomato sauce that uses a special Middle Eastern spice blend, garbanzo beans, and fried onions. Had topped with Chicken and Spicy Sauce OMG The idea sounds strange...until you taste it. Then you'll know why this dish is a favorite among Egyptians. Also Lamb Chili, Fatous Salad, Meat Shawarma and Lentils Soup. Truly a place we'll visit again soon. Yemen run great cooks and fast friendly service. Find on Facebook, Yelp and Google for great reviews and photos.

Yelp
Incredibly high quality food, especially considering the low price. My favorite Mediterranean place in the city. The delivery drivers and other customer interactions have always been perfectly polite and positive. I've never went out of my way to give a good review for a place but this place and the people who work there definitely deserve it.

Anwarussadat M.

Yelp
Will never order their again. Had my order wrong didn't even try to apologize, when I asked for water he walks to the cooler pulled it to the front and then walked back letting me grab it from the cooler. Bad customer service
google avatar

Yelp
This might be my new favorite Mediterranean food place! Everything has tasted authentic and fresh so far. Recently, I have tried the Chicken Shawarma Salad, Hummus, and Lamb Vegetable Soup- all delicious. Their vinegar/house salad dressing is to die for. I've ordered directly from the Yelp app and used the Eat 24 app before and both orders came up very quickly. I appreciate that they have free parking on the side of the building.

Yelp
This place was fantastic! Nice clean and reminiscent of an old mom & pop diner. The fatoosh salad with chicken was outstanding and we were able to get a small dish of garlic dip that terrific!!! My favorite was the crushed lentil soup (soup is my desert). Grape leaves with homemade yogurt dip was fantastic. We will definitely be back to try the Andalus platter soon!
google avatar

Um J.

Yelp
This place always has great food. The service is also hospitable always. Delicious Mediterranean dishes and they also deliver!
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
Was a bit disappointed given previous reviews were so good. Just ordered delivery, was told 20-30 minutes, food came at about 70 minutes, given it is 0.8 miles a way this was less than satisfactory. The food was good. The fattoush salad was fresh, nice the dressing was on the side. The lentil soup was very flavorful, not too salty. The fattoush wrap and grape leave wrap were ok, soggy. Could be an artifact of the wait, they soaked up the dressing. Will give this another try down the road. Will update if anything changes.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, great smoothies, great value, and great people, don't sleep on Sheeba Express. I'm a fan and will continue to eat at Sheeba Express frequently! It's right off Fort, easy parking!

Yelp
Be careful of what you eat in this restaurant. It may had been a good place to eat but not now. Hear me out: On May 2, 2018, I ordered tabbouleh to go and all was well until I noticed that the order seemed rather light weight. I opened the container and saw that the wheat was not in the salad so, I questioned to the female employee that rang me about the missed ingredient. At first, she kept tell me that "the salad was supposed to look like this". I'm a fan of tabbouleh and this 'salad' was nothing BUT chopped parsley; hardly no tomatoes, NO wheat, nothing but the dressing. After I made my point, she then says that they took the wheat off of the menu for allergy concerns?! But the menu lists the wheat. I paid for what was on the menu. She continues by claiming that the menu is an old one. Huh? Then she says "Well, I can't make a fresh order just for YOU." Right. So I asked for my money back. She refused but a male employee did. Well, I also had 2 co-workers with me that watched all this. Unfortunately, they both ordered shwarmas; one with some kind of beef the other claiming chicken, to go. Once we got into our work truck, they both started saying that the food tasted funny. Within 10 minutes, my co-worker that ate the beef, threw it all up. He immediately went back into the store. The co-worker with chicken followed as well. They did get their money back but a employee didn't believe them until they all went outside to see what came out of my co-workers stomach. I will be making a complaint to the City of Detroit Food Safely Unit.
