I recently took my baby girl to Shelby Farms Park, and we had a really great time! The park is absolutely beautiful and full of space to explore. The playground area is fun, colorful, and perfect for younger kids my daughter had the best time. Watching her smile and enjoy herself made the whole trip more than worth it. That said, it was very packed when we went. It’s clearly a popular spot, especially on nice days. One downside was that some parents weren’t really watching their kids, and a few children were being pretty rough and playing in a way that didn’t feel very safe for the younger ones. I definitely had to keep a closer eye on my daughter than expected. Still, the park itself is amazing there’s so much to do, from walking trails to open fields and the lake. If you’re looking for a fun, active day with your kids, Shelby Farms is a great place to go. Just be prepared for crowds during peak hours, and keep an eye out if your little one is still small or just learning their way around. Tip: Try going earlier in the morning or on a weekday if you want to avoid the bigger crowds. All in all, a great experience for us and we’ll definitely be going back!

Google
Wanted to find a place to walk after dinner. Some areas with water access and pavilions were very busy. Many roads and outlets so even with the Google map, it was hard to know the layout of the area. We wanted to find a quieter area. Did find one that was by Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park. At first we did not know what it was, but cool to see treehouse like structures and rope bridges above us. Bridge was out on one trail there, but alternate trails have splits in the trails. Did help a gentleman and his wife find their car keys.

Google
It's a great place to go with the whole family and even your dog. It has plenty to do from kayaking, riding a horse, paddle boat, zip lining, fishing to just simply going for a walk or just letting the kids play in the playground or the sand . It really is quite a lovely place to go. Just remember to take plenty of water to stay hidratanted

I’ve been twice so far. The first time was a date with my partner. After the first time, I started bird watching. The last time, my son and I enjoyed a day out. Just look at the beautiful photo of the sunset. We discovered an entire new section with chairs and fans. I had the best time with him.

Always a great place to enjoy a quiet evening with the people your love or just to relax and sit with nature

Google
We just drove around and look the up park. We didn't get out . Great family fun park. It was a bit confusing where things are. We found coffe shop but to late it closes at 3pm. Never seen bison's lot of trials

Google
Great atmosphere that often has good trucks. Good place to run, bike or walk the dog. Nice community gathering place.

Google
Nice, we were staying in Memphis and looking for something else to do after getting into Sun Studios in the morning. It was about 30 mins from downtown memphis. We hired bikes for an hour and cycled around the lake for $28, then stopped for a bite in the cafe. Saw some lovely birds.

Yelp
Shelby Farms is one of the best parts of Memphis, and whether you are visiting, just moved to Memphis, are about to move away, or have been here for years, this is a must do and will become a do again eventually. There are so many things to do, areas to explore, and places to relax and chill. I wouldn't call Memphis the greenest cities in the country, but this place makes it feel that way. There is tons to do for adults and kids alike, or you can simply just enjoy walking around and exploring. Do your research on the website and pick some things to do; inevitably, you'll want to come back to do more.

Yelp
Another memorable movement moment for us all in this space today tomorrow timeline keep going forward

Yelp
Beautiful park, easy to access and something for everyone! Loved living close to the park during our time in Memphis.

Yelp
The annual Dragon Riverboat Festival is amazing with several participating teams and growing each year. They have Asian performing arts and culture music. They have little arts and crafts along with many food vendors. There is so many people that are having fun. We will be there next year as well.

Yelp
Canoes & Cocktails!!! Add it to date night, girls night, or just a regular Friday night! About a 30 ish min kayak or canoe ride with a couple free drinks and a charcuterie snack pack at the end! They have corn hole and latter ball, jenga, a music! An absolute must do. Really enjoyed ourselves!

Yelp
Nature!! Enjoyed the 1 mile walk. Lots of birds. Very quiet even though there were 7/8 cars parked in first parking lot.

Yelp
The park is amazingly beautiful. There's horseback riding, fishing, walking, and running trails if you use to utilize them. There's so much to do, or maybe you'd just like to enjoy the scenery itself. The colorful leaves on the different trees.

Yelp
The best place in Memphis to go for a jog or a bike ride. There are forested trails and lakes and things to look at. It's peaceful, quiet but there are enough people there that you don't feel isolated either. There is also plenty of free public parking and restrooms nearby near the First Horizon Foundation Visitor Center. There's even a cool Buffalo mannequin that you could take a photo with. Behind that center is a nice view of small lake. If you get there early enough, they have yoga class there and these comfortable chairs that you can sit on in a shaded space. My go to place to go for runs. My favorite trail is the "Tour de Wolfe."

Yelp
Currently checking out the Water Lantern Festival. Thanks Yelp for the free tickets! It is a nice day with the sun setting soon. Need to sit down and create my lantern. We will release the lanterns this evening at sunset. Such a fun event!!

Yelp
This is a review about the Chickasaw Trail. Lots of wildlife to see if you're early (or late I suppose) in the day. I did about 3 miles and saw 6 deer, one of which was walking along next to the trail (it's a paved trail btw) in the grass. The deer are very used to humans. So, good for photo opportunities but overall I think it's bad when deer get used to humans. Lots of different plants/trees/flowers if you're into that kind of thing. Not all the trail is in shade so on a hot day you're gonna be getting some sun. Everyone I met along the trail was friendly and it's wide enough for people to pass and nobody gets crowded off. There are bikers too so keep your head on a swivel.

Yelp
Absolutely love Shelby farms! Today I was at a Releasing event with Affirmations Lifestyle & Mindset coaching and vibed with some great people while I read tarot! Will definitely be back to the spot !

Yelp
I love this place. After a stressful day, this is my go-to place. Hanging out with the wildlife (deers) is so relaxing. I normally stay until the sunset. This is the perfect place to meet with your friends with no distractions. See, social media has too much of this millennial time. Get out the house and enjoy some

Yelp
I've got to say, "Shelby Farms Park" has got to be one of the most beautiful man-made public parks that I've ever visited. Located in the eastern part of Memphis and just south of I-40, this park is a whopping 4,500 acres which happens to be one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Additionally, there are more than 40 miles of trails, all suitable for walking, jogging, and biking. There are four lakes located within this park; Chickasaw, Pine, Beaver, & Patriot which also offers fishing. I had the opportunity to visit this park for the first time during the late afternoon of Saturday 9/25/2021 at around 5:30pm. This park offers a very sizable parking lot (which does get very packed during peak hours). This park has the advantage of carrying stables that are suitable for horseback riding, a rental area for kayaks & canoes, and more adventurous activities including ziplining, axe throwing, paintball, and laser tag. What makes this park special is that it is suitable for all ages and pets are welcome. During my visit, I witnessed large families enjoying picnics as there is a very large grass area while many kids had fun in the great outdoors as well as Woodland Discovery Playground and on the hot summer days, they can cool off at Water Play Sprayground. Another big advantage is that you could rent a space for a special event. If you want to plan a birthday party, wedding, graduation, anniversary, meeting, festival, or gala, Shelby Farms will have you covered. Finally, if all this fun gets your appetite going, this place has you covered. In addition to the vending machines for quick snacks, they have food trucks on weekend days. If you are interested more in the restaurant dining experience, Shelby Farms is partnered up with two eateries, "Cheffie's (which offers salads, soups, & sandwiches) and "Coastal Fish Company" (which has some amazing Southern styled seafood. Overall, everything located within this park was well planned and well executed. All in all, "Shelby Farms Park" is one of the most complete (and clean) public parks that I've ever been to. The views are also very impressive as I was able to take a lot of amazing photos capturing the sunset on an early autumn afternoon. There is even a couple of large swings overlooking the lake; all you need is some sweet tea and you're good to go. When you factor in all these amazing things at this very large and spacious park, they hit all the high notes. My rating, a unanimous five stars.

Yelp
Wonderful park! Love the area and playground. Great park to take the kids zip lining or just for a hang out with friends.

Yelp
5 stars for Starry Nights!! So well organized and worth every cent!!! It was my first year going, but I will definitely return for Starry Nights!

Yelp
Wow- this park is absolutely massive! I stopped by on a road trip to play a little bit of fetch with my dog. My quick "what to do outdoors in Memphis" turned up Shelby Farms Park over and over again, however I wish I had done a little more research. It was hard to figure out where I wanted to go. I'm sure if you had time to actually sit down and plan your first visit you wouldn't have felt as lost as I did driving around. I'm confident that there are so many other things you can do here besides fetch, but it was indeed a perfect place for it! I didn't see any bison while I was there- they just roam the park and aren't found in one concentrated area from what I understand. I'll just have to do a little research and be ready for a longer adventure next time I'm in Memphis!

Yelp
This is an absolutely wonderful space for multiple uses. I utilize the greenline for bike riding. The lake is a great place to just sit or walk/runs laps. The stable is a nice location for horseback riding. You can rent canoes /kayaks for personal use or event attend monthly canoe events. You want rent pavilions for family events. I love the Mempops location inside of the visitor center as well. Such a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Yelp
This is a wonderful example of what a park in a big city should and could be. I came here for my morning walk and was thoroughly impressed with the layout of this park. A park in a big city is a respite from the concrete and asphalt that modern society has built around us. We need these escapes to how our world was intended, to be the reminder that we can create skyscrapers and a modern civilization, but we can never create something grander then the earth we walk upon. I would recommend a visit here, I would recommend to take a moment to enjoy the world as it was created. I hope that you will be impressed with this park as much as I was. I will be back to this park on my next trip to Memphis.

Yelp
Came here three days out of the five that I was in Memphis, mostly because it's pretty much the only "nature" spot around. Huge park though, liked the lake, ran Tour De Wolf trail, and walked along the Wolf River in the south side, all on weekdays. Trees are dead, path was a bit muddy, lake was really pleasant though. Saw quite a few people around the lake, some bikers on Tour De Wolf, and nobody along the river. Good place to walk around!

Yelp
Love Shelby Farms - we walked the park for a few hours with very few folks in our mist. The 44 degree, rainy day was not popular. We are originally from Seattle so it felt natural. Some day it might be nice to see the park with leaves and flowers. The walking paths are well marked and easy to follow. A colored map is available at the visitors center. It appeared they also had electric bikes for rent which looked fun.
google avatar

Yelp
My little ones always love coming here to play. The swing section of the play park needs revamping. There are missing swings/activities.
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Shelby Farms in a while. I didn't realize how much they had now. I went with a group of students from school and we had a ball. It is a very family friendly park and it is huge with many things to do! They have a walking area around the lake that is so peaceful and serene. I enjoyed the large field area with the kiddos. We were under a large tent (provided by the organization hosting the event) in front of a stage area. So, yes it is ideal for having an outdoor event. They also have a restaurant on site, exercise classes, horseback riding, zip lining, and so much more! I even saw a Mommy's Day Out group there with their little babies and pets. This is definitely a great place to visit for many reasons!

Yelp
Amazing great huge area with so many activities and potential. Great place for just you or your whole family. You could spend all day here and still not see it all.

Yelp
This is a great park in the Memphis area. I've gone here many times over the years. They have horse stables and you can take riding lessons. There is a great dog park. There is a lake where they have a walking/running path around it. There is also paddle boats and kayaks to rent. They now have a nice restaurant over looking the lake as well. They have a bmx bike track across from the entrance on walnut grove. You can also see the wild buffalo near this entrance as well. In the winter they do Christmas lights that you can drive through. My family went this year and it was a nice light display. There are several great playgrounds throughout the park for kids to play on. There is a visitor center with bathrooms, a gift shop, and chairs outside to sit on. There is a lot to do at this park! I am looking forward to bringing my doodle here to play soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Shelby Farms served as an amazing backdrop for a recent photoshoot. I regularly run/walk, and cycle there, but I never really stop to take in the beauty and the colors. The park also extends to the Greenline and the Greenway, and you can regularly find individuals and families lounging, fishing, picnicking, and exercising. During this holiday season, Starry Nights is absolutely worth seeing if you love Christmas lights. But overall, there is absolutely something for everyone to enjoy.

Yelp
When visiting my brother in law in Memphis this past weekend, we decided to spend some time exploring one of the park's lakes. This park is great if you want to walk, run, kayak, bike, walk a dog, sit in a lounge chair by the water and watch the wildlife, etc. We saw lots of ducks and herons. The park is very large (we were able to explore just a very small part), but we really enjoyed the part we explored! Lovely way to stretch your legs on a beautiful day!
google avatar

Yelp
I am a Memphis native and yet just a few months ago discovered a whole new area Of Shelby farms. Always so beautiful, especially when the sun is setting. My absolute favorite is the rare occasions we get "a lot" of snow and people in the area will bring their boxes and boards and slide down the hills. Some good (free), beautiful fun!
google avatar

Nikki T.

Yelp
This place is beautiful. The employees are kids who are.....well...kids. So don't expect too much customer service or attentiveness. It's inexpensive to rent a paddle boat but for good reason. The area for the paddle boats is small, real small which (unless you want to go in circles for an hour with 3 kids) sucks. It's super shallow but we still have to wear life jackets even though we can't get into the water. But....since the water is gross, you wouldn't want to get in anyways and risk needing antibiotics.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Large, relaxing park. Great for running, walking around the lake, cycling trails, off leash dog area, playground, rentable party area, paddle-boats, and zip-lines, A centerpiece of Memphis.
google avatar

Darice S.

Yelp
Beautiful & relaxing view. Clean restrooms. Really nice and usually very clean walking path. Just wish that pet owners would pickup after their pets.

Yelp
I love shelby farms park!!I didn't know there are some trails. It was great!!!It's good for easy hike!
google avatar

Martin M.

Yelp
the trails are beautiful, but not the best maintained. lots of muddy puddles. it's easy to get lots due to there being only a few markers. also there is no map of the trails. and at a certain point on the blue trail it has you go under the highway, it's quite creepy, then no direction where to go next. still going back, but would prefer a lil more attention put in by the rangers
google avatar

Kierra W.

Yelp
If you can't figure out what to do on a beautiful day, just ride up to Shelby Farms. There's so much to do and try. We mostly walk around the lake, but you'll see people biking, skating, riding unicycles.. the list goes on. The playground is super fun (but busy-- make sure you keep an eye on your little ones). My husband and I tried out Cocktails and Canoes and it was a lovely experience. Perfect date night for those who want to find more active things to do. You can obviously rent kayaks and canoes whenever you want to, but it was especially nice to canoe during the sunset and then head to the pavilion for a delish charcuterie box (Chefies) with drinks by Old Dominick. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
The perfect place to go when you need a break from the hustle and bustle, want to go horseback riding, get on a boat, ride your bike, or just walk and let your soul dangle. There is also a big playground where your kids can interact with others and enjoy the great outdoors. We are lucky to have Shelby Farms Park in Memphis!

Yelp
Love this memphis park! ever since its upgrade a few years back, it's been one of my favorite places to visit whenever I'm back in the 901. Great place for runs, quick hikes, strolls.
google avatar

Dawn F.

Yelp
Yes, we go here at least 3 times a month. Trails, ‍, picnic or just sitting by the lake.
google avatar

Alina A.

Yelp
If you like pig races ..sack races .. tractor rides ..and corn mazes this is the place for you of course this farm has many other things you can do like apple picking etc ..you just have to go during the season. We actually missed a lot of the other things they had to offer but that's ok we enjoyed what we were able to do. They have a patch for picking flowers and also a patch for just pumpkins. Plenty of space for the kids to run around. Due to Covid there are strict rules in place on when you can go inside the park . You must adhere to the scheduled time on your ticket.
google avatar

Janos J.

Yelp
Shelby Farms is massive in size, considering that this park is 4,500 acres in size. During Christmas they host the Starry Nights, which costs $20 per car (they have a $5 discount for yelp users when checking in, so the cost is just $15. I recommend coming about 30-45 minutes early as the line gets very long). The Park has a very nice playground for kids, it is enormous. Just checkout the pictures. There is something to do here for everyone. If you love the outdoors, I'd highly recommend checking out Shelby Farms Park, this place is 5x the size of Central Park in NYC. Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience here. I was in search of a place to go horseback riding while out of town. I found this place and decided to book an hour ride for my daughter and I. We arrived and were pleasantly surprised how well laid out this park is. It was gorgeous and huge, there is so much to see and do. We will definitely be back to check out other attractions but today we thoroughly enjoyed the entire horseback riding experience . The process was efficient, the ride was great and the volunteer who did our tour was awesome, she told jokes and gave us fun facts about horses and made the ride really fun. We can't wait to come back and ride again and check out the other things this great park has to offer.

Marisa F.

Yelp
Maria was absolutely amazing! She was super sweet and very helpful! She also kept great conversation while on our horseback riding tour! We love her and will be back just to ride with her!!!

Yelp
Shelby farms is a really fun place for kids and adults.Rather your by your self or with family and/or friends it's bound to be enjoyable. They have so many activities to keep you active and having fun.But kids do throw sands in other kid eye sometimes so if your going to the park(super fun) you should googles.

Yelp
Shelby Farms Park is simply a gem of nature and activities in Memphis. I was happy to read about this place via the I Love Memphis Blog (follow @ilovememphis on Twitter if you're not already), and the 5-Star Yelp reviews back it up- this is one of the best places in Memphis. My son and I came here to do some fishing back in April 2015 on our Spring Break trip to Memphis. We talked to the staff here who recommended Pine Lake, because it had recently been stocked for a kid's fishing derby. It yielded my son a few small bass (catch 'n' release). As did our fishing at beautiful Butler Lake. We fished the big pier there, but had more success from the hiking lane over to the right. You can get a fishing license at Bass Pro Shops or at nearby Walmart. (Note: kids 13+ need a license to fish Shelby Farms Park). http://www.shelbyfarmspark.org/fishinglakes There's a nice kids' playground here, hiking/running trails, kayak, canoe and paddle boat rentals, mountain biking, horseback riding, Buffalo viewing, and the GoApe Treetop Adventure Course & zoom lines. My son and I didn't feel quite confident enough to tackle the GoApe Course just yet, but read the I Love Memphis Blog for a rundown- http://www.ilovememphisblog.com/2015/03/must-love-heights-go-ape-treetop-adventure-at-shelby-farms/ The Park was getting so much action the day we were there, it seems like Memphians are enjoying it and putting it to good use. There was construction happening on a huge new man-made Lake when we were there, and I could see this place being used for a variety of running races, concert festivals, and events. This was one of our favorite things to do on our trip to Memphis, and a place we'll certainly revisit when returning.

Yelp
Such a beautiful park. I walk around the lake at least 4 times a week. I love seeing people and their families just enjoying each other's company. The park is always in wonderful condition. If you are lucky enough to catch the beautiful wildlife it will definitely make your day!
google avatar

Alice B.

Yelp
Great place to spend a sunny day. Lots of trails for walking/running/biking. Several playgrounds, picnic areas, and lakes. Zip lining! Nice event facilities, easily accessibile restrooms, gift shop, bike rental..... Great for a day with kids, or a romantic& free date, or hanging with friends! and did I mention buffalo?
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
The renovations to the park are amazing. They added 30 acres to the lake area! There are two tracks that surround the lake so that bikers, walkers and runners have plenty of space. It was well worth the wait.
google avatar

Teri M.

Yelp
Love the trails at Shelby Farms. The Patriot Lake loop is my favorite. Take time to relax on the swings and/or benches around the lake. Nice to see the paddlers and wildlife along the way.

Cyndi P.

Yelp
Nice local park- good number & variety of areas to walk ( hard surface & natural-- shaded & sunny) & enjoy the outdoors- have not tried any of the water or game recreation areas or facilities - but it's a very nice park for a stroll or even just to drive thru & nice that they offer the off leash area for dogs.

Yelp
This park is the best in the state of Tennessee! Everyone is just amazing from the people to the activities here. You can kayak, fly kite, zip line, exercise, etc... the park is big and you can easily get lost for first time visitor. Usually I would come here for quick exercise and take picture of nature. And they have a really big playground for kids in the back. Horse back ride is also available. My favorite park all time.
