"Ryerson's new Student Learning Centre has become a bustling hub for downtown's student culture. Stunning architecture, technology driven labs and smart design make this workspace feel more like a lounge than a library. Just looking for a cool place to hangout? The 6th floor, better known as "The Beach" is a hidden gem just steps away from the Eaton Centre. Catch some locals break dancing or just chill out on one of the many bean bag chairs spread throughout this sloping amphitheater above the city. Befriend a local student for some Wifi and you’re good as gold." - Jacknife

The institution was established in 1948 as the Ryerson Institute of Technology, named after Egerton Ryerson, a prominent contributor to the design of the public school system and teachers' college in Canada West. In 2022, it was renamed Toronto Metropolitan University, in response to concerns about Egerton Ryerson's influence on the Canadian Indian residential school system. In 2015, the Student Learning Centre was completed adjacent to the library building. The Image Centre is a 4,500 m2 (48,000 sq ft) complex located on campus that serves as a photography museum and houses School of Image Arts. The Image Centre includes several galleries, with one dedicated for exhibit works from students of the School of Image Arts. The centre also holds offices, screening rooms, and storage facilities for the university's photographic collection; stored in special climate-controlled rooms.

One of the most unique student learning centre buildings I've ever seen! Gorgeous architecture interior and exterior this building has a lot to offer to students and I have found it extremely useful for studying purposes! The building is well-maintained and a shining beacon for Ryerson University! The Starbucks on the main floor is also a great addition to this building as it makes it extremely convenient to go grab coffee while on a busy exam-work schedule!

Toronto has an impressive collection of buildings that utilize architecture to convey a message or simply to stand out from the crowd. Some of them are difficult to analyze and describe, defying one's capacity to find a logical explanation for their design, but definitely achieving what seems to be their main goal, namely attracting the attention of passersby. In the end, the main criterion is simple and it revolves around your appreciation - or lack thereof - of the structure that managed at the very least to capture your attention.

Another good university here in Toronto. Compare to University of Toronto, this university has a Much more modern vibe. For example, the ryerson student learning centre is one of their newest buildings of their campus. Not only does it equipped with modern technological element in their building design. This building is also right in the centre of Toronto downtown. Students can enjoy a variety of restaurants and shopping centre right outside of their classroom

Extremely good study space for Ryerson Students! Enjoy the various floors with different themes to keep your study space new and refreshing. Every floor has a different theme from sky, to the beach, to a forest. It is hard to keep it only to Ryerson students due to its location, but security tries their best. Also, there is a starbucks on the main floor available to students. I reccomend the 8th floor for group work, and the 7th floor for Individual studying. SLC is open under Covid last I checked.

The campus is so chill and cool in the middle of downtown Toronto; I also love the library so so so much >>> no noise and excellent in any way. The commute will also be pretty convenient and easy !!

I think this study space is good sometimes, but not ideal. If you are the type of student who needs to study with others or in groups, then I imagine this space is fine. The different floors of the building look fairly new and the study rooms are nice and have TV's and HDMI cords to hook up your laptop. However, if you're the type of student who needs quiet space to study, this place isn't ideal. You can often hear police sirens and protests outside no matter what floor you're on. If you're in a study room, you can still hear sound through the walls, and it's not uncommon for a group of students to be loudly watching a movie or doing something that's disruptive in a nearby study room, even on the silent floor. Study rooms are often fully booked but the people who booked them aren't there, meaning you could take the risk and try sitting in them and risk getting kicked out or just sit at one of the desks in the open. The grad student space on the silent floor often has people knocking on the door to be let in from people who I imagine are not graduate students. Additionally, there's an announcement over an intercom that usually happens about 30 minutes before closing that the SLC is closing soon and to exit the study rooms, however this is fairly startling announcement to hear over the intercom, especially on the silent floor. No matter how many times I've heard it, I'm always startled by it because it's loud, which can be quite jarring. If you are the type of student who needs quiet, I'd recommend going to a public library and studying there instead.
